 The return trip back to the den had been slowed by her need to have a nice long talk with Thealia. The green female hadn't seemed all too pleased with what the Queen had to say in regards to her treatment of Lichen and Bracken but at least she hadn't argued too much about it. Another thing she would need to do soon was to have a word with Azalea. She knew the young pup had been pushing her limits within the pack and it was high time she was put in her place, but first there was the matter of Glacier.
Penthesilea was quite disappointed with the pups actions. He should have known better than to wander off like he did. And more importantly he should have known better than to fall for the lies that Achilles had told him. She would need to be stern with him but also understand that he is still young and was easily manipulated into the situation.
Returning to her en Penthesilea spotted Cleite sitting at the entrance guarding it as she had been ordered to do so. The lynx seemed a bit concerned by the blood that coated the Queen's fur but one look from Penthesilea told her it was nothing to be concerned over. With a motion of her head she sent the lynx off before crawling into the den. Once inside Penthsilea lowered herself onto her haunches, wincing slightly as doing so pulled on the rips across her chest. It was only in the privacy of her den that she would ever submit to the pain. Laying her eyes on Glacier the queen sat quietly, waiting to see what he had to say for himself.

 Glacier hadn't dared even look at the Lynx as she escorted him back to the dens. He was in trouble and he knew it - worse then that Penthesilea had been fighting when they left and it weighed heavily on the blue pups heart to have put his adoptive mother in danger. Since he'd crawled into the den he'd spent his time curled up in a ball and fretting about how long it was taking for Penthesilea to return.
Once she did,Glacier outwardly cringed at the obvious wounds and the blood on her pelt - though he couldn't tell for sure how much of that blood was hers and how much was from the wolf she had been fighting. Tail tucked between his legs Glacier slunk towards her, whimpering slightly with the fear all young creatures feel when they know they're in trouble. "I'm sorry!" He sobbed when he reached her flattening himself on the ground in front of her.

With a sigh Penthesilea watched as Glacier came forward. That whimper did melt her heart a bit but she had to push those feelings aside for the time being. Glacier may be her adopted son, but that didn't mean that he would go without punishment when he did something wrong. "I am greatly disappointed with you." She told the pup as he lay in front of her. The thought crossed her mind to reach out and strike the pup, but that wasn't what she wished to do. There was no reason to physically punish Glacier for being a pup.
"You know you are supposed to stay near the dens unless with Iosef. What were you thinking when you ventured out that far?" There was a tinge of anger in her voice. "What would you have done if he tried to hurt you? You cannot protect yourself."

Glacier's ears flattened in dismay when Pen told him she was disappointed with him. That wasn't what he'd wanted to do at all - he'd just wanted to escape Azalea's torture for a time. He'd still done all his chores...and Iosef never wandered away from the dens. If he had to stay with Iosef all the time then he'd never get away from that miserable green pup.
"I don't know" He told her though this was a lie - but Glacier worried that admitting he'd been trying to hide from another member of the pack - a female member - would just get him into more trouble. Not that lying was going to get him into less, but maybe he wouldn't get caught. It couldn't be worse right?

"You don't know?" She question as he avoided answering her questions. Clearly he was just trying to say little in hopes of avoiding any more punishment. Keeping her gaze steady she looked at him with his submissive stance, ears held tight against his head. It looked like he feared that she was going to beat him, though that was not the case. This minor offense did not warrant such disciplinary actions but more severe cases did.
"I know you have been having problems with Azalea." She said after a long pause. "And while she may outrank you that is no reason for her to treat you like she does. I have spoken with Thealia about it and things will be different around here."

Glacier's ears perked up just a little when she spoke of talking to Thealia. Glacier had never outwardly complained about Azalea's treatment...but it wasn't all that surprising to find out that Pen knew anyways. She seemed to know everything that went on in the packlands.
He let out a deep sigh and tipped his head slightly so that he could look up at Pen. "She hates me...she's always going to find a way to make things miserable" He told her truthfully "But I won't wander off anymore" He promised in a sincere tone.

A smile crossed her maw for a moment. "It is said that the reason that one wolf hates another is often jealousy. There is something that you have that Azalea wishes she herself had. What that is I don't know." Lowering herself down to lay beside him Penthesilea winced as dirt came in contact with her fresh wounds. Shifting her legs so that they rested under her chest lifting it off the ground she looked down at Glacier once more.
"I should hope you will not wander off anymore." There was a chance that Achilles would come back and while she was sure that Glacier would not fall for the same trick twice the male may still try to use him as bait. And that just wouldn't sit well with the queen. "Cleite will be escorting you to and from your duties for the time being." Penthesilea knew the presence of the lynx would not only ensure Glaciers safety but would also be a reason for Azalea to not bother him.

Glacier had to think on that for a few moments as Pen lay down and scooted closer to her, careful not to touch her wounds and cause her any more pain then he already had - even if it had been indirectly the young pup still considered it mostly his fault.
"Thats easy" He told her after a few moments of thought "She's jealous because I spend time with you" He told her "But I don't mind I'll put up with her jealousy for time with you any day" He told her, sudden;y worried that his words might make Pen quite wanting to spend time with him.

Bending her head down Pen began to lick the dirt from her wounds. Later she would find some herbs to help speed up the healing but for now she was content to just keep them clean. It was times like this she wished their Shamaness was still around but Yakut had still not turned up. While she worried that something had happened to her should couldn't just leave the pack to go on a blind search.
Once her wounds were free of dirt Penthesilea lifted her head to look at Glacier once more. She smiled because Glacier had found the answer that she had known all along. Azalea was terribly jealous of the time she spent with the blue pup instead of her. "Of course she is." She said with a nod of her head. There were some things she wished to say but honestly she wasn't sure if now was the time.
"Glacier." She said in a stern and yet motherly voice. "What happened today could have turned out much differently. You could have gotten hurt or worse. There is a reason why you are to stay near the dens, even if it means putting up with Azalea's nagging." Giving her head a shake she let out a sigh. "I was quite fortunate to get out of that fight in as good of shape as I did. That male was highly skilled in fighting." Lowering her head she gave him a gentle nudge. "If anything had have happened to you - " She paused for a moment before continuing. "I don't know what I would do."

Glacier gave a dejected sigh as Pen reminded him what might have been - being a pup his imagination was vivid and a whole slew of possible outcomes flew through his mind. "I understand" He told her after a few moments of contemplation "And I promise to stay near the dens" He told her with a slight nod of his head.
"but..." And he was slightly confused here because from what he had seen in the pack Pen should have been able to wipe the floor with a male 'But I thought males couldn't fight...and really aside from lying to me he wasn't mean to me...i never considered myself in danger, though clearly I was..." How could someone hide their nature so well? Seem so nice and inviting but be so brutish underneath?

"Not every male out there is a slave. There are many other packs, some of which are controlled by males, some where the role between genders are equal. He likely came from a pack that was quite male dominated, much like ours is female dominated."
Letting out a sigh she continued. "Just because he wasn't mean to you doesn't mean that he couldn't have hurt you. I saw how disappointed you looked when he didn't defend his story of being your father. He hurt you then." She paused to let this soak in for a few moments before saying more. "It can be quite easy to hide ones true nature from another. It is so easy to lie that anyone can be fooled into believing it is the truth." Especially one so young as him, she mentally added.

Glacier had known that of course - that not everyone was a slave and the male Derecho from the other pack had certainly seemed strong enough, but Glacier had still thought somewhere in the back of his mind that even those males couldn't compare to Penthesilea and her fighting prowess. Of course since she was here now maybe he hadn't, maybe she'd killed him."Did you kill him?" He asked as the thought crossed his mind.
And then of course she had to remind him that he had hurt him and he gave a slightly depressed sounding sight "How do you tell if someone is lying?" This seemed like a skill one ought to know in life - otherwise he' forever be the gullible pup.

Penthesilea was somewhat taken aback by Glaciers question. And for a moment she wasn't really sure how to respond to it. And even though she knew her answer would possibly confuse him she had to tell the truth, for it was one of the golden rules of the pack to always tell the truth. "No." She said with a shake of her head. "I let him live because he did the same for me." Her injuries may not have looked that back to his eyes, but she knew that she had been very close to death a few minutes ago.
Lowering her head she gave him a small nuzzle. "It is quite difficult to tell when one is lying and when one is telling the truth. There is no real way to tell. Sometimes they have a certain look in their eye when they tell a lie, others shift when doing so. Others sill can hide a lie so well that even those trained to detect lies can be fooled. The best thing to do is to not rush into a situation because you believe what one is telling you is the truth."

Glacier shifted his paws slightly in thought, so she hadn't killed him and he hadn't killed her - that made no sense. Had they both just decided to stop fighting? Why fight in the first place then? It seemed kind of pointless. But Penthesilea was so taken aback by his first question that Glacier thought it might be best to let the subject drop. Maybe he could ask her about it another day.
"But what i your not allowed to question something?" He asked, he was well aware that as a slave he might be tasked with doing things he wouldn't feel comfortable with. "What if i am told to do something but I don't know if it's really something I should be doing?" This seemed like a trick Azalea would try on him.

"If it is something that is tasked to you by oene of the sisters then you would have to use proper judgment in that situation. Ignoring the fact that Azalea wished to do nothing that boss you around, your duties will always be given to you because they need to be done, not because they wish to see you struggle with a futile job."
Sitting up Penthesilea glanced out towards the entrance of the den. She really needed to attend to some things herself right now, especially letting the sister know what had happened. Turning her attention back to Glacier she spoke again. "However if there is ever a time when you do truly question the work that is given to you then you may politely ask a nearby sister about it. As long as you give them the respect they deserve they will explain things to you." Standing she gave him a small nudge with her paw. "Come, we both have things that need attending to. Cleite will take you where ever your duties require you to go."
