They were so close now, just about ready to make their home. They'd lost Ka once and for all but they knew that was coming. He had Tabia, loyal Tabia.. and now he had Kikimu, his reminder of home. She wasn't putting up so much of a fight now but Ahnik partly credited that to the fact they were being followed, most likely by Anju. It hadn't become immediately apparent, though he and Tabia knew it was something they might have to deal with. After they did realize, he had waited until they were well within the borders of the pride to send Tabia ahead and turn around to send their stalker off on his way. He wasn't entirely sure how things would work out if the male (so he assumed) made it into the lands, and he wanted to keep Kikimu himself so he would do his best to get him to give up and go away.

Ready for a confrontation, he stood out in the open, facing the direction they had come from and watching for any sign of their follower.

Anju had barely taken the time to stop while she stalked the group, knowing that she was always just moments away from catching up. She could smell Kiki and two, maybe three others. She was fretting, her body tense from nearly constant movement over the last few days.

She had cursed herself and hated herself since the moment she returned to an empty clearing where Kiki once was. She refused to sleep, only taking a few short catnap in order to rejuvenate, she did not want to catch up to them without being able to fend them off.

Anju could not forgive herself If anything happened to her mate. She didn't like to think that Kiki was being harmed and she couldn't rest until she knew what was happening.

Anju was rushing knowing that she was gaining on them, she could smell the main male. The striped lioness didn't bother with stealth or silence, she was too frantic to be silent. She stopped to try and catch the scent again.

"He's here, I know he is."

As time crawled by, Ahnik started to move again, heading out back towards the borders a bit. His prize was safe within the borders now, Tabia would make sure of that. All he had to deal with now was this one last obstacle. As he walked, he became aware of a distressed looking lioness heading inward. He stopped and watched from the distance, though he couldn't be sure if it was an unfortunate rogue happening into these lands or if it was a female already claimed. He couldn't be sure and he didn't particularly care, he kept his eyes out for signs of anybody else who might be coming.

She turned her head slowly and was face to face with the familiar smelling lion. She'd found a tuft of fur that matched his awful pink color and knew this was one of the lions that she'd been following. She took two deep calming breaths, trying to collect herself-- Kiki wasn't with him.

She walked toward him trying to think of what to do, attacking him was preferable, but Kiki wasn't in sight, and there was another, what if she harmed him and they took it out on Kiki?

"Where is she?" Anju demanded a growl welling up in her throat, "Where is Kikimu?"

Ahnik was busy looking all around, seemingly perfectly content to outright ignore the female- even when she was heading directly for him. It wasn't until she spoke that he started paying attention. All at once, between her words and the scent of her.. everything came together.

"You're Anju?" he asked, looking at her with genuine shock until finally he broke down and just started to laugh. He'd been worried about nothing. Kikimu's threats had been empty. Not to mention that he believed that he definitely had the physical advantage over her. No rules would protect Anju's claim to Kikimu if she were female, and that was assuming they really were mates.

"Of course, I'm Anju," she clenched her jaw at the pink male's laughter, trying hard to hold her tongue. "Where is Kiki?" She took a step toward Ahnik.

"Where is she?" a hint of panic crept into her voice, she wasn't sure what to do. Attack? Then she wouldn't find Kiki. Could she find her by scent in these lands? Had he taken her back to his pride?

"I...I.." Anju babbled, "Why did you take her?"

Anju's attitude didn't make the situation any less amusing to Ahnik, and while he stopped laughing he continued to smile. He didn't move when Anju moved in closer, she wasn't intimidating in the least. The babbling and panic didn't help her, either.

"I happened across Kikimu out in the savanna, she was very friendly despite how nervous I seemed to make her, though I suppose it turns out she had every reason to be suspicious of me," he said, drawing out the story, sensing it would get a more dramatic reaction out of Anju, "She mentioned she was from the Pridelands, I just thought I'd bring along a little reminder of home when I came here."

His smile had become more smug.

"A reminder?" Anju growled staring at the pink male, "She isn't a token to be dragged around!" Anju was enraged, she'd been chasing after them because some baboon of a lion felt it would be nice to keep something around from the Pridelands?!

"Where is she? Take me to her! Enough of this banter..if you've harmed one tuft of fur, I swear." She took another step forward, shifting her stance to one she thought to be more threatening.

Ahnik didn't stop looking smug when she growled and advanced again- but this time he did advance against her, shaking his head.

"She's been taken ahead by another lioness," he said, "If you want to see Kikimu again, you're going to have to stay with us because she's not going anywhere. You try to sneak in, someone else will get you and they won't be so sympathetic to your.. ah, attachment."

Having explained nothing about the pride yet, he knew it was vague but his tone suggested coming with him was the best way to see Kikimu again.

Taken ahead? Have to stay? Someone else will take me? Anju's mind swam with the information he was telling her.

"Why wouldn't we be able to just leave? Why force her to stay?" Anju questioned trying to steady her voice.

Her heart fell into her stomach, "I'll come with you, if it means I can see her." She wasn't sure it was the best idea, but at least knowing Kiki was okay would help her figure out how to get out of this mess.

He didn't get a chance to explain anything to her but perhaps it was for the best. She agreed to come and he was feeling that much happier about it. He would have to watch for any escape attempts but surely he could keep it under control and he'd have Tabia to help.. and the whole pride.

"You'll understand soon enough, I expect," he said, grinning and circling around Anju and stopping at her side, "Let's go, then."

She could get her full explanation when Kiki got her, that would save time anyway.

It didn't matter that Ahnik hadn't answered her questions, or that she really didn't even know the male's name. He knew were Kiki was and that's all that mattered. She could clear her mind after seeing that her mate was alright, she could speak to her and get all of the information about the catnappers and their home.

"Lead the way," she held her head high, when really she wanted to hang it in shame, she was under the impression she was just another captive; Anju couldn't stand the thought.
