User Image Albert made his way slowly down the road, his gait just a bit off. He tried not to favor his front right hoof as he walked, but it was just difficult with the sharp spike of pain that burned its way to his shoulder any time he put it down. It wasn't broken, but he felt like he had bruised the bone. Served him right for kicking a large cougar the wrong way. Well, nothing to do about it but grit his teeth and continue to move on.

His cloak brushed the back of his hocks as it gently swayed with his movements. Even though he was injured, he still walked with most of his grace that he had learned through his years of training. It was the grace only fighters and dancers had achieved, and though he was a superb dancer, his was mainly from the fact that he had been raised with a spear at his side since he was little. Well-toned muscles rippled under his well-groomed coat with each step.

He may look rather puny, but that was only because he wished to appear that way. The element of surprise was always the best when facing new opponents. It was better to be the one giving the surprise, then the one receiving after all. Though, sometimes long journeys did dull the senses, and allow some rather crafty large cougars to sneak up on road-weary stallions. He cursed again the ill-placed kick that had send the cougar flying, and left him temporarily lamed.

User Image The nicer weather had come, and it was more frequent. Nadia found herself away from home more often now, then with the bad weather. She found it hard to converse with others, and had often found herself being left out. She wasn't a mean horse by any means, but she had a lot of confidence, and she liked no showing it off. So she was a strong and silent type. And that often scared others away from her.

She had started coming to this particular area a little while ago, and as she moved to walk from the smaller side back over the larger trail, she looked to the side only to see a stallion. He wasn't particularly familiar to her, but she could have sworn she had seen him around before. But she shrugged it off, crossing in front of him to the smaller path at the other side that would lead to the river. He had been limping, but it wasn't her business, and she wasn't about to intrude, he probably didn't want to talk anyways.

He lifted his head as the breeze shifted and carried a scent to him. It belonged to another soquili, and the scent indicated that it wasn't that far away. Cautiously, he looked around, not knowing whether it was friend or foe, and in no shape to have to defend himself from another attack today. He spied instead a rather remarkable mare, with a pale body and cranberry-colored stripes down her back legs. She looked at him for a moment, and then continued across the road.

He didn't think ill of the mare. Maybe she was used to finding trouble on the road and didn't want to invite any more. Maybe she was rude and thought him beneath her. Maybe she was having a bad day, and just didn't care about stranger. He didn't know her story, so he would not judge her by her choice to pass him by, but there was one thing he needed. As the breeze had shifted, he had also picked up the smell of water. And though he could take the time to find it, it would be easier to ask, and he was feeling rather thirsty.

Clearing his throat, he took a tentative step towards her. Excuse me. I'm sorry to bother you, but ou wouldn't by chance know where there was a pond or a stream nearby that i could take a drink from would you?

Nadia was in mid step with the stallion spoke to her. She stepped back and glanced over. She smiled at him, and nodded. He seemed pleasant enough. She turned to face him, and she it was then that she noticed he seemed to be a bit troubled physically. She slowly walked toward him, more curious about his injury then helping him find water, but that was not what was asked of her.

She shook her head a little and looked up at him. "There's a river from the direction I was just coming from. It's pretty clean but you'll want to go up stream just a little more to avoid a muddy taste."

She could have sworn she had seen him around... "Would you like me to take you?" She was starting to fill up with questions, but she had to regain her herself. That was it, she had recognized him because of his armor! She had seen him around, and she had always wanted talk with him.

He nodded to her pleasantly. I would appreciate that greatly, if you would not mind going back the way you have come. If it is inconvenient though, I will make the journey myself. She seemed like a nice enough mare. She looked vaguely familiar, but he wasn't sure from whence he had seen her. There was time enough to ask later. At the moment, he really just wanted to rest his foot a bit.

It had been a rather good deed. Some foal had gotten too far away from his mother, and was going to be a meal for a hungry predator. He had galloped hard too get to the foal in time, and had heard it run of neighing in fright as it finally saw the cougar approaching. he doubted the foals mother even knew what danger her foal had gotten into. At least she still had her child.

He slowly started making his way in the direction that was indicated, as he knew if she wished to come, the striped mare could easily catch up to his halting pace. He felt old at the moment, though he wasn't that much. His ears drooped a bit in exhaustion, then perked slightly at the thought of a brief rest.

Nadia smiled some. At first she thought it might be best for her not to go. But then she ended up going with him anyways. She kept eyeballing his leg wondering if the leaf ointment her dad taught her about would help him. It wouldn't hurt to try. "What happened to your leg?" She asked quietly, hoping he wouldn't mind the question. She hoped it was a good story, something that she could ask him further about. Not that she wished any harm on him. That would be wrong, but an adventure...
