A young girl with long hair strolled into the doctor's office, her bright red eyes wide and curious. Her hair drifted about behind her in two flowing pigtails, and her teeth gleamed with a pretty grin. Otherwise, she was in a soft dress with no shoes on, having taken them off as soon as she walked in.
Saige walked in to look around at the small room, eyes curious until they fell upon the sight of a paper. Walking over to it, she saw Saar's name with a time next to it, and realized they were pretty close to the appointment.
"Saar, we have only a few minutes until your turn, if that...".

"Saar's here already? My you're prompt." Came a pleasant voice. A little woman entered the room at that point, obviously the doctor. Anyone who knew Apoxi Blighto might be shocked by this change to her appearance.
She was still her usual short self, with long brown hair, an upturned nose, freckles all over and glasses, but she looked drastically different from her usual appearance. Her usually wild brown locks were neatly braided back, and her huge black glasses were replaced with smaller clear ones that fit more to her face. Her labcoat and regular clothes were replaced with the simple garb of a doctor, and she looked anything if not professional.
"My you've grown since you were here last!"

Saar turned when the woman walked in, her eyes wide a moment before they narrowed to their normal size. She moved towards Saige and took her mother's hand, ears perked as Apoxi spoke to her.
After a moment, her mouth opened with surprise and understanding.
"I know you!" She said with a bright smile, tugging on Saige's hand to show that she understood.
"Yes...I'm sorry if you weren't expecting us...but I wanted to check and make sure the time was right before I let Saar go and play with her friends...it's been a busy morning..."

"no it's fine. She can just follow me. I'll send her back out when her appointment's done." Apoxi assured Saige. "You can go ahead out and enjoy the barbecue."

Her fingers dropped from her mother as she smiled with her toothed grin.
"Momma, you can go play for me...Layla could be here!"
Than, she turned and walked toward Apoxi, taking a breath and feeling more confident since she remembered the woman from when she used to live here. It had been hard to recognize her first, but now that she remembered, it was easy to feel confident.

"I'm sure Layla will be here when she get's a chance." Apoxi agreed, taking Saar's hand and showing her back to the little white examination room. It looked like any doctor's office really - white, clean, with a large bed/bench thing for a patient to sit on.
"Go ahead and take a seat, sweetie. I've got to mark on your file that you're here." Apoxi told the girl, making a few notes before smiling. "Just get comfortable for a little, pumpkin. I'm going to be checking your heart and blood pressure first."

Saar walked through the door with her ears perked, catching any weird sounds just in case. Thankfully, she didn't hang around too many other children that could have told her horror stories, and Apoxi's soft voice didn't give her any worries.
So, she let go of the new hand and rushed to the bench, jumping and sitting on it with a grin and patting the sterilized paper with interest.
She turned back toward Apoxi when she spoke up about the heart, putting her hand on her chest where Saige told her where her heart was.
"Are you gonna take it out?" She asked with wide, glowing eyes.

The woman laughed, shaking her head. "No, dearie. Just going to check it with this and that little cuff there." Apoxi told her, pointing to the stethoscope and the cuff hanging on the wall.
Walking over, she put the ear pieces in her own ears and pressed the metal bit to Saar's chest. "Now take a deep breath and let it go slowly."

Her ears flattened at the response, and she tried to hide the sigh that came out. It was hard to tell if was disappointment or relief, but either way she jumped when the item touched her chest, and took a very long, deep breath. She tried to let out as slowly as she could, wondering why this was needed to check her heart.
From what she remembered, her heart didn't need to breath, but than again, she never thought to ask. So, she took that chance now.
"When I breath, does it fill my heart?"

"No, it fills your lungs." Apoxi answered, moving the little metal disc around the girl's chest a couple of times and to her back, asking her to repeat the breathing each time and commending her with good after.
"All right, your heart rate is normal - for you anyway - and now I'll check your blood pressure." she said, taking the cuff down to put around Saar's arm and carefully strap it on. "This is going to get tight but don't worry, okay?"

She nodded, and tightened her fingertips in the nervousness, but only a moment. She than repeated the breathing, thinking it was needed and that she could be good and do it was well. Saar loved getting attention and praise, so if she could do something good, that was always a good sign.
Saige might even argue Saar loves attention a bit too much, but she was a child, so the adult never paid too much time to it.

Apoxi pumped up the cuff and released the pressure a few times, checking things and nodding here and there. She continued to lavish the quiet praise on Saar before finally releasing the cuff and writing something on her notes. "Normal. Very good, you're doing well. Now I've got to check your ears, nose and throat. Okay?"

Saar nodded, watching Apoxi now with her own small smile and moving her hands against the edge of the bed as she waited for the next task.
Soon, she was tapping her fingertips to make a noise, something she did when she was bored, simply because her fingers were much harder than normal.

Apoxi brought out a funny little tool with a light to look into each of Saar's ears, into her ears and up her nose. What a strange place to look. "Just getting over a bit of a cold?" the woman inquired, putting the tool after after she'd removed the little plastic cap from it.
"Next I need to measure you."

The child giggled when the item went into her ears, and they twitched a bit until she was able to get over it. It was very invading, and tickled a lot, but she tried not to squirm. When it went into her nose, she sniffled a lot, before shaking her head and opening her mouth when asked.
Her gills flapped a bit before they calmed down as well, and she smiled yet again with her big toothy grin.
"How did you know?"
She than moved to stand, assuming that measure means she needed to stand as tall as she could, much like she did when she took her height at home.
