The Other moderators and myself just received a message today from the site mods in complaints to the "New Communist Guild Opens" thread. As a moderator of this guild it is my job to enforce against such threads that violate Gaia's terms of service. They said if it happens again the MCS will be shut down and nobody would want that. So don't post stuff like that anymore.

Mods do strange things at times. I remember getting reported for the silliest reasons. They picked my non-trolly posts over my REAL troll posts to ban my other accounts with.
Still.... huh?

I will take another look at the ToS.

I think the guy was legit. And yes thank you, I meant the "New Anti-Communist guild opens" thread. They bagged us for planning a "raid" The message sent to me reads as follows:

If you do not cease all such attempts at using your guild as a planning space for raids on other guilds and forums, your guild will be shut down, and another warning will be placed on your account.

Heh, someone must of reported it. The private guild that I am in does a few "raids" and we have yet to get banned.

OK, cool. It would suck majorly if, in addition to this, it was based on some thread which no one has any memory of being posted 6 months ago... But that happens all the time in ED-P, so I was prepared for that to be the case now.

I am no longer a mod, but I doubt anyone that is a current mod, nor for that matter, anyone in the guild, have made 'infractions of a sexual nature' and it is an insult to the guild to insunuate such.

Would you be able to post the entire content of the PM in a quote? I'd like to question this mod about the whole thing. This is a disgusting black mark which is wholly underserved and reflects nothing other than spurious complaints on the part of the complainant and a complicity of the moderators in what can be called an anti-communist frame-up.

Good luck to you, but I have a history of being utterly ignored when questioning or querying for further information on mod decisions, even though all their PM's include a friendly reminder you can ask them.

This is what I plan on sending:

Looking through the thread, which appears to have subsequently been deleted (though I might simply be overlooking it in the thread list), there was nothing of that nature. The most one could say is that one member of the guild sought posts that were politically embarrassing made by the people you would say are the target of this behaviour. I asked this person to re-post said embarrassing posts in the MCS, but nowhere was there talk of making "pornographic, threatening, embarrassing, hateful, racially or ethnically insulting, libelous, or otherwise inappropriate messages," least of all the ones you highlighted.

This is important because it sets a precedent for other forums of the site, that quoting what someone has said can be classed as a violation of the ToS if they do not like what hte implications of the quote are. This may simply be moderator oversight, where you didn't actually read the thread in question, and took the complaint at face value. If so, I'd appreciate it if you reviewed your previous decision and removed this black mark against the guild and its moderators.

Finally, where do you get off, firstly making such a warning, and then saying "Further infractions of a sexual nature may escalate into a ban from the site, either for a temporary or permanent amount of time." "Further?" What further? There have been no infractions, much less any of a sexual nature. You give the guild and its moderators a black mark, then have the gall accusing us of what can only be deemed sexual harrassment? If there was any possible reality to this you would have sent a message to the account in question and they would be named. This not being the case, this can be construed as nothing other than libel, something the ToS is against. This guild and its members are known for their very vocal opposition to all forms of sexual harrassment and oppression. This accusation that the guild has engaged in 'infractions of a sexual nature' is nothing other than an unfounded attack on the moral standing of the guild. This can be taken as nothing other than a frame-up and an attempt to undermine the reputation of the guild as a prelude to shutting it down. This is absolutely abhorent. While well within the rights of the owners of the site to set whatever rules they wish, there are, as yet, no points in the ToS about being a communist.

As a member of this guild, I demand you remove this black mark against the guild and apologise to the guild for this attack on its reputation and public standing.

I am slightly shocked but mostly angry.

This is more proof that the most of their warnings are copy-pastas given out the minute someone presses the report button. I betcha the most of the threads CB-ed, accounts banned, reports, ect are a product of a mod not reading the whole thing. confused
