The day was warm and sunny, a perfect day to let the children out to play. Kokoro decided to take her little Pippa out for a walk. The woods were clearing, opening into a small grassy field. "Pippa! Not so fast!" She called as the child ran ahead, trotting quickly to keep up without having to run. She wished Pippa could see more than just what was in front of her nose. Wait? Why wait? She was outside! The sun was out! Birds were singing! So many sounds and smells! Pippa was far too excited to wait for her mother, the slow poke. Currently, a grasshopper had caught her ruby eyes as she hopped after it, trying to catch it in her paws. "C'm'er' you!" She yipped.

Kelder was rolling around in the tall grass, enjoying the sun when something caught his eye. He rolled back to his feet and laid crouching, looking around for what had flashed by his eyes. Moments later a small grasshopper went by and he flicked his tail, ready to pounce after it. As he jumped a voice caught him by surprise, one he recognized as his sister Pippa's.
"Pippa!" he grinned happily, landing on the ground and turning around. "Whatcha doin'?"(( Sorry, my computer crashed as I was writing this and I was irritated for a little while xD ))

Pippa growled again, chasing the grasshopper when she heard her brother call. "Kelder!" she squeaked, her attention instantly veering from the grasshopper to the boy with colors that matched herself. "Me? Oh, I'm, um..." She turned her head, spotting Kokoro coming up over the small rise. "I'm on a walk with Momma! What about you? You wanna walk with us?"
Kokoro made her easy way up to the clearing, her eyes bright when she heard and saw her son and daughter together. What an unexpected surprise! She smiled as she got closer to the two kits. "Hello, darling." She said happily, nuzzling the boy's head against hers.
(( Silly computer! ))

Kelder grinned happily as he saw his mother coming up the small hill.
"Hi Mommy." he chirped before turning back to Pippa. He flashed her his usual shy smile while he absent-mindedly pawed at her tail, "I'm not doin' anything. I'd love to go for a walk, maybe we'll find something awesome."

Happy that one of her sons was around, she padded ahead, making sure the area was clear and safe for the kits to play.
Pippa turned to bat at Kelder's paw, her voice quickening in her excitement. "I'm sure we'll find something neat! Maybe bugs, or fairies, or maybe a turtle! I want to see a turtle one day." She jumped up to follow Kokoro, high energy as ever. "Mommy! Can we see a turtle?"

Kelder giggled as Pippa batted at his paw.
"Yeah I hope we see a turtle too." he added quietly. Suddenly his ears perked, his nose caught a strange scent and he lifted his head to sniff at the air. "Mama, what's that smell? It smells really strange."
He flicked his ears and looked around, but aside from various flowers and a few more grasshoppers he didn't see anything unusual. Then out of the corner of his eye a brown fuzzy thing was waddling through the meadow. It had a long black tail and was chubby. He frowned, not sure what the little rodent was.
(( Hehe, I love woodchuck's. biggrin ))

"If a turtle happens to come up here, you may see it." Kokoro's ears pricked up, turning to find what Kelder was smelling. She saw it quickly and shook her head. "That's a woodchuck, darling. Don't get too close to it. They can be very dangerous if they feel threatened."
Pippa didn't catch her mother's answer though, spinning around to see what her brother was talking about. "Woodchuck? It looks cute mommy! Can we take it home? Can we? Pleeeeeeeeease??"

Kelder giggled softly at Pippa. He wanted to go over and play with the woodchuck, but he knew better than to disobey his Mommy. He was just so curious though, maybe a little sniff wouldn't hurt. Inching closer and closer to the woodchuck, he smiled sweetly and wagged his tail back and forth playfully.
"H-hi. Wanna play?" he said to the little critter but it didn't look like it wanted to play at all.

The mother smiled at her daughter's excitement, but shook her head. "Pippa, I just said they can be dangerous. Like that be you found a few days ago. Remember?" Her ears flicked at Kelder's question, head whipping slightly with sharp eyes, alert to any threat the woodchuck may present to her son.
Pippa flattened her ears at the memory of that fuzzy little bumblebee. It had looked so cute... "Fine."She sighed and chose to ignore the rodent, padding over to a thatch of bright pink flowers instead and gave them a bit of her attention.

Kelder puffed out his cheeks when the woodchuck didn't seem interested in playing with him. He flicked his tail back and forth in boredom until a low hiss startled him. The woodchuck had fluffed up its fur and was standing defensively.
"U-uh. I-I'm sorry!" he squeaked, backing away slowly with his tail between his legs. Once he was far enough he took off in a sprint, running behind his Mother for good measure before coming up beside his sister. "T-that was scary. I don't think I like woodchucks anymore. These are pretty, huh?"

Kokoro instantly stood at the woodchuck's hiss, stepping forward so that Kelder wouldn't have to walk so far to get to her. She pressed her nose to his head comfortingly, then turned and growled at the woodchuck to make a point.
Cocking her head, Pippa nodded. "Yep. They kinda look like fairy dresses." She said dreamily. "Can't you just see it?"

Kelder felt better now that he was away from the grumpy woodchuck, especially since his mother had offered him comfort. He giggled quietly at Pippa as she spoke about the flowers.
"You're silly, all I see is flowers. Wanna go explore?"

Once the woodchuck waddled away, Kokoro turned and kept a careful eye on her children.
Pippa frowned. "No, really! Dresses!" She forgot about the flowers though as Kelder mentioned exploring. "Yay!" She squeaked, bouncing up and crouching down to face her brother, tail flapping in the air. "Where should we explore?"

Kelder looked over to his Mommy, unsure if she'd be willing to let them go far. Maybe if she would go too then they could go anywhere! He wasn't so sure though. He half heard Pippa insist the flowers looked like dresses.
"I still just see flowers." he grinned, figuring he'd yank her tail a little bit. Figuratively of course, he was never one to even play hurt his family. "I dunno, maybe we should just pick a way and go?"

Pippa perked her ears eagerly. "Just a random direction?" She wagged her tail, spinning in circles until she fell over. "Oof!, Er, this way!" She squeaked dizzily, looking at where her nose was pointed and trying to get to her paws.
Kokoro chuckled at her daughter, shaking her head. She so enjoyed watching the children together.
