It was one of the rare occasions where the exuberant young woman was going around in public without a costume. Today she sported, instead, a green mini-dress (which hit well above her knees), cut from the same green material as her princess-y ball gown, with a wide purple belt and purple ankle boots.

She had just found her way to a strange shop. Maggie normally didn't take to wandering the streets of Durem, but Barton was getting so droll these days. And she was always looking for anything new she could play with, or use in her costumes, or decorate her house with.

The door swung back as she opened it and entered the shop, glancing around. There certainly was a number of curious things in here! She was sure she'd find something fun.

Switch was wandering the shop, poking and prodding at a few items that she didn't know she even had. Ever since she had taken over, she had been keeping track of the items that come in to the shop, and a lot of the ones that were already there. But on occasion an item would surface that would throw her for a loop, and one such item certainly arose.

"Where the heck did you come from?" She curiously asked a giant replica of an ancient Egyptian sarcophagus. While she was sure something so big should have caught her attention sooner, she knew the shop more or less had a mind of it's own...on top of being so messy one probably could lose a sarcophagus in it. "Huh, well, okay." Shrugging, she opened her book and wrote it down in her inventory, and made a note to find a price later on.

Soon enough though, the door to the shop opened, dragging Switch's baffled attention from the large sarcophagus to the curious woman who entered.

"Oh, hello there! Welcome to Balcombe, my name is Switch. If you need any assistance, please don't hesitate to yell to me." She prattled off happily, waving her fingers at the new comer.

"Huh? Oh, yeah...sure," Maggie said, blankly looking over at the woman who had spoken. Although her attire had changed, her personality hadn't, and today (like...pretty much any other day) her goldfish-attention spanned brain was at it's best. If she had been normal (or less forgetful) at all, she might have been relieved at the shop owners apparent lack of ...well, wanting to saddle her with another charge.

Her brain had yet to piece together that every time she walked into a strange new shop, she managed to come out with another child to take care of.

Not that it bothered her. She loved the activity in her shop-home, and her house seemed to accommodate each time she brought someone new home.

"There's no order in here!" she exclaimed, although it was with an oddly satisfied tone. It reminded her of her fabric room.

Switch couldn't help but laugh. "Not even remotely." Order? In this shop? Yeah right. "I swear this place has a mind of it's own, I tried so hard to put an order to it, but it always ends up looking...well like this." Chuckling, she motioned to the mess that was the shop, then went back to poking at the sarcophagus, wondering if she could open it without hurting or breaking anything. Probably not.

"Though I kind of know where some things are...is there anything you're looking for in particular?" After a brief glance at the woman, she went back to trace some of the designs with the brunt of her pen. "Liiike...metal things, those fun evolving items that float around Gaia...maybe some fancy clothes?"

Maggie had a cheery laugh, and it filled the shop as she shook her head.

"No, no. I've got plenty of fancy clothes, I don't need any help on that end." She tilted her head to the side, and her red curls bobbed against her shoulder. "Evolving items?" She didn't really get out much, but some of her customers had talked about them. A few had even worn some when they came in, and some had seemed quite intriguing to her.

"Do you have a lot of them?" she asked. She wasn't even sure how an evolving item worked. She had heard you could get lots of items from the one, and had wondered how, but had never bothered (or had forgotten moments later) to go out and look into it.

"I do, actually!" Smiling, she left the sarcophagus and wandered to her desk, putting her book and pen down to instead pick up a box that was sitting beside it. The Evolving items were expensive and rare, so she generally held them away once she knew they existed, until they were asked for. Motioning the woman over, Switch opened the box for her, taking out one of the duplicates she knew she had, the Hidden Ace, and held it between her hands.

"Have you ever got to play with one before? They're pretty fun." Giggling, she scrolled through an item list that the Hidden Ace had, picking what she wanted with a light touch before placing the EI onto her head. Her blue hair grew and curled in cloud like arcs at the end, even changing colour until it was a light pink. "A little too much fun, to be honest." She grinned, clearly amused.

"Go ahead, give some a try!"

She giggled, as the girls blue hair changed before her eyes. Maggie poked through the box, passing over some items that weren't very fanciful. She ignored a strange voodoo looking doll and a strange dark pillow with a glowing ring.

She picked up a pink and gold sugar bowl, wondering how one "wore" a sugar bowl. She finally decided by letting it rest briefly on her shoulder, where it dissolved in a shower of pinks sugar and reformed around her shoulders as a delicate wrap. "Oh!" she exclaimed.

Next she picked up a little floral bell. She held it to her chest, and suddenly she was wearing a pretty yellow dress, which she spun in, before putting it back.

Finally her hand passed over a blue book, that had a glass slipper on the cover. She knew that story! Excitedly, almost greedily, she grabbed for the book. It changed into a pair of sparkling glass shoes as her hands closed around the book.

The shopkeep chuckled as her customer played with the changing items, taking off the pink wig and setting the hidden ace back down into the box. She loved playing with them, but she wasn't too keen on wearing them constantly. The moment the book was touched there was a pull at the back of her mind; that woman had to go home with that book (well, now a pair of glass shoes) one way or another.

"Oh, you know what? That one there actually has a defect to it." She lied easily, eyeing the book (well, shoes). "The original owner of that said something about it being scratched...for the life of me I can't find it though. I've looked it over several times in different lights, it looks perfect to me." Shrugging, she lightly pressed her hands against the other woman's, gently pushing the Enchanted Book slippers closer to her. "If you like, you are more than welcome to take it home."

If Maggie had had any sense, she might have listened to the tugging at the back of her own head. But as it was, she just misread it to be some sort of guilt over wanting to take the woman up on the offer, but feeling bad about her not seeming to have asked for any money for it.

"Well, I mean..." she trailed off, lost in thought, as though she could almost hear an angel and demon on her shoulder arguing it out. "I'd love to," she said finally. "How much would you like for it?" She was sure her little shoulder-demon was beating her up, for not just taking it and running.

"Ah, It's alright, you may take it for free. I can't imagine any sort of trader would want it...even though I can't see a thing wrong with it." Switch pouted, pretending to lament over the false state of the apparently mildly damaged evolving item. Of course, she knew it was perfect, and any amount of scrutinizing would prove that as well...but as long as it got out of the shop!

"So you'll take it, then?"

"If you're sure..." Maggie said, but it was really just said as a formality, for she had already slipped off her ankle boots and was trying on the slippers.

How hard had she looked for an ACTUAL pair of glass slippers before?? She had just about given up. The red-head clacked around in them, tripping a bit (glass shoes were, apparently, harder to walk in than normal heels!) and then finally turning back to Switch.

"Thank you!" she said, beaming, and then slipping them off. She didn't want to get them dirty by walking through Durem with them on. She turned to leave, waving at the blue haired woman, already lost in thought about if she should make herself a whole new princess dress, or just wear them with her green one...
