There's that "rick oldbie" look too.
Gaia t-shirt, fresh grass skirt, staff of angels and other old angelic stuff.
The first step to avoid that is to not stick so many angelic items in the same avatar.

There is another look that isn't from a certain group, but is actually something that can happen all around Gaia. Certain items become hype immediately after they are released, like the Scarlet Mist hair, and aren't really good for making avatars. The items depend on avatars made around them.
The best way to avoid this is give the items some time before buying them, you'll think more whether you'll use it or not. Or if you really want to use the new item, try to use it in a way other people might not think of using it or in a different pose.

The weird thing I find is with the "gangsta" look is how real "gangstas" look nothing like that IRL. Especially with the wings, what's up with that? And how is Gaia not on a shortage of Lusty Scoundrels?

Yeah. You could get them for less than 10k back in the day. Nobody hoarded them. Would have said: "That's a terrible investment, August 2008 is." Except now Lusty is absurdly popular.

That would be the basic premise of supply and demand. Lots of people want them so the price is forced up an up because there is a limited supply. Lusty is actually a MC, not just a Cash Shop item.

XD I think those rally gangstas are sort of.. ironic. I think they're cute. They got on their tough guy chains and baggy clothes... and then a pair of slippers, or a cute little plushie or a big oversized toy gun. One of these days I need to go save images of their avatars. When/if this fad is gone, it'll be fun to have pics to show people.

As to the lusty scoundrels... yeah, they shot up after the summer event last year. People were adding them to their squirt gun water fight outfits. You know, to look more wet. I guess the fad caught on... and stuck.
I was mad, still am mad, that I didn't buy one. Those lusty scoundrels sat at 30k for, like, ever. (Or 20-25k) Then I see that they're 50k... 80k... 100k... more... WTF. XD And yeah, it wasn't popular when it was released. The war of the warlords wasn't too popular either. I'm sad that I bought it first before the lusty. It's still only 25k even though the letter is worth a little over 300k. D; Bad decision on my part. I thought the warlords would inflate before lusty. XD; (I didn't think either of them would inflate much though.) I'm not too worried because I do have a letter for the lusty. I just wanted to buy it from the marketplace and save my letter instead. I'm waiting until I absolutely need the lusty before I do.


XD I like the angelic items look. I thought of it before anyone else did! D< Or, at least, I felt that way. I don't mean the one with the fresh grass skirt, gaia shirt, slippers, etc. I mean full on angelic items with a gold and angelic blue color scheme. I made that goal back in 04 when we had like zero gold items. XD I had an angelic pendant, staff and winged anklets. My goal was to get golden laurels and fairy wings. I waited each month, hoping for a new angelic MC I could add to my outfit so that I could make it complete.
...but.. I guess everyone else had those thoughts once we got enough angelic items. Soon, everyone cluttered on angelic items. ; .; So sad. So... generic. I made that goal so I'd be different. I swear all the other users were piling on demonic items.
I still like avatars that run with the angelic theme. Or all those male avatars that run with the gold, heroic, slightly angelic theme. The idea is nothing new, but I still have a soft spot for them.


Another style I see is... the bad tekteker style. I see them in tektek threads all over. The people are so proud of their examples, but it looks like all they do is equip the most expensive items possible. They rarely use gold shop items unless it's sweet lace or g-lol (sorta lolita style). Their item combos are just so random and the only thing that ties the items together is that they're expensive or the latest fad item.
I'll have to.. find some examples.
I cringe when I see people order such bad tekteks. I can't believe that it's so hard to make a tektek that just equips the newest expensive items.
What I also can't stand, are tekteks that look awesome only because the layering isn't possible on Gaia. And people pay for them! D; ...but that's another topic.

I call the "bad tekteker" ones "wealth blobs". Where they put on OMG or AFK and Glaurels and Horns and a Pendant and Slippers and Chyaku and... so on and so forth.

I also don't like the "Oh boy! Let's use the latest, shiniest item." It's shiny and new but everyone is using it and they're using it in the same way and it's just bleh. That's why I restrain myself. I never buy super new items. And restraining myself is also good because when I do buy it... it's less expensive.

Another style I don't like... that we're about to see a lot of is the "beach" style. They've got on their bathing suit top and the little cut offs for the girls or swim trunks for the boys and they've got flippers and water wings and little inner tubes and a puddle of water beneath their feet and a towel in one hand and sometimes a scuba mask or the water baloon splash.

I love fitting my newest item in an outfit. But usually the "newest item" is an older gen EI, a cheap cash shop item or even something I bought in the gold shops (but usually I buy gold shop items when I need it to add to an almost finished outfit).

The problem with GCD is that they don't consider the quality of the item first. Like the Scarlet mist hair. EVERYONE was using it (and with the crimson promise, very creative). But it is huge and weird. So as soon as it got old, it stopped being used.
