Kizuka'nafsi has been walking about for hours. It was night, and she had snuck away from Fasihi and their mate for the time being. She planned on being back by morning, but wanted to just get away. The birth of her children had put a strain on her mind and body worse than when she was carrying. They were here now and she could see all the resemblances of Spenta in her children. It hurt her to see them, which is why she was out now; to find Spenta.

"I have to see him again," She muttered to herself as she wandered, "I need to lay eyes on him."

She felt as if she didn't see him once more, that her whole experience might as well be nothing more than a dream. She would spend the night looking, and return before morning, before her sister, her mate, and her children had even realized she had been gone.

Oki grumbled to herself as she tried to get some rest. She glared at the three cubs that Angra had left her with, who appeared to be sound asleep only a few feet away. Just because they looked that way didn't mean they were, though. Those blasted cubs had a way of waking up just as she was about to fall asleep and then wake her up, whining about food or some other nonsense.

She wondered for a moment about the consequences before shrugging and standing up, walking several yards away and sitting down, staring up a the sky with an irritated look on her face, just out of earshot of the cubs.

"What have I done wrong exactly?" She muttered under her breath, "Have I not been faithful? Have I not done everything in my power to praise the gods and punish the heathens? Why have you cursed me in this way?" She shook her head, knowing that if the gods were even listening to her, they probably wouldn't respond. As usual. Besides, it was clear that they were upset with her, for having given her such a large and unwanted litter.

"I want nothing more than for life to go back to the way it was before Angra, before those little brats." She sighed, "But not even you can take back what he has done." She hung her head and fell silent, trying desperately to keep the memories from resurfacing once again. But those cubs... They were a constant reminder of that day, and from what she could see, they were not going away any time soon.

One of the cubs, a large male, carefully cracked one eye open, glancing around for his mother. Oh good, she was no where to be found. For one so young, he had already learned that neither his parents nor his siblings were anything in the way of good company or worth staying with.

Standing up, Bagrat made his way from the little gathering of his family. His mother was easy to pick out, complaining to the gods about her misfortunes. So the cub chose to run a short ways the other direction till he spotted something a little out of the ordinary.

A new lioness? She was white and had lovely markings, but what was she doing in their area? Carefully the cub crawled closer to her, peaking out from behind rocks.

Kizuka grew closer to Oki, Bagrat and the rest of the cubs, spotting Oki's bright yellow form against the African backdrop. She also spotted the sleeping mound of cubs some ways off from Oki and froze slightly. Kizuka knew well how protective and aggressive mothers could be, especially those who were rogue landers and not in prides like herself. She would have to approach cautiously and make herself known before proceeding any further.

Kizuka did not notice Bagrat hiding behind the rock, and she called out to Oki, his mother, "Excuse me. Excuse me, lioness?"

Oki flicked one ear in Bagrat's direction and glanced behind her, hearing him move but not seeing anything. She looked back to the other two cubs, sleeping soundly, and growled under her breath. Just as she was about to shout for her least-favorite son, she heard the other lioness speak.

"What?" She snapped, standing up abruptly and glaring at her for a moment before looking around again, trying to spot the bright yellow and green menace that had to be hiding nearby. "I don't have time to deal with you right now, so why don't you just move along." Her tone was harsh, but anyone who knew her would be able to tell that she was being mild compared to her usual self. The last thing she wanted was to wake the other cubs, because then she'd have three demons to deal with.

"Bagrat." She growled, beginning to pace as she looked around, "Bagrat I know you are around here somewhere. Come out and maybe I won't beat you senseless before morning."

Bagrat rolled his eyes and poked his head out near Kizuka. "She's a bit crazy, don't mind her." he informed the white lioness before darting to another rock. He'd leave tonight if he had to. And if his mother raised a paw to him, he'd fight her back any way possible.

When Bagrat stepped out from his hiding space, Kizuka almost gasped loudly. The color, those markings, the very, very angry lioness and the fact she wanted sorely to beat the living day lights out of the small cub lead back to one thing...

"Angra bred!?" She exclaimed, a sheer look of terror on her face. She knew the cubs before her could not be Spenta's. While it was true they shared the same parents and therefore stood the same chance of producing similarly marked and colored cubs, the fact that the lioness, who was clearly the mother, was so angered and irritated by the youngster could only leave Kizuka to conclude that these children were Angra's. Spenta would never have mated with someone who had a foul temper, or cause someone to acquire a foul temper simply because they bore his cubs.

"Wait..." She said after several moments, her mind spinning the speed of tornados in her head. She stared at Oki for a moment before blurting out, "Do you know Spenta!?"

"All the crazier since you came about." She snarled, stalking toward him quickly before flinching and stopping in her tracks at the mention of Angra's name.

"What did you say?" She spat, suddenly staring at the white lioness with a look of both terror and surprise. "You... You know of him?" She paused for a moment, trying to process what was going on. "Yes, that monster bred. Not by any choice of mine." She shuddered as the memory tried to rise within her, pushing it down with some difficulty.

"Spenta..." Oki's tone softened slightly at the mention of the brother. "I do know of him. He saved me once, if only for a short time. He tried, but Angra found me again." She managed to say the name of the red lion without much trouble, something she had been struggling with since learning it. She hated acknowledging his existence as as whole, but saying his name just made him that much more real. "I guess that means you know him too."

Bagrat rolled his eyes at Oki. "Yes, because I had any choice about who I was born to." the cub grumbled.

He refrained from saying Kizuka probably would have to know Spenta to mention his name and apparently be looking for him. The cub need not insult the new lioness - she seemed to actually be almost sane, compared to his mother anyway.

"I am so sorry for you..." Kizuka said, obvious in her sorrow for what Oki had gone through because of Angra. He was an evil monster, and it was obvious his evil knew no bounds. To force himself on a lioness and force her to bear and raise his cubs. It was despicable. There were plenty of people as crazy as him who would gladly do it for him, even if that sentiment did disgust Kizuka completely.

"I know both Mainyu brothers. Spenta is my m-" Kizuka stopped herself mid sentence, a twinge of heartache and embarrassment coming over the white lioness's face. she almost wanted to call him her mate, even if she knew it wasn't true. He was once her lover, and the father of her children. They could never be mates.

"Spenta is the father of my children," She said quietly, looking over to Bagrat. She felt as much sorrow for the boy as he did Oki. He had not chosen to be born of a monster and his victim.

"I am Kizuka'nafsi."

"Perhaps not who you are born to, but you have some choice in what you do about it." She scowled. Bagrat gave her more grief than any of the others. It often seemed as though he went out of his way to cause trouble for her, possibly knowing that he was under the protection of his father. She could not harm him, or Angra would surely take it out on her hide as soon as he found out.

"I am sorry for me too." She sighed. She still wasn't sure if she was grateful that Angra had taken some of the cubs, or upset. She had less to deal with, but in a way she felt a little attached to them and didn't want him to have them.

"I see." Oki wondered if their meeting was a coincidence or not. While she wouldn't have wanted to mate with Spenta, anyone would have been better than Angra. In a way, she envied the white lioness. "My name is Mo'Okiko. I am known as Oki."

"I DO do something! I try to get away and you keep trying to stop me." he pointed out. And with threats and curses too. For a lioness who didn't want the cubs, she was sure set on keeping him there. Not that he much wanted to go with his father either.

Bagrat hadn't taken very long at all to realize there wasn't much in the way of 'love' in his family. His mother hated his father, his father didn't care about his mother, and his siblings (all except maybe his brother) merely wanted attention and to combat each other. He wasn't fond of the hits from his mother, but his father's temper wasn't likely to be any better, particularly with a large group of rowdy cubs on hand. Maybe it was just anger at his situation and fear for his life that had matured Bagrat's mind beyond the innocence of a cub, or maybe it was just in his blood to be a trial to his family.

"It's my pleasure, Oki." Kizuka said, seating herself down to catch her breath some. She had been traveling so quickly for so long, and she needed a small respite before she continued, or returned, which she was not sure of yet.

"I suppose you have not seen Spenta, have you?" Kizuka asked, a small twinge of hopefulness across her face. Her whole reason for leaving was to see him. He was her weakness, and she shouldn't be out here, not with cubs who depend on her, but right now she needed him. Kizuka cringed, her body was so sore. Her body was reverting from pregnancy back to what it once was, and her belly was a little raw from suckling mouths which tugged at her flesh.

"Why would you want to get away, child?" Kizuka asked, confused by him. She knew their situation was less than ideal, but they were a family. "Family is so important at your age. Who will care for you if not for your mother?"
PostPosted: Wed May 26, 2010 1:35 pm

"Do you know what your father would do to me if I let you just run off on your own? You would get killed and then I would get killed. Don't get any illusions that I want you here." She snapped, "If that were not the case, I would have let you run off ages ago."

Oki shook her head at Kizuka, "No, this is not a family. What ever this is, it isn't how a family is meant to come about, and not how a true family behaves." She sighed, knowing that she was not helping the 'family' situation either, but Bagrat... He pushed her limits more than the others.

"I am afraid I have not seen Spenta since the day he tried to help me." Not that she particularly wanted to. While Oki greatly preferred Spenta to Angra, seeing him and his nearly identical markings would add to the painful memories she was constantly trying to hold back. The cubs bore enough resemblance to him for her to deal with.

Oki could not help but laugh at Kizuka's last statement. "I only care for him because I am forced to. I doubt that anyone would care for him by choice." She glared at Bagrat once again, her hatred clear. He was the most like his father, and she had no problem showing her dislike for him right in front of his face. "He's a menace, he'll be just like his father." She spat, shuddering slightly at the thought of yet another monstrous lion prowling around. She was fortunate in one thing, that her litter was mostly female, and that one of the males was gentle. Bagrat on the other hand, was a curse.

Bagrat rolled his eyes about the statements about his father but he knew it was true. "There's no winning for either of us." the cub grumbled, "I leave, we both die. I stay, you beat me and he beats you. Wonderful family."

The cub decided to keep his mouth shut from retorts about he gained his lack of ability to be cared about by anyone from his mother. No one could love a horrid hag like her, at least in his opinion, and no one could love him according to her. At least his father had traits that were admirable - albeit few, not that he knew that word or how to describe it.

"No, I'll have more sense than he did." he did allow himself that under his breath. Never take an unwilling female, particularly one like this - they were nothing but trouble.
