It had felt like years since the trip to the zoo with Pippin. Vali had never taken off the friendship band his winged friend had given him. And now wail he was waiting in a shop for his friend he was spinning the band around his wrist as he watched the door.

He had called up Pippin and asked him to go to a Ceramic Paint Shop. The shop mostly had already made ceramic items to be painted and customized by the people who came into the shop. On the selves there was everything from dish ware, to figures, piggy banks, to race cars and mugs. He did not know if Pippin was very artsy but he thought it could be really fun to get to paint things and see what they came up with. There was even a section in the back that would let them make their own bowls. But Dooma had told him that that would take about three weeks to make the bowl and paint it and have it finished up.

Vali had claimed a table and there was already paint, a paint chart to show the colors that would come out, brushes, and cups of water. Now all he needed was his friend. He really hope that they would not get lost on the way to the shop.

Ever since Pippin had received the call from his best friend Vali, he had been waiting for the day they would get together. It always seemed like forever when they weren't playing together, so he had felt a certain rush of excitement at the call.

Now the day when they would play again had finally come, and Pippin couldn't have been happier. He grinned widely as he and his mother walked along, preparing to enter the Ceramic Paint Shop they had been told of. Pippin wasn't much of an artist... at all, but he was willing to at least try for his friend. Even if he wasn't the best, he would get to see Vali and that was all that really mattered.

Upon entering Pippin looked around, seeing his friend at a table. "Hi Vali!" he said, waving his arms in excitement as he smiled at the other and trotted over- making sure to be careful as there were breakables around. "You ready to paint?" he asked, pushing up his glasses with a single finger while waiting for an answer.

Vali had been shocked to see his friend. It was almost like it had been years. Pippin was much taller now and his hair was not in a cute little pony tail. Yes pony tails could be cute. His smiles grew wide and he stood almost spilling a cup of water, but Dooma had caught it, and moved to hug Pippin. He could not spin his friend because of all the breakable things. "Pip has gotten bigger!"

He gently let go of his friend. "Oh yes I am looking forward to painting. I have never painted before. Well at least not ceramic things." He gave a nod and points. "Dooma says she will treat so we can pick anything we want to to paint!"

Pippin was just as surprised to see his friend's new look as well, "Oh wow! You got bigger too! And your hair's longer!" the boy laughed, embracing his friend in his arms as the other did. It was amazing how much they had both grown, it hadn't been that long, had it? How strange.

"Really?" the boy asked when Vali explained what Dooma had offered. He turned to her with a bright smile on his face, "Oh thank you Dooma!" the boy exclaimed, very appreciative of the woman. "What were you gonna paint Vali?" he asked, trying to get an idea of what he should paint.

The shop was filled with so many things. Some of the examples had a glossy glaze covering them, and that looked pretty. He sort of liked the little animal statues, but enjoyed the tea cups as well since that would be fun to drink out of.

Vali laughed softly. He really was very impressed with how tall Pipping was getting. He still seemed so thin though. Vali smiled as Dooma say that it was her pleasure when Pippin thanked her.

As his friend ask what he had planned on doing he but a slightly clawed finger to his lips. "Well I was thinking bout the pyramid bank. It has four sides so I can do something different on each side or maybe do all the sides with the same thing. And I can keep money in it to take us out one day." he gave one of his trade marked shark grins and almost had to grab his tail to keep from wagging it. "Thy have so very much it was hard to choose!"

Pippin returned Dooma's smile with a small one of his own, obviously very appreciative and respectful of her offers and such.

He then turned back towards his friend, "I have a bank at home, I kind of think I might paint a tea cup. Mother has one she always uses, so I think it would be nice if I had my own too." he said with a small nod. The boy had a newly found love for tea, although he was quite young. He also liked hot chocolate, and figured he could put that in the same cup and it would work just as well. "I'll start saving up money in my bank too, then we can have a really fun day sometime later." he said with a small smile, nodding gently.

Vali's mouth and the slight tilt of his head made him looked a bit shocked. "Oh wow how much money do you have saved?" He then bit his lip quickly, "A tea cup would be really good. They have lots of glasses and cups...and um...what is the other one....oh yes mugs!" He smiled brightly. "Okay you pick out your cup and I will go and get us a paint chart and some more brushes!"

Moving carefully his tail as close to his body as it would go Vali made is way over to a table full of different paints and brushes of all sizes. There were even some sponges to stamp things. He picked out a color chart that showed how many coats it took of each color to get what shade of that color and three small brushes and two large ones.

Pippin looked up towards the ceiling, thinking for a moment, "I think I've got about twenty dollars, but I dun remember really. I can check when I get home." he said with a nod, hoping he would remember to do so. Sometimes he forgot, but overall he had a good memory so he wasn't too worried.

When Vali spoke he nodded his head, "Alright, I'll be at the table in a minute!" he said, turning carefully and walking over to a section that had plenty of cups and plates. He looked around for a minute, before spotting a small tea cup and picking it up carefully (with both hands) before he headed back to the table. He was happy that he had managed to find something fun and productive to paint like Vali had.

He sat down across from where Vali was sitting and smiled, "Good brushes Vali, these are going to look great." he said with a similar optimism his mother had, "Are you ready to paint or do we need anything else?" he asked, never having done this before so he was unsure of exactly what to do.

Vali gasped hearing how much money Pippin had. That was a whole lot of money. Lucky Pippin! He giggled as he dropped the brushes and paints onto the table and smiled. "Hmm....we have brushes and some colors of paint oh and water so I think we are ready!" He moved to squirt some of the paint onto a painting tray when Dooma spoke.

"Not so fast boys. If you want the paint to stick better and not smear as much you have to first wipe the dust from the things we are painting first." She took up a piece of a paper towel and dipped it into the water before she moved to wipe it over the large bowl she was going to paint. "Don't get it too wet though, just enough to wipe the whole thing. This will get all the dust off and it will turn out better."

Vali sets the paint bottle down and nods, "Oh I don't want it to get messed up!" He tore a piece of paper towel for himself, Pippin, and Pippin's mother. "There you go." he then dipped his piece into one of the bowls of water and started to wipe his bank. "Dust is no good!"

Pippin nodded his head, wow, Dooma sure knew a lot about painting stuff! He took the paper towel and said a quick thank you before dipping it in the lukewarm water. He held the piece gently so as not to break it and smiled, wiping it down softly to clear all of the dust away like Dooma had said. He looked up at the woman and spoke, "You know lots about this, do you paint a lot?" he asked politely while continuing to wipe his cup.

Celi had smiled and thanked Dooma for the paper towel and followed suit of the other, wiping down her piece and such. "I'm new to this whole thing, so thank you! I would have had no idea." the woman laughed.

Pippin smiled and nodded at his mother, agreeing with her that he was new to this whole thing as he waited for Dooma's reply.

Dooma gave a nod, "When I was younger I used to go to a place like this from time to time. I am not good at painting but the best thing about stuff like this is, you can take 'mistakes' and making something beautiful." She smiled at Pippin and then to Celi.

Vali smiles brightly. "This is new to me too. I never knew Dooma would go and paint when she was little. Pippin what is your favorite color? I want to put it on my bank." having finished washing the dust away Vali started to look threw the brushes to pick the one he would use.

Celi laughed, "I was never any good with art, I sang a little when I was younger, but that's it. I always wished I could paint, but I was never very good." she smiled gently as she watched the others prepare their pieces, looking fondly at how happy her little boy seemed.

Pippin thought for a moment, placing a finger on his bottom lip as he did so before saying, "I like browns and greens. I'm kinda boring I guess." he said with a small shrug, not seeming to mind the idea, it seemed as if he had in fact accepted it. "What's yours?" he asked, now curious.

Dooma nods, "Well that is the great thing about painting cermaics. You don't need artistic talent. It is just putting paint on an object no need to try and make it perfect. Singing and me do not get a long at all." she said with a slight laugh.

Vali shook his head, "No those are great colors! I like greens too. And you look good in browns!" he gave another shark like grin his tail swaying in the chiar. "But I also like purples. I really like green and purples." he said and setting his brush down pulled on his shirt to point to the green and purple on it. "See! I think I will use both our favorite colors in my bank!"

Celi smiled, "I wasn't very good, but it was better than nothing. I suppose I could try art once more, it couldn't hurt. Maybe I've just been thinking about it the wrong way." she said with a smile. The woman's optimism always managed to shine through.

Pippin twiddled his fingers lightly, "I do?" he said with a laugh, "Well you look good with green and purple too." he complimented back, wanting the other boy to feel as special as he did. "That's fun, but brown might make it more dull than you want it." he said with a slight frown, not wanting his color to ruin the bank.

Vali beamed at the compliment, "Thank you!" he giggled and then looked at his bank and thought a moment, "Oh no it wont, I can make a bit tree with green leaves and purple flowers or maybe a layer of dirt with flowers and grass on it." he smiled as he tried to figure out what he should do. "See out colors work so good together!"

Dooma gave a nod, "Maybe you have. I think flaws in things make them more special. It is almost like the artist made the item more for one person that way. And it is those flaws that make an item more valuable. But that is just my opinion.
