User Image -Wednesday evening. One of the few free nights, sandwiched in between the two days in which the ballroom dance club met. A club in which fine young ladies practiced their etiquette and dancing skills. It was like finishing school on a voluntary basis. Hardly ever that exciting, usually scripted to almost the same event over and over, but nonetheless not unenjoyable.

With less than a week left before Jada's debutante ball and only one day of practice left Aurora had begun to mill over her preparations. Certainly she was skilled enough for a simple waltz, and she was more then ready with her dressings and the lofty sum one was morally and socially obligated to bring to such events. But there was something else.. Something else that worried her that she might not be prepared for.

Which is why she'd spent the night before looking up any and every dance studio and fitness club in the general area. And why now, paper slip in hand, she made her way down the street pausing outside the Destiny City Dance Academy.

What she really needed was a stranger. Some boy she'd never danced with and never met before, someone to see if she'd freeze up or make a fool of herself. She soothed the edges of her baby blue uniform as she glanced through the large windows into the building. Aurora wasn't great with awkward, but better to be awkward in front of a few people here.. then in front of the entire ball on Saturday. Hand pressing against the door gently, she made her way in.-

User ImageOrdinarily, Andrea was not at the studio on Wednesdays, but since it was drawing closer and closer to the time for his performance, he had more frequent practices. He had his costume now, and so had scheduled a bit of extra time to practice some of the movements for his dance, to see how they felt with Prince Ivan's short cape over one shoulder. At first, there had been some controversy about the colors of Andrea's hair and whether it would look like that at the recital, too, but Mister Walters had pointed out that the bleached tips with Andrea's slightly curly black hair made a nice color combination. And so the ladies who did the costumes for the dance school had made an an awesome outfit for Andrea in golds and whites, accented with blacks.

There were no other classes going on in the studio at the moment, but a young blonde woman worked over the wood floors in the back of the large room with a broom while Andrea occupied the front space. He stopped occasionally, holding a pose to examine himself in one of the large mirrors while he adjusted the angle of an arm or curve of a leg, correcting where he needed to. The cape would take some getting used to, but overall, the boy decided he really liked how the outfit had turned out. He felt like a prince.

When the door opened, he paused again, balanced on one foot with his arms raised for balance, and turned an only slightly-perplexed smile towards the newcomer.

"Can we help you?" he inquired politely, smoothly moving out of his ballet pose to stand straight again. He did not officially work at the school, but he had been attending long enough that he practically could have. "Lessons are over for tonight, and we're about to close, but if you need any information, I can try to give you a hand? Or Miss Regina can help you," he added, glancing back at the lady in the back who had stopped her sweeping to smile and wave to the newcomer as well.

He felt maybe a little silly dressed up in his costume, but he had been up in front of people for practice and for performance while dressed as any number of characters. A light flush touched his cheeks, but it could easily have been from the workout.

-Aurora had taken ballet lessons when she was young. A gift from her father which had evolved to other dances the older she got, never really sticking with one long enough to master it, but rather adding a large variety to her repertoire. She did it for fun and because it was the ladylike thing to do. Nonetheless, she recognized the stature of the boy's body as a ballet position when she entered, watching him curiously until he turned to address her, the entire grandour of the pose and the outfit finally taking it's toll.

Prince charming was speaking to her.

Her lips pursed in surprise, eyes filtering over the cape and beautiful gold. It took her a long moment for her brain to catch up with the words that had just been spoken, and when it did, a defensive "Oh.. umm" escaped her.

Collecting her wits, for obviously he wasn't ACTUALLY a prince.. well probably, she smiled a little glancing back and forth between the two.- "I didn't realize.. I'm sorry."

-Her plan shot down just because she'd showed up a little late.. ugh.. maybe she'd be able to come back Thursday.. possibly fridays. Realizing that she was still standing there, not saying anything her dark cheeks suddenly flushed, words spilling from her mouth as not to be rude.-

"Actually.... I was just looking for someone for a short personal lesson. One last little practice before the Chamberlyn's ball this weekend. A personal tutor.. or something like that?"

-Her fingers dug into her sachel, drawing forth a delicate black wallet.- "I'll happily pay the studio and the person involved for the lesson."

"It doesn't have to be here or anything even.. if I could just get a name and number of someone you think might be interested." -She was sounded desperate.. she rather looked it too, clutching her wallet so.-

"Well, I won't be getting to that part of the floor just yet, since Andrea was already planning on practicing a little bit longer," the woman identified as Miss Regina replied. "Sooo it is up to him, I suppose. Just let me know if you need the music player with some ballroom songs."

Andrea opened his mouth to respond and turned to look back at his instructor for more help ...but she just smiled as she returned her attention pointedly to the sweeping. She had teased him often enough about having more than his share of lovely potential girlfriends among the other students at the studio, since there were so few other boys. So he figured that this was her way of encouraging him on this front, as well.

"Well," he began. The dark-haired boy did have a few more steps he wanted to run, but he also had a little while for practice still before the days of the performances. He became suddenly aware of the fatigue in his muscles, the select ones he had been working over and over, and reached down to pick up one leg to stretch it for a moment.

"No need to pay, but I only have about half an hour tonight." Andrea smiled and held out his hand. "The Chamberlyn's ball is the charity ball, right? So actual proper dancing music?" He had heard a bit about the event, primarily through his mother, who, being involved in the fashion business, tended to pick up information about that sort of thing all the time.

"Miss Regina, can we please have a bit of ballroom music?" Doing something different for a bit would be a nice cooldown. There was no reason to overwork himself tonight.

-She was surprised to say the least. But gratitude and a sheer sense of thrill quickly pushed away the surprise and a good portion of the nervousness that had been plagueing her before. The air she'd been holding came out in a sigh of relief, her smile growing two times wider.

She'd already scurried over to the boy by the time he'd agreed, stopping only to slip her shoes from her feet, figuring the socks would be better for the floor anyway.-

"Aurora Namid, thanks so much again." -She was offering her hand if he wanted to take it, while the other waved away the idea that thirty minutes was too short.-

"I'm actually in the dancing club at the Academy and have a class during the day. It's more a matter of variety, I tend to dance with all the same people all the time." -Politely put, mostly with girls.

She probably seemed like an excitable puppy, which was not normally her, but she was just so relieved. Composing herself, atleast enough that she wasn't nearly bouncing at her toes, she nodded.- "Yes, it's my classmate's debutante ball and a charity ball to raise money for the hospital. So quite formal."

The boy could not help but smile at her enthusiasm, and made a leg as he took her hand. So long as he was dressed as a prince, then he could keep on acting like one. "I'm Andrea Gyfford, pleased to meet you, Miss Aurora," he replied.

He nodded at her talk of what instruction she had already had, then inquired, "Which Academy? And how much ballroom do you know?" A faint worry settled in his stomach, since, if she was taking regular classes, she may know more than him already. After all, his own ballroom instruction had been largely for fun. However, if all she really wanted was another partner....

As the "Blue Danube Waltz" came over the studio's speakers, Andrea grinned again to Aurora. Hopefully he would be able to gauge how much she knew, and if it was too much more than he knew, that his teacher would step in and lend a hand.

"Are you ready?"

-His charming act was not helping, or rather, perhaps it WAS helping. Surely she'd meet noone nearly as princely as him at the ball, and charm was just what she'd come to test herself out against. Even with the darkness of her skin a soft flush could be seen building at her cheeks, and whether or not her noticed the soft flinch in her fingers as she offered them to be taken and guided she wasn't sure.-

"Crystal Academy. And just the general dance classes and specialty classes. Not an expert, but no amateur either" -She offered with a mild smile, pausing in her speech to listen to the music for a moment and start that imaginary clock in her head. One, two, three, four.-

"I am" -She nodded gratefully in response, taking her place to follow in time. Moment of truth time. Well.. atleast the beat of her heart would help her keep beat.-

Andrea kept smiling as he led her in a simple waltz to the music, nodding as she explained what classes she had taken.

"I haven't done as much ballroom dancing, but hopefully this is still helpful? You alright at this pace?" he inquired, glancing down at her feet briefly. Aurora had not yet stepped on him, which was more than could be said for some people he had danced with.

There was also the matter of her being able to relax enough to keep it up, too, though, and she seemed a bit nervous, judging by her blush and all. ... Though Andrea wondered if it was partly because he himself was all dressed up. Really, though, his partner did not seem bad at all.
