Beware, one of Wolfeh's trademark uber posts. D: (Btw, I tend to say "We" instead of "I" alot, that means me and my mum XD It's just become a habit.)
So, this has just started happening recently, though not too recently... I forgot when it started happening, probably 3 years ago, but I would joke with my mom about how we were cursed or something.
Well, now I don't think we're actually cursed, though it could be possible I just don't see how, but there has to be something going on, its getting to be more than just coincidental.
Lately whenever I'm glad that things have been going well or being happy that we have "good luck" really bad things happen, like recently I was happy that things were going good then all of a sudden our washer over flows and while I was cleaning it up I slipped down the stairs and sliced my elbow open and hit my back really good. Usually it takes about 6 hours for this to happen, and pretty much all of the incidents are like this, I realize we're having good luck, a few hours later, something really bad happens.
Sometimes though it wouldn't take that.
I know it sounds crazy but, like I said, its been happening so much it seems like its more than just coincidental. We've started looking for amethyst because its been used as a good luck stone, and we got a rose quartz rock. My mom gave me a cross that was blessed by a nun, and right after she gave that to me I felt extremely calm, I never noticed before how... I don't know, energized? I felt. From a scientific view it could have just been that I felt it would take the bad luck away so I didn't feel as stressed or something. I then went outside to clean up the yard and saw two mourning doves land on the fence that was quite close to me, even after I picked more things up they didn't fly away, which all of the birds around here are extremely skiddish, being wild and all, I was shocked. Birds don't even come out of hiding when they sense danger, and people don't hand feed them or anything because we're out in the boonies. I felt like that was a good sign, (even though they have "mourning" in the name) and since wearing this I haven't had anything really bad happen when I think things are going well. I also asked mom what doves symbolize because I know they're in weddings and such so they had to mean something, and she said they mean peace, happiness, and love.
Really weird huh? I've never been a real solid believer in bad luck until just recently, its just plain weird.
From a real paranormal standpoint my mother does believe I have medium-like "powers" or abilities, whatever you would like to call them, because it seems to run in the family (my grandfather and brother are especially physic, more emotionally though. Me and my mother are the same way, but I haven't had a real solid experience in quite a while, the last time was that I was feeling my aunt. They check in with us when they get a "bad feeling" sometimes. There's other family members even more interesting than that, but I don't want to make this TOO long, though I probably already have.) Anyways, one theory could be a demon attracted to that causing the bad luck. Since it sounds like my grandmother may have been possessed, if she's died recently it could have come to us, but I don't know anything about her, meaning no contact whatsoever. (When my mom gave me this cross she said when ever my grandma wore a cross she said it would be choking her. I found that kind of spooky.) Last time she sent a postcard though she looked healthy, it seems kind of hard to believe that she could have died, and my grandfather keeps in touch with everyone, he probably would have told us if she died.
But enough of my ramblings, I'm definitely never ever taking this cross off, even if it doesn't match my outfit XD (Under the shirt, ftw?)
What do you think? Got any skeptic opinions? (Without being rude please, no remarks like "stay off the shrooms".) Scientific opinions? Have you ever had terrible bad luck or have used good luck charms that worked? (I always thought good luck charms were nice to look at, but I never really believed in them bringing good luck.)

And looking at wiki on
mourning doves it says they've been used as a symbol for peace. Still looking for how they act towards humans. So far I've just found that they're extremely common (though not around here, we live in the desert, sage brush, sand-like dirt, the works. These guys come here in the spring, some leave in the summer, usually two remain (because it gets boiling here) and then they leave in the fall. So far I've seen six on the telephone line. But in my personal experience they are usually afraid of us, and stay on the telephone lines. Usually being like we can walk by some on a telephone line and they're fine, but if they're feeding on the ground they'll leave, usually they only go on the fence to look for danger before feeding on the ground.

I started wondering if it was all just in my mind, but now I don't think so. I've stopped having bad luck for quite a long while now, in fact things have been great, even thinking about things being great I haven't had bad things happen afterwords. I had one more bad event happen after posting this, while wearing the cross too, but after that everything stopped. I also discovered "Animal spirit guides" and think the doves could have been one. Man, the paranormal never stops amazing me.
