Shen yawned softly, his long tail flicking out behind him, swaying about in the tall grasses. This day in particular felt to long to him, hot, muggy and insanely slow, the usually peppy buck found himself feeling drained of all his usual bouncing energy. He was nearly wishing it was night, that maybe if he slept through the rest of this day until the next he might be lucky enough to wake and find things so much brighter. Maybe even more interesting! It was a doubtful outcome of course, but Shen was never one to give up hope.
His head ducked low as he waded out through the tall grass, nose dragging just above the tips of the bright green leaves and wildflowers, golden eyes glittering as they crossed the lazy horizon. "Honestly if not one thing then its nothing...always just full of nothing" he huffed gently to himself, eyes landing on a particularly large spot of yellow daffodils and sunflowers.
Maybe he'd just gorge himself, surely that would be more fun then sleeping or wandering about through the endless field of greenery!

Melita was bouncing around the meadow as she normally did; it was a perfect part of her routine. She had no one to bother normally during the corse of the day, and so prancing through the tall thick grass was always her favorite past time as a result. The sun caught in her blotchy pelt, the golden yellows shimmering brightly with her bouncy movement she made.
Her ears stood high on her head as she stopped, looking alertly around as the bead on her neckpiece stilled with a slight ding as metal hit metal. Although the noise once caught the doe off guard, she was quite used to it now as she listening to the silence, to the occasional breeze and the soft buzz of insects that sometimes passes by. Her deep blue eyes scanned the fields as she looked for something new to quell her playful curiosity today.
She eventually came across a large blooming spot of sunflowers, her favorite food and!- favorite place to hide. Sure her blacks stood out against the soft yellows and browns of the sunflowers, but her golden yellow fit in perfectly if she stayed low enough to the ground.
Of course, this also lead her eyes to rest on that of a purple colored buck with a rather interesting purple garment, and even more interesting yellow eyes. She blinked, instantly interested in this newcomer like she was any other deer she came across; but she was going to be sneaky and stealthy like she practiced; oh yes! She ducked down and invaded the bushel of sunflowers, creeping upon the male, however not concious of the big black antlers donning the top of her head. She readied herself, then...
"Hi ya!" she said in a somewhat loud voice that easily contrasted with the surrounding environment, her expression innocent as she exploded from the enticing, seemingly harmless flowers.

"Haaa!!" Shen yelped, stumbling back and promptly tripping over himself. Landing on his rear in a splash of yellow pedals and pollen, the flowers exploding beneath his weight as the golden yellow doe leapt into view. Here he'd thought he was going to be munching on daisy's and sunflowers....and instead..it had turned into a hart...
"Uh..haa..Hi t-to you aswell?" he cocked his head to the side as he studied her, half panting half laughing as he stared like a deer in the headlights. Not even bothering to try and pick himself up off the ground just yet. After all he couldn't have looked any more silly then he already did.
Giggling slightly as he paid more attention to the doe in front of him..certainly gold like the flowers..but also with strange black markings, and a bright powder blue necklace. Rather cheery looking to. "You know, here I'd been wishing for excitement eh, and look what my wish got me! Who on earth are you by the way?" he asked with a shake of his head, grinning brightly. His downtrodden mood very much dispelled..

The golden colored doe beamed at his reaction, sending the startled buck into a surprised tumble. She giggled, the pollen and petals being sent into the air prompted her to sneeze once or twice, missing the first part of the purple's words.
She did, however catch the second part, face set in a silly innocent expression as her short little tail waved before she gave herself a good shake, only sending the petals and pollen flying into the air again before lining the ground like a fine dust. Again she turned her bright blue eyes to the other,
"M'name's Melita!" She said with her somewhat childishly cute voice, "I like to wander around here, 'Cause it's nice and sunny and there's lots of butterflies and flowers!" she giggled again, her frame lapsing into another little wiggle as she could hardly contain the excitement she had when in the presence of another individual.
"And what's your name Mr. Purple?" She said again with that hint of innocence. She swayed slightly on her four legs; back and forth, although she held the same silly expression as she awaited the others answer. Her bead chimed against her neck piece again, softly ringing into the brief silence between the two when only the breeze blew by.

Shen let out a snort of laughter, half sneezing himself as his tail flicked about him, trying to shake off most of the clinging pollen and petals. An amused look on his face as he listened to her, his smile only growing at her words..such a cute little trickster..with rather vivid eyes...
Shaking his head and grinning as he tilted his nose up "Melita the wandering sunflower is it! Well then I'll make sure to remember that..and maybe be more careful when I traipse about the flower fields eh?" he huffed gently, gathering his legs beneath himself and pushing up, shaking his head as he did so.
"My name is Shen, though Mr.Purple doesn't sound to bad either. Its a..ah, a surprising pleasure to meet you. Sometimes I'm a bit of a wanderer myself, not lately of course but on most day's I like a good bit of adventure." holding his head proudly as he spoke, his tail which seem to have a mind of its own curling about his leg.

Melita smiled again, "Mhm! I like to surprise all the deer, but they never come back after I do! So I musta surprised them good." she said with a giggle, the naivety in her words hiding the obvious fact that the deer she quote 'surprised' were no more than annoyed with her to come back, or at least when she was around, "And I'm not a sunflower silly! I'm a doe!" See, I got no petals or steams. So M'not a wanderin' sunflower." she said, taking his words a tad to seriously.
Her eyes watched as the male stood himself back up, still looking at the newcomer curiously, "Shen? Shen Shen Shen~" she mused as if getting used to saying the name. She always had problems remembering names, and saying them aloud always helped her remember them easier, "Wandering is fun! There's always lotsa new places to explore and stuff, and it's always so exciting! Always a new adventure every day."
She giggled again, spinning in a circle for no apperent reason as her poofy tail gave another little wiggle, although she watched as his much longer tail curled around his leg, something she obviously couldn't do, but was compelled to try it herself anyway, although she gave up quite quickly.
With her childish expression ready, she bit off one of the sunflower stems before holding the upper part with the flower in her mouth. She shoved it towards the purple buck's face, "Sunfeohwer?" she asked, voice muffled from holding onto the vivid colored plant.

"I'm surprised they don't come back, a surprise is good for the heart you know..or..is it bad?" he smile giving a half shrug, honestly he wasn't sure. He wasn't upset over the surprise either, it was an all to pleasant thing to have surprising people in a world full of dull and green. "Well I know that now! You blended in too well, its hardly my fault if I mistook you for food hiding within the food.." shen huffed softly, tilting his nose up. Indeed she was not a wandering sunflower..and how insanely odd that would have been if she were! Shen could just imagine it, a giant sunflower wandering about on its stems and roots, throwing seeds and leaves everywhere.
"Ah, yes shen.." he nodded softly listening to her repeat his with an amused look on his face, agreeing wholeheartedly with her statement. Wandering was indeed the most fun thing in the world, certainly the best way to meet new friends and see new places.
"Exciting indeed..quite like yourself." he nearly made himself dizzy watching her move about, a bundle of energy and excitement this one was, she seemed to be constantly moving or twitching or flicking.orr.."Say wha now?" a sun...oooh.."Oooh, you want me, can I? I mean if you dont mind then yes I'd love one" he snorted feeling rather stupid, gently taking the sunflower that was shoved into his face. Chewing on it the moment he had it, after all that was what he'd come here to do wasnt it, to eat sunflowers!
"Yer ahn strange one" he muttered between chews, nibbling in all the delicious little seeds and petals of the tasty plant.

She blinked at his comment, "I'm a strange one? And what does that mean, Shen Shen?"
She didn't really count herself strange, just, well, different! Excitingly different! Everyone else was either too stoic or no fun or something, but she was fun and stuff! At least, she thought she was fun.
And Shen! He was proving to be fun too, though. She wondered if there were more fun people out there, people she just hadn't met yet. She wanted to meet more fun people though, so they could all have fun! lots and lots of fun.
She grabbed a sunflower for herself as such thoughts buzzed back and forth in her head, nibbling on the delectable treat as she watched Shen devour his own, "Because if I'm strange, then Shen must be strange too!"

Shen forced himself not to giggle, the nickname alone was soo cute, and really he was proud to have one, even if it was simply her repeating his name twice. He very rarely made himself friends let alone fun friends who didn't mind his oddness! Though he did try to be a social butterfly as much as he could...
"You..my dear sunflower, are absolutely right. Haha if your strange then how much stranger must I be? Not just having this conversation, but well in everything!" he grinned broadly, giving a toss of his head. "Gah, maybe I should re-state that, neither of us are strange, the rest of the world is simply so abnormal that we appear to be odd. Except that you appear to be odd and made of food. Not a soul would ever mistake me for something edible I promise you that."
His grin could only grow as he watched her munch away, his boredom quite resolved, replaced with a rather nice warm fuzzy feeling. Happyness for sure.."You know, I used to have a friend, and we would go and take runs up to the rocks near the lake. And once we'd made it there, we wouldclimb up and leap! Would you possibly be interested in taking a swim?"

"Yes! Everyone else must be weird!" she agreed, "After all- Hey, it's not my fault I look like a sunflower!" she huffed as her tail wiggled. Besides, she looked much more like a bumblebee, well, she'd never seen one so she wouldn't know, but her guardian told her lots about them.
Of course, her thoughts were scattered when Shen suggested a swim. Swimming... She'd never swam before! Her legs were so clumsy though, what if she were to trip while swimming? was that possible? She didn't want her bumbling to get in the way of her swimming!
But still, the thought was appealing, "A swim sounds fun!" She nodded, finishing her sunflower and all of its delicious sunflower-ness.

Shen tilted his head and smirked slyly, watching her face light up at the mention of being a 'sunflower'. She was absolutely all too adorable. "No of course its not your fault, but it is your fault that I mistake you when you go hiding in them, maybe if you hid in the grass..or in something blue..you'd look less sunflowerish." Shen teased lightly, ears perking and grin widening when she sounded up for it, extreemly enthusiastic this one!
"Hah! Perfect then! I do truly love the water you know that? Being a delta hind and all I suppose its in my blood..though if you asked me what I loved the most, I'd say it was the desert. Endless dunes of sand and harsh hot winds, gorgeous oasis and fields of sun..absolutely amazing!" he sighed thoughtfully, turning from mel, tail swishing with glee as he started off.
"Come along then! I'll show you where it is, we can race to the top and jump in, it'll be an adventure of sorts!" He didn't know if the hind could swim, but she seemed like she could do just about anything she set her mind to. He'd never met someone so optimistic and energetic before/

She smiled widely as she trotted after the purple hart, listening to what he had to say, -particularly about how if could of possibly been her fault for looking like a flower among sunflowers, but she bit no reply to this-, and to his talk of the wonders of the desert.
"Well if you love the water, how come you love the desert if it's so hot?" she couldn't understand his reasoning; loving two things that seemed to be the complete opposites! Well, she supposed they weren't exact opposites, but water was rare in the desert, right?
Of course, then he mentioned the racing and she felt her heart flutter; she loved running and racing and all sorts of stuff like that! Even if her legs betrayed her and led her to a rather short lived tumbling demise; running was the best thing in the world! The feeling of the wind in your pelt and the way her antlers gave a slight resistance against the breeze, but at the same time how they cut through the air and how that would whirl past her ears with that loud whistle sound! She loved it!
"Sounds like even more fun!" she said excitedly, her pace begining to pick up as she tried her very best not to tumble.

"Well I was raised in water, and so to see the desert was such an amazing change!" He nodded sharply, grinning as he watched her pick up the pace, glad to see her enjoying herself a bit. "In the desert there's hardly any water, its a rarity, the most beautiful thing ever..It makes you realize just how precious something like water is. Plus the sunsets are absolutely amazing!" His tail swishing happily with the memory of it all.
"Oho, even more fun? So you enjoy running!" shen was surprised, melita didn't quite seem the type who would enjoy racing. It was his second favorite thing to do besides swimming.."Well then what are you waiting for, lets move" Shen cheered happily, dainty hooves digging into the dirt as he strove to move faster. Wanting to see just what the little sunflower could do.

Melita nodded as she willed her flimsy legs to move her faster along the land, the little bead on her neck piece hitting the metal with each bound making a slightly loud ding.
"Oh, well, that's true." she agreed with his reasoning, "I bet the sunsets would be pretty! I mean, they're pretty out here, but I've never seen a sunset in the desert. Against all that sand, it must be-" although she never got to finish her sentence as her hoof caught a rock, sending her into a stumble, however she catches herself so all it does is merely slow her down.
But, she catches up fairly quickly, still striving to run faster, wanting to see this destination.

"Melita!" Glancing back with concern as the doe stumbled, his worries apparently unnecessary, the slight stumble only slowing her pace slightly and leaving his darling sunflower moving quick to catch up and even gain a bit of ground on him! "Haha! They're amazing! I'll take you some day, I bet you'll blend in with the sands and I'll loose you, but I'll take you to see it!" Shen laughed, impressed, enjoying himself, the adrenalin rush and the feel of the wind, the earth moving beneath your hooves.
"You see it! The lake, whatever you do don't stop, keep going till you hit the water. Its an absolute rush!" Shen cheered, a true rush indeed, when hot blooded bodies met a chilly cold lake running as fast as they could, certainly nothing compared to the shock of it all.
A large placid blue spot appearing before them, growing closer and larger with every beat, the lake completely flat with outcroppings of high rocks along some of the edges. Looking like a smooth pool of glass...one that was quickly going to find itself shattered..
