I might get my own soon after school is out, in May...

Anyway, I was wondering, what exactly do you use for the faceups? And what do you use to take it off?

Ok, I've never actually done a face-up but I know what to use...

Well Mr. Super Clear is the standard for getting that clean look... there are other alternatives, like Testors Dullcote.

Very thin paintbrushes are a must. They help with eye lashes, lips, and jsut about everything else.

Watercolor pencils also work for face-ups... but you have to be really careful.

Anything without oil should be fine. Oils tend to stain the doll.

Air brushing is another option, although the cost is a little high.

sweatdrop I can't remember what to use to remove the face up but if you roam around Den of Angels I'm sure you'll find it.

Browsing around anywhere will tell you exactly what you should use for a face-up, it's not that hard to find. Everthing he said plus Acetone/nail polish remover will take the paint off and help take care of mistakes. However, use caution when using pure acetone, it plays hell with the resin if not used correctly (see my warning/panic thread somewhere on this page.)

Yes, but if you don't apply them right, they'll come off, just like normal doll lashes. Just make sure you trim the edges before you glue them on, fit them to the eyes and cut to the right length.

What sort of glue would you use to keep the eyelashes on?

And Mr. Super Clear appears to be the most popular thing to finish the face up. I've seen some very nice jobs done with watercolor pencils, but acrylics and normal watercolors are popular too. If you do use acrylic paint though, you might want to thin it out with some acrylic retarder. You could use water but that makes the paint thin, you would have to put lots of layers down. Crushed up chalk pastels are popular for doing some shading and blush effects too.
