This is a private RP between Jianyu [Kuro-Mizuki] and Bataar [Kayakurai].

Setting:
Cherry Tree Hill.
Jianyu is sitting by himself meditating, when Bataar somehow manages to stumble across him accidentally.

The top of Cherry Tree Hill overlooked most of the city of Lunaria. From it, you could easily see the miscellaneously colored tops of the shops and the stalls, the bright red of the lanterns strung from side to side of Main Street, and the pristine white of the Academy, towering above the rest of the much smaller buildings.

It was here that Qian Jianyu was sitting, his back against the thick, gnarled roots and trunk of the old cherry tree, his bow in his lap. His legs were stretched out in front of him, and his head was leaning back. Jianyu was not asleep, but he was, at the very least, peaceful. It had been quite a long time since he had simply relaxed. Today was his first free day since he had graduated, the first day that he did not have to train. It was a much needed break from the stress of becoming a Fighter.

Letting out his breath slowly, Jianyu shifted slightly, making himself more comfortable. He closed his eyes, relaxing back against the tree. The quiet, the soft breeze that made his long hair brush against his face, it was all just right.

Finally, Jianyu thought. A moment to myself.

Life was good. Life was very good.

Bataar climbed the ascent of Cherry Tree Hill, simply for the sake of doing it. He was slowly beginning to realize that constant movement and exercise was the only thing that was going to keep him warm, especially seeing as he hadn't yet chanced the furs of whatever poor animal Odval had killed to make up part of his newest change of clothing. They'd just been so soft! The Mongol hadn't wanted to get them filthy-- not yet, at least. No, no, he was going to let his adorable pet rats have their way with the furs before he did. They had to have been infinitely more cold. Besides, at least his shiny new pony was warm; he'd put his own neck-fur accessory onto the chubby little animal, who was panting up the hill just behind him.

He'd been flattered by his mother's gift, but he also wasn't sure to make of it. After all, he was bigger than the pony if one didn't count in the mass that the animal had obtained through a clear love of food. It definitely wasn't possible to ride the thing around, and even if the pony had been able to bear his weight, it would have hardly been a majestic pet.

"Come on... uh, you!" What was this thing's name, anyway?

It didn't matter, because the maroon Lunarian was distracted the minute he'd spotted the other fighter sitting against the cherry tree. "Dude! It's my gay buddy, Jianyu!" he exclaimed, charging gracelessly in the other man's direction and throwing his own old bow(a hand-me-down from his father) down on the ground in order to employ his brute force in a physical attack that involved grabbing Jianyu, spinning him around in midair once or twice(Bat's muscles were at a pronounced level of development) and then setting him down.

It helped, too, since he was pretty sure he was getting something like a cold-stroke. He needed to keep his body heat!

His peaceful time was obviously not meant to be, seeing as it was rudely interrupted by the last person Jianyu wanted to see. He let out a gasp of horror as Bataar came charging up the hill, grabbed him around the waist, hauled him up into the air, and spun around like a little kid.

"What the hell are you doing?" Jianyu squawked in indignation as finally Bataar set him back down, his large hands still gripping Jianyu's waist. "I am not your 'gay buddy!' I am not even your buddy, buddy, you insolent b*****d! Now let me go!"

He was trying desperately to pull himself from Bataar's embrace, but the other Lunarian was stronger than him, his muscles bulging under the fabric of his new Fighter uniform. Jianyu glared at him, irritation running through his veins.

"And what on earth is that sad looking creature behind you?" he snapped in annoyance.

Bataar let go of Jianyu's waist and clapped in delight as he listened to the other Lunarian's denial. "Oh, really? And how do your mom and sisters feel about that claim?" The Mongol pushed out his lower lip into an insolent pout, although it probably looked ridiculous coming from a man with so much muscle. He was still proud of the time he'd infiltrated the other archer's house and met his family.

Bataar glanced back at the pony who'd followed him up the hill, looking faintly bored. "That? It's my pet pony." This particular pony, however, had never been in any little girl's fantasies. It was disheveled and patchy, and on the whole appeared to be extremely pathetic, especially with the fur wrap around its neck. Bat didn't know what to do with it; it just kept following him! Sure, he'd been excited at first, but the creature had proved to be a mundane companion, and perhaps even that was an overestimation.

"Come on, pony!" the maroon Lunarian shouted, all too ready to show off his mad skills. He could pick up the pony, which had been intended to carry him! He was sure that this knowledge would blow his rival Jianyu off the face of the planet. It was kind of cool.

Jianyu let out an exasperated sigh.

"My mother and sisters are idiots." he said tonelessly. "Who obviously have no concept of the phrase 'I'm not gay.' Which I'm not, and I'm especially not gay for you of all people."

Brushing off the front of his outfit and straightening out the bits that had gotten disheveled from Bataar's exuberant greeting. He still had no idea why the other Lunarian was so attached to him, and no idea why on earth he kept running into Bataar at the most inconvenient times, but it seemed like he couldn't escape him.

Also, all of this was giving Jianyuu a rather large headache. He glanced over at the sad looking pony, which was standing a few feet away, munching on a patch of grass and looking extraordinarily bored with its life.

"Bataar." he said exasperatedly. "Do not do anything to that poor creature. It obviously looks like it's about to die. And why do you keep shivering? It's not that cold out."

That was technically a lie, because the wind made the temperature several degrees less than actually was, but Jianyu was not all that opposed to the cold, so it wasn't bothering him.

Bataar grinned at Jianyu as he spoke, absently wrapping his arms around himself in an attempt to maintain his body heat. "You don't gotta be so defensive." he taunted, looking especially amused. It was true that he actually assumed the Legionnaire wasn't gay, but he wasn't going to let that tidbit get out. He'd do whatever he wanted in order to get on this guy's nerves; it was just... fun, Bat supposed.

His eyes strayed back to his pony and he huffed. "Fine." he conceded, agreeing not to harass the poor animal. "...But I can pick it up." he added in a mutter, his lips forming into an unbecoming little pout. Not showing off his super-amazing strength was something Bat considered to be a bit of a tragedy, after all.

Shivering? Him? Bataar glanced down at his bare biceps and was surprised to observe goosebumps, changing the texture of his usually smooth skin.

"I am not cold." the Mongol objected. Manly men didn't get cold!

"I am not defensive." Jianyu snapped, glaring at Bataar, who was grinning and looking amused. Jianyu brought his hands up, massaging his temples. What is it about this guy that always gives me such a headache?

The Mongol was looking a bit put out that he wouldn't get to show off his "super strength." With that pout and that mumble, he looked just like a little kid, and Jianyu sighed, shaking his head. He walked over to Bataar, reaching up to pat his head like one would do to a child.

"I'm sure you can." Jianyu said placatingly. "However, the poor creature looks like it's about to die, so let's leave it alone, shall we?"

There were goosebumps rippling up and down Bataar's strong arms, though the statement he declared was contradictory.

"Oh, for heaven's sake, Bataar."

Walking back over to the tree, Jianyu leaned down, picking up a piece of folded cloth. He made his way back over to the other Lunarian and shook open the cloth to reveal a simple dark blue cloak. Jianyu had brought it along with him just in case the weather decided to change course, but it seemed he would not need it now. He reached out, flipping the cloak over Bataar's shoulders, securing the fastenings around his neck.

"Stop acting so tough." Jianyu scolded as he worked. "There's nothing wrong with being cold."

It was Bat's belief that Jianyu was definitely defensive, but he decided not to chase the issue. After all, the Legionnaire would probably only give him an earful that he didn't want or need all because of a few choice comments. Besides, he didn't want to completely alienate the other man; it wasn't as if Bataar had many lasting friendships, and while this couldn't exactly be referred to as a good relationship, it was one of the very few that the Mongol possessed. Who else could he beat up for no good reason?

"It kind of looks alive to me." Bat observed, frowning at the shaggy little creature who was still panting from the ascent up the hill. The poor thing was probably rather unlucky to have the maroon Lunarian as its owner, especially seeing as he hadn't even bothered to name it. He was still kind of angry that he was having to sleep outside while Odval resided in his cleaned-out yurt, after all. He hadn't taken very nicely to her gifts.

Bat was not about to admit just how much he was freezing his a** off on the top of this hill with the wind blowing viciously and his fur wrap given to the pathetic little pony. He managed what could only be described as a confused glare in Jianyu's direction as he fetched the cloak.

"What are you--?" he demanded, flushing as Jianyu put the cloak on him. The warmth it offered felt good, but he didn't want to admit any weakness to the cold. Mongolians weren't even supposed to get cold with the winter they had to endure annually! "I told you, I really am not cold." he declared, looking faintly flustered. From what he was saying, he knew he should be unfastening the cloak and shoving it back at the Legionnaire, but the fact of the matter was that he was absolutely freezing.

"Are too." Jianyu said calmly as he pulled one side of the cloak tighter, trying to knot it. "You're shivering, idiot."

The flush that crossed Bataar's face was surprising. He seemed flustered somehow, and even more surprising was the fact that the other Lunarian didn't just rip the cloak off and throw it to the ground in protest. Which, after all, was a typical Bataar thing to do. Jianyu had expected it, or at least some snide comments.

But...there was none, except a not even all that strong protest. Jianyu finished tying the cloak, his gloved hands resting on the knot as he raised his gaze to meet Bataar's.

"There." he said quietly. "Keep it on. You'll be warm now."

There were no objections the muscular man could really make anymore; it was clear that Jianyu was aware that he was cold, and the more intelligent voices in his head were signalling that he should keep the cloak on, if only for the sake of warmth. He had his pride, yes, but he could beat up Jianyu later-- if he said anything about this. That seemed like a reasonable idea.

"I'm not cold," the Mongol started off, frowning, his eyes locked on the Legionnaire. "...but thank you." he mumbled, leaning down to briefly press his lips to Jianyu's cheek.

Bataar made sincere, nice moves all the time; they just weren't often noticeable. This, though, was one of those things he'd decided to pick up from observance-- after all, it had looked fairly effective when he'd seen it in action, but he wasn't sure. He would have kissed Jianyu on the lips, but last time he'd done that he'd been thrown unmercifully out onto the street. He'd vowed to be a little more careful from then on, too. While he would take any chance he could to try and murder the guy right in front of him, he was faintly afraid of anything relating to castration.

He had to protect the family jewels.

"You're welcome." Jianyu said quietly, still looking up at the other Lunarian. Bataar's voice was muffled slightly, and he was uncharacteristically quiet. Jianyu frowned, opening his mouth to say something just as Bataar bent down, his warm lips brushing across Jianyu's cheek.

Instantly Jianyu's face painted scarlet and he pushed away from Bataar, one hand flying up to touch his cheek as he stumbled backwards. His heart was pounding erratically hard in his chest, a feeling he had not experienced before and one that confused him to no end.

"Y - you..." Jianyu managed to get out, then stopped. "Why...did you just do that?"

Oh, s**t.

He'd done something wrong, hadn't he? That was about all Bat had the wit to assume, and he was not about to face the consequences for doing something offensive, especially when he had no idea what he'd done. All he knew was that he must have triggered Jianyu's temper or something; the Legionnaire had turned a bright shade of red and had backed up. Was he going to try and throw a punch?

It took him a few drawn-out moments to figure out Jianyu was talking about the kiss. But it was just on the cheek! Bataar frowned, trying to find a good explanation for his actions.

"...'cause I felt like it." he at last replied, his voice tinged with obstinance. Here he was, thinking he'd done something nice and appreciative and all Jianyu could do was look at him with horror! Why, he even smelled nicely today! Odval had forced him to bathe as of late, much to his chagrin.

Jianyu's face was tingling slightly. He still held one hand up to his cheek, his fingers light on his warm skin, still flushed with embarrassment.

"You..." Jianyu said. "You don't just go around kissing people. You should save that for someone you actually like."

He studiously ignored the fact that while it had been both surprising and unexpected, it had not exactly been unpleasant. Jianyu swallowed hard, then narrowed his eyes.

"Besides," he added, trying to sound calm. "I only gave you that cloak so you wouldn't freeze to death. If you die, I can't kill you myself, and that wouldn't be any fun."

Bataar watched Jianyu, tilting his head in faint curiosity once he'd gotten over most of his embarrassment; it was easier to observe the situation now that he wasn't so flustered himself. He frowned at the other Lunarian's statement, shaking his head in evident objection to it. "You can't tell me what to do!"

He stabbed a finger in the legionnaire's direction, looking rather enraged. "But at least you know that I don't actually like you." he added with a haughy air about him. He honestly wasn't sure to make of his hate of Jianyu; it wasn't really an all-consuming thing, now that he considered it, especially seeing as the other man was one of his few acquaintances that didn't run away the moment he saw Bat.

The flush returned to his cheeks the moment Jianyu stated his reasoning behind giving him the cloak. "What?!" he roared, looking altogether furious at the suggestion that the legionnaire would be the one to kill him. "I'm going to kill you!" he declared, as if it were the most logical conclusion in the world.
