Let us go mine! You can look for those crawly things while I swim. I wish the dolphins could come this far. Iweith flicked his tail impatiently while waiting for his rider to gather their things. The brown was in a cheerful mood and ready to get on in their adventure.

However, V'tur knew that you had to plan. Thick grease in case he wanted to go into the forest and avoid the biting bugs. Iweith's oil and stiff brush in case he wanted to be scrubbed. A sharp knife and empty bag in case he did decide to hunt shellfish or crustaceans. Or maybe if he wanted some red fruit or citrus. Thick shoes in case he wanted to walk or sandals for staying on the lake shore. A blanket so that sand didn't get where it belonged... On and on, V'tur went over his checklist. Better to be over prepared than under prepared.

V'tur, you worry to much! I will not let anything happen to you. We will be together. Now can we go? Iweith complained.

Rolling his eyes, the brown rider climbed up and gave his beloved a mental push to take off. A quick trip between and they came over the second largest of the lakes. The waters were clear as the two came down for a landing.

Dreadfully dull today, my love. I shall simply die of boredom, die of it, if we don't find some excitement somewhere. Algonquith was the picture of discontent, her eyes whirling with hints of yellow, her tail lashing in sharp little jerks.

A'lenin knew better than to attempt to reason with her in such a mood. She could become quite furious when contradicted. Instead he stroked her hide consolingly. "Well, let's not linger, then. We could go to the lake? I'll oil you up to a nice shine and I'm sure there will be some dragon there for you to speak with."

I'm sure. A Gold. Pretty as a diamond and about as useful. All glitter, no guts. Nevertheless, if it would amuse you, I suppose it is worth the trip. She stretched as she stood, allowing A'lenin to put on her riding straps before leaping from their weyr ledge into between. They came out above the lake, and Algonquith, being Algonquith, dove straight into the water, with no regard to the rider strapped to her back, nor the damage to his riding leathers. She was kind enough to return quickly to the surface though, so that he might detach himself and make his way to shore.

"Oh." He said, with a coughing sputter, as he spotted the other rider. "V'tur. Lovely day, don't you think?"

Algonquith is approaching with her rider. Iweith warned V'tur about 30 seconds before the green pretty much slammed into the water and sent waves towards them. The brown let the waves slap at him as he paddled towards the shore to let his rider off before happily heading out. He stuck his head underwater and bugled knowing well that it would scare any fish away. Good day to you Algonquith. A pleasure to have company.

If there was one thing Iweith was a sucker for was a pretty green who could use his help. Of course, in his mind, pretty much any female dragon was a pretty dragon.

V'tur nodded at the other rider. A man younger than him by a few turns, he was sure if he thought on it long enough, he would remember the boy's name. It started with an A just like his dragon. "A good day indeed. I have a blanket if you need a place to dry off."

Opening his pack, he took out the blanket and spread it out. Then he went searching for rocks to hold the corners down. Finally, he set down the loaded satchel and took off his riding gear. Underneath was a simple cotton shirt and plain brown pants that were easily rolled up in case he wanted to go swimming later. But for now, "You get a chance to get away? So did we. No drills and not on duty, lucky for us no storms came up like they usually do when we get a day off."
