Experiment #659-e51, 4:46 am.
One week since last experiment. Subjects show no signs of brain activity. Rejuvenation tanks continue to sustain lives fully. No change in physical appearance.

Experiment #659-e52, 7:29 am.
Four days since last experiment. Nothing has worked to reanimate subjects. Hougyoku shards have been found. There may be some link to resurrection in its contents.

Experiment #659-e53, 9:16 am.
Two days since last experiment. Hougyoku shards have been tested and subjects have been exposed to it. Remarkable- subjects 3, 5, and 8 show increasing signs of brain activity.

Experiment #659-e54, 3:43 pm.
More experiments with Hougyoku shards have continued. Subjects 3 and 8 show continuing progress. With hope, reanimation may be possible within the next few days.

Experiment #659-e55, 6:14 pm.
Subject 3 has shown more brain activity than the rest. I feel that tomorrow will be the day for reanimation. It seems that the only thing working to sustain subject 3’s progress is the Hougyoku shard. More experimentation will continue for subject 3 to progress.

Experiment #659-e56, 2:22 am.
Successful harmonization with subject 3 and the Hougyoku shard. Brain activity has increased tenfold. Still no signs of self-sufficient behaviors.
Experiment #659-e57, 5:08 am.
Experiment Complete. Subject 3 has been fully reanimated.

It has been several hundred long years since experiments began to revive those of the original Gotei after being preserved after the Winter War. Up until now, these processes have met countless failures. The scientific minds of Juunibantai have finally made a breakthrough as life began to stir within the subjects with the help of the Hougyoku shards.

A sigh huffed from her lips, sending her thick red hair fluttering away from her mouth, as the girl rested her cheek on her hand, blinking slowly- as if she were tired, and she was having trouble keeping her eyes open. Which, well, it was true. The girl- Kurosawa Rin, Captain of the Tenth Division- had stayed up all night the past few, as work continued to pile on her desk. It didn't seem to be lessening at all- she'd open her eyes after a long blink such as the recent one, and it would appear to have grown, rather than shrunk, although her hand busily scrawled out her signature, tired mismatched eyes skimming for anything else she needed to fill out.
Setting down her pen, she kneaded at her aching eyes with her hands, trying to banish the exhaustion from them. "I'll go for a walk ... " she murmured suddenly, though no one else was near. She stood, tossing her head to remove the remaining red strands from her face, and left the office, swallowing a yawn. Stepping outside, the sun stung at her already aching tired eyes, but she didn't dare turn back around. The light in the office was dim compared to this- perhaps spending some time outside would wake her up a bit.

Sanzo was annoyed- there was no other way to put it. Grinding the heel of his hand into his forehead irritably, he let out a frustrated sigh and stood from his desk, taking a quick smoke break before he would be sought after again. Stepping out onto the porch, the blonde Soutaichou slid a hand into his sleeve, pulling out a pack of cigarettes and taking one graciously, using his lighter to give the stick life. Inhaling deeply before holding his breath and letting out a sigh of threaded smoke, he walked off the porch and snuck out to find some sort or reprieve.

Violet eyes looked over the path he walked with mild disinterest, mind far more active than he would have preferred. He was a bit unsettled about what was going on in Juunibantai; his firm belief was that sleeping dogs should just be let to lie there. Part of him hoped that whatever it was that they were doing was going to work, though he wasn't keeping his hopes up at all. Sanzo stopped along the wall to a division, he hadn't really bothered to check just where it was that he had chosen, and he lit up another cig, grinding out his previous with his sandal. "Looks like rain..God I hate the rain."

She glanced up as the man approached, seemingly taking no notice of the young Captain. Her mismatched eyes flickered to the sky, and it did seem that it was going to rain. The sun that had stung her eyes before had been the golden orb leering out at the world before it was banished back behind the heavy clouds that drooped with their load, that they would soon drop upon them. Rin sighed lightly. "Hmm ... Seems like it..." she commented slightly, her lips pinching into a thin line as she chomped back another yawn that threatened to give away her all-nighters for the past few days. "The rain always makes me tired ... I don't like it either." she said. Now that ... That was a lie. She did indeed dislike the rain, but not because it made her tired. Her innate distaste for water meant that heavy rain like what appeared to be coming made her unbearably restless and irritable. Brushing long strands of red hair from her face, she glanced at the man nearby again. "Is there anything you needed, Kouryuu-soutaicho?" she asked, her voice even colder than usual, her exhaustion making her tone a bit sharp.

Yuji was walking around, though he didn't know where he was. Instead of paying attention to where he was he was lost in thought. His captain had sent him to go find someone, though he couldn't remember who. Not like he was trying to remember very hard. In his right hand was a piece of paper he was suppose to give to who ever he was looking for. Without thinking he made it into a paper airplane and threw it. As he watched it fly he looked up at the sky. "It looks like rain, paper doesn't fly well rain." then what he had used to make the paper airplane hit him. "Crap!" he said as he ran trying to follow the airplane to catch it. "I'm so dead, i can't believe i did it again." he said as he desperately jumped up trying to get the airplane back.

Making a side-long glance at the young taichou, Sanzo made a noncommittal noise. He took another drag of his cigarette, exhaling slowly while continuing to gaze at the shifting clouds and graying skies. "Rain brings out the worst in people. It's a bad omen and I don't like it." The soutaichou's steely gaze traveled to the paper plane coasting through the sky and shook his head. If he had a little bit less responsibility, he would probably do the same. "You know, those fly so much better in a clear sky."

Finishing his smoke break, the violet-eyed shinigami stretched, cracking his back in the process. "Kurosawa, the only thing I'd ask for you to do is get those crazy Juuniibantai off my case. It's like babysitting a bunch of damned toddlers the way they run about." Heaving a sigh, he turned to go back to work, but was stopped by someone calling his name.

"Sanzo-soutaichou! We've done it! We've done it! Come see!" A group of shinigami ran up, all wearing the same white smock- a tell-tale sign of being cannon fodder for 12th division.

Rolling his eyes, Sanzo's expression remained one of annoyance. "What did I tell you? Speak of the damned.." Addressing the small group anyway, he listened to them exuberantly explain what was going on.

"Soutaichou, it's unbelievable! We've successfully resurrected the first of the surviving Gotei!"

Rin sighed, she knew that much was true. Rain ... Was there anyone truly fond of such a thing? It was drear and depressing ... And she hated how restless it made her. With a slightly annoyed expression, she watched the paper airplane fly, but didn't say anything. She listened only vaguely to the Soutaichou, her eyes half closed with her exhaustion. The bags that sagged beneath them stood out prominently on her pale skin, though she hadn't noticed them yet. "Well, it seems like they're coming ... " she murmured, only seconds before the group of Juunibantai members appeared. She regarded them with a less than interested look, until they mentioned a success. "A success?" her tone more incredulous than it was really meant to be. "You actually succeeded? Which one?" she queried coolly, folding her thin arms across her chest.

Yuji jumped up one last time and almost got the airplane, but a slight wind came and blew it up. He knew that it was lost, so he didn't bother to try again. "Yeah, but they don't fly to bad with a dark sky ether," he said watching it fly away, not realizing who he was talking to. All that was going through his head was 'crap, Taichou is going to kill me' over and over again. He saw guys from squad 12 come over, and it was then that he realized who he was around- and his new thought was 'crap i didn't show good respect...again' or at lest that was what he was thinking until he heard their conversation. "You really did it? no way!" he said, sounding a little excited. He never thought they would really be able to do it. "Do you think i could go with you to see?" The way he figured it, he not only forgot who he was looking for, but lost the paper he was suppose to give them. If he went back now, his Taichou would kill him..if he goes back later after some fun, he will still be killed. So why not go and see the success if he could?

There was a slight shuffling sound behind Sanzo, the sound of reed sandaled footsteps drawing closer to the combine group of soul reapers. The source of the footfalls was a tall, but plain man with dark grey, almost storm cloud hair that hung in his eyes, obscuring them from veiw, not that it mattered. The man could not see, though if one were to sweep aside that hair, it would reveal a pair of lightly grayed eyes. A simple gray scarf was wrapped around his neck and draped over his shoulders.
The man was Echigo Kotsuke, the current Captain of the ninth squad, or the Kyuubantai. Kotsuke, a Soft spoken individual, had been blind since birth, but most knew not to underestimate him because his other senses were heightened by his lack of eyesight. He stopped a few meters from the group, and with a slight nod of a greeting, he spoke," ...Sorry if I am late for anything..."

The Juunibantai members looked almost uncertainly amongst each other, not quite sure if they should answer with so many people around. "Well..you see..Morioka-taichou will probably want to tell you that himself."

Sanzo rubbed at his temples, growling in frustration. This was one thing he hated about being in charge. " All right, listen up! I'm not going to repeat myself.. Everyone report to Juunibantai if they want to see. I don't give two shits if you show or not, so whatever." He turned heel and started walking toward their domain, interested as to who had been awoken first. 'Please let it be someone in charge..'

The first thing Kira noticed when he woke up was that he was cold and wet. His head was reeling, he was exhausted, and he had no idea where he was. The last thing he remembered was fighting Aizen, then a blinding flash of light before waking up here. "Wh-where am I?" His voice was hoarse, like he'd not talked in ages.

Ritsuka observed the confused man with a pleased grin, nearly dancing in place at his complete success. Looking over to nearby members, he ordered them to do various things while he consulted the blonde. He had quite a few things to tell him about the years that he had missed. He had sent for Sanzo-soutaichou as soon as Kira had awaken, wanting terribly to converse with the fukutaichou, but knowing that he needed to wait. So there he stood, pacing about impatiently, munching on a lollipop while he waited.

Echigo sighed, shaking his head slowly. He would now have to make his way to the Juunibantai barracks and labs. Did Sanzo not realize he was blind, and making his way around the soul society was troublesome for echigo. With yet another sigh, the blind captain looked toward the other soul reapers. He decided to try and find his way to the division himself.

Somewhere in Sanbantai, the laid-back captain Hibiki Mikoto was laying in the lush green grass of her division's gardens. She knew not of anything that was going on at the moment. Not because she wasn't informed, but because she didn't budge to become informed. Her mind was elsewhere at the moment, as it always was. All she knew was that Juunibantai was working on something to do... something. The redhead didn't bother with the details to often. If she knew more details, then she figured she'd be roped into more paperwork later down the line. This was something Mikoto did not want.

As she lounged, the wind blew gently causing her permanently misplaced hair to bounce comically as she whistled a tune into the air. She was relaxing right now and it felt great~

Waiting for the soutaichou to take the lead, the Juunibantai members followed suit, trailing his footsteps. A few of them talked quietly between themselves before splitting off and going to various divisions to spread the word of their taichou's success. One of them so happened to make her way over to Sanbantai, knowing that the woman would want to be involved. Being pointed in the right direction, she went out to the gardens and bowed deeply to her* "Hibiki-taichou-san? Soutaichou has an announcement to make and would like your presence in Junibantai's laboratories."

Sanzo trudged into the scientific division's labs, a cloud of irritance following him in his wake. Finding the flamboyantly colored taichou bouncing around the room like an ADHD-addled child, he pulled out his harisen, promptly hitting the other across the back of the head. "Oi! Cut that out, ya spaz.." Storing the large white fan back wherever the blonde kept it, he watched the taichou, eye twitching in annoyance. "What was it that you dragged me out here for?"

Ritsuka was deep in though, pacing around the room to help get his creative juices flowing when he was promptly sent forward, holding his head from the impact. "I-itai~!!! Soutaichou, you're so grumpy today!" He crossed his arms, playful expression turning into a frown. Watching the violet-eyed commander's expression go from one of irritance to one of rage in seconds, he decided it was best to quickly get to the point. "The reason you're here is right in the next room, recuperating. I've not talked to him myself yet, because I'm not sure of the repercussions. My calculations point to a neutral reaction, but the mind is something that still baffles me. Shall I wait to go on when I have more of an audience?"

Mikoto's moment of peace was interrupted by the cannon fodder of Juunibantai was obviously sent this way to pull her into the lab that she tried her best to avoid. Hanging with scientists was not an enjoyable activity... at all. Opening on violet eye and fixing it on the person who dared to interrupt her moment of nothingness, she sighed.

"Since it's the soutaichou asking for my attendance," she resigned rolling backward over her shoulders and stood. After straightening her appearance, minus the unruly ahoge, she gestured with her arm. "Lead the way."

During the walk, the woman wondered what was so damned important that she had to be there too. If anyone knew the redhead taichou, they'd know that she doesn't favor Juunibantai anymore than she favors doing large amounts of paperwork. So she hoped this was worth her sacrificing her refreshment time.

Leading the annoyed taichou to the labs, the Juunibantai member bowed out and quickly left after the woman was united with her coworkers.

Looking around the room at everyone that had gathered, Ritsuka flaired his arms dramatically and addressed the crowd. "As you all are aware, we've been working on this little project for quite a long time and have met with nothing but failures. Now, it is my great pleasure to announce that my experiment was a success! I have successfully embedded shards of the Hougyoku that have been recovered with the surviving members of the legendary Gotei. Only one has awakened, but others are sure to follow in due time. He's still unaware of what has happened, but I thought it best that everyone were here to solidify what we tell him." Looking over the small crowd, the pink-haired taichou spotted Mikoto and smiled, giving her a small wink. "Ahh, the lovely Sanbantai-taichou-san~ I was so hoping that you would come. You are a very important part of this, as well, as you are to be one of the first that goes to talk with him. Soutaichou, Hibiki-taichou, I will let you have the honors." He motioned to a room off to the side of where they had all gathered, ushering them in.

Sanzo listened, irked that the young taichou had yet to tell him exactly who had awoken, but let him blather on. That is, until he was led into the dimly-lit room where Kira lay. The soutaichou was instantly on guard, still getting an eerie feeling at the fukutaichou being, well, alive. "Hnn..I'm not very good at all this sentiment bull s**t, so I'll let you talk."

The blonde remained laying down, though he could have just as easily sat up to show proper respect. Not recognizing the voices drifting through the door, he waited for them to do the talking. He was so confused and had so many questions, even though he couldn't really form them into intelligible sentences. When they got into his view, fatigued azure eyes looked the figures over, all wearing the traditional captain's haori, and he frowned. He didn't recognize any of them..
