She sat on the bedside staring out the window as the taxi drove away with a promise that he would return. Once the lights were gone down the street she turned to eye the small pile of clothing she was given. Its a good thing Z and Beth were around the same height and built... though she still dwarfed him slightly.
Tonight's events still ran in her mind like a never ending story. She was not crying now- but her eyes still were red and evident that she had been crying recently. She felt better being in her cousins home- yes for some reason even the masses of panda's she was currently surrounded by seemed to comfort her. It seemed unnatural and strange now that she had a chance to think about things. It almost felt like she was at a slumber party while her mother was safe at home- a home that did not just burn to the ground earlier this day.
Sighing she pushed those thoughts from her mind- they would just make her cry again. She picked up the clothing and went to shower.
Some time later she emerged- now in Z's borrowed clothing. She held her arms out as the tshirt dragged around a little- reaching just past her hips. Huh- she was shorter than her cousin. Or maybe this was boy fashion.
Slipping out of the room she meandered down stairs and curled up on a old looking couch. His house was so bare compared to hers... She dozed off slightly while she waited.

He closed and locked the door behind him, head resting against the cool wood of the door with the start of a headache beating behind his eyes with every thump of his heart. Frustration, anxiety, concern... guilt.
The click of the lock was almost wistful... wishing he could lock outside all the concerns he'd built up today.
"Beth?" he called quietly and started his search to find where she had alighted in his house, looking for a light or pausing to hear her, finding her at last on the couch and exhaling slightly with relief to see her sleeping. He fished a throw out from a battered old wicker basket and carefully started to drape it over her to make sure she was warm enough.

Inside her dream world it was a nightmare. Fire burned and items crumbled- the earth shook and split apart. Her mother stood on the end of the cliffs- looking around as Beth was charging towards her. The look on her face was morbid- almost grim... all knowing. She scowled at her daughter jsut before the ground around her tumbled and took her mom with her. Beth had reached the platform a second too late. The earth started to crumble and shake around her right before she was jolted awake.
The even gentle touch that Z had used to put the blanket on her caused her to jump awake. Her eyes flew open and out of reaction she grabbed hold of his wrists roughly. "Dont leave me mom!" She cried. After glancing for another moment she blinked a few times before she came to her senses. Shaking her head the muttered a apology and let go.

Zac's reactions were not nearly fast enough to save him from her slightly painful grip on his wrists. He acted rather like a cat who's been grasped by the scruff of its neck, tensing like he was waiting to be struck by something from behind.
"...A...ah... are, you alright?" He asked and felt foolish for doing so as soon as the words slipped free.
"Baddream?" he added in a rush as he glanced her over again as though wondering what she might do next as she let go.
"Its ok..." He assured though he relaxed visibly when he was released. That at least, hadn't changed since he was little, or if it had it had perhaps gotten a little worse than it once was.

"Yeah- sorry.." Recently her bad dreams seemed to be getting worse- but that dream had to have been the worst one yet... It seemed so real, and why had her mother seemed so angry? Was it her fault?
Scooting to the corner of the couch she dragged the blanket with her. She patted the seat right next to her. "Sit." She said- not meaning to bark a command but it probably seemed that way.
"Hows Demy doing?" She asked curiously- she hasn't seen Demy in a while.

"...Um..."
He said and paused before sitting down very carefully on the edge of the couch and rubbed his arm.
"Umm....Alex is... taking him to the hospital, some... jerks gutter stomped him... and, he was still getting over the broken ribs so, I kinda -made- him go. He wasn't really happy."
ok so that was -completely- skimming how bad it looked. And utterly dodging that there were burns involved because god only knew he wanted NO chance of their being a connection between Demy and her house.
"I don't... I mean... it's just a precaution, but he was pretty bummed when I told him about your house. Uh... I hope that was ok. He... he wanted to go see if he could salvage anything for you but... I said Hospital."

Her blood ran cold- gutter stomped? Demy was lucky if all that happened to him was physical. Yes it still sucked that he was injured- but at least he was not injured by the soul stealing variety. That was enough to make her feel better. She didn't think she could handle someone else dying tonight.
"I'm SO sorry i hope he is ok. I'll need to visit him- he likes flowers right? I saw some really neat fake flowers that glow..." She remembered when the first time they met they had a contest for glow in the dark items. "Today seems to be a horrible night for everyone."
"I don't mind you telling him- he is a friend afterall." She made a mental note to tell her team as well... they should know too. "I'm glad you made him go to the hospital- my house can wait he needs to heal." Not that she didn't appreciate the thought. "Thank you Zac- it must have been hard to leave him. We can go visit him tomorrow?"

Zac scrubbed at his face with his palms like he was trying to rub away something unseen, there was still conflict in his eyes and he could do little to hide it.
"He's a little upset I didn't just stay in the room with him, I think we fought..." He admitted. Something he wouldn't tell 'just anyone'...
"But I wanted to be here for you... I didn't do the wrong thing...did I?"
It was probably selfish to ask her such a thing, no he was sure it was. But he needed to know he hadn't been a fool to make Demy go to the hospital, not to have stayed with him... anything after the 'don't deserves' and the wounded looks and fake smiles that made him want to break promises just to satisfy Demy.
It was -not- supposed to work that way, he shouldn't want to cave to the demands of others. frowned and pushed it away to look at her again with concern.
"Sorry... never mind, did you get something to eat?"

The hurt in his voice made her pause for a moment and with the addition of the question, caused her to think. She felt bad- she truly did. If Z had called her and said he was staying with demy... part of her would have hurt. Though part of her also would understand. She felt for a while there was a stronger bond between the two than they let on.
"The selfish part of me says no. I dont know what i would do if you didn't come back... i would have been hurt." She hated admitting this- but if he had not come home she would have left in senshi garb and gone searching for him. She would have assumed Scheelite had found Z- like he found her mother. It hurt just to think of this. Yes... she would protect him. She had to.
"At the same time though... i would have understood." Zac should know this is how she was- Beth always put others before herself.
"Sorry... never mind, did you get something to eat?"
"Pff.. ahhaaha." She couldn't suppress the giggles that came out of no where at such a simple question. "Im still alive aren't I?" She continued to giggle a little. No... she hadn't eaten anything. She would probably level ZACS house if she tried to cook.

he put an arm over her shoulders and gave her a half hug.
"we can both visit him later... N...no offense to Dem but, your kind of top priority tonight." He said and then stood and offered a hand.
"Home cooking or take out..." He offered. "I swear you'll live through both options"

"You must have gotten all the culinary talent in this family." She mused- smile still on her face as she took the arm and stood up.
Only to cringe and clutch her own chest. Her ribs were bruised a little- thankfully they did not break again. Staying still for a long while made her body lock up. "sorry sorry... Still sore." she grumbled. How she hated being injured.
"Depends on if your wanting to cook or willing to wait. I do not mind either." She was not really hungry- but she accepted out of courtesy. Putting on her best smile she pretended like her ribs were not bruised again- and walked in the direction that Z was taking her.
"I just wonder who could have done this... and why." She was trying to play a little more on the 'i had no role in the fire' ploy.

He gave a small half hearted laugh. "I'll cook, maybe by the time its done you'll... look a little more interested?" he teased. Though he was glad that the stove was electric, not gas like Beth's family had.
He glanced at her, trying to keep nerves out of his face when she wondered out loud about that.
"I don't know... did you...see anything at all?" He asked carefully.

"Hey as long as it doesnt kill me.." She grinned back.
"Maybe i left something in the kitchen on last time mom tried to teach me to cook.... maybe it was my fault." She stared into the kitchen- twitching a little with the memories.
Her eyes flashed in the light as she spun a little more of her story- hiding details rather left forgotten. "No i... All i remember is coming into the house and smelling something burning. Things were tossed everywhere. I ran into the kitchen to find my mother on the floor. She was cold... no pulse. The flames started to shoot up so i ran out the front door out of instinct."
She settled down into one of the chairs near the kitchen still deep in thought. "Though... come to think of it. I didn't think much of it at the time- but i thought i heard the back door open."

If the senshi had been there, dragging Dem out...he tried to fit the pieces together in his mind and found it jumbled still. Frustrating, more so because there was no way for him to directly ask if she had seen either senshi or negaverse lieutenant at the house.
He fished through the cupboards and fished out a few things he remembered that she liked and set them out on the counter before fishing out the mixing bowls.
"I suppose, with the fire going it will be hard to tell if anything was stolen..." he mused aloud for her benefit.

"I couldn't tell everything happened so fast. If something was stolen i wouldn't know."
She turned to watch after a bit- curious to see what he was making. She never was good at this whole...cooking thing. Hell she even failed at boiling water.
"Though..." She said after a little bit of time. "I have to admit something. That photo album i have? I found it on the side of the road a few blocks down. I thought the blast put it there but now im not so sure. Nothing else flew that far off."
