What are the rules for halal? Are they any different from Kosher?

They're a lot more relaxed than kosher food.

1) No pork!

2) Meat must be halal. The animal lives a normal life, and not pumped with hormones. When the animal is killed, it is killed in the name of Allah (swt) and they do a clean slice across the throat.

Yes shellfish is permitted.

Haraam foods include
Pork, Pure Blood, Food's sacrifice to Idols, Human Flesh, Impure Meats, Dead Animals(I.E Those dieing in the wild)
