Azzo took the short cut through the park tonight. He was skirting around danger tonight. But he hadn't seen the park since the night the deaths happened. He was keeping tabs how close he was getting, trying to avoid getting too close to any of them.

He stopped on the ground where the deaths happened sighing softly looking around. There really wasn't any thing there, maybe a few scars in the earth. He sighed, as he continued the shortcut through the park.

Pausing when he realized, there was something following him. Ah s**t... Azzo glanced back not seeing anything. However he knew that wasn't good. He picked up his pace hoping it wasn't as big as a tiger this time. "Not good...." He said to himself as he considered the weight of his bag. He wasn't near enough to the buildings yet that he could take shelter there, better yet he was out in the open while, whatever Youma it was this time was lurking in the shadows.

"Where's a senshi when you need them..." He muttered.

The senshi was there. Well, sort of.

Sailor Taranis was camped out on a roof of a store at the edge of the park. He was at least twenty feet from Azzo, maybe a little less. He cursed under his breath to see the civilian wander farther from the alleys and roofs of the street to cut through the park. There wasn't much cover there, and he could sense the youma that loomed in the shadows. It hadn't made its appearance yet.

When it did, Taranis would be forced to leave the roof and face it on even ground. His ranged attack worked much better from a place of elevation, but lately, it seemed like all of his fights ended up becoming wrestling matches.

He couldn't hear what the civilian was saying, but Taranis hopped down into the alleyway. When the youma attacked, Taranis would intercept it. That was the plan.

Azzo closed his eyes, waiting, the shot in the dark of the damn thing coming. He suddenly took off in a run, changing directions as the Youma headed after him, what looked to be a rather large and fluffy Ram was after him.

He blinked for a second as it pawed the ground ready to come after him again, obviously it hadn't noticed the senshi. Instead it was after the boy, Azzo was running back towards the senshi, though not on a collision course. "Damnit." He cursed as he fled the thing gaining on him.

He un-shouldered his bag and threw it clumsily into the path of the ram. Hoping it'd trip up the beast when he ran past a... OHH was that the guy from the other night? He skidded to a stop slipping a bit in the grass. He was now behind the senshi, a considerable way behind him, in fact. Azzo was sure it was a senshi because the guy had been piled in with the rest of them in the little bubble... Azzo hoped this particular senshi wasn't mad at him, or even more so saved him then proceeded to be mad at him. "I'm sorry..." He gasped out trying to catch his breath as he was standing back looking at the ram, letting the senshi have his room. So going into the park was one of the more unfortunate ideas Azzo had, had in a while.

The Ram after having stumbled for a second, was now at a stand still looking at both, it was trying to figure out which would be a better target. The boy or the senshi, giving a distinct grunt watching for which one actually made a move first. It started pawing the ground again to ready itself for another charge. Horns ready to collide with the first thing to get into it's way.

Sailor Taranis took the ram youma's moment of confusion to launch his attack. "Taranis Sand Blast!" he shouted, hands curling around his tiara until an energy equivalent floated into the air. This crumbled into sand and swelled between his hands until it was a large spinning ball that gained speed the longer he held it. Too bad he didn't intend on holding it very long.

The youma was just over Azzo's shoulder, and as Taranis launched his sand blast, he shouted, "Civilian. DUCK." The globe of sand was heaved out of his hand, sailing toward the youma like a tennis stroke.

Taranis half-expected it to run away, but instead, the youma planted its feet and then lowered its head so that the flat of its horns faced the coming impact.

Azzo did as he was told before trying to scramble out of the way watching the sand blast, when he thought he might be safe to stop scrambling, hurl towards the Youma.

Azzo shook his head, watching the Ram looking like it was read to charge again. Into the sand ball? That was stupid, he thought Youma would be a bit smarter.

The ram braced for impact when the sand ball hit it sent the ram slide back just a little, leaving hoof prints in the soil. Giving a snort it started running towards Taranis head lowered.

Azzo watched what it was doing, he went running for his bag. Stupid he shouldn't let go of it. He was hoping he could get to it in time. He couldn't do much but there might be something he could do to help the senshi.

When he reached the bag he started digging in one of the pockets. To find his soda cans hadn't been ruined by the ram the first time. He grinned as he grabbed one and started shaking it. However, he wasn't sure how well this plan would work in distracting the Youma. Unfortunately he wasn't fast enough to zoom there and zoom back, even though he grabbed his bag and tried to get back to the spot he'd been at. Soda in the eyes would hurt right?

So long as the youma was fixated on him, Sailor Taranis didn't particularly care what the civilian was doing. Hopefully not dying. Maybe just watching with awe at the masterful skill with which the Senshi of Sand dispensed evil on a regular basis.

An ego. He had it.

The sand blast struck the youma, and an explosion of sand rocketed out in all the directions, coating its face and fur. The ram staggered backwards, but then raised its head, red eyes narrowed. It had taken a head shot, but appeared relatively unphased by it. If anything, it was more annoyed by the sand in its eyes.

s**t.

The youma took off at a run, lowering its head as it approached Taranis. He jumped away at the last second, and its head made contact with the cement side of the building, splintering off pieces of gray rock in chunks. That... couldn't be good.

Getting to his feet, Sailor Taranis took off at a run. He grabbed the civilian's wrist mid-stride. "You need to get out of here," he said. The ram was moving slowly, getting its bearings after the head butt. It noticed them running and then took off after the pair. Taranis pulled Azzo by his wrist. Maybe he could stash him up a tree? Goddamn parks and their wide open spaces.

Azzo was just glad he hadn't grabbed the arm with the Soda in it. He was trying to keep up, damn senshi and they're being able to run faster.

"I know." He said when he got a second to breath. He was hoping this wasn't going to kill his ribs. He was getting barings on other youma while he could, "Just don't head east." He said, he'd been avoiding that direction for a reason. He knew there was at least one over there. He couldn't really tell how far he wasn't paying enough attention, but it wasn't in the park as far as he could tell, so they were good.

Azzo glanced back the ram seemed to be following them. Azzo shook his head, stupid thing. The red eyes is would've been what gave it away if it wasn't for Azzo being able to feel them, shame there wasn't any dumpsters, though if they even took the route of hiding in one he'd hoped it'd at least been emptied recently.

"Shame you... can't throw... a bench at it." Azzo said in between breaths, thinking how handy that would probably be.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 22, 2010 8:26 am

Don't head east? Excuse him. Was he the one giving orders? Was he the one saving lives? No. The senshi was. The senshi should be the one giving orders.

Sailor Taranis shot the boy a glare. "What do you mean 'don't head east'? East takes us toward the subway." Apparently Taranis was planning to chuck Azzo in a subway car and send him on his merry way.

The ram was gaining speed, and Taranis was finding dragging the civilian more trouble than it was worth. He needed more time to recharge his sand blast before it would work again. He might have tried to throw a bench, but they were bolted to the ground. Taranis had senshi strength, but he was not the Incredible Hulk. As far he knew.

Sliding to an abrupt stop, Taranis reached out to grab a hold of Azzo before the boy could sail out of his grasp. "I'm not asking for battle strategy tips." He snatched the soda from his hand. "Give me that." He'd already taken the can so demanding to have it was hardly necessary.

Winding up, Sailor Taranis chucked the can at the youma. It jumped up and speared it with its horn like a dog catching a frisbee. The can exploded with carbonation, coating the ram's eyes and turning the sand into jellied clumps.

The ram youma snorted and then shook its head, bouncing around in a circle like it was trying to buck off an invisible rider.

Azzo looked at the senshi, "There's another Youma east." He said, "You don't want two after us do you?"

He might not should've said anything, but better to have only one than two on your tail. Granted the Subway wasn't somewhere Azzo had been, nor did he want to go.

Azzo didn't say anything on the battle strategy tips. He looked back watching the Youma seem to have some sort of issues with the soda in it's eyes. Well that worked pretty well, even if it wasn't Azzo that threw it.

The Ram was still shaking his head, apparently more sand had gotten in it's eyes. He took a moment to look slightly amused, "Thank you." He added before glancing back as the ram was trying to rub its head on the ground... If it kept that up it'd either be blind or get the sand out of it's eyes.

Azzo looked around grabbing his baring and pointing towards a set of Ally ways not that far away, "They seem to be the safest? It's a maze we could loose him? Could probably get to the subway as well?" He offered. Heck for all he cared they could take the roofs, he couldn't jump that far but he'd be fine camping on one until the sun started to come up if he had to.

How did this kid know there was another youma east? Even if there was, there might also be another youma north, south, and west too. It was Destiny City. Weird s**t bred like rats in the sewers.

Azzo gave another tip for the battle, and Sailor Taranis snorted. Good idea or not, he wasn't having a civilian telling him how to save his life. This was his job! "I said let me handle it." Derision slipped into Taranis's words.

He jumped forward. The ram youma was too busy trying to get sand and soda out of its eyes to see what he was up to. Taranis swirled his arms around and called, "Taranis Sand Blast!" The globe formed, spun, and was lofted right for the youma.

It never saw it coming.

Both youma and sand ball exploded in a flurry of grainy bits. The youma dust disappeared. The sand didn't. A cocky smirk crossed Taranis's lips. In his fuku, Taranis wielded his ego much more openly. His confidence soared. He was nearly a different person. It was empowering, the mask he wore.

With the youma dusted, Sailor Taranis spun to look at the civilian. "How do you know there is a youma east?" He frowned.

Azzo watched clearly impressed by the sand actually... well dusting the Youma. His brows seemed like they could disappear into his hair line. "Impressive."

"Right, Sorry." He said with a bit of a, not really tone. It was truthful that they were safer, easier to find Youma in and know which way not to head. Confined areas like that made Youma easier to track for him.

He sighed when the question sounded, "I've been asking myself the same thing since that Organ ring or Barren pines... or whatever it was." He looked around, they were safe as long as no Youma's changed course. "I can feel them..." He said softly, "Track them if I wanted."

He paused, "The closest one is east, next street or so over. I couldn't give you a precise location unless I was closer." He shrugged, "The feeling's stronger the closer they are. Normally I avoid them, I got caught up in a moment and didn't notice that one was actually closer than I'd thought."

It was still a hit and miss for him, most of the time he did alright. "I guess it could've been watching me for a while though, it stayed the same distance for a good bit."

Sailor Taranis stared at Azzo. Hard. Like he was looking at one of those tessellation images that would suddenly align itself as a recognizable shape if you stared at it long enough. Taranis was never good at seeing the hidden shape then, and he was no better at understanding Azzo now.

Barren Pines? Organ ring? What. Taranis had no idea what any of that had to do with this kid's claims that he could sense youma. Maybe he was insane?

Taranis took a tentative step backwards. "Yes, well, that sounds like a really special skill," he said, eyes roving over the park. "I'm sure these youma will go away once you calm down, okay?" Hallucinations, delusions of grandeur, whatever it was, Taranis was not buying. Plenty of crazies had come out of the woodwork when the sightings of senshi and Negaverse agents first broke.

Middle-aged women in old Halloween costumes showed up at the police station claiming to be sailor senshi in need of asylum. Common criminals shot people with guns and then sprinkled glitter over the bodies to claim that a "glittery scout" did it. As far as Taranis was concerned, Azzo was just another crazy attention-seeking civilian.

That meant approach with caution.

"Can you get home from here? You should take the subway. I promise there are no youma... tracking you." Yes, yes... best to ease his paranoia. No need to spook Azzo into doing something reckless. The kid probably just wanted to feel special so he was out here looking for trouble. In a world where so many felt powerless, it was pretty common.

Azzo knew that tone, he sighed and shouldered hi bag, "Yeah I know, I think I'm crazy too." He muttered. It was in a tone that clearly said, yes I didn't believe it either.

He sighed, "And they won't go away. I've tried that. Sureee lets get me a straight jacket and medication. I've just waited for a doctor to say it."

He wasn't attention seeking, not really. He was more of a I like things in my own control, and this one isn't one of those things that I can control. It made him a little grumpy, speically when people considered he might be insane.

"I'll walk thanks. Like I always do." He added, "I'll avoid any more of your monsters." This was why Azzo didn't tell many people that he could feel them. Mainly because everyone considered he was crazy. "I mean after all I hardly doubt you'd be dumb enough to insist I walk over to the subway without an escort since I think there's a youma over there."

He looked back in the direction of the subway before shaking his head. Reverse psychology on worked in a few situations, Azzo doubted this was one of those situations it worked in. As much as Taranis had his ego, Azzo had his pride, however, it was slowly being beaten and bruised every time no one believed him.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 22, 2010 10:19 am

Sailor Taranis watched Azzo carefully. Weirder things existed in Destiny City than a boy who could sense youma, but that didn't make him any keener to believe the story. At least the boy was a little self-deprecating. That gave Taranis hope.

Without being asked, Taranis started to walk in the direction of the subway. "I always escort civilians. But I don't carry them. Follow me." Magellan had enforced his rule upon him, but Taranis largely thought it was a good one. Why save a life only to put it at risk of getting attacked again on the way home.

He stopped walking and looked over his shoulder. "There is a stop up at the corner. I'll see you to the subway car. You coming or what?" Sailor Taranis waited for Azzo to follow, trailing ahead of him the entire way. Even if Azzo was telling the truth, which Taranis did not believe he was, it wasn't like the senshi of sand to make friends anyway.

So they walked in silence.
