Derecho was in fine fettle this morning - life had returned to its previous state of bliss after he made up with Terreis. YMCA was a fine place to live when personal drama didn't play into things - though as far as he knew poor Aleu was still struggling. If she didn't manage to corner the whelp soon Derecho really would end up having to hold him down for her!

Which when he thought about it sounded like a pretty fun time, he'd have to remember to suggest it to her again when he spoke to her next. In the meantime he was on the lookout for Terreis - she'd gone off early this morning on boarder patrol and been gone longer then normal. Derecho wasn't worried persay - I mean surely she wouldn't up and leave him again now would she? Nah...she'd seemed well not particularly happy lately and maybe a bit lower then normal but he chalked that up getting used to sharing a den the last little while. he was forever telling him he fidgeted to much at night and drove her nuts.

Whatever. Trotting along the riverbank a familiar coat appeared up ahead and breaking into a lope he made his way towards her "Sleeping on the job are we?" He teased her as he skid to a stop. "I hope you haven't subjugated one of the shy members into doing your work for you!" He further teased - obviously unaware of her current mood.

"Who got burrs in your tail?" He responded with an arched brow and quickly soured tone. Females! Here he had been having a great morning and Terreis in typical female fashion was going to set about ruining it for him.

Ignoring her snarls he flopped down on the riverbed "An their not worthless...they just contribute to the pack in different ways - and they all have reasons for the way they are." He continued defensively - they were wolves he'd grown up with his entire life after all. He also ignored her question about whatever duties he should be doing which of course answered that question just as well as if he'd bothered to spin an elaborate lie about it.

Derecho snorted slightly though it was more in amusement now then in anger "Just good bloodlines I suppose" He told her in smug voice, and in reality he wasn't far from the truth - by what his mother had told him his grandfather - also an alpha hadn't exactly been the friendliest of beasts, it was no small wonder that Derecho derived from such a bloodline would wind up both temperamental and dominant as well.

"However I fail to see just how I got under your skin this morning" He continued. As far as he could recall he hadn't done anything particularly annoying before she left on patrol.

"Contrary to the rules of 'Terreis World'...someone disagreeing with you doesn't automatically mean their stupid" Derecho retorted, letting his eyes droop halfway closed - it was a nice sort of spot for a nap - even if Terreis was being difficult, the water rushing by was quite soothing - it almost drowned out her nagging voice as she went on and on about something he'd done to upset her a while ago and questioning the quality of their future puppies.

"you'll be lucky if they do" He told her with a large yawn. "And I hope their all male too - just in case your female sense of entitlement is hereditary" He continued even though he was pretty sure that comment would get a rise out of her. Whatever she'd been snappish with him since he arrived so he was snappy right back. He was pretty sure everyone else in the pack must think they hated each other, though that was far from true, tey'd all probably die from shock if hey were nice to one another all the time. It was pretty clear however that Derecho was still unaware of Terreis' condition - chalking up her puppy comments to future speak.

Derecho ignored Terreis as she spun about on him - she did that often enough that it just wasn't all that threatening anymore - he was pretty sure she was bluffing anyways. After she'd calmed down he gave her a slight inviting smile "Well then come down here and have a na.." He started to say before she so rudely interrupted him by shoving her face into his and yelling at him.

It took a few seconds for her words to sink in and when they did Derecho stilled, he didn't even breath as he wrapped his mind about what she had said. Letting out the breath he'd been holding he stared at her for a few moments - and couldn't help the slightly smug grin that tried to lift th corners of his mouth - though he tried very hard to keep it under wraps given Terreis' current mood. "Puppies you say?" He finally stated when he flt e had the smug look under control. "As in..your already..." His eyes ticked towards her stomach.

"I see" He responded as she confirmed the news after pulling away from him. He was at somewhat of a loss now - he thought the news was great and inwardly felt himself doing flips of joy...but Terreis was clearly not feeling the same way. This was not a time to be flippant or smug, mot of their bickering was done in good nature it was true - it just worked for them and their relationship bu there were times to put such things aside and he thought that maybe - just maybe - this was one of those times.

Running his muzzle along the patchy colored fur of her side to huff slightly at her stomach for a second he pulled himself a few inches closer to her and lay his head close to her. "Are you not...happy?" He finally ventured softly after a few moments of silence.

"Well no...maybe?" Derecho sighed slightly. He'd been mostly basing his ideas that she wasn't happy on her current temper, but now that she'd brought it up...were Antianeira wolves happy about puppies? H wasn't even sure how they accomplished having them...they didn't seem the type to fall in love with their slaves. Was it more of a duty? Somehow this moment didn't seem like the right time to ask for clarification. "You just didn't seem pleased with the news" He clarified and then before she could get angry again and fuss at him about what he'd said he continued.

"But I can see why now that you've explained it" Of course Terreis would be unhappy about about the conditions being pregnant would place on her activity level. she worked entirely to hard as far as Derecho was concerned. "but don't think of it as being useless...just thank of it as a new job, with different requirements" He suggested.
