 It had been a while. All her kits had grown up and left the den to find mates for themselves. Now it was just her and Prince. Maybe some days Rosa would visit, but even she was pretty much independent these days. She sighed a bit sadly while cleaning herself up at the river. Perhaps there would be a good fish meal if she found the right one.

 Prince missed having his kits around. He sighed wistfully. 'I need to remember to quit thinking of them as kits since they are now young ladies embarking on their lives' He muttered to himself. He took a look around the empty den and went outside to find Strawberry. He saw her by the river and went over to her. Prince could see the sadness in her shoulders as she sighed.
"I know dear," Prince comforted Strawberry as he came behind her and brought her close to him,"it is quiet around here but you never know we might have more kits soon and then it will be busy here again".
"And if all else fails, I am always here for you..." Prince gently kissed her.

Strawberry looked up at Prince smiling lightly."You think so? It would be nice. I would like to see some males though so it could even out the children." She chuckled a bit before pausing. "Although I grew up with only two brothers so it's nice to see females as well." She looked into the pond. "Truthfully, I'm content as long as I'm with you." She then looked back to him. "So you want to go on a walk through the woods and talk?"

"Yes dear, I do think so" Prince smiled,"it would be nice to hear the pitter patter of little paws again."
Prince thought for a moment about what Strawberry said, "It would be fun to have some males around, although I don't mind being surrounded by beautiful girls" he winks at her.
Prince kissed her again, I am happy and content with you too!"
"Sure lets go for a walk, and maybe make our plan come true?" He chuckled and cocked an eyebrow.

Strawberry nodded her head. "Indeed." She followed after Prince down the path. "So tell me...how many kits would you want to have?" She was a bit curious to figure out how big their family would grow. "You know Rosa is expecting to have a good family reunion one of these days."

"Well to be honest, I don't care how many we have...I would love them no matter what!" Prince smiled lovingly at Strawberry as his eyes glazed over thinking about a new litter of kits as they continued walking along the path lost in his own thoughts.
He returned when Strawberry mentioned Rosa. "Really...hmm...Aurora contacted me the other day saying that she misses us and has made a new friend. She sounds very happy" Prince missed his girls.
"We should have the girls home soon and tell them that we might be expanding our family and see how they feel about it...".
"Have you heard from Ninea?"

Strawberry was glad that her girls were getting to know others. "That's good. I hope they end up with good mates. I'm surprised you're not being a protective dad." She paused for a moment. "Although my dad wasn't that way with me either." She turned her head back to Prince a bit sad. "Well...actually I haven't heard from Ninea in a while. I hope she's ok." She thought for a moment. "Rosa hasn't found a mate, but she seems content with where she's at."

"Me too.....I am protective of them...but they are young adults and need to make their own decisions... I need to let them grow up....although I don't want to...." Prince's face fell with sadness as he missed his girls.
"Ninea was never one to socialize with others let alone us, I hope she will be happy" Prince wished his daughter was closer to him.
"That is good, I don't want the girls to rush into anything..."
Prince stopped and turned around, moved towards Strawberry and held her close..."They will be okay dear, and they know we are always here for them..." Then his eyes widened with an idea and a huge grin came across his face. "Lets take your mind off the girls and on to something else.." He cocked his eyebrow and then took his tail and gently ran it down her spine and then tangeled it with hers.

Strawberry lightly smiled while listening to Prince. "I agree." She was a bit disappointed that Ninea didn't keep in touch, but she tried not to show it. "Alright, then what are you thinking of doing?" She looked back with a content smile at Prince. "I'm sure you know better what to do in these situations."

"Well how about we start making our plans happen?" He smiled coyly at Strawberry. "What do you say to you and me returning to the den and having a little romance?" Prince kissed Strawberry.
He loved her so much....he was truly lucky to have found her.

Strawberry blushed a bit. "Yes, that sounds good to me." She lightly nuzzled him before turning around to head back. "Shall we then?"

Prince turned around and paused briefly to watch Strawberry walk towards their den...and then followed her himself and quickly caught up with her as she was close to the den.
"Honey...stop here a moment and close your eyes...okay?" Prince then quickly dashed off to a nearby rose bush. He carefully grabbed a couple of roses, one red, one pink, and one white. Then he went inside the den while Strawberry waited and put away all reminders of the kids and gently layed out rose pettles. Next he fluffed up their bed and carefully led her inside while she kept her eyes closed.

Strawberry nodded her head while closing her eyes a bit surprised. "Ok my dear." She waited until he came back for her then followed him in with her eyes closed. "Can I open them yet?" She was really looking forward to see what he did.

Strawberry opened her eyes to see a romantic setting. She stared in awe at the sight not sure what to say before blushing. "I-it's..." She went to sit down on the bed before closing her eyes in happiness. "It's perfect." She lightly smiled before opening up her eyes. "You definitely know how to charm a girl."
(Sorry for my slow response. I was a bit at a loss of words for her for a while)
