I've been there where i tried to kill my self also , i think it comes to mind when the person have nothing left in their life (they believe they dont have anything left in their lives) and that there is no hope no matter what to change the way they feel or the way their life is going , they dont feel like they fit in this world and they get more depressed from these things , also they feel like there is no purpose to live this life and there is no one they can count on , specialy when hope is gone..it is hard for them to believe in something or even think for tomorrow , so they get to the point where they cant handle life and just let go , which is like given up to me and showing how weak you are when life isnt TOO much to handle , sometimes it is but thats why there is faith and where we have something to count on as God and hope as bible teaches us about Gods plans and such and trust in him no matter what , hope what holds the person and make them move forward.
People who kill them selves just for any kind of reasons , they are weak..thats all i can say , and really we cant judge them by saying they are going to hell or not , all we know is that what they did was wrong anyways...but we leave the judging on God ofcourse. By the way sorry about your friend. sweatdrop

But anyway, Ill ansere your Q.
Most likeley, They have a heavy feeling in their heart that is or was troubling them because of a problem or something that happened and they think that "what would be my reason here on earth?". In short, Depression.
If you ask me, the best way to save them from this dreadfull murder is that evangelize to them. Tell him/her that living life with Christ is the best relationship and decision that they would make in their life. Your life is not worth taking.

Why does anyone to anything?
No seriously. Reasons for suicide and suicidal behavior are extremely varied.

I don't think anyone can ever fully understand why somebody commits sucide, some reasons can be because they feel that no one loves them, theres no point to existing anymore, tired of all their pain. Quote: No seriously. Reasons for suicide and suicidal behavior are extremely varied. You're right they are varied, and there is an answer and there is hope. There is one who loves you beyond understanding, who has given His life for you so you might be with Him forever, He knew you before you were knit together in your mother's womb 5Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations Jeremiah 1:5He knows you so well that the very hairs on your head on numbered 7But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. Luke 12:7 28If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?
29And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. Luke 12:28-30 We were at war with God in our sin but look what He did for us? 8But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8We are so limited in our human understanding that we get consumed in our own self-loathing and pity that we fail to see the one who created us loves us more then life itself. And that kind of love is something worth living for, don't you think?

Aglaia Lennox You're right they are varied, and there is an answer and there is hope. There is one who loves you beyond understanding, who has given His life for you so you might be with Him forever, He knew you before you were knit together in your mother's womb And, conveniently, He knows us after we 'shed our mortal coil', so to speak. Really, all death does is stop our worldly inhibitions from taking us farther away from God.

i've been around it alot, the thought has crossed my mind more then once, and a few of my friends have been through it also. well, the friends i care the most bout (gf) gets that thought a lil too much. its normally on pian, and the feeling that no one cares, so if they were to go away, dissapear, then no one would care, so why would it matter? thas the thought that has crossed my mind. its also feeling like theres nothing left, love has abandoned you, there is no God, cuz if there was, why would he let me go through all this. thas a thought alot of my friends have had. but i can relate to being there, and trying, best to avoid it, not worth it, theres so much in life, u just need a lil bit of hope, belief, and faith to hell pull you through. if you believe God will pull you through he will

I think a lot of it has to do with the way the world is. So many things go wrong in life, both on a personal level and globally, that many people feel there is no hope left. They get depressed, and instead of getting help they let it continue to the point that they long for death.
I know for me I felt that nothing would ever change and the circumstances that I was in would never improve. I can see now that it was not true, but back then I did not see a way out. And just to note, I was a Christian then, too. Even Christians can get depressed and have suicidal thoughts.

I wrestle with depression every day. When I do think about suicide, it's usually because I feel like I'm a burden to everyone and that it would be so much better if I just disappeared. As for the causes... I have a medical condition which causes depression. But disease is rarely the cause of depression. Stress is considered the number one cause of depression. Did you know that Japan and the US have the highest rate of emotionally unstable people? Why do you think that is? Our countries value careers above all else. We live in a stressful environment.

Just a minor correction. Stress is considered the leading cause for major depression (which usually lasts no longer then two weeks or so). However for Dysthymia (long term depression that lasts no less then two years), the leading cause is something of a more serious sense (chemical imbalances in the brain, deep-rooted psychological issues that cause extremely low self-esteem...)
