It took quite a while for Chivosi to make it back with the pups, she had stopped along the way to hunt and now laid down a good sized rabbit for the little creatures. They were tired she knew and most likely would eat and then curl up to sleep. That was fine with her because she had much to do while they kept themselves occupied.

The least of which was finding Corvus and finding out just what he planned on doing now - somehow she didn't think the green wolf was equipped to be a suitable father figure, but she'd give him a chance if he wanted to try..and if not well, the pack was capable of looking after two pups right? Merrill...she needed Merrill input on this subject and flicking her tail pondered just where her friend might be right now.

Bracken had continued to keep a wary eye on this Chivosi wolf throughout the entire trip - when she had stopped in order to hunt he wasn't surprised that she took the entire kill for herself instead of letting he and his brother eat. Made them keep walking and walking while she carried that delicious meal right in front of their noses - no doubt she was carrying it home where she would devour it in her den and if they were lucky maybe throw them a bone or two...

The shock on his face then when she finally stopped at what he assumed was their new home and handed them the entire feast. The look would probably have been rather epic if she'd been watching - but she seemed preoccupied and Bracken nosed his brother before tearing into the food, whispering "eat..quick before she changes her mind and takes it back"

Lichen had been quite literally dragging his paws to keep up with Chivosi, though her pace was much slower than that of his mothers earlier. When they finally did come to a stop and she dropped the rabbit for him and his brother Lichen was quite shocked - perhaps even more than his brother was. Wearily he crept towards the rabbit but kept stopping to glance at Chivosi expecting her to snatch it away at a moments notice.

When it appeared that she didn't wish to do so he torn into the carcass as voraciously as his brother was. He would probably regret eating so fast later but right now the hole in his stomach needed to be filled. A small insignificant growl escaped him as he glanced up at the large wolf but then returned his attention back to his meal.

With the spring season in full bloom, Merrill became the victim of a terrible plauge: allergies. Up in the mountains flowers bloomed, yes, and yes again there was pollen to be had, but to this degree? Certainly not! Her eyes watered, her nose became stuffed and itchy, and oh how her temper suffered for it. Merrill had always been a brisk wolf, but pity be upon the wolf that caught her at the climax of her allergy attack.

As it was, the beta had cooled down some from the initial indignation ("Really, I can handle a bear if you ask em to, but two cursed speck up my nose and suddenly I turn weepy and sickened like a whelp?!") and was now sighing to herself as she sniffled, producing a sort of squelching noise she couldn't stand. It interrupted her naps for the spirits' sake! Sleeping with a mouth open was just . . . no. As it was, Merrill was just thinking that a little hunting (or perhaps fishing; spirits, she hated water, but her sense of smell had been cut off for now) when she passed by Chivosi's den. As was customary, she turned her head to nod an greet the alpha -

- and spotted two greenish specks with her. Merrill blinked, surprised. When had these two appeared? They hardly looked like they were just weaned from their mother. Being the sole beta up till now had made her quite nosy, and she could not help herself as she stepped forward and addressed her friend. "New recruits?" she asked through a stuffy nose, once again sniffling. "When did they come?"

Chivosi couldn't help the sympathetic look that crossed her face upon spotting Merrill - poor creature looked utterly miserable at the moment and she had to admit that sniffing noise she made almost constantly was a bit off putting though Chiv attempted to ignore it.

Furthermore she knew Merrill enough to know the purple wolf would not appreciate her sympathetic look and so she tried to mask it as sympathy for the two pups, casting a look down at them and frowning slightly as one of them growled before looking back to Merrill. "I suppose you could call them that" She told her, taking a few steps off from the pups and lowering her voice as she joined her friend. "They are Corvus' pups.. apparently he had a run in with a member of a pack to our North. Their Alpha brought them here - their mother doesn't want them"

"Corvus's . . . ?" It took her a moment to register, and then she sighed and shook her head slightly. Cursed male, she had known from her first meeting with him that he had too much of his head in the wiling (or the wiles?) or females. "Dear. And I guess he has little interest in them, hmm?" Though the stuffiness of her nose might have lessened the prickly sentence, it was evident in her eyes that she was quite displeased that Corvus wasn't even bothering to come and claim them. Wasn't YMCa supposed to be a pack that is family to all who enter? He certainly wasn't being a great example!

"Poor things, they shall be staying with us, then? Where should we place them?" Why, they looked dead on their feet! How far had they travelled, and where was the mother? Was there only two, or were there more somewhere else? Spirits, she didn't have the mind to keep these questions and simply let them dissipate on her lips, wanting nothign mroe than to chew out Corvus for his irresponsibility. There was nothing wrong with siring pups, but Fatherhood was hardly this lazing about, sleeping with a female and not bothering with the pups! "They look tired and famished. I was about to go fish, if they need a meal."

"to be honest I'm not sure if he's aware of them...yet" Chivosi remarked with a slight frown, their mother had been a real piece of work and she shared this thought with Merrill. "I'm not sure if they have other siblings - but their mother was hardly a maternal creature, from what I gathered in our brief conversation she seems to have used Corvus rather then the other way around - and of course him being male and she being pretty I doubt it was hard. Regardless the pack they hail from is run by females - males are slaves - and while their alpha, Queen she calls herself says they are treated well and given a choice she thought the boys would have a better life here with their father" She paused for a few moments.

"I couldn't turn pups away obviously, even if they hadn't been related to one of ours so I said yes...and then we might have struck up an Allience of sorts, their Queen pledged her and her sisters help in times of trouble and i offered to take in those males who don't wish for a life of slavery. They have also extended an offer to train any of our females in their warrior ways if we so desire" Well that was about the gist of it and Chiv shrugged slightly - she wasn't sure how Merrill would take that news but having strong Allies had seemed like a good idea to her , had not they always said their pack was in need of warriors?

Back to the pups she turned to look at them as they devoured the rabbit in great gulps, it didn't look as though one rabbit was going to satisfy them both and she glanced back to Merrill. "I thought you hated water?" She commented knowing the other wolf would clearly make the leap that the pups would need more food the same as she had.

She sniffled again, clearing her throat. "I do hate it, very much so. But I can't hunt with one of my better senses cut off like this, and it isn't as if I haven't been practicing." Though those were few and far between really, being that Merrill only approached water to take a quick bath and nothing more - the fishing portion was if she was bored enough to try. "Well, well, at the least we have an alliance with a useful ally at last! Perhaps in the future we can ask some of their warriors to come and educate the young ones on how to fight properly." Spirits knew they needed it!

Merrill then noted belatedly that indeed the pair of boys had munched their way through a hare, though it hardly looked as if it satisfied them. "They look ready to collapse," she observed. "I'll see if I can fetch them a fish or two as well. In the meantime, I suppose Corvus should be alerted to their presence and shown his sons . . . Though not immediately, I'd think; those two don't look ready to meet many more wolves today."

"They are pretty tired - their mother pushed them pretty hard on the trip here and I was forced to make them walk the rest of the way, couldn't have them spending the night in the woods" Chivosi responded as she turned to look at the pups again. Poor dears.

"I imagine they'll fall asleep as soon as they are finished eatings - I'll seek Corvus out and tell him of course, he should know I imagine, he is their father - but if they are sleeping I won't let him wake them"

Lichen had been so distracted by his shared meal with his brother that he hadn't even noticed the purple wolfs arrival. But now as the rabbit carcass became nothing more than a pile of bones his attention turned to the voices - it was no longer just him, his brother and their new Alpha. No, now there was another wolf, a strange purple female. Another female, that's just what he needed - Lichen had a fear of females thanks to his mother - though Penthesilea and now Chivosi didn't seem all that bad.

Either way he didn't like the looks of this new comer and her sniffy voice was quite frightening to the small pup. So he did the only thing he could think of doing - and that was hide behind his brother. He knew Bracken would protect him is this purple one tried to do anything to him - or at least he hoped so. But as much as he wanted to make sure she wasn't going to hurt him Lichen was terribly tired. Letting out a yawn he laid down, curling himself into a tight ball next to Bracken, but he didn't fall asleep just yet, no he was listening to what the two adults were saying though most of their words slipped his mind due to exhaustion.

With his morning duties complete checking the southern border Corvus found himself on his way back to the dens. He was still a good distance away from the main dens, taking his time to return enjoying a relatively nice and warm spring day. Besides what was the point of rushing back to his den, sure that would let him rest a bit but why not take his time, enjoy the day, relax and then he could rest whenever he got there. Besides it's not like anything exciting was going to happen - not that life in YMCA was dull, but there was far less chaos and surprises here than in other packs. Nope, he was looking forward to the relaxing afternoon he had planned in his mind - and maybe get a nice little hunt in there somewhere as well.

"Or perhaps they'll fall asleep right now," Merrill said, observing one of the male as he slid behind his brother and curled up. So their mother had simply dumped them here after a forced march? It wasn't unrealistic to Merrill to hear about something like that, though in her mind it was within less . . . grassy plains and hills and such. "I'll fetch some fish if the spirits allow, then, and bring them over. Be back in a . . . moment." Her speech was paused momentarily because, as she turned her head to leave, she spotted the familiar mismatched green pelt heading their way: Corvus as laid back as usual, apparently without a care in the world.

Had her nose not been full of snot, she might have snorted. "Or not. I'd like to watch Corvus first," Merrill began again, "and see this reaction and its results. Corvus!" she called. "Come here for a moment. There are some guests for you to see."

Bracken hadn't been paying any attention to the adults - even as they seemed to be multiplying, instead he had concentrated on bolting down as much food as he could before they changed their mind and took it away. Probably to give to some female pup - he hadn't seen any female pups yet but he was certain there must be some lurking in the shadows somewhere.

Like his brother he too was terribly tired and when Lichen slunk behind him and curled up to sleep Bracken couldn't help but elicit his own yawn. With a wary glance at the adults he lay down beside his brother to rest thought he kept his eyes open to keep watch. He'd see when Lichen woke up again, that way neither of them could be surprised by an angry female. He kept a narrow eyed look leveled at the two females.

The pup angry looks were not lost on Chivosi and she frowned slightly before turning back to Merrill. "they're such angry and scared little things" she whispered to the other female with a tinge of worry "I hope they can over come it and become normal pups" she continued before falling silent and turning her gaze towards Corvus. This would be interesting he thought to herself as she waited for the green wolf to obey Merrill's summons.

Corvus' head popped up a bit at Merrill's voice. He had visitors? Mind raced as he tried to think of who would possibly come and visit him. His old pack and family were too far away to make this trip - even if there was something important come up. All of his friends were in this pack and the only other wolf he could think of was that female he hadn't seen in quite some time now - and she had been very adamant about not getting close to the others so there was no way she would be this close to the den.

Making his way over to Merrill he tipped his head to the Alpha and Beta. "Chivosi, Merrill." He couldn't see any visitors, just two of his pack mates. That was until he let his eyes roam just a bit more until he spotted two balls of green fluff. As he took in the green fur with its pink and maroon markings his mind raced. Those markings were all too similar to the female he had run into a while back who seemed to both hate him and love him. A small part of his mind told him 'Those are your pups' but a much larger part of his mind said 'No they are not.' Corvus of course listened to the much larger part of his brain and looked back up at the two females. "Are um - those the visitors?" His voice was a bit shaky and the expression on his face was a good indication of the shock at such a sight, though behind that there was happiness.

"Close enough," Merrill replied. "From what Chivosi tells me, a certain female dropped them off after death marching them over, saying they were yours to keep rather than be slaves in her pack." She was quite civil in tone, but oh there was that subtle lace of wryness that seemed to be capable of any female: the talent of speaking polite enough words with heavier undertones and unspoken statements. In this case, Merrill's was "How on Telk could you not be aware she would be back?"

Never mind that the territory was large enough that it was within reason that Corvus simply could have missed their arrival. There shone the mother's bias she had been nurturing since Verse was a pup - maybe as far back as when Chivosi' kids had been born even - and it was this that did not allow her to see his happiness.

"Apparantly we've also made alliances with said Amazonian pack, so I suppose there's a silver lining to this for us in the end. Newblood's always welcome and all, but you'd think the parenting would be under better circumstances if the mother won't even look for you. Not sure if the tykes have names or not, but they haven't said a word since they arrived. Not that I blame them, they look ready to eat a whole fox and sleep it off. I was actually off to get some fish," Merrill said, clearing her throat a bit. "You're welcome to come along; or stay with the kids. Might be anxious to see you."

"They have names" Chivosi chimed in as Corvus joined them and Merrill explained the situation. "The one with the purple-pink points is Lichen and the one with the light pink swirls on his side is Bracken, the Antianeira Queen told me as such, she also wishes to visit them from time to time to see how they are doing" Chivosi continued as she watched Corvus for his response with a slightly arched brow.

"I might suggest you use a bit more wisdom when choosing your mates in the future Corvus - these pups have not been treated well and Thealia was wiling to throw them away like trash, you are young but not stupid - I trust you'l think with your head more then other parts of our anatomy in the future?" Her voice was kind - but one could not mistake the small lecture she gave him as anything but serious. Of course even as Alpha she could hardly tell him who to fall in love with - Chivosi wasn't that sort of alpha and her own mate was hardly the sparkling example he ought to be, but she could at least hope he would take her advice under consideration and think things through next time.

Though Corvus clearly head every word the two females said his face spoke a different story. He looked confused and quite scared, though he nodded slowly to their words. Eyes moved to the pups once more, their names rolling around in his very fuddled mind. "My sons." He whispered, there was a bit of awe in his voice. The two pups certainly looked half starved but at least now they were in a safer spot.

He looked up at Merrill for a moment. "Alliances are good." Though it was clear that at this point he could care less whether the two packs were allies or not. His main focus was on the pups for now. Normally Corvus never turned down the chance to go hunting whether it was with Merrill or any other pack member, but today - today was different. "No, I think I would like to stay with my pups." He told her before glancing down at the two pups.

"Yes of course." He said with a quick glance at Chivosi. He would have elaborated more that he would certainly be more careful in the future but honestly his mind wasn't working all that well right now other than being filled to the brim with thoughts of his pups. Taking a hesitant step forward Corvus tried to get a better look at his sons thought could see they were quite scared and a bit angry right now. That didn't surprise him as he recalled his first meeting with Thealia. As he looked up at Chivosi and Merrill again his face changed for a moment to a more serious look. "I will raise them right." Glancing back at the pups his face fell once more into that half confused, half awe filled look.
