Opens: Friday 23 April 19:30 GMT (Now)
Ends: Sunday 25 April 15:00 GMT -changed!-

I will be giving away one of the baskets from Shiori and Verloren's last breeding. 3nodding Verloren has two children with another mare, and two others with Shiori.

The winner will be able to choose which of the following two baskets they want.

#1User Image #2User Image

Roleplaying your basket is encouraged, but not necessary.
You don't need to be a heavy RPer, because neither I nor Firkasa have enough time to reply to roleplays often. And at the moment, Firkasa is kind of MIA, so if you want to discuss plottings between family members and roleplays, I'm the one to PM. :3

The only thing I expect from a prospective owner of one of the baskets is the following;
- RP with your mother and siblings while you are a foal.
- Be available for RP some other time in the future (between siblings).

All you need to do is fill out the following form and post it in this thread. This includes choosing one of the two baskets, describing the personality you have in mind for the soquili, and writing a RPed response to one of the prompts.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me!

Name:
Which Basket you would want: (If I pick you, this is the basket you will be getting)
How many soquili you own: (All types of soquili count as one, co-owned soquili count as a half.)
Teepee: (Please provide a link to your teepee if you have one.)
Personality: (Assume your basket's gender, and write out the personality you feel fits them best.)
Prompt: (Choose one of the following prompts and generate a roleplayed response.)
Anything else?

Prompt 1:
You have just met another foal and realized that something is not right; they are a purebred Kalona. Shiori has always warned you about her negative experiences with Kalonas, and how they are dangerous soquili. It is dark, and you are in the middle of the woods, lost and far from home. What do you do?

Prompt 2:
You have just had an argument with your parents because they feel that you are too young to leave their protective embrace just yet, but you really want to start your own life. You escape to find some time to think about the situation, when your sibling finds you and suggests the two of you run away from home and Owletta (Sawaki's IC Persona). What do you do?

Prompt 3:
You have grown up into a full-fledged adult and are planning on starting a family of your own with a mate/fling. You hear news that one of your siblings has fallen really ill and is in the care of Owletta (Sawaki's IC persona) by her hut by the beach. You want to visit your sick sibling, but you aren't sure whether your partner is up to it. What do you do?

The Family

User Image Owletta
Sawaki's IC Indian Persona. Lives in a hut by the beach, and takes cares of the entire Shiori/Verloren family.

User ImageMarkings: She wears an earing made out of feather's taken from her mate's tail, so that he is always with her. Leopard print on her main body, brown horizontal stripes going up her legs, light shades of rainbow on her belly, curly hair with strands of gold, brown and rainbow all blended together. She also wears a dreamcatcher around her neck, which she is very fond of.

Personality: When meeting a stranger, Shiori acts a little bit shy but enhusiastic. However, if you really get to know her, she is the most wild and adventurous horse ever. If you really get to touch her heart, you'll see she is no different than a child deep inside. She enjoys rolling in the mud, walking by the seaside, and gazing at the stars at night, talking to people close to her. She dreams of one day starting a family with a very special horse who is able to devote himself to Shiori. Shiori is a real attention seeker, and loves to be the center of attention.

Physical Condition: Although she is a mother and is beginning to get older as time passes, she never seems to lose her energy in anything. Even if she is extremely tired, she will always find the will to bring out her hyperness. She is in good condition, she has strong muscles and is overall a large mare that is both elegant looking and powerful looking. The only time she might manage to be lazy is when she is basking in the sun on the warm sand at a beach.

Strengths & Weaknesses: She has a great strength that allows her to make everyone around her smile at her childish but well-intended actions. She can rarely ever upset anyone, and if she manages to do so she will only be interested in making them like her again. Her only weaknesses are her family and friends. Their happiness always comes before hers and she would willingly put herself in danger for them to be happy, a foolish but brave weakness.

User Image

Personality: As a young colt Verloren was often running about the fields playing with anyone he could find and trying to discover what made the world what it was. He especially thought that the butterflies were very intriguing and would constantly chase them.

When he grew up into an adult stallion, Verloren became much more refined and gentlemanly like. However, he was still the playful sort. Although, Verloren still had one weakness that he carried over from his foal days and those were butterflies. On occasion, though rare, he’d revert to a more childish state when he saw a butterfly and chase after it until it flew off.

It was also sometime during his adulthood that someone made the comment that Verloren looked tasty and wanted to lick him. He has a slight fear about anything trying to lick him now…

History: Verloren was found by by Cocheta and another during what European settlers called Christmas. As an orphan foal, Verloren had few memories of his parents but since he was left in the care of Cocheta, he grew into a relatively normal stallion.

During his earlier days as an adult, Verloren met the wonderful mare Resi and eventually had two foals with her, Amara, who stayed with him, and Nikoa, who went with his mother. Though they were not mates, they did share a kinship of sorts with each other. Alas, Verloren did not stay in these lands long enough for that relationship to bloom into something new for he and his daughter chose to follow Cocheta to another land. In this other land he stayed for many years and witnessed many things. Much of his personality hardened during this time.

Upon their return back to their homeland, Verloren’s personality slowly began to revert back to the way it formerly was before he left. He met the mare Shiori, a fantastically colored mare, much like himself. They’ve started a promising relationship with each other and have become mates. They both have an incredible love of life and everything in it, and can be playful and fun together while still maintaining the safety of a family and a relationship. They have two sons who they have raised, and now they're expecting three more!

Brothers
Kenji | Sokinnin

User ImagePersonality:
Kenji is a very proud and 'princely' stallion. In the presence of others, he will be formal and appear strong and invincible. He can also be rather flirty with mares, but always takes into consideration their feelings and respects them. His mother taught him how to be kind and compassionate, and his father taught him how to be dominant and proud. When he is around people he trusts and feels comfortable with, he is playful and funny, as deep inside he has the heart of a young foal. He is always respectful, but can sometimes be possessive over someone he cares for. He also has a certain fondness for butterflies. Not only did his parents meet because of a butterfly, but when he first met Ziva, he mistook her as a butterfly and has always liked the pretty little creatures afterwards.

Kenji is a proud, charming, kind, and loyal stallion. However, he is also a bit of a womanizer. His good looks and charm lure the mares in. However, despite his "player" behavior, he is different than other shallow males. He actually has a heart, and is very compassionate and caring for other horses. Even if he has a "one night stand" with someone, he will be available for them in future, whether it is as a lover or a friend; he will always lend his help. Also, a good aspect of his personality is that he always finds something to love about everyone.
Kenji loves to be with mares, and if he happens to knock one up he'd be thrilled, and be there for her in the future and provide security for her children and for her. He would always act kindly towards her and be compassionate.
He is looking for someone that will put up with his monogamy issues, and love him for who he is. Preferably a strong-willed mare who will obviously be hurt by his indecisiveness in who he wants to commit to, but keep her head high and make him grovel to stay in her life.
On the downside, he doesn't exactly know who he's willing to commit to yet, as he is in love with a childhood friend who he can't seem to find. However, at the moment, monogamy isn't his main concern; he prefers to fall head over heels for his mares, and lifemating is something he considers in the long-run.

Name: The foal would be named after I saw it. *innocent look*
Which Basket you would want: Number 2. I'm loving the green!
How many soquili you own: 9 (10 counting the custom I just won)
Teepee: All my babies
Personality: Seeing the love that his parents share, the young colt would grow up being a compassionate fellow. He would put his family and friends before himself, always making sure that others are cared for. He would grow into a stallion that would believe in soul mates, believe that there was a reason that he would be drawn to a certain mare, believe in things such as magic and mystical creatures. Light hearted in nature, he would stand up for what he believed was right, even if it meant making a fool of himself.
Prompt: Prompt #3- (For the sake of rp, his name is Navir.)

Navir looked over at his mate with worried eyes, she would be giving birth to their children any day now. Her belly was wide, his brow furrowed. What should he do?

Just this morning a friend of Navir's had delivered word that Kenji, his brother, was very ill and in the care of the two legger that watched over his family. He wanted to go and be with his brother, but he would never forgive himself if he missed the birth of his foals.

His eyes settled on his mate, a beautiful mare in both mind and body. He lowered his body next to her, she had heard the news and knew that it bothered him so. He had explained that he didn't want to leave her, that he would never forgive himself...but then she had made her point, she and the foals would be there when he returned, Kenji....Kenji may not make it.

As he lie there next to her, breathing in her scent and watching his unborn foals rumble just beneath the surface, he decided that he had to go to his brother. He informed his mate that he would wait for her to fall asleep then run through the night to the beach. He could make it there before morning if he traveled all night.

He hoped that his brother was not as ill as his friend had stated, hoped that Owlette would tell him that he would be fine and to return to his mate's side. He, could only hope...

Anything else? I love family rp! Hehe. I enjoy plotting and causing drama in the family. See my past rp's within the Scythe/Vara and Maion/Seng family!

Name: If a girl La'lile, and if a boy Lailon
Which Basket you would want: #1
How many soquili you own: 3
Teepee: Teepee
Personality: I think that he would probably start out rather playful, joyful, and maybe a bit wild. Someone the others would enjoy playing with as they themselves grew. once he becomes older I can see him slowly growing out of that somewhat, becoming more loyal, charming, and friendly, and not afraid to lend a hand to anyone that he meets.
Prompt: Prompt 1: The young foal seems to wondered himself into a hard place, for before him was another foal, but no normal foal, a Kalona. He lets his auds fall back, peeking from around a tree he over looks the other one, almost seeming to take in it's size, and to try to see if it was older or younger.

His eyes seemed to diolate as it shifts from the foal, and his form pulls back behind the tree, trying to use that as a cover. The other foal hard turned to look at him, and now he was even more scared then before. He knew all about these Kalona, from the stories he was told. At least he got a good enough look to tell it was a girl, and she was around his age, maybe younger.

The night was scaring him more then normal, he was lost alone and... A rumble comes from his stomach, a growl enough to alert the other he was here, and his little form slunk to the ground. hungry, lost, and about to be beaten by a girl.

Those little orbs once more slip around the tree to find that the foal was gone, maybe he was safe, just maybe. He was starting to relax now, but the hardest part was to find home. A turn of his head to go back the way he came only brought fright to his eyes, for before him stood the one from before. The foal, the danger, and he just knew that his stomach gave him away.

Any other time he would be yelling at his stomach, but at this moment, he just stared at the foal before him. He could get an even better look at the foal now, and she was slightly smaller, and younger then him, maybe he could talk his way out of this, and find a way home, don't hurt to try right?

He spoke up to her, almost shaken, but he was holding strong. "Hello there." A canter of his head made her canter hers and a grin show, those teeth flashing him, making him back up into the tree. With a snort she addressed him, her wings gave a slight flick and a stretch. "What are you doing in my family's home, I should let them come feed on you."

His rump to the tree kept him from running, her words almost making his legs shutter in fear, but he was holding strong, asking himself what his family would do in this point. "If you were going to wouldn't of you done that already?" He had a point in his question to her, enough of one she looked away with another snort. "Maybe I want to take care of you myself, make my parents proud of me, if that is even possible."

Her words made him wonder, why was it she had not done to him like her kind in the stories? What was she after? He was questioning in his mind, so much so his eyes had a questioning look. Little did he know she was the youngest, and always the one picked on for being smaller, all she was wanting was someone to, 'play' with, push around like her siblings.

Watching her in her silence, slightly lesser afraid of the foal before him, but that would not stay long, she buts him with her head, moving him from the tree. "Play with me, now, and i may help you get home." Knowing he was here alone, he was probably lost from his family. The fool boy agrees to this with a nod of his head and she smirks, nipping at him. "Just head that way until you reach the cliff, I want something, and your going to get it."

One foot before the other, the walk seemed to go on forever, but not as long as it seemed before her got to the cliff and a bone boll laid on a ledge below. "Get that for me, and I will let you live,... for now." Those orbs would slip from her to the cliff and back, just wanting to go home, he slips down the tiny steep path, his hooves nearly slipping from under him, nearly sending him over the edge, and that only amused the foal above.

He slowly made his way to it, placing his maw around and looked back up, the trip back seemed harder then the way down, now that he was looking over it, part of the trail was missing where he slipped, and this was not going to be easy. his hooves slowly moved him up, almost like a crawl, reaching that point he would have to jump, but close enough to her that he could hand over the doll.

A all to fimuler grin shows on her. "Pass me the toy, and I will help you the rest of the way up." having no choice but to trust her he tosses the doll up, her jaws clamping around it, laying it at her hooves. "Your help, don't look down, or should I say do." She laughs a foal like evil laugh, her orbs glaring at him.

A twist of her tail and swooping up her toy she turns and trots off home to tell her parents of what she did, not expecting the boy to make it, starve, if not fall down to the darkness below.

He stood there, looking over the cliff, no choice, either way was a chance for death, he takes the jump, missing, his jaw locking on a root of a tree just in time, helping him pull himself up, and once to the top he turned and bolted the way he came. Eyes full of tears, running into his mother's fores, not noticing at first only sends him into a wail, but that scent shook him mind to. Staying close to her side, spotting his father, he was happy for he was going home, and in no way ever coming back here.

In the distance the female foal watched, a smirks still there, swearing to one day in his life, for she let him go now, and she had something to thrive for, plotting on what to do next to the scared boy that got away.
Anything else? I enjoy the fun a family rp can bring, I am also flexible about the rp times, and rather patient when it comes to waiting on posts.

Name:Mija for a female, Milo for a male.
Which Basket you would want: #1. @_@ Love that pastel rainbow thing going on!
How many soquili you own: One that I received yesterday from Vance's CC for April. :3
Teepee: None yet.
Personality: Mija loves her family with undying dedication. She's a bit forgetful at times, dangerously so, and has a hard time remembering names of those she's met in the past. She easily keeps track of close friends and her family. Despite her absent-minded nature, Mija is a fiery mare, one with a love of more childish things. Picking flowers, chasing river-fish, dancing with butterflies, all of these are favorite past times of Mija. She's also a story-teller, once with a vivid imagination, and often tells "little white lies" to get out of any trouble that might happen upon her.
Prompt:
Mija was going to be in -so- much trouble.

It was late, the sky darkening at an alarming rate. Mija'd promised that she'd be home before the sun had set, it simply wasn't her fault that the most beautiful sparrow had demanded that she chase it through a meadow near her home. She'd not planned to run as far as she did, but the sparrow simply wouldn't stop flying and so she'd just had to chase it down!

"Silly bird," she whined to herself, trying to remember which way she'd come from. Her legs ached from running; it was almost as if she'd traveled MILES from home. None of her surroundings looked familiar at all. Not only that, but it was getting darker by the second, and Mija wasn't too fond of the dark.

In the distance near the treeline, Mija saw a shadow move menacingly. It moved towards her swiftly, wings looming in the pale evening light. Mija's eyes narrowed, then widened; it was a foal, not much older than herself, but it had a pointed tail and big, leathery wings. The foal snorted as it drew close, and Mija remembered stories her mother had told her, ones that warned her of the Kalona and the danger they presented.

The two stared warily at one another, neither of them wanting to speak first. Finally Mija broke the silence, her voice bright with warning. "You better get away! My daddy is the biggest meanest horse you ever saw in your life and he isn't afraid of Kalona!" She snorted menacingly at the other foal, who merely looked at her in shock. It backed away warily, tail lashing behind it.

"And my mommy can shoot FIRE outta her EYES!" Mija continued, the embellishments trickling easily from her lips. "If you hurt me, she would burn you up so fast!" At that, the Kalona foal backed away a few more feet, ears flat against its head. It didn't speak a word but readied its wings for flight.

"And my big brothers are SKINWALKERS!" Mija shouted, a fearful scowl on her face. "Meanest ones you'd ever meet!" Of course, this wasn't true, but the strange Kalona didn't know that and Mija was being pretty convincing. The Kalona beat its thick wings, raising itself into the air before soaring away, leaving Mija to herself. Only a crazy Kalona would want to face mean dads, fire-spitting moms and skinwalker brothers.

Mija breathed a sigh of relief, regaining her composure for just a moment. Her ears twitched as a familiar sound carried to her on the wind; it was her mother, calling her name. Mija ran towards the sound, bursting with excitement to share her story with her siblings. They'd never believe that she had fought a battle with a scary, terrible Kalona and she'd won!

Anything else? I adore RP but I won't demand it. :3 I am prompt with my tags and replies, though, should there be sibling RP! :3

Name:Whishtdel [male] L'emhin [female]
Which Basket you would want: 1 the white and yellow one
How many soquili you own: .5 I co-Own Zheadeos in my signature
Teepee: Still waiting for it to be set up Sorry
Personality: Female: Wild and adventurous L'emhin will always be young at heart, outgoing and playful. A certain zest for life would be prominent in her life. She is open and friendly and welcoming of everyone. Naive almost to a fault she see's no one as being evil but good in their own way. Such a belief would leave her open to hurt and heartbreak though she'd have a protector to aid in keeping her safe for her willingly loving ways.(This would be My Zheadeos)
(I will go more into detail if I win her. The personality will be roughly the same should the Foal be Male with so minor changes)
Prompt: Prompt 1 sad Because it'll show a perfect situation of her personality)

The night had fallen alot sooner then the young foal had expected it to. Once moment L'emhin had been chasing after a butterfly as she darted away from her parents. The next she'd found a bunny and decided to play hide and seek. Some where between the warm late spring air and a shaded tree she had dozed off. It had been a rustling in a bush not far off that had stirred the Butter cream colored foal from her sleep. She yawned her even row of flat Typical for the herbivore soquili's. She shook her head softly and her mane danced between her ears. A small giggle arose her her mouth as the mane ticked her ears. She rose from the ground and pranced around in a lively way.

Shortly after her prancing had stopped she heard the rustling again and she remembered that it was what had woken her up from her nap. The darkness of the sky had not yet set into the young foals mind. She giggled and pranced over to the rustling in the bushes. A low growl was admitted from the bushes and it didn't nothing to frighten her away. No her interest was flared and her eyes grew wide. A pair of glowing like red eyes seemed to be visible as she drew closer to the bush. Before she could get much closer though she was falling backward away from the bush. A bat like wings foal propelling her backward into the dirt and leaves of the forest. Her curiosity had been so engaged that she wasn't realizing any such danger that she could be in. A twisted face with sharp teeth hovered above her face. The voice that would soon fill her ears was a rough and eerie voice that would be oddly pleasant to L'emhin's ears"Why didn't you run you dim-witted foal."

L'emhin cocked her head to the side as best she could being that she was oddly pinned to the ground by the other foal. His horns were like that of a ram. They curled back behind his ears. They looked sharp to a point and L'emhin wanted to touch them to see if they were as sharp as they looked. She didn't fight to be free no she thought it would just make the other foal scared and cause him to attack. There was some sort of knowledge floating around in her head. In her new position under the foal she had a slight view of the sky and it's twinkling stars though it was not all that clear seeing as the trees reached up high and huddled close nearly obscuring the sight of the sky. A small gasp escaped her as she thought about her parents. Upon recalling her parents she remember her mother stories about Kalona's. "Your a Kalona!" She excitement poured from her quiet voice. While she'd nearly yelled her deduction it sounded just like someone raising their voice just a little.

The Foal above her gave her an odd look at the excitement in her voice. "Your not scared of me?"His rough voice came off surprised yet insulted all the same. He backed up from her to allow her a chance to raise from the ground. L'emhin Jumped up onto her four hooves and shook her coat of the leaves that had gathered. "My mom says I should be but she doesn't see things like me." She nodded her head, her eyes glittering with excitement. In the back of her mind the thought of her parents probably being super worried about her nagged her. She frowned at the thought then brighten looking at the other foal. "Your here too so you must know how to get out of here right" Her spirits weren't dampened much when a frown came across the other foals face. "No... I'm lost..."

L'emhin danced in place still brimming with excitement. "Well then we'll find our way out together." A scowl masked the other foals face as he seemed infuriated. "What makes you think I'd need your help to find my way out." Malice coated his rough voice and caused L'emhin to blink and turn her head. "Well it's funner if your not alone silly." With her statement she nudged the other grumbling yet agreeable foal into motion. She'd show her mom that her fear of Kalona's was silly cause they weren't mean. Most likely just misunderstood and judged to the point where they acted like the monsters everyone made them out to be...

Anything else? She'll eventually see that some aren't nice and misunderstood that their are really some that are evil but luckily not this time

Name: Luvivane for a girl or Zehel for a boy.
Which Basket you would want: #2
How many soquili you own: One regular mare.
Teepee: In the process of establishing one.
Personality: While immensely charming, Zehel is sly and somewhat insecure. He has a lot of backwards ways of doing things and can be found more often then not dropping obscure hints instead of actually saying something outright. Due to this, he has a lot going through his head at once and its very easy to get him flustered. Its only when he's out of his element like this can anyone get anything out of him, otherwise it takes a lot of prodding and an extensive game of twenty-one questions. Zehel can be a bit of a flirt, as he considers complimenting ones looks is a hidden way of saying that he like them, which is a bit off of a conclusion, but it gets him through the day. While he can be playful, generally Zehel is calm and quiet and seems to enjoy looking at life more then participating in it and chatting more then running about being childish.
Prompt: #1
Trees swayed in the chill darkness of the night, and start littered the sky like sand on the beach. Zehel was been wandering about enjoying the night. It was all to his surprise when he stumbled upon another foal, who stood still and quiet in the dark. They looked as though they hardly breathed and a set of ragged looking wings were plastered to their side. Zehel came closer to the clearing to investigate, staring across at the figure in the grass. The foal whirled around in the span of a breath, wings outspread and eyes glowing red with malice. Zehel blanched and stepped back. It was obvious that this foal was a Kalona, and yet more to that they now stared at him with violence in their crimson eyes, with a breath that hissed out like a snake. The green foal's hooves made all too loud huffs as he paced backwards more, his heart in his throat. While Zehel couldn't spy a pupil, he could feel the Kalona foal's eyes tracing him slowly as he moved, and the winged demon stepped forward slowly to where Zehel stood in the bushes.
"Uhh hi. I have something to do, I-I should really get going." He stepped back yet more, accompanied by a breathy chuckle and a false smile for the dark beast who approached. "Bedtime and stuff, you know?" Zehel winced as his flank brushed a thorny bush. The demon continued to step towards him. Zehel exhaled fearfully, set his haunches and jumped to the wayside, bolting off into the trees. He could sense the Kalona's eyes and chill breath as they followed him into the dark, and Zehel could only breath again when the pressing fear of the Kalona was miles behind him. He had quickly learned what his mother had said about the Kalona. The beasts were truly demonic and reeked of hatred and contempt.
Anything else? :>

Name: If female - Tale Aina; meaning Green (Egyptian) Love/Affection(Japanese) If male - Oran; meaning green (Irish)
Which Basket you would want: #2 (Though honestly both are gorgeous)
How many soquili you own: 1.5
Teepee: [x]
Personality: Tale Aina is very motherly and family-oriented. She cares for every soquili that comes to her for aid. She will not turn anyone down that asks for help. She isn't the type of foal that would run off to explore as much of the world as she could - she was content with just exploring her home.
Prompt: #3

Tale Aina awoke groggy and stiff. Her growing belly was becoming more swollen with each day. Thankfully it was easier to eat and she had almost eaten a full meal the night before. In the close distance she could hear the waves rolling onto the shore. Needing a refreshing dip she trudged towards the sandy beach. There at the waves edge was her strong mate. He stood silently watching the ocean as if contemplating something important.

When Tale was close enough she called to him, "What is it my dear?" She watched his face as a strange emotion flickered across his face, too fast for her to read.

He finally glanced at her then back to the sea and its beautiful clean blue water. "Your brother has fallen ill," his voice came out almost hushed.

Tale's eyes widened, fear washed over her. "Who? Where is he? We must go to see him." She ached to rush off and find her sibling.

Her mate didn't answer at first, pausing long enough that she wanted to yell at him for it. She wasn't one for anger...ever, but when it came to family no one would get in her way. She was vehemently loyal. "They didn't say. Just that he was under Owletta's care."

"Then we go now." She turned, heading south along the coast. This time she did not wait to hear more.

It wasn't far before he had caught up to her. "You can't go in your condition." He motioned to her belly.

She glared at him without stopping her pace. She wasn't broken just because of her pregnancy but Tale Aina could understand his worry. This was both their first. She took in a deep breath allowing herself the time to think of a decent retort. "I can if you are with me."

He argued for a few moments more but seeing his mate's pace never falter he finally dropped it and walked along her in silence. Tale was happy for the peace, considering the two hardly ever fought. The emptiness allowed for her to think and soon enough memories came.

She remembered her siblings running off to explore but she stayed near their home investigating what was there. One would be surprised at just how many things you could discover so close to home. Her parents were always there with their protective watch. That thought led her to remember her escapade lost deep in the forest. She smiled, and her mate gave her another strange glance. Tale knew he would just blame it on hormones.

Thinking back to her adventure, the only one she had taken by herself and away from home. At first it had been a way to rebel against mom and dad. She was always the good child when it came to sticking close. Not this day though, she had traveled further than ever into a heavily wooded area. After the sun had begun to dip below the horizon, it was no longer fun and games. Tale Aina wandered through the forest for hours until she came across another foal like herself. He wasn't lost but confused by her presence and he favored one leg. The two chatted while she mended his injury, and she hardly noticed his horns and wings in the dark until later.

Eventually he led her back to the open forest and disappeared back into the cragged trees. She remembered thinking that she had just stumbled across a Kalona and that she would keep this little adventure to herself - not telling her mother of course. Though because of that chance encounter, she had pursued a living in healing.

It wasn't long before they had reached Owletta's hut. Tired but awake, Tale Aina entered her childhood home to see her brother lying down and breathing heavily. She nodded a greeting to Owletta. She quickly moved beside her sibling and leaned down to nuzzle the side of his face. "I am here, brother."

Anything else? For the prompt and personality I rped the foal as female but everything would be the same no matter the basket's gender. Also I kinda wrapped all prompts together in my response because well it fit in really well with her life-story/personality. (Hope that's alright)
Also very much willing to do some family rp! :3

Name: Nata
Which Basket you would want: #2
How many soquili you own: None!
Teepee: Nope nope
Personality: As a foal Nata will be a pure hearted thing and find that he can love anything from the little ants to some big rock that he happens to spot. He will be clumsy in his way of speaking; straight ahead like a charging bull he won’t always know what he means. Running and leaping into the air would be his favorite game as he tried to find just how high he could go to reach those fluffy clouds in the sky. Bright eyed he will laugh with anyone and find entertainment in watching a rabbit chew plants. Wild at heart he will grow with grace and with the right situation’s he will grow to be a sleek stallion that knows himself completely and is sure of himself. Even as an adult he will have a great capacity to love and a great curiosity of everything new; but he will still carry on his straight forward way and be bit slow in things that go emotionally deep.

Prompt: #3

Nata was so happy, he had found someone to love and she was just perfect. She looked as gentle as a doe and yet she had a heart of a lion and the barbed tongue as sharp as any he had ever heard. He loved her dearly; even if she was a bit pushy and demanding he found it simple to follow her whims. They had only recently decided to start a family, in the heat of summer the foul would be born just was winter ended or so was their hope. A spring foal could grow strong and be healthy from good food and plenty sun; winter one’s his newly loved said tended to be weak. He wasn’t all too sure he believed that and at times it almost made him angry; something rare.

Humming happily to himself he set himself to wondering and looking for a nice place to claim for them; it didn’t have to be big as he was sure they would move when their children were strong; it just had to be big enough for all of them to be in for awhile. The day was a chilly one, the sun seemed to be hiding and everything seemed gray and gone. Nata still found himself happy and in good mood, but it didn’t last as he saw a mare running like her tail was caught a flame. The frothing and sweating mare came to a halt before him, her breath coming out in ragged gasps.

“You’re brother is really sick, he has been taken to the sea side hut of our two legged owletta!” The news came as a shock, a dampening of the mood as his ears lifted up and his nose rose to smell the wind coming toward him. Snow would soon be falling; this was bad timing and more so that they would have to put things on hold. “You ran all the way here, this is several days run?!” He had only just thought of that as he pictured the way back, but the same moved her head side to side. “It’s fine, were all of the same.” Nodding Nata started to walk quickly, aware the mare now following needed to cool down and shouldn’t run again in such cold weather.

“What is he sick of, chest or nose?” Both were bad but the chest sickness was the worst, trouble breathing could put even the hardiest of stallions off their feet. “Both, he has been quiet ill and it started days and days ago,” she seemed to prance in place as if willing him to hurry but Nata kept his fast but easy walk despite his want to get to his brothers side. “Both, did he get the salt water in him, or did the cold get to him from a thing coat?” He had not seen his brother not since he set out to find and start his own family. “I don’t know, I think he was around a sickened animal and caught it from them.” Nata nodded and let the talking end, he hopped their two legged could fix him!

He neared his mate to be and right away he saw her eyes go to the mare at his side, never mind her coat looked so much like his own his mate to be was still jealous. “Love we need to go, my brother is ill and I have to go to him.” He turned to run but a click of teeth and a sound of a hoof clipping the ground had him turning to look at his mate. “No we said we would start a family, if he was weak enough to get sick we have to stay away else risk getting sick ourselves! She needs to get away from you to!” The mare beside him took a few paces back but Nata held firm and turned around fully to see his mate, looking at her fairness in disbelief. “He is my brother, blood! We have to go to him, sick or not we won’t be ill and if we do then we do!” He watched her nostrils flair and her eyes roll.

Nata had forgotten she hated sickness; he had forgotten or not seen it was this much though. “He is my blood, what if your mother fell ill would you not go to her,” He demanded, his own nostrils flared showing their red rims. “No, I wouldn’t and now you can’t because we are going to start a family as we agreed.” It was then Nata wondered what would happen to any foal of theirs that might get sick from a nose sneeze or a slight chest cough. “Fine, I am changing my mind.” The threat of future foals of his was not one he would ever take. Blood is thicker than anything, his family meant the world. Nata gave his once mate a glare and he bared his teeth before turning and running the mare from before following him silently.

Together they both ran, even as snow fell covering their tracks they ran on. Nata’s heart was crushed, he didn’t understand it! He had loved her, he would have done anything for her yet she would not go with him to see a sick sibling. Heedless to the mare beside him Nata took off faster, his hooves hitting rocks and sending spark’s, his made and tail whipping in the wind as any water in the air tried to freeze his hair and stung his nose and eyes. He was right to leave for his brother; if he could catch ill and die he would still go to any of his family. The mare suddenly made a chuffing sound and that snapped him out of it and Nata slowed. “I am sorry, it’s just that.” He did not need to finish for she nodded and Nata felt reassured.

Nata then made steady pace after that, as he galloped he became surer that what he did was for the right. He did not want someone like that for a mother, for a mate or even a fling. Finally as the sun was high and the bit of snow that had fallen started to melt, he made it to the hut beside the salt water and saw the rest of his family. He wanted something like this, this was what was important.

Anything else?-Waves big cheering flag- Luck everyone!

Name: Mishi (Female) ;; Makla (Male)
Which Basket you would want: Number Two. ^^
How many soquili you own: One, a pretty little Usdia.
Teepee: I don't have one yet, but I'm in the process of obtaining it. : waiting on the teepee moderator to make it :

{For the sake of the Personality and Role-Play, I'm going to write the basket as a Male. Though they will, of course, still apply if it turns out to be a female.}

Personality: Makla is a rather daring young foal. He's adventurous, quick witted, and shockingly brave. Despite the fear of some creatures, he finds that no matter what seems to be going on, if it involves his family, he can do whatever it takes to protect them. With the protection of his family around him, he feels even more brave, without them, he seems to shy away, yet still has the want to show that he is a smooth as a river stone. There are those rare moments in which the young foal find fear over running his life. But the look of his family makes him decide against it, and quickly move to stand up. He's outspoken, swift footed, and knows that at some point, he can make it through life and make his parents proud, raise his own family, and live his life in the eyes of the blessed.
Prompt: Prompt Three

He stood, body strong, tall. His head was held proud, elegant main tossed somewhat in his eyes, head lifted up toward the sky. His eyes flickered to watch as an eagle, elegant and swift, moved across the sky, letting out a cry of pleasure. Makla smiled, eyes seeming to light up at the view. He flicked his tail a bit, causing the long strands of hair to twitch some. His ears perked up at the sound of an approaching horse. Without looking back, he smiled, watching the eagle for a few more seconds, before turning his head, long neck stretched, to watch the young mare move to stand beside him, smiling toward him.

"Hello, Makla." She said, voice soft.

His eyes seemed to soften, hearing her. He'd fallen for this young mare months before, and finally, they had decided to start a family together. The time was coming to where they were ready to finally have baskets. He leaned his head, lightly nuzzling his nose against her neck. She let out a whinny, before playfully butting his head with her own and dashing down a hill. Makla laughed a bit, before rearing up and letting out a loud neigh and dashing after her. The win whipped through his mane and tail, causing it to seem like an river in the wind. They ran together for hours, playfully nudging each other and laughing. Eventually, she laid in the grass, smiling up at him. He looked to her, staying standing, body held proudly.

Which was when all hell seemed to escape.

His eyes lifted at the sight of a large stallion running over. Makla stared, eyes narrowing slowly. It'd been months, nearly a year since he last spoke to Kenji. He stepped forward, leaving the young mare's side, meeting his brother about half way, head somewhat tilted. It was then that his regal brother told him the news. Sokinnin, another of his siblings, was ill. To the point of death. They stood in the field for nearly an hour, talking in whispers, shaking their heads. Makla glanced over his shoulder toward the mare, watching her quietly before looking back forward. He knew he was going to go to his brother's side, the problem was telling his new mate the news. He inclined for his brother to go on, that he'd catch up in a little bit, and meet him at Owletta's home to help with his elder brother.

Turning, Makla walked back to the mare. He laid down beside her, head held up, jaw tight. ".... Sokinnin has fallen deathly ill..."

The mare stared at him, blinking curiously. "Sokinnin?"

"Yes, dear one. My elder brother. It seems that he's... that he could be dying. I have to go to him."

"What?"

"I'm going to see him. I am sorry, my dear, that we could not start our family as we planned this coming week." He leaned to nuzzle her neck, before slowly standing. "But I must go, I've no choice. He's my brother. I will not leave him. We can... start when I get back."

Without another word, Makla stood, and started off, hooves beating the ground hard. It took him nearly a day to reach the home by the beach, breath coming out in heavy pants. He flicked his ears forward, until his eyes located the yellow furred stallion lying in a small makeshift shelter, a bed of hay under him. Makla slowly walked forward, watching his ill brother for a few seconds. He was met by his parents, and Kenji, and explained the situation. He nodded, lying carefully near the shelter and watching, eyes alert. He wasn't going to allow anyone he didn't know to get anywhere near the other male. No one would hurt his brother. No one.

Night fell quickly, and still, Makla hadn't moved. He was laid by the shelter, and sleeping softly, ears perked to hear any noise. When the sound of hoof fall hit his ears, he figured it was merely his family, coming to check on himself and dear Sokinnin. It wasn't until a blanket fell on his back did he open his eyes. His head lifted, turning to stare toward the kind person.

To be met with the eyes of the mare he'd fallen in love with. He blinked a few times, before slowly smiling toward her and standing up. His nose easily found hers, nuzzling her softly and whispering a small thank you. She merely smiled, and nudged his neck, before lying down. He joined her, and together, they slept while watching out for the ill male. Months passed, and eventually Sokinnin was better. The couple ended up leaving, going back to their home out in the wild, and started their own family, where the prospect of life was held in pride in Makla's eyes.

Anything else?
I got my first Soq.
But I'm still all up for my first basket~

And I still loves them soo~

Name: Freesha(Girl)Aloren(Boy)
Which Basket you would want: #1
How many soquili you own: 3 (two are mine, two are co-owned)
Teepee: LINK
Personality: To start out, Aloren would be a bright springy boy, eager to learn and to see what he can of the world from the shelter of his parents. No matter how much he grew, he would still be a young adventurer inside, unfailingly brave, surprisingly witty at times and always ready to see the world~!!

While Aloren seems childish, he would be a deeply chivalrous stallion when he grew, and would eventually learn to cherish every friendship and every female with a warm heart. He has a secret soft spot for the beauty of flowers and enjoys watching the tiny world of insects, strangely careful with his hoof falls lest he crush one.

He wouldn't like rudeness, can't stand the stuff. He has patience for all sorts of folks but rudebeasts can take a hike.
he doesn't like the cold, he's a very spring time pony, he appreciates the Spring and Summer, enjoying warm sunbaths.
Aloren isn't a lazy boy, he dislikes excuses to not get out and go somewhere. But overall, hes' a generally warm family loving fellow.

Prompt: #1

Aloren was lost, it was official now. The wind howled and lashed at the brittle late Autumn trees, biting him with it's cold. Aloren shivered and looked around vainly in the dark, his bright coat showing like a beacon to all the nocturnal animals that roamed the desolate frosty night. He had gone adventuring that day, but had been regrettably so interested in the flora and fauna of the forest that he had gotten himself into quite a pony pickle. He decided to stay put, as his mother had taught him and call for help, surely somebeast would hear him...hopefully the good kind. " Helloooooo?" he called out to the wind, only getting a light howl from the wind in the trees. He wrinkled his brow, not to be so easily scared and tried again, this time louder " HALLLLOOOOO?" he waited, the wind changed direction slightly, rushing through the treetops and carrying a bone chilling hiss along with it.
" Sssstop your caterwauling you miserable lesser, you're making my ears ring."

Aloren was not a coward, not anywhere close, but this particular voice made the little foal feel like he had ice running through his veins. He swallowed loudly and called out to the voice, trying to keep the tremble out of his tone " hello? someone there? i'm lost, do you think you can help me?" He grounded his hooves and after an agonizing few seconds, he heard hoof falls from in front of him, he peered into the velvety darkness, eager to see who or what he was sharing the night with. Soon another foal, roughly about the same size padded oddly into the dim moonlight. " i may have answered you lesser, but i don't think you'd want MY help" the foal cackled, a sound very much like that of a carrion bird. Aloren eyed the visitor in obvious surprise. The foal in question was a pretty daunting sight, with a midnight blue coat and bright red eyes that seemed to glow in the darkness. To top it all off he had viciously sharp fangs, bat like wings and a very snaky looking tail. Deadly and beautiful, like most predators he had seen before. "errr...hi~" A warning went off in his little brain " hey, i've heard of something like you before" he mused for a minute as the foal before him belittled him further, hissing and making fun of his light coat. Then, like the whispering wind above, his mothers voice called from his subconscious " now Aloren, there are creatures out there that aren't as nice as your friends, they're called Kalona. They are mean and vicious creatures, and intimidate others with their fangs and bad tempers. they care nothing for anyone but themselves...if ever you run into one, and i pray you do not. RUN! run like the wind Aloren. They will get you if you let them."

He snapped back in to focus, a new uneasiness behind his bright eyes as he stared at his, at this point, highly unwanted guest. The Kalona foal, a natural for picking out the weakness called fear smirked, standing as proud and cocky as he could, flashing a veritable mouthful of fangs " what's this? finally get what i am? HAH, lessers should know their place!"
Aloren set his jaw and huffed, Kalona or no Kalona, he didn't appreciate name calling." Now see here"He gruffed, mimicking the voice of his father, "My name's Aloren, not lesser, got it?"
The Kalona foal hissed and him and took a threatening step forward, snapping at him, and causing Aloren to back up just a hair. The Kalona spat at him " how DARE you talk back to ME pittiful lesser~!! i am a Kalona, greatest of Soquili~!! you were stupid enough to come alone in the dark and now i shall make mincemeat of you! and my mommy n daddy will reward me~!!"

Aloren raised an eyebrow and huffed, having had juuust about enough of this guy " ahhh go boil your tail, i'm not scared of you!, go hide under your moms tail where you belong!"
thinking to himself that his mothers ears would burn if she had heard such language from her little boy.

He refocused and watched the Kalona warily, who, while looking VERY peeved, had a very puzzled look on his vicious face, probably not used to prey talking back to him. In reality this particular Kalona foal was a spoiled brat who enjoyed chasing those that were scared, and currently his face was flushed a deep purple of shame, a sure sign that he was about to throw an epic temper tantrum. The foal bared his vicious fangs and howled at him "WHYYYY YOUUUU~!"Aloren laid his ears back on his skull, reading to run and maneuver however he needed to, fully expecting the toothy Kalona foal to come lunging at him when suddenly the the Kalona threw back his head and yowled " MOOOOOM~!!! this light coated lesser is picking on meeee~!!"
"MOM"~!?" Aloren, while a brave boy, had heard enough, oh he could have dealt with one his size, but "mom" must be at least TWICE that. " SEE YAAAA~!!!"

Needing no further bidding he shot off like a wild hare being chased by hell hounds, adrenaline shooting through his veins like electricity. Leaving the snooty Kalona foal to whine and hiss at his mommy. Surprisingly, he was out before he knew it, zipping out of the forest from the side and running in the direction home with the wind at his heels. His breaths heavy and clear as trailing heat clouds followed him off into the open night, the only indication that he had been there, bruised foliage and a very irritable Kalona babe. Whom with some luck, he would never cross paths with again. He soon found the warm comfort of home and regaled his happy, but horrified folks of what he had encountered. He had learned a valuable but scary lesson that night.
" Mom, you were right...running is definitely the best option with those rotters!"

Anything else?
If i get a girl she'll be just like this too :3
a little flower <3
Thank you for this opportunity~ ^^
If i win I look forward to rping this little one <3
the family is so beautiful in coat and personality already.
Besides all that. Good luck to you all ^__^

Name: Male would be Lucien (the yellow stripes remind me of shafts of light smile ) and female would be Sonata (Verloren reminds me of the Moonlight Sonata for some reason).
Which Basket you would want: The gorgeous green one with yellow stipes <3
How many soquili you own: None... I just got my first Soq! Amitola
Teepee: I dun have one yet, but I'm working on getting one...
Personality: (Gender is female, and the name I'm going to use for this and the prompt is Sonata.) Sonata has always had wanderlust. She wants to see the world, discover things, and meet new people along the way. Sonata also doesn't mind stopping in her tracks to help someone in need, especially if they're sick or hurt. As a very young filly, she got so sick that the only thing anyone could hope to do was pray (we could roleplay this, by the way smile ), and so likes to help others who have come upon hard times.
Prompt: Prompt 3 (partner's name is Tybalt because I can't think of anything else. He has a rather fiery personality, too -feels like a Shakespearean copycat-)

Sonata was worried. One of her neighbors in the woods had told her this afternoon that her brother was sick - with the same illness she had had as a filly. No one, not even Owletta, knew a remedy for it. She'd run to Tybalt's meadow, her mind hardly upon anything but her smaller brother, Julian.

"Tybalt!" she cried, looking around for him when she found the meadow empty. "Where are you?"

"I am here," called Tybalt, attempting a rather sultry, lazy voice from the bushes. The salal rustled as he fought his way through it. Tybalt saw the look on his mare's face (for she certainly was his) and tried to hide his sharp intake of breath. She looked frightened. Very, very frightened.

"What is it, Sona?" he asked, crooning his favorite nickname to her, trying to calm her down. He knew he'd never get anything out of her if she was shocked and stiff. He rested his neck on hers. "What has happened to scare you so?"

Sonata heard his voice and exhaled a breath she had forgotten she was holding. The chattering sound of the glossy green salal leaves brushing against each other as he entered the clearing soothed her a little, but not as much as his voice did.

She waited in silence as he crossed the clearing and asked her questions. When Tybalt laid his neck against hers, she finally relaxed. The warmth was wonderful. "Tybalt, my brother is sick. I need to go see him, " Sonata said, surprised to hear a strange edge in voice. "He has the sickness that nearly killed me when I was young."

Tybalt lifted his head from her neck and looked at her. "We just settled here. We can't just leave! I have family here. I cannot leave them to go care for yours," he said, indignant. Sonata thought he would leave his own family to go care for hers, and maybe catch this illness? Not a chance.

"My brother may die, Tybalt," Sonata said sadly. "Don't you understand that?" She felt as if the world was falling right on top of her, complete with all of its woe and melancholy.

"On another note, I am a wanderer. I don't settle." She spat the word like it was poison. "Especially not for stallions that don't understand something this simple. I haven't been home since I left when I was still a foal, and my brother needs me. I'm going, with or without you."

Tybalt felt like he was on fire. She'd never spoken to him like this before. Sonata really did have to go... And she would leave without him, if she had to. "I'll go," he said, "but I have to make sure my family understands first."

Without looking at her, he went to find his parents and siblings. Surely they'd understand. He hoped.

Sonata sighed in relief as he left. Usually, she couldn't sway him, but this time, something had changed. She'd found some passion way down where she'd never looked.

If she could find that flame of passion for arguements, maybe there was hope for Julian. It'd be okay.

Anything else? Any RP, family or otherwise, is wonderful. <3 Also, thank you for this chance at such wonderfully pretty baskets!

Name: Nova(fem) Anoki(male)
Which Basket you would want: #2
How many soquili you own: None yet :]
Teepee: I'm waiting till I get a soq to set one up.
Personality: Anoki is a little actor. He enjoys using the energy he inherited from his mother to drive his brothers insane with his inspired drama. Anoki will push his limits in appearing perfect for whatever role he's acting out in his head. He doesn't even need an audience! This is, of course, a bit odd when he's out in the meadow talking to the wind and the leaves and bushes like they're are characters in a story.

He also managed to pick up some of his father's childish habits. Crunchy-looking leaves, no matter how far out of his way, must be crunched!

Prompt: #1

The little foal laughed as he chased the little leaf through the woods. It was escaping him! Kicking up his feet a little more, the boy galloped between the trees, his hooves catching some of the stiller leaves that littered the forest floor. The sun was quickly falling and Anoki was already deep in the trees where he should not be. The wind finally dropped the colt's little victim and he pounced. A little queer to see a Soquili pounce like a cat, but that's exactly what he did. He danced on the fragile auburn leaf, enjoying the crackling noises for the short time they lasted.

Looking up from his completed exploit, Anoki finally noticed how dark the night was. There was hardly any light to follow his path into the creepy wooded lands back home. The wind kicked up again, scattering more leaves over the area that the colt had cleared with his own speed. The gods were making this difficult on him. Slowly, he started picking his way back, his head bent close to the chilly ground. The light disappeared at a faster pace than the foal's, but he wasn't worried.

As he wandered aimlessly, the sun's warmth finally completely gone from the lands for the night, Anoki sniffled. He was cold and lonely. Even his great powers of pretended, which normally needed no prompting, were lax. His steps slowed as his eyelids got heavier. It was so late for him. The colt blinked, and opened his eyes wide. In front of him was a soft, beaconing light. With a little more speed, he trotted toward it.

The source of the light was definitely different. The filly in front of him had pale lavender skin and dark, ragged wings. Her tail was scaly and quite odd. Everything about her grated on his nerves and mind. Even her voice as she called over to him.
"You're not my sister. I should call Mommy."

Anoki shook his head. "Just because I'm not your sister doesn't mean you should call your mommy. You're not my brother but I'm not calling my daddy." He tentatively took a step forward, before his pretending powers kicked in. He puffed out his chest and grew a little more confident. The filly cocked her head as she took in the sight of the colt talking to her.

"You're not Kalona. Mommy says I should eat any creature that isn't Kalona." She was right. He wasn't Kalona and he hoped there wasn't any trace of these foul, mouthy demons in his bloodlines. She took a few steps forward before he could throw out a battered retort. "I am too Kalona." His voice was trembling a bit and Anoki tried to mask it as he shook his head, tossing his mane back.

The foal with the dark wings snorted and leaned forward. Whispering, she spoke in his ear.
"No you're not." She opened her mouth and bit down on his shoulder. Struggling, panic flooding the receptors in his head, Anoki head-butted the filly, going against everything his dad had ever taught him about girls.

The boy tossed his body, the filly's sharp teeth ripping his flesh deep as he broke away. Turning, he galloped back into the dark forest, his shoulder burning. All the way home, tears threatened and his mommy's name was on the tip of his lips. Only the threat of calling more Kalona to him kept Anoki as silent as he possibly could be.

Name: Female - Lilith, Male - Zoki
Which Basket you would want: #1
How many soquili you own: none, yet
Teepee: none
Personality: He is very playful and fun-loving, but has a hard time making friends. He is quite timid with new experiences and meeting others. He likes to stick close to his mother and finds her care and protection to make him feel stronger. However, he wishes he was more bold and courageous. He dreams of being a strong stallion able to protect and care for the ones he cares about. So he has inner conflicts between his desire to be brave and protective and his timidness holding him back. This also would show through in his seeking his mother for protection and comfort (or others he is close to later on). He will feel ashamed as he grows older if he continues to seek comfort from others, and thus have fits of moodiness. Ultimately he will learn to be independent and brave. However, he will always be playful like his parents and love to play in mud! He loves his family and any close friends he makes with all his heart and would put them above most anything else.

Prompt: #1

Zoki yawned and blinked as he slowly opened his eyes. He looked around, seeing nothing but dark forest and realized he'd fallen asleep in the woods again. A panic surged over him as he realized how dark it was and how alone he was. Quickly, he stood and looked around frantically. Where was he? He couldn't remember just how far into the woods he'd ventured. He'd been upset, he remembered. He wanted to prove to himself that he wasn't a baby anymore. That he could explore on his own without his mother keeping watch over him. He hated it. Hated being out alone. But he so badly wanted to be brave, and to prove just how brave he could be, he had wondered off into the woods by himself...and without his mom know where he had gone.

The wind blew, rustling the leaves in the trees. The beams of moonlight that managed to make it past the foliage danced on the ground around him giving the entire area and eerie glow. Zo swallowed hard. I shouldn't have come out here. Something... anything could happen to me! I bet there's something watching me right now; I can feel it! he thought and then shook his head, trying to shake the frightening thoughts from his mind. He was brave.. he really was. However, his body did not agree. His little legs began to shake and wobble. He locked his legs to keep from moving and gritted his teeth. "I am brave," he said aloud to try to convince himself.

"Oh, really?" a menacing voice pierced through the silence. Zo stood frozen, completely unable to move. "You don't look brave at all to me," the voice continued. Slowly a shadowy figured stepped out from behind some trees and began to approach. As it stepped into the moonlight, a terrifying face was revealed; then a set of demonic looking wings. Zoki knew what this creature was, his mom had warned him of this kind; a Kalona, though a young one.

The Kalona began to circle Zo, staring him down with her evil glare. "Aren't you going to try to run?" she asked in an annoyed tone. The foal finally came to a stop in front of him, waiting for an answer. When none came, she stamped one of her front and flapped her wings angrily. "Can't you talk?" she growled.

Zo managed a meek nod and continued to stare at her. He swallowed hard, trying to bring his voice back. "Of... of course I can," he barely got out.

"Alright, so why don't you run now?" she asked with a smirked, showing off gleaming white fangs.

He didn't have a good answer; he couldn't tell her he was scared stiff. He wanted to be brave. He breathed out deeply, relaxing himself a little. If she was going to hurt him, then there was no escaping it now; he could never outrun her. "Maybe..maybe I-I'm not afraid of you."

The Kalona laughed and stomped her foot, seeming to find his response amusing. "Not afraid? Yeah right! You reek of fear!" She lunged at him and landed just short of him, snapping her teeth just inch from his face.

Zoki flinched but didn't run However, his body gave away his true fear as he began to tremble again. If you're going to hurt me... then do it already and get it over with."

"Bold," She snorted. "That's quite bold of you, little weakling." She glared at him again, watching his every move though he moved none. After a moment of tense staring, she just shrugged. "Well if you aren't going to run, it's really no fun is it?" She continued to look at him, as if waiting for something to happen.

He blinked, a little confused, but not about to ask questions. Was that all this Kalona was interested in? Would he get away that easily? No, she didn't seem to be ready to leave at all, he thought. How cruel! She was going to stalk him until he decided to run for it then she would attack! His ears flattened back against his head. "I'm not going to run," he suddenly blurted out, feeling almost as bold as he sounded.

The Kalona reared up on her hind legs. "You will if I make you run!" she practically yelled at him. She landed back on her front feet with a threatening thud.

Tears sprung to Zo's eyes, and he fought to keep them back. I'm brave, I'm not scared, I am brave he repeated to himself.

Suddenly, a distant voice could be heard calling over what sounded to be a long distance.Zo couldn't make out what it was saying, but the Kalona seemed to recognize it. She immediately froze dead still and slowly turned her head in the direction of the call. "I have to go..." she said through gritted teeth. She quickly turned back to Zoki and resumed the I'm-so-evil-fear-me act. "But if I ever see you again, I'm going to tear you up. You hear me?" Another cal was heard in the distance and then the Kalona growled and shot off into the darkness.

Zo stood staring after her for a moment, wondering what exactly had just happened. Then he suddenly realized he was free! He needed to run, and run fast before that Kalona changed her mind! He tore off in the opposite direction she had gone, not really sure where he was going, but just glad to be farther away from the danger. He let his tears fall freely from his eyes now that there was no one to see him. He continued to race through the woods until finally he dashed out into a clearing. He blinked to clear the tears from his eyes and looked around. "I'm home!" he exclaimed excitedly.
