Midnight Shadow closed her eyes as she wandered away from the safety of her human's village. She wandered as far as she could until she reached the small stream several miles away from the village and she turned and looked back at it. Shaking her head, she pawed at the ground nervously. Her human had started talk that she was getting too old to be finding a mate-too old for mating and having children. She wasn't really that old but her human was starting to doubt that she would ever find a stallion that would love her and stay with her as a mate. Midnight Shadow was starting to believe her human lately. Maybe it was because of all of the talk that her human was doing around the village about her. Maybe it was because her human was trying to barter with another Soquili's human to have her mate with their stallion.
She shook her head again and stamped her hoof into the stream. Why did she have to rely on her human to help her find a mate? Shouldn't that be her job and hers alone? She sighed as she let her lets fold up under her body and she gently laid down on the edge of the stream. She stared at her reflection with a hint of curiosity. She did seem to be older than she thought that she was. Maybe she was getting up in her years and should find a mate to love sooner rather than later. She closed her eyes again and let her head hover a few inches away from the ground. Hopefully she would be calmer to go back to the village in a few hours.

The dark stallion followed a stream while having no real destination in mind. Every now and then he'd shake his head to chase his wild locks out of his face. He'd been so bored lately, and if felt like nothing he did could cure his boredom. Of course, spending his day following a simply stream wasn't helping either.
Or, was it?
Acidic green eyes locked on to a figure up ahead that appeared to be sleeping. A very feminine figure. If this truly was a mare, then his day just got a bit brighter.
What better cute for anything than the company of a woman?

[ooc: sorry about the delay. was going to post yesterday but then I got caught up in chores and my internet went down for the rest of the day ^^;] Midnight Shadow didn't know how long she had been staring down at the stream for but it had been quite some time. The only thing that had startled her away from her own reflection was the sound of muffled hoofbeats that slowly got louder and louder. She slowly stood up and turned around and saw a young stallion heading her way. She blushed slightly and looked down at the ground. Surely this young stallion wasn't heading towards an old maid. Maybe he had spotted another mare inside of the forest that flanked the stream. Yes, that was probably it. He had spotted the younger mare and was now on his way to greet her. She shuffled slightly over a few inches and lowered her head down a little bit. There was no reason for her to get in the way of the stallion who was clearly on a mission to attract a mate.

As the stallion neared the mare, he began to slow. There was no doubt in his mind that his company would be welcomed. Why wouldn't his company be welcomed? He was handsome, charming, and never unfriendly to a mare that didn't somehow deserve it. Those mares generally being Kalonas or Skinwalkers.
"Lovely day," his lips twisted into a confident smirk, "don't you think?"

When the stallion slowed down to a stop in front of her, she looked around to see if there were any other mares around her. After a few seconds of looking, she realized that the stallion had been heading towards her all this time. She blushed a little darker crimson color when the stallion began to talk to her.
She looked in his direction and smiled warmly at him. "Hello," she said in a slightly shy tone of voice. "Yes, it is a very lovely day." She arched her neck slightly and pawed at the ground lightly before taking a few steps closer to the stallion. "I am Midnight Shadow...and you are?"

"Name's Hermes," replied with a practiced shake of his head, each strand of his multicolored mane falling into place for a rugged look that he found most mares couldn't resist. His acidic green eyes took the opportunity too look over the mare, and he didn't bother to try and disguise the action. After all, no matter what could be said about him, he was an honest man. He never hid his intentions from those he encountered.
"That's an interesting name," his green eyes lingered on her blue ones, such a lovely shade they were, and practically purred out her name, "Midnight Shadow."

Midnight Shadow couldn't help but to giggle at the stallion as he shook his mane slightly, changing the position of it. She watched him as he eyed her carefully with his bright green eyes. She normally wouldn't fall for these type of stallions but his warm personality kept her near him (and the stream). She blushed a little bit more when he said that her name was interesting.
"Thanks...my human gave it to me when he found me," she said to him. She didn't want to tell him that she didn't have any family at all when the human had found him but it was pretty clear from her statement that she had been found alone.

"That was nice of him," replied the dark stallion while gauging the mare's reaction to his presence. So far, she seemed to welcome his presence. Not a surprise there, why wouldn't a mare welcome his presence and attention?
He glanced to the stream, his gaze lingering on their reflections. In the back of his mind, he noted that the mare's eyes were the same lovely shade of blue as the water. Such lovely eyes could be used as a weapon for snaring any stallion's heart. He may have to watch his step with this mare. But...
His gaze sliced back to the mare. "Would you like join me for a walk?"

Midnight Shadow noticed him turn his gaze towards the water. That was curious. Though she wasn't used to being around her kind most of the time. She was a loner type of Soquili and that normally turned others away from her. Maybe that's why she was mateless. She closed her eyes for a few moments before making a decision-she would have to attempt to get used to being around her own kind or else she would be alone for the rest of her life.
She opened her eyes to find that he was staring back at her. She was startled a little bit but she didn't let that show. She smiled timidly at her before shifting her body slightly to one side. "Alright," she said, bobbing her head slightly.
