The sun had just begun to lower itself from the sky when the very camouflaged female finally reached the beach, she'd been hiking towards all day.

With a light sigh of relief, she placed her front paws in the warmth of the sand and purred in delight, she loved the beach, and not just because of that amazing view of the sky, for many reason actually!

The sand was a natural exfoliant for her worn out paws, and the ocean, oh how she loved the ocean, she could stare into it all day and always see the most beautiful Shakaiyo in existence - herself of course! And on top of that, was the broad assortment of fish! So many man more than the river back home can produce, and the reasons could go on and on.

As she stood there, stretching her sunset paws into the sand, the female felt completely at ease, the air was cooling, the mist off the ocean was refreshing, and the silence was a welcome relief compared to the constant whining she heard from those two annoying pups she was cursed to live with. But as comfortable as the female was, her bliss was soon interrupted by the grumble from her lower belly.

"Dinner time!"

She practically all but yelped as she bounded across the warm sand, and straight for the crystal clear water ahead.

Muffled waves was all Analiese heard as she pawed her way through the cool water, treading and holding her breath. She loved paddling to the bottom to find random treasures and shells, and she always had the beach to herself and enjoyed her solitude. She also loved watching the fish flit by in groups, and gliding like a weightless bird through the water. She began to tread her way to the surface as she thought about her shell collection back home in her small burrow. She had gathered quite a few today, a couple with mother-of-pearl which happened to be her favorite. She carried the small satchel in her mouth, exceedingly careful not to spill out it's contents. She was almost to the surface, and she could see the sparkling sunlit rays cascading through the surface of the water...

JUST as the female's paws reached the foam of the wave's, she noticed something odd and dark in color poking it's head from beneath the surface. Tilting her head quickly to the left, and then slightly to the right, Aimi grumbled to herself as her stomach lurched again.

For a moment, the female considered diving into the cool water after the unknown object, in hopes that it might be a really ginormous fish, but she quickly scratched that idea from her list of items it could be, granted that whatever it was it had ears, and what could have been a tail...

Curiosity soon got the better of her and she began to tread out into the water lightly, only up to her knees, of course! Attempting to get a better view.

Ana emerged from the water quite swiftly, needing air...but getting a whole lot more than that.
She popped up face to face with a brightly colored female of her own species! Immediately she growled, thinking this girl was after her treasures. She shook off the water on her dark fur in hopes of splashing the other female, still tightly grasping the full satchel in her mouth.
She succeeded in soaking the sunset colored Shakaiyo, and then proceeded to do it again, smirking slightly and becoming very pleased with herself. She stood there, staring to see what the other female would do in response.
Ana had always been keen on stirring up trouble just for her own amusement, never really considering what others thought of her.

Ah!

So it had actually been another Shakaiyo! The mere thought gave Aimi more than enough energy to fight her off, whatever the means! This was her beach - who the hell was this female, and what the heck was that in her mouth?

Aimi merely looked on in confusion as the darker toned female shook herself of water, and in the process soaked Aimi, she wasn't exactly sure whether the female had done it on accident, or whether it was a more purposeful action, but it didn't matter, she'd take care of this - her way.

With a beautiful gleam sparkling off of her now wet and amazingly textured coat, the female allowed her lips to curl into a very innocent smile.

"Thank you! That was actually quite refreshing after having walked all day!" Aimi let out a small laugh, attempting to make the female a little less guarded.

"Although it is a shame, you looked so much better drenched in sea water, and this sunset does absolutely nothing for your color - "

She stopped a moment and raised her snout lightly to the air. "Hmmm you might want to go for another dip, your wet dog smell is beginning to wear off."

Ana was a bit startled at her sharp tongue and quick wit, and was having a difficult time coming up with anything to retort back. She thought for a second, and then glanced off to the side with a smile. She turned and walked a ways up the beach, waiting for that rather large wave to make it's way to the shore...right where the sassy sunset female was standing. Ana sat down calmly and set her satchel next to her, waiting to watch the comedy that was about to ensue.

"You must love swimming!" Ana shouted. "Good thing too!"

User ImageAs the wave got closer, and the other female's comment actually began to make sense, Aimi realized a bit too late what was in for her, and with a sigh, bit her lip and ran head fast into the wave, doing a belly flop into the waist deep water in the process.

To antagonize this irritating female further, Aimi began rolling in the water, her tail flopping against the smaller waves as she did so.

She watched thoroughly out of the corner of her eye, prepared to judge the female's reaction, and with a small giggle of enjoyment, paddled back onto the shallow banks of the ocean, and shook herself dry.

"Not necessarily, but I can say I do enjoy myself a good bath!" She grinned a wicked grin as she looked down at the darkened female.

"It's a shame we really can't say the same for you - or is that really your natural fur color?"

Ana sneered at the seemingly arrogant female before her.
"You look ridiculous!" She shouted, though she wanted nothing more than to jump in. It looked like so much fun, but her pride wouldn't be swallowed so easily.

Just then she saw a fish jump out and then back down into the water, and then her stomach began to growl. She had been so caught up in arguing and competing that she had forgotten just how hungry she was truly was. She eyed where the fish had jumped, and darted in a beeline to that very spot. She was hoping that the other female hadn't seen it, but didn't have time to look.

She plunged into the clear, cool water that glistened in the setting sun's rays, and then without fail emerged with a fish in her mouth. Ana trotted proudly back to where she had been perched before, and indulged in the delicious red snapper that she had so easily caught. After all, she had been fishing for quite a long time and was accustomed to the best ways to do it.

Upon finishing her meal she looked down to pick up her satchel full of shells-- but it was gone! She immediately looked at her ''opponent'' and charged straight at her, stopping directly in front of her face.

"Where are my treasures?" she demanded, glaring into the girl's eyes...

The devilish grin spread wider on the female's face at the obvious jealousy in the other female's eyes.

"Jealous much?"

The words were more than a bit smug as Aimi continued to play off the other female's reactions, but she was quickly cut short as the other charged right past her into the water, and popped back out with a fish. This of course only brought back the rumbling in Aimi's tummy, forcing her to grimace in agony at the catch SHE could have made.

With a fierce growl, the female turned her back and began eyeing the crystal clear water fiercely awaiting the instinctive urge to jolt at the swimming passers by.

It wasn't long after she began this attention grasping task, that the other female charged into her and began demanding some sort or treasure.

"Treasure- what the hell are you -

Wait -

Are you talking about those things you had in your mouth?"

Aimi laughed to herself as she eyed the fish swimming circles around her still paws.

"Maybe they got pulled away with the tide."

She shrugged her shoulders, and grinned her devilish grin.

Ana sneered at the girl and then realized she was probably right- more than likely, her shells had been washed away into the ocean. She stared longingly at the water before silently turning her back, tears welling up in her eyes.
There was no way she was about to let the likes of the sunset Shakaiyo see her cry, so she held it in with all of her might.
She walked through the shallows of the waves rolling in, watching them move back and forth across the flat sand. She stared into her reflection fading as the sun took it's last peek over the horizon before disappearing. It had grown chilly with the dark of the night, and the water had a dark and mysterious look to it. It was so much different than during the day, almost as if it were a different world.
Without thinking she said out loud, "It's funny how much the night changes everything."
Suddenly realizing she had spoken her thoughts aloud, she began to step into the water. Though she knew it wasn't exactly safe, she was covered in sand and needed to clean off.
Though quite cold, the water felt refreshing on her sandy skin.
She dipped her nose into the water as well, it being sunburned from frolicking in the sunlight all day long.

Along with the darkness came the chill of the night. Something Aimi herself was never really all that fond of - For one, her fur was no longer as beautiful as the sky above, and for two, creepy things came out at night, things she was more than willing to defend against, but also too creeped out to prevent the shudders down her spine.

As predicted, the chill on the night air quickly, began wisping against her dampened fur, causing shudders to roll along her back and down the edged of her furry tail.

Biting her lip lightly, while trying to avoid showing weakness to this new female, Aimi quickly dashed over to the still warm sand and began rolling herself in it, coating her fur in sand, but at the same time, allowing the sand to soak up the dampness that clung to her fur.

With a smile, she stood again, and began shaking her fur free of most of the sand, just in time to hear the other female's words.

"What are you talking about? Nothing changes! We're still here in the same place we were - the only difference is you don't have those weird shell things you were clinging to earlier!"

Aimi wrapped a smug smile across her face as she wound her tail quickly around her body, forming a warmer blanket than her fur provided.

Ana rolled her eyes and wandered further out into the water.
"I don't expect you to understand," she scoffed. With that she dove into the water...she loved diving all the way to the bottom and touching the sand- then pushing back up to the surface.
She reached the bottom as usual and felt the presence of a seashell, and scooped it up. She held it in her mouth as she prepared to push off of the ocean floor with her feet.
She propelled herself up but was suddenly jerked back by something that was wrapped around her ankle. She jerked it several times in an attempt to free herself but it was no use, dropping the seashell in her struggle.
She tugged and pulled with all of her might, in a panic.

The female scoffed at the other's comments and brushed her tail I'd consider that a blessing since I didn't really care to begin with!"

Shrugging off the odd comment, the female stuck one of her beautiful violet paws out in front of her and began to lightly lick it free of the sand she'd rolled in earlier, it wasn't really until the female dived down, that Aimi felt comfortable cleaning herself.

She smirked to herself, and quickly shooed away the thought of whether the female would actually come back up.

That passing thought soon bubbled into reality, as the seconds flew by and the black female was nowhere to be seen, not even a wave, or a batch of bubbles.

Panic shot through Aimi's head for a few seconds before she quickly regained composure and pushed off any thoughts of helping that smart a** female.

"You can come up now - your test was a success i'm a heartless female, and i'm not coming in after you -

You know, maybe this is why it's advised that you don't swim after dark. You know cause it's dark, and you can't SEE!'

She giggled at her own joke, and went back to cleaning her paws, before the bubbles began to reach the surface, those obvious signs of distress from the ocean floor - weighing her options, Aimi sighed to herself and charged into the water, her paws stretched in front of her, so she could feel for any signs of movement. It was dark after all, and this female wasn't exactly the most beautiful Shakaiyo she'd ever seen but she was also the darkest.

Just as she was about to give up fighting, her foot broke loose and she shot up to the surface. She spat up the water she had inhaled and began gasping for air.
She was so tired and out of breath that she could only look at the shore as she treaded the water slowly. She had no strength to swim, and her leg was cramped up from the struggle.
Ana sighed and began to float on her back, as it was easier that trying to stay afloat with her paws.
The stars were gorgeous, shining brightly in the clear sky. She listened to the sound of the waves as she regained her strength somewhat. After a good amount of time she turned about to swim back, and Aimi was right there behind her.
In shock she just sat and stared at the soaking wet female.

Turning to see the female back and apparently perfectly fine, Aimi let out an all too loud growl, that actually vibrated the water under her chest and paws.

With some quick thinking, and even quicker reaction time, the female turned herself half circle and paddled away from the scene, saving herself from injuring the female any farther than her fake injury may already have.

"You might be better off floating on your back - if you're lucky the tide will drift you off into the sea. Then I can have my quiet beach back!"

She yelled over the roar of the sea as she landed on dry ground once again, shaking the water from her once dry fur.
