I cant wait to see it. I might be ordering tickets tonight! Weee! If you guys wanna check it out go to www.Lestat.com
Maybe if anyone else wants to see it we can set up a day and meet each other there :3
When I was in the city the other day with some friends we were RIGHT outside the theatre were Lestat will be playing. I was foaming out the mouth!

I was chatting with this guy in Manhattan. He said: "I saw Lestat, don't see it!" I've read a few reviews that the music was really bad, and Panaro stands absolutely still and does nothing for a 6 minute song. They said that while Panaro gets to show off his facial expessions here, he's not as great an actor as in 'Phantom'... He also said 'Lestat is the perfect example of how to take a great book, crumple it up, chew it up and spit it out'

I'm not an Anne Rice fan to begin with. So, I doubt I'd see it.

K-Mage He also said 'Lestat is the perfect example of how to take a great book, crumple it up, chew it up and spit it out' Ouch that's gotta hurt someone's ego... I'll reserve my judgement since there a ton of critics who have HIGH standards. And I'd like to say, is it just me or does Hugh Panaro as Lestat (as seen in the trailer for the show) look like James Marsters (a.k.a. Spike from Buffy)?

The very thought of this musical makes me cringe, I cannot see this book as a musical, and the music in the preview seems way too cheery....

I might see it if it ever comes remotely close to where I live (aka if it goes to Denver). If only to see Louis sing. It doesn't seem like a 'musical' type story, but maybe it'll be alright.

When I read that they were making this musical, I could not help but think this had to be a joke somehow. But lo and behold, suddenly Hugh Panaro gets yoinked from Phantom for the role and then I had to accept his Anne Rice-y face.
Some of the music is alright, but it would be much better if it weren't for a musical like this. Actually, I love "I Want More" just because it always gets stuck in my head and there's something about it that entertains me; but beyond that, I think that Elton John was a bad choice for a musical that should have much darker music and has much darker themes. It doesn't suit the mood at all.
...And I never really was a fan of Lestat in the first place. I loathed "The Vampire Lestat." I'm more of Marius type of person, myself, if I had to choose a favorite character...
..And no, I wouldn't sit through the musical just to see Marius. x)

It closed Sunday, my friend was mourning. Apparently it was too homoerotic for the critics.

BakaTulip It closed Sunday, my friend was mourning. Apparently it was too homoerotic for the critics. That's too bad. I was hoping it would go on tour (although it might now that it's closed on Broadway? I dunno, I live out here in the sticks). Anyway, what did they expect? Lestat's bisexual, after all, and he seems to fall for everyone he meets.

I totaly agree with you though, Elton's type of music isnt quite as dark, but from what I've heard (small, itty-bitty sound bits), it takes on a slightly darker tone... And not only does Lestat fall in love with anyone he meets, he falls in love with his mother...

K-Mage And not only does Lestat fall in love with anyone he meets, he falls in love with his mother... I remember that. That was super, SUPER disturbing. *shudders* I've always thought that Lestat liked Louis best of everyone, but it's still hard to get the hold incest bit out of one's memory
