Lika stared down at her splotchy brown and yellow forepaws as she walked. They were just like daddy’s. Every grown-up who met her could tell that she was Blackbird’s daughter. She was so pleased to look like her daddy, she didn’t mind at all that she couldn’t see anything in her that might be her mommy. Mommy was a rogue after all, and Gigglepaws didn’t know her well at all. Barely could remember her, though she knew she had a brother or two to go along with her sister.
Goldenpawed looked very little like their father, so when Gigglepaws tried to imagine what mother looked like, she made up images in her mind of a big wild dog with markings like her sister. After all, if they weren’t like daddy’s, they must be like mommy’s! The logic was every bit as simple as that.
Daddy was busy. Gigglepaws would have loved to be playing with him, or sitting with him, or watching him. She just liked being with her daddy was all. But she understood ‘busy’ happened sometimes. Usually she’d play with her sister, but Goldenpawed had been mean to her lately. She’d ventured out nearer the border before too, but the green pup she’d met had scared her so badly with his tails of scaly monsters that she was afraid to get too adventurous again just yet.
Maybe tomorrow…

 Mo was terribly bored lately; mum had left her with papa, her siblings were rather boring twits, and she wasn't exactly good at entertaining herself. Mo required someone outside of the family to bother, and that's what she was doing now; searching for the perfect victim to muck around with.
She spotted the little white pup with the strange markings on her feet walking alone, staring at the ground. Mo would test the waters with this one and see where their meeting would lead. There were not many other cubs around to be seen at the moment, and Mo was terribly bored, so she would settle with this one.
"Hey," she called, her voice squeaky with anticipation. She hoped to be entertained, and at the expense of another.

Lika's ears twitched at the sound of another squeaky little voice. For a second she assumed it was her sister calling for her, though it sounded almost nothing like Goldenpawed. But her sister was pretty much the only other pup she'd met, well, inside the pack's lands. Vashti was an outsider, but he told such fightening tales...she didn't want to meet him again either.
Maybe someone new would be nicer.
"Hullo!" she called back, her little voice warmed with excitment. "What'cha doin'?" she asked eagerly, her splotchy tail waving as she trotted over to meet this brown pup.

Skygaze had a habit of sizing up new faces, and she did so now. This pup seemed to be a bit more entertaining than her boring siblings. She was a flashy one, too, with those pretty paws and tail against her bright coat.
"Nothing," Skygaze grumped in a most depressing way, a sad expression on her face. It was a most woeful thing, this boredom.
"You're pretty," she continued, scrutinizing the newcomer's pelt. It must be hard to keep clean. "I'm Skygaze, or Mo. Don't matter. Who're you?"

Aww, she looked bored too! Maybe they could play! That would be so very fun! Her tail began to wag furiously at the idea. Oh yes, playing would keep both of them from being bored.
"I'm Gigglepaws," she chirped happily, "You can call me Giggles if you want though. Or Lika, mommy named me Lika." Her mother was a rogue, with her brothers. She didn't see them much. Just daddy and her sister. Maybe when she was big she'd go and find them and they could play and have fun together too!
"Do you want to play?" the pup asked eagerly.
