Amber Daigun"Hey, if something looks too good to be true..."
"...You should shoot it in the head, just to be sure..."New York City! It had been almost forever since the last time Amber had been there. But she had decided to treat herself to help put the fact that she was now once again partnerless out of her mind. Living most of her life in California, she couldn't get over how different it was on the other coast.
Amber had spent most of the day shopping and treating herself. Instead of her normal attire, she wore a red sleeveless top with a black skirt, though even with the change or wardrobe she still stood out on the crowd.
When it got late and she found herself lost, wandering the streets aimlessly, she stumbled into the shadier side of the city. As she continued to walk, the people on the street glared at her, almost as if she didn't belong. Even Amber had to admit she was more than a bit scared, maybe walking around alone wasn't such a good idea.
As she passed by an alleyway, she heard what sounded like a few people cheering on a fight. She knew it wasn't the brightest idea to stay and watch, but her curiosity got the better of her, and she poked her head in. There were two, larger men fighting eachother. The one that was obviously winning the fight was a larger black man, who despite it being night, was wearing some funny looking shades. The man didn't look like he had even been touched. His opponent went down, and a few of the people in the crowd cheered while most of the others sighed angrily at the loss and handed over the money they had bet on the ********, man! I ain't never gettin' my money back with that b*****d Rashon fightin'"
"It's your own damn fault for bettin' against him. He ain't no fighter, he's a goddamned cheat code or some s**t!"
Rashon collected his winnings with a grin. He loved making easy money; taking that guy out hadn't even made him sweat. Not saying a word once he was paid, he headed out of the alley. That was when he saw the red-haired girl who had been peering around the corner and watching the fight. She definitely didn't look like she was from around there, and she was definitely in danger hanging around dark alleys at night alone. As he passed her, he spoke quietly so the others in the alley couldn't hear. He didn't really know those guys as much as they were just a source of easy money, so they were probably dangerous themselves.
"You shouldn't be here, kid. It isn't safe..."Amber almost jumped out of her skin as the large man moved up to her, but he actually didn't seem to be very dangerous, despite what she had just saw him do. She decided to take a chance and ask for help.
"A-Actually, I'm kinda lost. You wouldn't know how to get...back to...you know...the safer section of the city"Rashon chuckled a little to himself, leaning against a wall and lighting up a cigarette. He sure didn't seem to be in any rush to answer Amber's question.
"I know this area, and I could probably get you where you want to go. But...Information isn't cheap out here. It'll cost you five hundred bucks...""F-Five hundred!?"Amber knew it was an outrageous price, but she really wanted her nice, safe hotel room right about then. Plus, five hundred was like a week's allowance for her, so it wasn't really that big of a deal.
"Well...okay...I just need, like, an ATM... Wait here...I guess I'll find one..."In all truth, Rashon had been joking about the $500 thing. But, if this girl was willing to pay it...he did love easy money. However, seeing as she would probably just get lost looking for an ATM, he knew he had to go with her.
As the two made it to the nearest ATM, they saw a few shady-looking characters nearby. The group, able to tell from Amber's clothes that she had some money, decided to make their way over.
"Heh heh, don't you know it isn't safe out at night, little girl? You and your friend there are unlucky to have come to our neighborhood..."
Amber didn't know what she could do. There were five of them, and they were smart enough to surround the pair, so running didn't seem like an option. Rashon, however, only sighed as the men surrounded them.
"You know, I hate fighting more than three people at once. Why don't you guys just get out of here so things don't have to get...unpleasant...""Shut up! Who the hell do you think you are!?"
One of the men threw a punch aimed at Rashon's face, but Rashon, seeing it from a mile away, grabbed the man's arm and took him down using an armlock. He held the arm in a vulnerable position, applying pressure to keep the man on the ground.
"Listen, back away now, and I don't break your friend's arm..."
The four men were surprised by Rashon's skill, but didn't back down. To bad for their fifth man; Rashon twisted the arm, making a horrible popping noise followed by the man's scream.
Two more charged Rashon from either side. He avoided one of their punches, ducking under it and delivering a devastating punch to the gut that sent one of them to the floor. The other connected with a punch tp Rashon's jaw, but it felt like he was hitting brick. Sure, Rashon spit out a bit of blood, but he then delivered a right hand to the other man's jar, knocking him clear to the floor.
One of the remaining two pulled out a gun and pointed it at Rashon, giving a cocky smile. Rashon only sighed once again.
"Got a gun, do you? Well, let's play a little game then..."
Rashon pointed his right hand at the man as if it was a gun as well. The man raised an eyebrow in confusion, but didn't let his own weapon lower.
"Why don't we see who's quicker to pull the trigger, you or me..."In a split second, his fingers turned into the barrel of a pistol and fired, hitting the weapon out of the other man's hand.
"Look's like I win..."
The two men were so weirded out by what happened that they turned and ran, taking the others with them. Rashon then turned to Amber, thinking he would probably need to calm her down, or at least explain the whole transformation thing to her. He didn't want her to run, he still wanted his money. However, she seemed overjoyed, taking a great interest in his power.
"You're a weapon!? And a gun too!? This...This is perfect! Rashon, right! My name's Amber, and I'm a meister looking for a weapon, and you're the perfect one! You have heard of Shibusen, right? Well, I'm a student there! If you agree to be my partner, I promise I'll turn you into a death scythe! And..."Rashon cut Amber off with his simple answer.
"...No...""W-Wha? B-But why?"There was clear surprise in Amber's face. She never got refused so bluntly like that, she was used to getting whatever she wanted.
"I know all about Shibusen, I've done my research. Fighting witches and the whole Kishin thing sounds nice and all, but I don't really care about any of it. I make plenty as a fighter and bodyguard, and I don't see you shibusen students making anything. So no, I'll stick to things I get paid to do."Amber definitely felt depressed. It was almost like a taunt, the second time she found a perfect weapon, and still she ended up weaponless. Then, she thought of something.
"Hey, you said you're a bodyguard, right? Sooo...what if instead of being a student at Shibusen, I hire you to be my personal bodyguard there? I'm pretty sure I can afford you..."Rashon couldn't help but smile. Being paid to escort some kid to class? What could he say, he loved easy money.
"I typically charge a lot per fight..."
"But I'll kick your a** for free..."
