Fale sighed and took a deep breath as he prepared to knock on Paige's door. The fox girl had come to the house recently and he had yet to talk to her. The only reason, and problem, was that she had caught his eye as she entered the house, and he was too shy to say anything. She seemed receptive to the other guys who had gotten up to introduce themselves and offer to show her around the house. While he, he did nothing. He looked down at his outfit and he hated it more than he ever had. Paige was pretty and he knew already that she liked fashionable clothes, which his outfit, was not.

Paige looked up at her mannequin, housing the new dress she was working on and frowned. She stood up and brushed her own dress off. "How annoying," she puffed, a ribbon was out of place, and in her rule book, things were not allowed to be out of place. She pinned it back in the right position and smiled. It had only been a few days since she arrived at her new home with her brother, but she liked it already. The others were nice, especially a few of the boys, as to what their true intentions were, she already knew and would disregard them if they approached. Paige became so lost in thought she almost did not hear a series of knocking on her door, amazingly they were soft, but well enough to pierce the silence of her room to her ears.

Fale had knocked, he knocked! His stomach was fluttering with butterflies in anticipation, but what if she declined his offer? What if someone else had already shown her the house and introduced her to most or everyone in said house? The anxiety of not knowing changed those butterflies into daggers of fear. Now Fale was not only unfashionable but he wasn't of any use to Paige. What was he going to do now?! It was too late to run away, he could hear her as close as ever to the door, she'd open up soon. Maybe he could make up a lie? He was just... just passing by and wanted to know if she wanted lunch! That's right! If only lunch had not been a few hours ago! The door knob turned and he clenched his eyes and mouth shut, waiting for the door to open.

As Paige neared the door, she could see the shadows of someones feet moving around nervously. She groaned internally, it was going to be one of those males that wanted to show her around. Then she had a thought, she didn't call out to say she was coming, maybe she could just work silently and they wouldn't even know she was there. She shook her head and cleared that thought, that would be rude. She had just moved in so she did need a tour, her brother would never do it; he would always be too busy, but a tour from the right individual. But who would be the right one? A girl perhaps? That way she wouldn't have to worry about being hit on, but there were those out there that were homosexuals so she wouldn't be really safe either way. By the time all of the thoughts had flooded through her, her hand was on the doorknob, she had come this far, she might as well open it.

Fale watched the door open to a slightly smiling Paige. He wondered if maybe now wasn't a good time for her. What if he asked and she denied him? That might not be so bad, but what if she made fun of his outfit, curse it! He shifted nervously as she stared at him.
"H-hi Paige. I-I um.. was wondering if... you'd uh... like a tour of the house? I-if your not busy?"

Paige opened the door and tried her best to put on a smiling face, only to wear it halfheartedly, hope that didn't come off bad. Compared to who she was thinking was at the door, the boy in front of her didn't seem so bad, though the same couldn't be said for his outfit. She blinked at him and heard his nervous studder of sentences and smiled sincerely.
"Well, I would, but i'm a little busy making a dress," she replied, putting out a slightly shy tone. "Though if you think you can help me, it'd be great to afterwords."

Fale's spirits brightened up when she smiled at him and said he could help her. This was great! She didn't automatically reject him or anything! And, this would get some nice alone time, to get to know her as well. Introductions to everyone else might sidetrack her into talking to someone else. Maybe someone else would take her for the rest of the tour?! No, no, he wouldn't let that happen, or would he? Depends on who it was, he wouldn't stand much of a chance against most of the house, especially parts of his family. He realized he must look silly staring so he replied in a hurried tone.
"That would be great! I-I dont know how I can help you, but i'd like to at least try!"

Paige could tell the boy was happy after he heard her offering, he was cute, though nervous. She'd have to help him sort out his nervousness and fashion sense, that outfit was hurting her eyes. His willingness to help her made her smile again, but what were his true intentions? Even if they may be in the same direction as some of the other males, she wouldn't mind this one. Sides, he seemed too nice to do anything bad.
"Ok, well, you know my name, but I don't know yours," Paige said, looking at him intently. Maybe she could get a better feel of who he was.

Fale looked aghast, he had to tell her his name? That wasn't what he thought she'd ask him. He grew nervous once again. His name, he hadn't thought about it much but, his name sounded like fail, as if he was a failure. But his parents had named him that from the beginning, so how would they know right? His name was a combination of his parents names and nothing else, right?
"F-fale," he said softly, looking down.

Paige saw the reaction on the boy's face when she asked him his name. Was that not something he wanted to give away? And if so, why not? Don't people who want to meet and be friends with others give each other their name? She thought about what she just thought, be friends? That's what he wanted right? As she dwelled on it, she wanted to be his friend.
"What was that?" Paige bent over to be at a lower level than his head so she could hear him better.

Fale noticed the puzzled look on Paige's face. He felt bad for not wanting to tell her his name. He wanted to get to know her and having a name to call someone by was important. He thought about making up a name, but if someone else called to him and he replied, Paige would think less of him for lying. He shifted a bit, being in the spotlight. And then he decided, he wasn't going to hide it.
"My name is Fale," he said in a strong tone, looking into Paige's eyes.

Paige looked at the boy who called himself "Fale" with disbelief. Surely that wasn't his name, right? He must be pulling her leg. The thought about lying about his name tipped her off a little bit, it wasn't really funny, unless he had come out right then and there that it wasn't his name.
"That's not funny," she started with a serious tone,"Don't make up a name."

The look on Paige's face made Fale put his view to the floor in nervousness again. But when she spoke, his head shot up to speak.
"But that's really my name!"
Why would he lie about his name? True he had thought about it, but he didn't want to damage the little relationship they had.
"It combines my parents names, Cale and Fate," he said trailing off, his eyes back to the floor, feeling a little ashamed as if he had lied about his name.

Paige looked surprised when Fale spoke quickly after accusing him of lying about his name. Why would anyone want to name their child something that sounded so... belittling. Again to her amazement, he spoke again, regarding why his name was the way it was. That made a little more sense.
"I'm sorry," Paige said a little sheepishly,"I didn't really think anyone would ever have a name like yours. Though I shouldn't really talk since my name sounds like a page that you find in a book."

Fale looked back up at Paige, and if he could have put a hand on her shoulder, he would've, but he couldn't bring himself to do it.
"It's ok. I know its not a traditional name," Fale said smiling a little bit. He stood there, and the thought about helping her with her dress came back into his mind. They had both gotten sidetracked by their names instead of working and going on the house tour.
