It was something he didn't want to do in the least, the idea of letting his son venture out anywhere on his own was an unthinkable thought but... given that he still had much to do today if he wanted to be able to sleep some time this week it meant having to do such things, "Now you remember the directions I gave you?" He was asking of his yellow eyed son.

The young Bai Mei was pulling on the pack he was to deliver and nodded his head, "I remember." He said, adjusting the straps on his shoulders. What was inside wasn't to terribly heavy so it didn't throw off his balance any which had been another worry that Jing Lin had, he didn't want to risk the boy falling over and hurting himself... or breaking the delicate jade creations that were being sent out. It had taken him some time to fill that large order so he didn't want it to be at risk.

"And you recall what I said about when you get there?" He asked of his son, reaching out gently catch hold of the boy's shoulders to make sure he was paying attention.

"Yes, I recall. I am to get the payment for the pieces you made but I cannot go inside." He wasn't sure why but Jing Lin was very insistent that he didn't go inside of the place that he was making the delivery to. It was a curious thing but he would do as he was told, he would get the money, give over the jade pieces, and he would come how straight away.

"Alright, if you think you ready then." He gave the boy's hair a little ruffle, "Be back as soon as possible." He didn't want his son out for to terribly long with as much money as he was going to fetch, not wanting him to get hurt because of it. Jing Lin watched as Bai Mei headed out before giving a little sigh, adjusted his glasses, and went back to working on the large piece in his lap that was eating up most of his time of late.

A soft voice rang out through the court yard of the 'shop'; a sweet voice that seemed to be far more cheerful than one should be in his situation. Inside the shop, atleast a dozen ladies could be heard giggling as they entertained their first guests of the day Nonetheless, he sang as he swept the stone walkway that led inside.

Apparently, the Madame was expecting a delivery today, and it was Qiu Shui's duty to collect the items and to pay the person who was delivering them. If the person was like any of the other artisans that dropped of their works, they'd take half of their payment in the form of a few hours of the shop's services.

Adjusting the front of his 'uniform', Qiu Shui couldn't help but think he was lucky. Most of the other workers here were forced to participate in the activities that went on within the shop. Chio, the lady who he called 'mother' prevented him from seeing what truly went on in the shop, but the Madame was fully ready to give him over to whoever was the highest bidder..

At any rate, he was still waiting for the man with the jade items to arrive.

Bai Mei spotted the shop that he was supposed to go to and a smile appeared on his slips. He was to come here, drop off the package, get the payment, and be on his way but his curiosity of things that were new had him taking in the sight of the building as he approached.

The young boy's yellow eyes got a little wider when he spotted the one that was standing there seeming to be waiting for him. He paused for a moment before he trotted forward. Oh but this person was so pretty, "H-Hello!" He greeted Qiu Shui when he got close enough that he wouldn't have to shout, "My name is Bai Mei, my father Jing Lin sent me with a delivery." He lifted a hand to pat one of the straps on the bag that he was carrying on his back. He was doing quite well, hadn't tripped up at all which was, for him, quite the accomplishment!

His smile got that much brighter when he got closer, looking the other... boy over. He was pretty sure that it was a boy, maybe... Song Tzue had looked like a boy at first glance but he'd been wrong there so he wasn't about to assume again.

When Qiu Shui turned around, he was met with quite a surprise! It wasn't a man like it normally was who delivered the art, no, it was a boy!! This definitely didn't make any sense to him, no not at all.

"So.. You're the one who's delivering the Madame's art..? Oh.. Um.. Uh..." He was definitely baffled at this. The Madame had assumed that the man would enter the shop, so she had only given him half of what was due... But this was a boy... And He couldn't enter the shop...

"I... I'm so sorry!!" He cried out trying to hide behind his broom. "I don't have the money we owe you! I only have half.. A-and I'm not allowed into the shop until the Madame lets me back in... I'm so sorry for having you come out this way..." Crud.. Crud crudity crud.. What was he going to do..?

A worried look appeared on Bai Mei's face and he shifted in place, "Ahh... only half?" He asked, looking more then a little confused by that. He was told that he had to retrieve all of the money for his father, "I... can't leave the pieces then, I was supposed to get all the money for my Father and bring it back to him." He shifted in place, looking uncertain. It appeared as though the both of them were in trouble here. He didn't want to go back to his father empty handed, felt as though he would be seen as failing and given this was the first task that he asked him to do all by himself.

"What should I do?" He murmured, mostly to himself as he looked over his shoulder at the pack he was carrying. His Father had trusted him to deliver the pieces and he found himself stuck at the gate. He felt a bit bad for the other boy involved as well, he looked almost as upset as Bai Mei was feeling at the present.

"What to do.. What to do..?" Qiu Shui paced back and forth infront of the other, tugging absently at his hair.. He couldn't go in, he had no way of calling anyone out... There was no way to do this! Crap. The Madame is going to be soo mad at him! But.. It wasn't his fault, right? No, no one knew that it was going to be a boy like himself who was going to deliver the pieces, right? So no one was going to get into trouble! But then again.. The Madame was NOT a fair lady.. She'd definitely find a way to punish him one way or another..

Then An idea hit him. What if...

"What if.. You came around back with me? There is an entrance to the kitchen there, and we can call someone out to help us.. It's worth a shot, but.. we have to get across the pond first.."

The way the "shop" was set up was that the pound around it was set up as a moat-type body of water. On one side of the shop was a fenced in area, where guests would go outside between rounds of their experience.. But the pond was safe, with rocks that made perfect stepping stones, if you knew what you were doing.

"We can do that.. But.. What of your pieces..? Would they be able to make the trip..?"

"Around back?" He asked, tilting his head to the side and looked a little thoughtful. A kitchen entrance into the place... he was told not to go inside but he found himself wondering if it were more important to get the money owed for all of his Father's work then it was to stay out of the place he was delivering to, "I think it will be alright, so long as I don't go in to far, my Father told me not to."

He gave a nod of his head, he had to finish up his task or else it would have meant failing his Father which was something that he refused to do. He wanted to make the man proud of him and he would do what needed to be done to do just that, "I will be careful and make sure that they make it there. I can't leave them behind or they will get stolen." The idea of the jade pieces getting stolen was scarier then anything else that could happen really at the moment, he doubted he would be able to bring himself to go home.

"We should get going to the Kitchen then." He murmured, looking over his shoulder to the bag that hung there.

With a curt nod, Qiu Shui put the broom down against the wall. "Okay then, follow Me."

Although his feet were hidden by his robes, he easily made it to the soft, grassy area where the pond was, and turned to wait on the other.

"We're going to have to take the rocky path. You may want to take you shoes off for this, since the rocks are slick with moss." Even as he said that, he simply lifted the bottom of his robes, stepping on each on easily. When he reached the middle of the pond, he turned around once more and smiled at his guest.

"Take your time, and be careful, okay?"

This was rather exciting! Although it was really only buisness, he felt like he had made a friend.. That would be nice.. To have someone to talk to other than the shopworkers.. But He wasn't one to interfere with the Madame's will, and her will was to train him so that he could be sold off for the most amount of money.

Bai Mei nodded, following along after the other boy quickly so that he wouldn't be left behind. It took everything in him to keep from fall over, he wasn't very graceful but it wasn't something he would allow since he wanted to protect what he was carrying on his back. When he was warned that he needed to take off his shoes Bai Mei did so. He paused, took them off, and held them in his hands as he continued. Watched the manner in which Qiu Shui moved across the rocks and gulped before he followed along after him. Each step was ever so careful, well thought out, and a few ended up with him windmilling his arms to keep from falling over. It would be awful to fall over which was what kept him going, "Almost... almost..." He murmured to himself, picking each of his steps carefully and when he got to the other side he felt as though he could have cried from joy.

"I did it! Did you see? And I didn't fall even once!" He sounded so happy and his smile was bright, as though he were almost glowing from the joy of it. He brushed off, checked on the pack he wore, then Qiu Shui was given his full attention once more, a smile remaining on his lips, "Alright, where to next?" He asked of the other boy.

"I saw! I Saw! I'm So glad you didn't slip! And The pieces are in tact as well!" Qiu Shui was truly overjoyed at Bai Mei's success in crossing the rocks. He shivered in fear at the thought of what the Madame might do to him if he were to break anything that she had paid for.. She was not a merciful person.

Now that they were both safely on the other side of the pond, Qiu Shui waved a hand at a bench. This bench was normally used for their "moon viewing" events, but as seeing that the moon was only at a Waxing crescent, there were no events this evening.

"You wait right here, I'll see if the Cook can get the Madame for me." A shy smile adorned his delicate, rounded features, and he bowed to the artisan's son, slipping inside of the shop.

After a few minutes, He returned, looking a bit saddened. "The Madame won't be able to come out for a bit of a while.. She doesn't trust anyone except my mother, and she's with a customer.."

"I.. I'm not sure if you should go home or stay her for a while.. But... Maybe it would be better if you went home for the night... I'm sure your parents are worried about you..."

Bai Mei waited quietly in the kitchen, looking around a bit, taking in the scents and sounds of the room. The food here smelled really good, didn't it? A lot fancier then what was served at his house since his Father wasn't really one who did a lot of cooking. He found himself wondering if the cooks here took on aprentices, maybe he should take up cooking so that he could be of more use to his Father he found himself thinking.

He was debating that for a while when Qiu Shui reappeared to say that the Madame was busy with a customer and he shifted in place, "So she is busy for a while." He mused to himself, wondering what he should do now. He supposed that he could wait until she was done with her customer but he had no idea how long that might take. He shifted in place again before sighing, "I... suppose that I could come back tomorrow and try again." His Father wouldn't be to happy to have him come home empty handed but at least he wouldn't have lost the pieces as well as the money.

"Ahh... I really wanted to be able to do this right." He murmured to himself in a saddened manner before he turned to look at Qiu Shui, "Do you think she would be able to meet with me tomorrow?" He was determined if nothing else.

Qiu Shui felt terrible about what had happened... A little thought popped into his head, and he bowed at Bai Mei. "I'll be right back.."
He spoke rather softly, before disappearing into the kitchen once more. When he returned this time, he held a box in his hand, wrapped in a satin cloth.

"Please, give this to your father as my apologizes.. I didn't think something like this would happen. Maybe tomorrow, you can come over earlier in the day, so that the shop isn't busy.." With a smile, he took Bai Mei's hand, leading him over to the front of the shop once more.

"I'll see you tomorrow.. And I'll make sure I'll have the money." He said softly, taking the hand he held and placing the box in it. He then bowed, and made his way back back over the rocks, disappearing behind the shop.

Bai Mei watched as Qiu Shui disappeared once more and he waited for him to returned. He looked over the box that was handed over to him and he nodded, "I will make sure that my Father gets it." He said, giving a smile.

He watched as Qiu Shui headed back into the shop and he headed back to the house, hoping that his father would understand and let him come back to try this again tomorrow. Earlier in the day before things got busy he'd been told by the boy he talked with. He could do that, he would just need to wake up early so he could head out here early.

*****

It had taken a lot on Bai Mei's part to be able to talk his Father into letting him go back to the shop to drop off the jade pieces with the Madame. Jing Lin had been a little surprised when his son returned empty handed though when the situation was explained to him he supposed that it made sense, that only half the money was present because the Madame was certain that he would take the other half in trade.

The white haired boy trotted quickly along, out of the house, and back to the shop. He made his way down the streets carefully so as not to fall down or risk the jade pieces and was soon approaching the building all over again and he hoped that he would be able to meet with the Madame this time around. He hated to be a bother to a busy woman so he would make his visit as quick as possible he thought to himself. Being the son of a business man he he knew that Jing Lin didn't like to be bothered when he was in the middle of something.

*forgot to mention that there was food in that there box. XD*

That night.. Qiu was scolded for not receiving the pieces, but was forgiven, due to the fact that his mother had come to his rescue.

When the morning came, the Madame sat outside, sipping a glass of tea as Qiu Shui cleaned up the street from the night before. In her lap was that dreaded whip, though she had yet to use it on him, Qiu Shui was still terrified of it.

The Madame herself was in a rather Mello mood, as she had been drinking most of the night. She never got drunk, but did often drink enough that her anger was curved rather heavily. She watched as Bai Mei bounded down the stony path.

"Ah.. Such a young boy. No wonder I couldn't get my pieces last night.. "

Bai Mei smiled as he got close to the woman who was sitting there, he perked up a bit and smiled, "Hello." He greeted her, bowing in a polite manner, "My name is Xiang Bai Mei." He introduced himself, "My father sent me with your delivery."

He slipped the pack off of his back carefully so that he could hold it out, "Would you like to see them?" He asked, knowing that she might want to look them over before he got the money that he was to bring back to his Father. That he was getting to meet with this woman excited him a bit, he had been so worried that he would end up missing her again. To get to talk with someone that appeared to be very important had the boy quite excited really.

"I want to apologize for my visit yesterday since it was untimely. I hope that I didn't bother you to much." He said, feeling as though it needed to be said since he'd tried to meet with her last night when she was already with someone.
