For all of you (by which I mean 'just me') who used to or still collect Disney pins, they released a steampunk themed set earlier this month because Disney is pretty hip like that. It's called The Mechanical Kingdom set, and it features Mickey, Minnie, Pete, Daisy, Donald, Goofy, and Ludwig Von Drake. Plus, it features a cute little book-box so you can carry them around in a nice collection, and the front pages have details about this 'Mechanical Kingdom' and how they arbitrarily put Disney characters in it. Here's the original blog post about it.

I'm suddenly having a very fun time imagining (a non-anthropomorphic) Simba in a pair of aviator goggles and a specially-designed cargo vest, leaning on the railing on the edge of a giant mechanical spider.
Heck, for kicks one could retcon his fight with Scar so he lost a leg, and then give him automail! o wo

Oh this is fabulous! I've been an avid Disney lover since I was oh.. 2 or 3 years old. And for them to combine two of my loves, oh I want! Those pins are brilliant!

Wow, that's pretty observant of them. A good move on their part, but (even though I LOVE Disney), the characters just don't feel right in SP garb...

It does look nice but do remember Disney BUYS EVERYTHING, they even own the rights to the happy birthday song, it's why you never see it in any movies other than disney ones. And don't start me on kingdom hearts.
Honestly I think it's nice the fact that steampunnk is leaking into everyday, and this set is loverly.

Whilst I think they've done a pretty good job of Steampunk, I have no particular love for Mickey Mouse & co., so I'm not sure what to think of them.

Part of why my first thoughts strayed to Adult!Simba. Opposable-thumbs-be-damned, there is NO REASON the animals of Disneyland couldn't build their own giant mechaspider! D8<

*sigh* I am torn between the good news and the fact that corporations are now trying to cash in on Steampunk... which is not good...
