Peca having paced back and forth for quite awhile, settled beneath a tree to watch the world go around her. It was fun to watch.
Uxe was off on his own now, away from his parents. ready to start a new life somewhere else, away from his laughing siblings and the happiness his family shared. He hated it. Course he had never had a happy bone in his body since he was born... he was such a downer. Thats what his siblings had said. It was normal to him.
It was perfectly and absolutely normal to not smile or laugh or even talk. He found life so much better without emoitions.

As Peca lounged and watch the world she spoted something gray moving across the horizion. She paused and studied it. It was clearly not a wild dog or a hyena, in fact it must be a feline. Peca watched as the feline moved closer to her wondering if he knew that she was there, wondering if he was friendly or a creature she should fear. Having lived in the desert on her own before she had met both types of creatures.
The white hyena moved slowly into a sitting position, reading herself for an encounter, and encounter she hoped would be pleasant. Peca prided herself on her chipper attitude and ability to make friends.
Well there was no guarantee that this would be a pleasant meeting but by far would not be threatening. Uxe was tired from traveling and wasn't in the mood for a fight or confrontation of any kind. He normally would, don't get him wrong, but he didn't want to waste his precious energy on something not worth the effort. He certainly couldn't eat a hyena.
Well, okay he probably could but that was beyond the point really. He disliked the taste of predatory animals... just saying. He spotted the white hyena not far from him and contemplated just putting on a show of being bigger and stronger but.... he did have a question... perhaps he'd not be big and scary. "What are these lands?"

Peca frowned unhappy that the lion who had approached her didn't do it with a smile or a greeting but instead a demand. She had a feeling this encounter was not going to be the best. "Well these lands that we are currently on are rouge, no one owns them but not far from here are the Amani'kikundi Lands" she said with a I mean business tone to her voice.
"My name is Peca" she told the lion hoping that maybe giving her name would break the ice."
Uxe blinked for a moment. Obviously his mood wasn't really that appealing to the hyena and he didn't blame her. He wasn't the nicest thing to look upon or talk too, he could admit his faults easily. He sniffed. Rouge lands. No one owned them. He was supposed to find a place to call a home... with a ruler or king. "Hmm. Rouge lands..." He said thoughtfully, his red eyes gazing off in the distance. Her name surprised him-he wasn't expecting her to introduce herself.
He supposed the best thing would be to reprehend with his own. "I am Uxe. Sorry about being snippy... I have been traveling for a while... I'm tired." He said, wanting to make an excuse for his attitude. He in reality, was always like this but... she may be able to give him more information. Had to keep a good tone to himself.

Peca smiled the lion's attitude had changed enough to make her feel a little more at easy, she even sat down. "That is understandable Uxe, I use to be a traveller myself, its a hard life." she offered him a nod, hoping that perhaps she could turn this into a positive conversation after all.
"Are you travelling to somewhere in particular?" she asked, she found that many creatures who moved about where looking for something or at least she had been looking for something when she was travelling the rouge lands.
Uxe sat down and shifted slightly. He hadn't ever recalled talking to a hyena before... in fact he only spoke to lions really. Strange. He stopped a moment to take in what a hyena really looked like. Rounded back. Hm. Sharp teeth. He was rather impressed with their muscles as well. "It's hard...but not bad... better than some places." He said, recalling being surrounded by laughing, giggling, wiggling swarms of siblings.
"Not really. Just looking for a future home. Not sure what a want but I am sure it will speak to me when I find it." He said with a shrug. "Lived in the pridelands my whole life and it isn't for me."

"Pridelands?" Peca wasn't sure where that was, but she was sure it was another pride, she had heard many others speak of their own homes, their prides or packs. It was really amazing the number of 'homes' that were in exisitance for various creautres. "I am sure that you will find a home the fits you, there is so many prides from my understanding of the world." she said trying to be helpful. "Sadly I can not offer my home as one to you as it is meant only for dogs."
"How long have you been travelling?" she asked, she was curious about the way others travelled, it was a way she use to live before here, it was an experience she was glad that she had but she loved her new home.
Uxe nodded simply to her offer. He probably wouldn't have joined it even if he could... but the offer was generous enough. "That is alright. I am still searching. I heard of many many prides to chose from and will search until I find one suitable." He said. His patterned tail twitched at he end.
"For a while now. Seems like I just keep traveling... I think it's been since my adolescence. Old enough to be on my own at least..." He said simply.

Peca nodded, she was fairly impressed with is attitude towards finding a new pride, some may have gotten very frustrated by the lack of a fit when they travelled so far. "I do hope that you find a home soon, eveyone needs a home in my opinion." she told the lion.
"I take it that you are travelling all on your own then." she said in reference to his comment about travelling since he was old enough to be on his own. "No siblings or anything with you?"
Uxe nodded. "Me too. I hope that I can find somewhere I belong..." He said, blinking his red eyes. "Something about sounding like a place I belong and can feel at home..." He sat back and thought for a moment. "Perhaps a place to settle down with a mate..." Here he was getting all sentimental with a hyena. A mate. HIM? BAH? What was he thinking.
"Yes. My siblings mostly stay with my parents... as old as they are... Just me" He said. Thank the gods. He'd have to kill his siblings if they had followed him.

"I found my home and right after my mate." she told him. "Its amazing how quickly and easily one can find their home, and have everything fall into place." For Peca it had happened so fast that she had barely been able to keep up with it and felt dizzy at times trying.
"Now not only do I have a mate and a home, but pups that I call my own." she phrased the sentence the way she did because the pups weren't hers in actuallity but she would always treat them as if they were. She hoped dearly that the lion wouldn't ask to many questions about her family situation she really didn't want to go into it, so many didn't understand it.
"Speaking of my pups I probably should be getting back to them soon." she said with a smile, she had enjoyed the meeting with the lion thus far and thought that she should probably draw it to a close before things could go badly.
Uxe nodded. A mother she was then. He himself had never had cubs with anyone yet and he really didn't think he would find a mate but... who knew. He nodded. "Yes... I don't want them to suffer because of me. " He said, a small smile crawling across his face.
A SMILE HOLY CRAP.
He nodded his head. "I should be off. I have a home to find..." He said looking to her. "It was nice to meet you Peca. Thanks for the help."

Peca gave the lion one last nod as she turned and headed back towards her home, her family and her babes. She was happy that she had been able to make the meeting between them pleasent as she was worried that it was going to be negative based on the lions approach. She gave credit to her personality, everyone had a soft side to them, some just needed help bringing it out.
Uxe turned from her and headed off into the distance, his head held rather high. It wasn't very often he was pleasant with anyone and this was a rare event. But he was content with her words, it was true... he would find a home that was meant for him.
So off he want, into the distance until he was no longer in sight.
