I'm a huge Kikyou fan, and kagome hater.

Kikyou has tried to kill Inuyasha twice, and that was only when she thought Inuyasha killed her.

The most misunderstood character in the series Inuyasha, by Rumiko Takahashi, is Kikyou. Once Inuyasha’s lover, the story would be nothing without her. Tricked by the shape-shifting demon Naraku, who disguised himself as Inuyasha, she was killed believing she died by the hand of her true love. Though full of hatred, she didn’t have the heart to kill Inuyasha, so she sealed him to a tree with a sacred arrow instead. She died protecting the sacred Shikon no Tama, or the Jewel of Four Souls, which was shattered by her reincarnation, Kagome. After she was brought back from death by an ogress, she was fuelled by hatred for her lover, but once she learned the true reason behind her death, she was able to love him again. Even so, her body was of clay, and she knew she no longer belonged among the living. Even in death, she dedicates herself to healing the sick and injured, and making children happy. Knowing this, her goal is live peacefully in the underworld with her lover, Inuyasha, as it is the only way they can be together. But before she can do that, she must avenge her own death and destroy Naraku. Though her plan may be strange, she trusts her life on it.

Kikyou, a Shinto priestess, once cared for and healed a paralyzed bandit named Onigumo. After some time, he developed a dark lust for her. Eventually, his lust overcame is weak human body, and called demons to devour his soul and create for him a new body. Then, he became the demon known as Naraku. Though a demon, Naraku still had Onigumo’s heart, which longed for Kikyou. After seeing Inuyasha, the half demon, in love with Kikyou, Naraku thought up a dark plan. On the day that Inuyasha was going to become human for Kikyou, Naraku tricked the two of them. Disguising himself as Inuyasha, Naraku attacked and fatally wounded Kikyou. Then, disguised as Kikyou, Naraku attacked Inuyasha. Feeling betrayed, Inuyasha attacked the village where the Shikon no Tama was kept. The Shikon no Tama was what Naraku desired, what Kikyou was sworn to defend with her life, and what could make Inuyasha human. But it could also make Inuyasha into a pureblooded demon. Seeing her love trying to destroy her purpose in life and attacking her village, Kikyou didn’t know what to do. She planned on killing him to stop his rampage, but didn’t have the heart to. So instead, she pinned him to a tree with a sacred arrow, where he slept for 50 years. 50 years later, Inuyasha was awoken by the reincarnation of Kikyou, a young girl from modern Japan named Kagome. As Inuyasha slowly began to fall in love with Kagome, Kikyou was brought back to life by an ogress named Urasue. Still thinking that Inuyasha was the one who killed her, the first thing Kikyou did was try to kill him. He escaped with Kagome. Once she regained her senses, Kikyou found Inuyasha again. This time, she tried to return to hell, taking him with her. While she was doing this, Kagome explained that it was Naraku who killed her, and not Inuyasha. Kikyou, shocked, reconsidered. Though she now knew the truth behind her death, Kikyou still wanted to bring Inuyasha to hell. She knew that it was the only way she could be with Inuyasha again after her death. In Japanese mythology, Hell is a simply a resting place for dead souls, and not a place of eternal damnation. This act alone caused even Inuyasha himself to doubt her, because he had no desire to die. Even so, he would die if it would make Kikyou happy again.

As a priestess, Kikyou dedicated herself to not just helping others, but protected the sacred Shikon no Tama. This meant she spent her days fighting off demons that wanted the power of the Shikon no Tama. When she met Inuyasha for the first time, he was one of those demons. He sought to become a pureblooded demon using the power of the jewel. She shot him with her arrows, but never hurt him. They were so much alike; both outsiders, and alone. After a few encounters, they fell in love. Then came Naraku and his deception. 500 years after Kikyou died, Kagome was born. And born into Kagome was Kikyou’s soul. By a twist of fate, Kagome was dragged back in time, and found Inuyasha pinned to the tree where Kikyou met him for the last time. She was able to free him. After she was attacked by a demon, the Shikon no Tama emerged from Kagome’s side, proof of her former life as Kikyou. When trying to protect the jewel, Kagome ended up smashing what Kikyou had died to protect. Of course after this, Kikyou should resent Kagome, but instead she does not. She instead continues on her quest to find the shattered pieces of the Shikon no Tama and destroy Naraku once and for all. She also slowly watched Inuyasha and Kagome fall in love as she helplessly stood by the sidelines. So Kikyou tested Inuyasha’s love; she pushed Kagome off a small cliff and took her shards of the Shikon no Tama to see whom Inuyasha loved most. Then, she gave those Shikon shards to Naraku. Not even Inuyasha himself sees why she did this, but Kikyou knew that when Naraku uses the jewel to become full demon and shed the human heart of Onigumo, she could fully destroy both his body and soul.

Since her resurrection, all Kikyou has set her mind on is destroying her true killer Naraku, and then going back to hell peacefully with Inuyasha. Since she doesn’t explain her actions to others with words, she is often misunderstood and perceived as being “evil”. As you’ve seen, everything she did was with good reasoning, though only Kikyou herself truly understands that. Yet even in death, she still loves Inuyasha and cares for others. She is truly a great, yet misunderstood character.

Giving her life to protect a sacred jewel, and still clinging to a lost love, Kikyou is misunderstand by even her former lover. She is mysterious, but good hearted, and even in her afterlife she heals the sick and injured, and plays with children. Overcoming her tragic past, she manages to strive to achieve her goals, Kikyou maintains the pure soul she had in her short life.

Yep, what she said pretty much covers it n.n But in the second movie Kagome dies. But she's brought back and she kisses Inuyasha to stop him from turning into a full demon. Not sure if that happened before or after she died and was brought back. Anyway, you think 'oh how sweet they finally kiss' but inuyasha is an a** about it, hes like 'did i say you could kiss me!?' god..... *sigh* what a guy *drools and huggles inuyasha plushie*
