This was getting ridiculous. Aki had been gone for THREE DAYS now, and Mau found himself loosing sleep over it. Aki had been the one who watered the plants, and Aki always made sure Mau ate when he got lost in his research. The man sighed, leaning back against the wall of his room and looked over at the heat lamps. His searching over the last few days hadn't gotten him any closer to finding Aki. Maybe Nyx knew something today. After all, her drifloon was gone too. Maybe Aki was just being an imp.
Mau dumped the papers from his lap onto the floor and slipped on some sneakers and left his room. At the moment, Mau looked about as far from a rocket as one could. He wore a pair of black cotton pants, and a cream-white shirt with turquoise embroidering around the neck and wrists.
He padded softly down to the labs, hoping that Nyx would be there. If she wasn't... maybe someone knew where she might be.

As luck would have it, Nyx was almost always in the labs. Some of the less devout scientists thought she lived down there. Not that it wasn't too far from the truth. But the past few days Nyx hadn't been working as hard or as enthusiastically as she normally did. Rumor had it that Newton, her only pokemon, had run off.
Nyx was sitting at one of the lab computers, slumped far down in the chair and swinging lazily from side to side. The document open on the computer had almost nothing done in it, and the scientific mumbo-jumbo that was there was half completed.

Mau was getting all sorts of strange looks as he asked around the labs about Nyx. Some people simply laughed and walked off without being much help at all, and others gave him vague, though mostly inaccurate directions to her, then seemed highly curious as to why he would be looking for her.
Mau just brushed it off until he found her The fluff of white hair was... pretty hard to miss. He was about to call out some kind of playful banter, but he just couldn't think of anything.
"Nyx, has your drifloon come back?" He asked hesitantly.

The zombified look on Nyx's face as she slowly turned the chair around to face Mau gave away the answer.
"No... I don't know where he could be..." She was upset, to say the least.

Mau reeled back slightly at the sight of her. "Yikes... need coffee?" He offered halfheartedly. And he thought HE'D been loosing sleep. Mau glanced to the side. "Well, no one in the Grunt or Trainee dorms have seen Aki or your Drifloon... And the cooks haven't seen them..." He scratched his chin slightly, trying to think of something that might comfort her.
"Other then the higher ups rooms... where have we not looked? The training rooms? The infirmary? Maybe they got lost in the labs?"

"I... I guess we could check the labs again. Maybe there was someplace I missed?" She slowly got to her feet. "I'll... coffee when Newton."
Nyx started shambling out of the room and into the hall. Zombie Nyx was on the prowl.

Mau was afraid that Nyx would wobble and fall over any moment. "Where have you already searched? A ghost and a puddle pokemon could get into a lot of different places." Ok that was a worrying thought all of a sudden. What if they'd gotten stuck somewhere and couldn't be found? Couldn't be gotten too?
Oh how Mau's mind wandered into dark scenarios...

"Auuuuughhh!" Nyx moaned. Apparently that distressing thought had distressed her. She jerked a little as she shuffled, trying not to fall over.
"I searched everywhere I could think of! I don't know! This place is so big, and they're so small and potentially formless!" She tried to throw her hands into the air, but they would only come up until they were out in front of her body.

"Potentially. But they don't always exist in their... uh... formless forms... And they will get hungry... they're probably hungry now. I'm sure we'll find them and uh... I don't know... I should have brought a poffin with me. Wait... I don't have any left... AUGH! This isn't helping!" He followed after Nyx into the deeper parts of the lab.
Mau didn't usually venture this far into the labs. This was... a little out of his area of expertise. "Akiiii?"

"Newtooooon...." Nyx shouted, even though it came out as barely louder than her normal voice.
'pop!'
Nyx blinked. What was that? Something just got in her face and disappeared
'pop!'
There it was again! What was it? They were round... translucent... Bubbles?
"Mau, what are bubbles doing down in the labs?" Nyx's voice was nearly monotone, even though she was expressing confusion.

Mau frowned a little. "Mesprit only knows what bubbles are doing down here. They could be anything. Heh, they might start eating away your skin." But... where were they coming from? Mau looked around, seriously wondering what down here could create bubbles. Hie eyes were drawn towards what looked like an air duct as a bubble drifted past it... no wait, it came OUT of the air vent.
"Now I'm sure that's not supposed to happen." He said, as another bubble left the air vent. That could be an even bigger problem then a pair of missing pokemon. "They're coming from the air vents..." Mau reached up and popped a bubble before walking over to the air vent and reached up to take off the vent grating. As he did so, a flurry of bubbles spilled out of the vent, startling Mau enough to drop the grating he'd just removed. He blinked as the bubbles popped and vanished, but still some drifted out of the small vent.

Nyx blinked drowsily. "I hope they don't eat my skin... But we should probably find out where they're coming from... just in case." It was questionable whether or not she was actually concerned, every minute turned her more towards side of the walking dead.
She stared at the vent. Maybe she was thinking. She looked like a sloth pondering whether to reach out to eat a leaf or just hang upside down and let moss grow over it. Nyx turned slowly and shuffled down the hall. "Goes this way..."

Mau sighed. "Yeah... We don't know if it's building up and damaging the pipes or something. Water damage to the..." He stopped. Water damage? Bubbles? Mau snapped his fingers. "Lead on! We have to get to the ... source of these bubbles!"

"What do you think the source is?" Nyx droned, shuffling forward until she stopped at a corner and turned slowly, then started shuffling again.
"I think the nyx goes way, I hope pipe is..." She mumbled.

"I think... a bubble jet pokemon is the cause of the bubble build up." He said softly. "I'm hoping that it's my blue eyed monster. With any luck he's still with Newton." He followed Nyx closely, hoping that she wasn't just... walking, and making him think she knew where they were going. She seemed so out of it that... she might not even be aware of there they were going.
