Sayuri yawned and streached out. The sand under her paws was warm this early morning, and the sky was streaked with radiant purples and blues. The sun was just starting to rise, it's rays shimmering over the deep blue lake. Today was going to be hot, she concluded, but right now the air was light and cool. She sat upright. The day was beautiful, but not as precious as the treasure she carried with her, life. It had been such a short time ago that she met Shiro. Everything seemed to be happening so fast, yet she still took moments like these to marvel at the wonder of it all.

Shiro was wide awake and ready for his morning stroll. Alone. Half of him hated company and half of him loved it. Shiro had never been satisfied or pleased for long. He used his nose to sniff out strangers, so as to avoid them. He snarled a the sun as it started to rise ever so slowly, and as he did so he felt his paws sink into the soft, moist soil beneath him.
He was disgusted with himself when he could't sniff out Sayuri, and growled at the thought of it. She smelt of flowers and the forest, the best natural scents around, but Shiro knew he couldn't be angry with himself for ever.
She was patient and kind with him, and it did make him as a whole smile from the inside out.

Sayuri sniffed the air for approching Shakaiyo, she caught Shiro's sent on a faint breeze. Happily she stood up and trotted off in the direction of the scent. Shiro wasn't very popular with other Shakaiyo, Sayuri had noticed. Others just didn't seen to understand him, and just labeled him as a outsider. She could see that he was just misunderstood, and felt connected to him in a way that she guessed not many other Shakaiyo had been. She cringed as a sharp pain was released when she moved the wrong way. Over the past few weeks she had been carful not to move too quickly, but every so often she slipped. Shiro's scent was stronger now, and she knew she woul see him just over the hill.

Shiro ears perked up as he herd a few twigs snapping on the ground, not to far away. To him that meant company that he didn't want, but he couldn't smell them and then it hit him, the only person it could be would be Sayuri.
Shiro turned the opposite direction and started walking off, he knew she was looking for him, but he wondered why. He suddenly stopped and turned to see her in his sights now,"oh...it's you. Hello Sayuri. What business do you have here today and to what do I owe the pleasure?"
He was trying to be nice, he gave her a quick nod encouraging her to speak. Sayuri was the only one who wanted to understand, but only half of him wanted someone to understand. His ears swivelled round to lock on her voice and sound.

"Hi Shiro," she replied. "Just though you might need some company." As she guessed, Sayuri had found Shiro right over the next hill. For a split moment he had looked as if he were going to run away screaming. Did she smell that bad? She smiled sweetly, but still could sense that he wasn't entierly comfortable. "Do you want to go for a walk?" she asked quickly.

"Company?" He repeated her words as if he was unfamiliar with the term. "And what you went all this way to keep me company?"
Shiro smiled and paused for a second and then resumed,"A walk? I was already walking...I'm already on a walk, but you may join me on my walk if that's what you are asking Sayuri." He knew he was coming across as cold, arrogant and obnoxious, but it wasn't deliberate, only half of him was social. "Come on." His smile returned for a second or two, these seemed to be genuine, he nudged her in his direction.
"So obviously you've come back to talk too? And what would this concern?"
Shiro was fully aware of what they had previously done together, but he had put that behind him, he didn't expect her to catch up with him again, her presence was a surprise to him, but he acted as if it was nothing.
Shiro nuzzled her side and his eyes twinkled,"It is very nice to see you again Miss Sayuri." He blushed and nodded.

Sayuri was a bit shocked at the sudden change in Shiro's personality, but kept her face straight. One minute he had been a Shakaiyo she would never have talked too, and the next... She pondered this thought as she stared into Shiro's large violet eyes. She trotted up beside him and continued at a quick pace by his side. "You know why I'm here. Are you just going to leave?" She asked quitely. "They're going to be here any day..." She studied his face and hoped that his personalities wouldn't shift again.

Shiro blinked,"well that's just..." Shiro stops and turned sharply,"what did you just say?" He shook his head,"I knew it!" He glared at her, "of course I'm to going to walk away." "You're a really nice Shakaiyo Sayuri, I'd be happy to be their farther." He looked at her,"are you sure? Because if they come out and look nothing like me. You know what I'll do." He glared at her.

Sayuri started to get a little strtled, but quickly calmed herself down. This was just one of his arguments with himself. "Ok, now calm down Shiro," she said soothingly. "Of course I'm sure they're yours." She remembered his last words and almost thought of giving up. No, he's just stubborn, she reassured herself. " Give me a straight answer... You seem to be..." She trailed off, not knowing how how to finish her train of thought. She tryed to smile, but it looked weak on her face that was smeared in worry.

Shiro growled," I am calm." He glared a her, his eyes drifting over her soft features and to her stomach,"My straight answerer is that I won't leave, if you can put up with my...episodes." He met her eyes again wen she failed to finish her sentence,"Seem to be...?" He circled her once,"Sayuri, you do know it will take me a while to get over this, as you know I'm not the nicest of people, which wouldn't make me a good dad."
He blushed,"But I'll do my best, I'm sure I'll get the hang of it in the end. Dad's don't have to work as hard as mothers", he grinned and wagged his tail nuzzling her stomach. "What do you think they'll be. Boys...girls...boys and girls?" Shiro laughed lightly half of him didn't understand what he did what he did but that half thought the result was beautiful.

Sayuri smiled, feeling a little more sure of herself. "Of course I can put up with your episodes," she said to him. "were in this together." That thought brought her a surge of happiness. She was going to have a family, a real family. "I honestly don't have a clue", she said gesturing to her stomach. Hearing him laugh so lightheartily made her feel safe. "I'm sure you will be a great father"

Shiro smiled,"I'm glad. It's a new adventure, we'll see what happens and we are in it together...both our own doings...aren't you scared?" Shiro leaned against her softly to have a listen,"that's why you're fatter than the last time we met. It's like a lucky dip...okay...wow bad metaphor, but I'm sure they'll be lovely." He stopped listening to her stomach,"I know I can be...er...difficult at times, but I just want to say thanks for talking to me about this rather than running away. You really think I'll be a good farther?" He almost had a tear in his eye but to let that out would only anger his other side.
Shiro thought to himself. Oh damn...no more pretty girls to play with...or happy time. Wow everything's happening so fast, do I like Sayuri that much...so much as to start a family? I like families! I'm gonna be a dad!

This brought happiness to Sayuri's heart. Shiro was going to try, and that was all that mattered to her. "Of course you are going to be a wonderful father!" she chimed. She laughed quietly as his "bad metaphor". She moved to quickly again and a bit of a sharp pain drove up her spine, but it faded as soon as it came. She had let out a tiny cringe from the pain, but now regretted it. That would only worry Shiro. "I'm glad I came to talk to you too, and that everythigs going to work out." She smiled warmly and glanced at the sky. It was midday now and her stomach gave a slight grumble. "Lets get something to eat!"

Sayuri's wince did worry Shiro, his smiles faded and he looked worried but didn't say anything to her he wanted to ask but didn't want to be the annoying type who is always in the way, he just looked down to his paws.
His ears perked when she mentioned going to get something to eat, and he bounced back to his happy self full of energy. "Okay!" His tail began to wag.

"Ok, where to?" she asked happily. "Feel like fish? we could go over to the river...Of I know a place that has great berries" She smiled at the though of something sugary. She had loved everything sweet since she was a child. Her parents had always said she had a sweet tooth. She looked to Shiro for his reply.
