Bait!
Bait is what we will need to fish, it can be purchased from the Marketplace or Logan's Store.
There are 3 different types of bait, each has a different quality.
F Bait This is the cheapest of them all, and also the one with the lowest quality. It can be purchased for 25g. With this bait, you can hook all fish but rare ones. As I already said, it has the lowest quality, so this means that the odds of getting junk or small fish are high. This bait is very good for junking, or if you want to make some profit while fishing (specially if you are good filtering).
D Bait This is the intermediate bait, in quality and in price. It can be purchased for 100g. With this bait, you can hook all fish, including rare ones. It averages less junk than the F bait, which gives more room for medium sized fish and some large ones. Keep in mind that this means your odds of hooking medium and even large fish go up, but you still need to reel them in. This is a good bait for competing or when aiming to get more fish and less junk, and can be very profitable if good filtering is applied.
A Bait This is the top quality bait, you can hook all fish, including rares with this one. It can be purchased for 250g (expensive emo ) This bait can be considered the best bait to focus on hooking medium and large fish, specially if one filters out small fish and junk. I would recommend this bait for competing purposes mostly, or when dead set on hooking medium and large fish. Note that junk and small fish can also be hooked, but the odds are a smaller on getting junk.

Bait Degradation!
You may have heard other fishers, or read in the forums about Bait Degradation. It can be sometimes a complicated process to explain, so I will do my best and hopefully everyone will understand.
To begin with, we have to learn a something: Bait can have different quality. This means that an F level bait, can have A or D bait quality. This is important to keep in mind in order to understand degradation.
Quality on bait degrades, that means that after a period of fishing, we will need to start using better bait level to keep getting the same results. When we haven't fished for a period of 12 hours straight, our bait resets. This means that out bait's quality has gone up. Once we go back to fish after a 12 hour period without fishing, our bait will be better than the level we are using for 5 entire buckets.
In simpler words, after 12 hours of not fishing, we go and fish. We pick an F level bait, however, since the bait has reset, it will have A quality.
What this images mean is that after 12 hours of not fishing, if we fish 5 F level baits in a row, the first 2 will have A quality, and buckets 3 to 5 will have D quality, even though we have been fishing with F all the time. From bucket 6 and onwards, the quality of the F bait will be the same as its level.
Degradation and resetting also applies to D bait, as you can see below:
After not fishing for 12 hours, we decide to fish 5 D level baits in a row, the quality of those 5 buckets will be A quality. From buckets 6 and onwards, D level bait will have D quality.
After seeing these two diagrams, we can find a way to get 5 A quality baits spending the least ammount of gold, by doing the following:
As the first diagram showed, the first 2 reset F level bait buckets would have A quality, but not from the third onwards. If we want to keep the A quality, we will have to use better bait, so we switch to D level quality, that, as the D bait diagram shows, has A level quality from buckets 3 to 5. Unfortunately, if we want to continue having A quality on the bucket 6 and onwards, we will be forced to use A level bait.

Did you know...??
Did you know that every time you click on your bait, the Fishing game "throws" into the lake 100 or 101 fish? The fish then are tossed into the lake for you to catch depend on the quality of the bait you are using.
F bait quality:
Out of 100 fish, swimming in the lake waiting for you to hook the, 51 will be Junk, 42 will be Small, 6 will be Medium and there will be only 1 large fish. Sadly, since F quality bait can't hook rare fish, no rares are tossed into the lake.
D bait quality:
This time there may be 100 or 101 fish. Out of these, 32 will be Junk, 54 will be Small, 11 will be Medium and 3 Larges. There may or may not be a rare fish waiting for you.
A bait quality:
Once again, there may be 100 or 101 fish swimming around. Of that total number, 18 will be Junk, 54 will be Small, 18 will be Medium and 9 will be Large. The rare fish may or may not be in the lake waiting for you to snatch it, though rare means RARE.
This information helps you to know what a perfect bucket would be, and also to notice when someone is cheating or lying xp
Here are the best buckets you can do on the different qualities:
F bait quality: 1 Large, 6 Medium and 11 small
D bait quality: 3 Large 11 Medium and 4 small
A bait quality: 9 Large and 9 Medium
Note that we are not taking into account the chance of getting a rare fish.
