Darkest exhales a sigh as she looks down at the remains of the carcass. It hadn't been much. All the animals here were skin and bones. So was she for that matter; her ribs could be easily seen, her coat was dusty and dull, and as much as she hated it her hair was tangled with small branches. It was the lean season here and everyone was suffering including her.
She moves a distance off from the carcass, to one be upwind of it and two to allow the scavengers what little nourishment they could glean from it. The herd had broken up several moons ago to find new territory far away from the ones that hunted them. She didn't even know if her newest basket had been a colt or filly. The basket was safely with Frozen and Deceitful while she and Quiet had led the attackers on a merry chase of rough terrain.
The chase had tired her more than she wanted to admit. Sometimes she envied the ability of other soquili to eat grass. Not that there's much of That here either. Her lip curls up in distaste at the thought of eating grass. She'd take lean meat any day. With a huge sigh the black mare lowers herself to the ground. A nap, just a small one, then I'll be on my way. There's nothing hospitable here for my herd.

It was the sound of pure natural music that filled ears of the white winged Angeni; her long blond mane wrapping around her, tickling the mare and making her smile. The world around her was peaceful, a fact that brought joy to the Angeni of Peace. In her joyous mood, she danced across the plane, her wings taking her off the ground ever so slightly, and then dropping her back down again with a silent thud. Heiwa’s laughter echoed throughout the land, as she danced beneath the clouds and above the flowers that covered the ground in an array of color.
Soon her dancing brought her to a field that was barren in animals and in green lush grass; at the sight her heart sank at the lack of the beautiful flowers or chatting animals. Her emerald eyes skimmed over the terrain, soon her gaze rested upon a dark sleeping figure on the brown colored earth. With a slight spring in her step, Heiwa made her way to the dark colored Soquili, her countenance containing a smile that reached her eyes.
The being that sleep appeared to a Kalona in some way, but entirely different than that breed in certain aspects unknown to the Angeni mare, since she had only heard of them and never met one face to face. In a sing song like voice, the Angeni spoke out loud to the sleeping dark mare, “Hello there.”

Out of the depths of sleep the pitch black mare lungs to her feet and snaps her teeth at the sound of the voice before she's even fully awake. Just cause she was sleeping didn't mean she was defenseless. She gives a warning growl not to come closer as she blinks the sleep from her solid gold eyes.
As the last reminiscence of sleep clears away Darkest sees a soquili facing her. Her ears flick back and around to be sure she hasn't been surrounded. No noise, meant it was only her and the other. On close inspection the other had two.... Two?! wings to her one. Did that mean she was a better flier?
Her tail lashes back and forth in irritation at this unknown. Ears laid back and wings spread aggressively. Those claws on the elbows were quite sharp. "What do you want?" the black mare asks suspiciously.

Heiwa waited patiently for the mare to fully arouse herself from her deep slumber under the warm summer sun. The beautiful day reminded Heiwa of peace, of how the world could be if everyone showed acceptance to those they would normally ignore. A smile was constantly on the continence of the light colored mare, her blue eyes sparkling with acceptance; that look was now locked upon the dark colored mare standing alert before her.
“I want to talk to you of course,” Heiwa gives the suspicious mare a larger grin than the one that she usually wore, “You seemed like a fascinating mare, who enjoys the little things. I am deeply sorry for interrupting your suntime nap, but I wanted to talk to you and introduce myself.” She was unfazed by the tone of the strange winged mare, “Hello, I’m Heiwa, may I ask what you are called?”
