So Nate's birthday is coming up at the end of the month. And I have been trying to think of something good to get him. I thought about getting him an old western gun when I go to the Dakotas during the summer, but who wants to wait three months for their present?
No. That will not do, so I devised something much, much better. Nate has never been to a real metal show. Well, being as how, I am the leader of a metal guild. Being as how I go to shows all the time. Being as how this fool is my new found music student (He has gotten copius amounts of new music my reccomendation sof me >=D). He has to go and soon. So how am I breaking in the young lad, you ask? WITH. A BANG.
We are going to a thrash show. Not just any crummy thrash show, a GREAT thrash show, really top notch stuff. So, of course being this is a birthday present, now way I'm going to TELL him what we are doing. I'm going to drive to his house, then we are driving out near where the concert is being held and checking out the local military surplus stores. After that I'll take him out to dinner since the ticket are only $8. I am NOT a cheap person, and DETEST all those who are. I have been contacting one of the bands, and they agreed to wish him a happy birthday when they go onstage AND send us both free stickers. >=D!!!
Oh but it doesn't end there! So apparently this fool like Exodus. Why, I'll never know. But I am in the process of securing us two tickets to an Exodus show. His mom, who I ahve been in contact with, is going to make sure he gets the day off work. Then, we'll go back to see if we can get one of his jackets from this one store near my house. AND THEN, we'll head over to the exodus show, with him none the wiser. I won't tell him until we are actually at the show. MWUAHAHAHAHA.

Wow. eek You really DO spoil your friends. biggrin
Me and my friend got our common friend a bottle of real champagne (not sparkling wine) and a fake Oscar statue for her 24th birthday. xd She works at a liquer store so she appreciated the champagne AND she acts in our local theater company so that's why we got her the Oscar. biggrin Me and my two friends usually get each other random fun stuff for each other for our birthdays. It's so much fun. =)

That's a neat birthday present. He will feel VERY special. 3nodding
I wish I could do the same and get tickets for the 'best band gig' without the person to receive admission to the concert as a present knowing that. These Depeche Mode fans are just plain too crazy to not learn about a concert 5 seconds after it was ever announced. rolleyes

See, that's the beautiful thing about Nate. He's clueless. I told him we were going to this thrash show before I even decided to buy him the ticket. And he wont even remember. Like, seriously, I mentioned it about six times, the last time being Saturday. And he doesn't remember. At all.
His poor memory can be a REAL pain, but at the same time, a HUGE advantage.
Also he doesn't know how to look to see if bands are playing in the area. I have a local database that I use. Mwuahahahahaha.

My sweetie is totally different than Nate - remembers everything. Tell her once, she will remember forever.

Shadowlit Facade I need more friends like this. Me too. However, for my birthday my friend helped pay a little over half of the cost for one of these. The thing is awesome, helps cut down on the wires in our practice space, and also now we don't have to run into the other room(recording room) to adjust levels. 3nodding And in other news I just bought myself one of these as a present to myself.
