Why was it that she often found herself lost, not even a mile into any forest she had the luck to come across? It wasn't that she was directionally challenged, or clumsy. She hadn't turned any corner since entering the forest, nor had she tripped and acidentally found herself going the wrong way. Yet, everytime she turned around to make her way out of the tree cluttered forests, the trip back took much longer than it should have. Now, the sun was soon going to begin it's decent, and an uncomfortable darkness was going to cover the already shady forest. Sauda had to find her way out, before she was trapped inside for the night. By her father's previous experiences with living in a forest his whole life, she knew that night brought dangers that she might not be able to take on by herself.
Continuing to put one hoof infront of the other, Sauda tried to find her way to the forest's edge. The branches from the tall, oak trees made it impossible for her to fly out of the woods. She didn't want to risk injuring herself on one of the many branches that streached out, blocking the sky. Sighing softly, Sauda paused in her search, lifting her nose up in the air, her headwings flairing outwards in slight alarm. 'What is that smell?' There was a faint scent of ash in the air. As though something had been burning, not too long ago. Figuring it couldn't hurt to discover what had been set aflame, Sauda followed the scent, her quest for the boarder forgotten for the moment.
