In a little corner in the kitchens where the warmth from the roaring fires can still be felt, someone has laid a little clutch of eggs! With a nest made of bits and bobs, pieces of fabric too small to be of any use, and a few strange shiny objects (hey, so that's where it went!) it's no wonder that these bright eggs have gone unnoticed... until now? (First come, first serve basis, please play nicely. If I see OOC fighting leaking into IC fighting then I will have the Headwoman arrive and confiscate the eggs. Any questions, please toss 'em up in the main thread! <3)

What was he doing in the kitchens? Looking for sweets of course! He could smell them baking and wanted to be nearby when they came out, just in case someone needed to taste test them.
Shashee hums and looks towards a small hearth. She leaves her person's shoulder and flies over to the nest to look closer at it. The one with stripes attracted her attention.
Julian comes over to see what Shashee had found. "Oh my, those look like eggs. What are they doing here? Who's looking after them?" He focuses his attention on the little green and blinks at the image in her mind. "You What?! Are you sure?" Soft sigh, "alright. But if I get into trouble over this, its your fault little girl. Which one?"
She trills happily and pulls the black striped one slightly away from the others. Her's would let her keep one. Why? Dunno, the pattern appealed to her.
"Looks like I'll need something to carry it in." Julian shakes his head, wondering why he's doing this, then hunts around for a small basket.

Keir was running an errand in the kitchens - something that wasn't entirely unheard of lately when she passed by a familiar face - yes indeed it was the same person she's caught filching sweets the other day. Well what was he up to now since there certainly wasn't any sweet's over there. Heading over she noted the eggs. "Oh my...have they been abandoned?" She asked him from behind. Truthfully she didn't know much about Firelizards and the like though part of her had always wanted one.
Reaching out a finger she ran it lightly across the shell of the large blue and goldish one, I mean if they were abandoned someone had to take care of them right? She could take care of one - and the blue orange and gold one drew her attention. Yes if they were abandoned she'd take on the responsibility of that one.

Julian jumps and turns to face Keir. He clutches a small basket nervously in his hands. "Um, yes I think so. Or at least no one has shooed Shashee away." A quick hand gestures towards the little green curled partically around the pink tiger egg. "They're not yours are they?"

J'tren was only intending to steal a quick bite in the kitchen. Korianth was sleeping, some of the weyrlings were studying from lessons, but he figured, well, he got it. Would get it. It'd work out.
Anyway, he needed some time, a moment away from the pressed closeness from the barracks with the smell of the dragons and the other people.
Here, in the kitchen, it only smelled like food. Of course, there were people. In fact, there was an odd little cluster of people over by the fire. Planning to avoid them but spotting some fingerolls in their general direction, he caught sight of the eggs that they were looking over.
Eavesdropping, and not feeling particularly guilty about it, he shrugged and headed over.
"I suppose, if they need a home, I can look after one." The blue one was pretty anyway, and maybe Korianth would like a lizard to play with.

Julian nods as another guy comes over. "I saw a couple more baskets over there if you need one." He points back to where he'd gotten his. "No one's claimed that blue one yet." Carefully he unwraps Shashee from around the striped one and nestles it in his basket.
Shashee sits up as Her's takes the egg from her. She watches very closely. Really! What did he think he knew about eggs anyhow? She was determined to take good care of it, because he wouldn't do as good as she could.

"Sorry" Keir apologized as Julian jumped "didn't mean to startle" she told him, she opened her mouth to say that no angry mother chasing Shashee away was certainly a good sign that they were indeed abandoned, and certainly not hers when they were joined by a third person - flicking her gaze at the man she shuffled sideways to give him some room and gave him a brief smile - she didn't know him but there was no point in being rude. She was trying to be a bit more outgoing here then she had been at home.
"Well at least their all getting homes" She remarked brightly as she followed Julian's suggestion and fetched a basket for the multi colored blue egg she'd chosen. heres hoping she could actually manage to raise it!

With his egg tucked safely into its basket with warm sands and Shashee perched neatly on his shoulder he looks at the other two. "I'm rather curious whats in each of our eggs. What do you say to coming back here after our eggs hatch? We could show them off and let them play together."

Cradling the egg he'd picked up in his cupped hands, J'tren managed only a weak sort of smile. Meet back and show off their hatched firelizards? How charming. And something candidate lessons and Korianth would almost certainly see that he didn't have a chance to do.
There was so little of him left in his life now. Other things loomed large and he shrank in deference. As it should be. Kori came first, had to come first. Still, it was strange, being his own lowest priority. Not, certainly, what he was accustom to.
"Well, I will certainly endeavor to return as requested. I can make no assurances of my success, I'm afraid."
He gave a little bow them, stepping backward. Kori was stirring in his mind. It was time to return to work.

"That sounds like a great idea to me" Keir responded, it would be good for them to play together right? Of course it would all young animals enjoyed romping about with their siblings she couldn't think that flitt's would be any different. Her enthusiasm was dulled somewhat by the other however - he didn't seem to be all that happy about the prospect if the barely managed smile indicated anything.
Perhaps he had other things on his mind she told herself but he seemed rather sad to her and she gave him an encouraging smile as he backed away "we'll hope you can make it" she told him "But will understand if you can't" she added - no point in making him feel like he had to return or anything if he was already badgered about something else. Placing the egg she'd chosen within her basket she turned back to Julian "I best get back to work too - was supposed to be fetching some clean cloths for the cooks. I'll see you around?" She stated in a hopeful sort of way before looping her arm through the basket handle and collecting the cloths she'd been sent after, tucking an extra few around the egg to keep it warm while she made her delivery and with a quick wave she headed back towards the cooking area's.
