It was late evening, and Parker was reclining on his brand new mattress with Dani. There was no frame yet, but that didn't matter. Dani laid tucked into his side, head partially on his chest, partially on his arm. The hand that wrapped around her traced idly up her arm, making tiny circles and curling bends. They'd gone to dinner that night and had plans to patrol when it got later. For now, they were relaxing together. When Parker was with Dani, he felt more at ease than he did anywhere else.

Adjusting the pillow with his free hand, Parker tucked his chin into Dani's hair and planted a kiss there. "I have to talk to you about something," he said. She tensed in his arms. "About Tate." His roommate was not there that night. He'd checked that over and over again just to be safe. If she came back, he'd hear her at the door in enough time to end the conversation. It had a nasty squeak.

On the floor, the still unnamed gray kitten rolled around in one of Parker's dirty sweatshirts. Parker leaned his head back. "Tate told me she is friends with a Negaverse agent named Wolfram. I think that's a nickname. Does it ring a bell?" There were more severe implications than if Dani merely knew the Nega, but he would tackle those in time.

Dani's parents had not been pleased to find that her boyfriend had moved out of Hillworth and into an apartment. Her father, specifically, had been exponentially less pleased than her mother, and had tried to extract a promise from her that she would never stay at the apartment past ten P.M., which had led to a huge fight in the living room. Vincent Rymner wasn't usually a man who yelled, but it could sometimes be impossible to be heard over his fifteen year-old daughter otherwise, and so he had indulged for the afternoon. By the time Madelynn came home, it was to find both of them red-faced and spitting angry, and she'd spent the better part of an hour sorting them out.

In the end, Vincent had gotten no promise from Dani, which was her goal. Her mother had managed to corner her and have a brief, frank talk with her, and she might have made a couple of promises there, but those were private and really none of her father's business. (They were probably her father's business, but Dani wasn't going to be the one to start that conversation.) Consequently, by the time she'd left her house to have dinner with Parker, she was in only a slightly better mood than when she'd been pitching a fit at her father.

Thankfully, the walk to the subway had been long enough to cool her down, and a relaxing dinner with Parker had put her back in a fine mood. She knew from experience that she and Parker were more than capable of fighting, and fighting big, but these days, there wasn't a great deal that would set them off. They were still walking on eggshells regarding certain topics (Re: Marcus Damhnait) but other than that, they were good.

Which, you know, was why she tensed when he said "I have to talk to you about something." It was just a slightly different version of "We need to talk." which no one ever wanted to hear. Thankfully, he followed it up quickly with "About Tate." though that didn't actually help her suspicions much.

Dani had made it no secret that she was unimpressed her boyfriend was sharing an apartment with a girl. The fact that she knew the girl did little to mollify her, though she could at least comfort herself that if push came to shove she could kick Tate's a**. Dani was a jealous and possessive person, and would not be above a good old-fashioned fistfight if it looked like someone was trying to move in on her boyfriend. Immature? Maybe. Ridiculous? Probably.

She'd do it anyway.

Shifting, she turned moody green eyes up at him, examining the line of his profile as he spoke. Her skin crawled a bit at the mention of a Negaverse agent, and she combed through her memory, but couldn't recall anyone by that name. That didn't exactly comfort her.

"I don't know the name," she said after a moment, bringing a hand up to rest it against Parker's chest. She liked having her palm there, where she could feel his heartbeat. "Why the hell is she friends with someone from the Negaverse?"

There was no denying the implication of She's a complete idiot in her tone.

Technically, Parker still lived at Hillworth, but he viewed that as the place where he slept and the apartment in East Heights as the place where he lived. The second he had his diploma in hand, Parker planned on dashing out of that school as fast as his legs could carry him. He already had most of his things at the East Heights apartment anyway, and Tate was living there full time. It was his place, and Dani was its most frequent visitor.

The Tate issue came up from time to time. Parker had been surprised at first. In his mind, Tate didn't really register as female, just friend. The idea of caring about her romantically made him feel incestuous. Most of Dani's agitation over his selection of roommate had been regarded as adorable. Look how precious, how she worried!

Time spent with Tate and Parker together had hopefully alleviated that stress, but Parker couldn't be sure. After the first couple discussions (during which it was too late, the lease been signed), the topic had more or less been dropped. Well, aside from the occasional comment. Parker found it mostly endearing that Dani would be jealous at all.

"I wish I knew. I don't even know how they met, and after the way I reacted, I'm not sure she'll talk to me about it again." Parker sighed, his chest deflating under her hand. "We were at the beach and she just looks at me and goes, 'What do you think about the Negaverse?' Just like that. I was afraid I might yell."

It was a delicate line he walked keeping his senshi identity secret from Tate, and it seemed to get more difficult with each passing day. "She was sympathetic. She said that not all Negaverse agents are the same, and that Wolfram protects her. Dani," he said, craning down to look at her, "I really don't like her tone. It was... infatuated." He sighed again. This topic made him sigh.
