Large paws spread evenly over the ground with each step the large canine took. He was not just a Coyote, he was a beast of a Coyote. He had been born and raised among humans in one of their accursed settlements and as an adolescent he had been large and powerful, lucky for him, powerful enough to escape. Now, as a full fledged adult he roamed on his own, content with his freedom and the occasional company of the Burrowing Owl Thierry that had claimed him as his travelling Companion. He looked around and sniffed the air curiously.
He turned his head and deep chocolate eyes peered into the shimmering shadows of the forest around him He saw nothing that indicated a thread so he slowly laid down with a wide yawn and looked up at the canopy of the trees. "The weather is great today..." he said with a pleasant smile.

Choco Coyo was just around the corner from where Jacob relocated, staring down into the stream and watching her reflection wiggle in the dappled water. She started when she heard another's voice and accidentally splashed him with the water from her paws, having been standing with both front paws in the stream to avoid the heat.

He jumped in surprise and turned his head too look at her. "Oh, Hey... I'm sorry, I didn't startle you, did I?" he looked at her wet paws and smiled. "Smart Idea. Probably the coolest place in the forest right now..." his expression was kind and warm. He sat up and wrapped his tail around his paws. "I'm Jacob. You can call me Jake though." he said softly, tail wagging a bit.
"I didn't mean to intrude on you or anything, I just decided to stop and rest for awhile." he explained, laying back down and stretching himself out to his full length, which as considerable. He looked at the female and wagged his tail. "I'm new to the area, what is there to do around this place?" he asked her curiously, dipping one of his front paws in the cool water.

Choco smiled slyly at Jacob and splashed more water from her paws onto his muzzle as he laid down, almost dwarfing her in size. She wasn't a very big coyote. She looked shyly at him. "Yeah you did. There isn't usually anyone around here. The cave is always cooler, but it always smells funny and I like the sun on my fur." She watched him dip his paws and, giggling, shattered the rippling reflection he had cast into a bunch more ripples, accidentally pulling all four of her own feet into the stream as she did so. She turned her muzzle away, covering with a wet paw, she was a girl and wasn't Supposed to fall in the stream....

Jake gazed at her with amusement shining in his dark eyes. He sat up a bit and then slid into the water after her, tail wagging, sending little sprays of water to either side with each flick. He chuckled and rolled about in the water for a moment, holding his breath as he dipped his head under to completely wet himself. When he resurfaced he grinned at her. "That wasn't falling, that was slipping with style." He found her bashful expression and her behavior was actually a bit endearing. He couldn't help but smile at her.

Choco giggled as she watched Jacob completely soak himself. "Me or you?" She asked, straightening her muzzle when it's obvious he wasn't going to laugh. "You know, you kinda look like an otter when you do that. It's cool. Buttt...I can do it better!" She said, and promptly pounced like she was gonna catch something just in front of her, disappearing into the water front paws first and immersing all the way, from her toes to her tail before coming back up and stepping out of her personal little deep spot. She flicked water at him from the tip of her tail with a grin, that was her favorite way to get completely soaked.

A laugh escaped him, "Both of us, I guess?" He smirked at her otter statement, "I don't know, taking my size into account, maybe I'm a bit more like a Sea Lion." he grinned and tried to look scary, "Rowwr" he teased, doing another little spin. When she flicked water at him from her tail he grinned and stood up slowly, then, with a few heavy shakes his fur was shook out and the water from his coat rained back down on her, "Heh... Ta-daaah?" he said in a sing song manner, stepping back up out of the water. He looked at her smiling and said, "So there's caves around here, you said?" he asked curiously.

"hey!" Choco said, skittering back a step or two both at the 'rain' and his unexpected roar and laughing. "Naw, sea lions are too...lumbery. unless you waddle when you walk?" she said teasingly. She flopped on her back in the water, and let just her muzzle and ears/eyes stick out. "I'm a crocodile!!!" She snapped her teeth together daintly and then stood. "Yeah, but it's just my den cave. Nothing much and full of well...wolves and everyone else."

He reached out with a large paw and scooped her from the water when she stood, smiling as he set her down. "Living in a Den full of other canines? Well that just sounds unpleasant." he said wrinkling his nose at the thought. "I say we go exploring and see if we can find any other dens around here. I'm sure there's plenty to find." he said with a bright smile, "Besides, you're a big girl, you're old enough to leave home, right?" his tail wagged as he teased her playfully. "Oh, and I guess I should tell you, I'm only Half Coyote, and that's why I'm so Big..." he told her, tail wagging slowly.

"yes. And cats, and ringtails and lions too. Glad to say though, everyone has their own anti-cave chamber. oof." She said, getting pulled out of the stream dripping wet. She shook, spraying water everywhere. "I ...I guess so, though the only one with us that lives outside the den is Koto, and he's ancient. What was your daddy a bear or something?"

He listened to her and nodded as she explained who lived with them, but then his face split into an amused grin. "A Bear? Nah, Close though. He was a Wolf/Dog hybrid. Almost as tall as a horse... I was born in Human Captivity." he explained quietly, shaking out the new little sprinkling of rain from his fur. "I've been on my own for about six moons now." he added.

Choco laughed. "So you're a wolf dog coyote?" She asked, pronouncing coyote like a native american. "you seem to be doing alright on your own so far." She smiled and avoided the reshowering of her own water droplets.

He grinned at the way she said Coyote. Being that the humans that raised him had been Native American it was familiar to him, and it also reminded him of a small Native child that had been very fond of him when he'd been a pup... how fragile the little humans were... Strange furless beasts. "Yeah, pretty much. I'm a big ol'mutt." he said, repeating things he'd heard when he was young. He wagged his tail and looked around before turning for a small worn path into the trees. "Come on, little one, let's go explore." he murmured softly.

"Did I say something funny?" Choco asked, tipping her head. "Oh, alright. As long as we stay in the semi shade, it's hot out today." She followed silently, like a little ninja using skills she had picked up from her den mates. She giggled every time his huge paws snapped a branch as they walked, waving her tail in the air.
