It was a breezy spring morning, and Fleurite couldn't help but smile at how alive the forest was despite the fact that the sun had only rose an hour ago. She had always been an early riser, and today was no exception; waking up just as the sun was peeking out from behind the mountains, the young mare had sneaked away from the rest of her family just to watch it rise slowly through the sky, turning night into light. Humming softly to herself as she trotted through the undergrowth, giggling as butterflies fluttered past her and rabbits stare curiously at her from a distance; it was great to be alive and living in the forest... She would not trade anything for this! Well, she would love to visit other places, but her home will always be the forest.
The mare ducked under a low branch as she continued on her way, determined to reach the river before her stomach starts growling for food; being an early riser was good and all, but it also meant that she would have to take breakfast alone since the rest of her herd would be fast asleep... She rather enjoyed the peace and quiet, but it gets a little... Boring and lonely sometimes. Perhaps it would be nice to have breakfast with the rest someday!
Cult shuddered lightly when another cool spring breeze hit her side, Sending a chill down her spine that woke her up from her half dazed state. It had been a few weeks since Cult had found the strange lands of Kawani. It was peaceful and quiet for the most part something that Cult was learning to love even more then the busy life of a nomad. True she hadn't met many yet but the few that she did bump into always seemed to be kind hearted. But even if she didn't know anyone or couldn't remember ever being here before Cult couldn't shake off the feeling that she'd been here before at every turn she toke. It was like a big mystery that she was dying to solve!
This was the reason why she'd come down from her new home in the foothills of the mountains and was in the forest right now. She was looking for anyone that could maybe help her figure it out. And well maybe also get a bite to eat. Her ears flicked at the sounds of animals waking up and running off to hunt for food and take care of their nests. Some of them running through her legs as a shortcut to pass her by, Making Cult giggle as they tickled her legs.
The sound of rushing water was what Cult speed up, Water meant yummy river roots to munch on. The thought of such a tasty and rare treat put a gleeful smile on her face as her mouth watered. It was just behind a large bush! A large bush that seemed to be...Moving? Thats when she realized that those "Large bushes" was really another mare walking. Cult stopped her walking at once, But unlike what she had planned Cult kept going. Sliding in the slippery mud with no stop in sight Cult had to fan out her large wings to balance herself and to use as a wind breaker, Slowing her down till she came to a stop right besides the mare. Blushing under her dark coat she nervously smiled. "Sorry! I didn't hit you did I?"
The sound of running water became louder with every step, and in her hurry to reach her destination, the mare did not hear the hoof steps of another just behind her... Until it was too late. She froze at the sound and turned around towards its source; to her surprise, there was something headed towards her at a great speed- Her instinct kicked in and she bolted forward with a whinny, not knowing what else to do. Her own wings were much too small to escape by flight, so she could only run. As she did, she turned her head to check if the "pursuer" was still hot on her heels; when she realized that it was just behind her, however, she squeezed her eyes shut as her body tensed up in both shock and fright.
After what seemed like an eternity, but what was probably only a few seconds, Fleurite heard a female's voice asking her a question. Slowly, she opened one eye before both eyes snapped open, wide with surprise; her gaze travelled down the stranger's body to where her wings were - large and grey... Suddenly, it all made sense to her! Fleurite blushed as she shook her head in response to the other mare's question. She was still in shock, but at least she knows for sure that she was not under attack.
It was all just a silly misunderstanding!
Cult felt horrible. She really didn't mean to spook the tiny mare! The whole thing was just a big misunderstanding, Truly it was. She wasn't looking to hurt her in the least bit. A sigh of relief passed through her when she heard that she didn't hit the fluttercorn, Her guilt level going down. She folded back her wings to her sides. She simply couldn't have her wings open in this forest for two reasons, This forest too dense for her to have her wings open without hurting herself (It was by the grace of the spirits she didn't hurt one why trying to slow down!), But also having them open only made the already large mare look bigger. Which could easily scare other skittish people, And who knew this fluttercorn could very well be one of those kinds of people!
She toke a few small steps to what looked like a fairly young mare. Gazing over her she was amazed! This girl looked like a part of nature! Her very curly hair could have been ivory not yet in bloom, Her body was the color of a tree and was as graceful as one. The only thing that made her stand out from the forest backround was that long sharp horn coming out of her forehead that was one of the lightest baby blues she'd ever seen, Her hooves were also this same color. And there were tiny wings fluttering on her back. They looked almost like stain glass windows with there bright colors. Cult was afraid to even touch them because they looked like they could break at the slightest move. Truly she was beautiful there was no doubt about it.
With a soft smile on her face Cult toke a few more steps closer to the mare. "What is your name little one?" She asked, Her head titled slightly to one side.
Fleurite nodded again, trying to find her voice; due to the shock from the incident, she felt too shaken to talk properly. As she tried to regain her composure, she couldn't help but feel dwarved by the larger wind mare. Although the stranger proved to be nice and harmless and wasn't frightening her anymore, her nerves were not calmed just yet... Taking a deep breath, she turned her body to face the stranger, offering a small smile. When the mare tried to get closer, she realized that she didn't flinch or feel uncomfortable - that was a good start! She smiled again, this time more naturally as her blush deepened. She then answered, her voice shaky but clear, "Fleurite, but most just call me Fleur... Um, what is your name?"
Upon closer inspection, she realized that it was not just her that was smaller; this mare was bigger than the average Soquili! She has a larger built than most of the Soquilis she had seen... Interesting! Are all wind soquili this big? Fleurite couldn't help but add as an after-thought, "Are all wind mares this big? Sor-Sorry if this is sudden but I've never met another..." She blushed again, shifting her hoofs nervously.
Cult felt completely awkward why the smaller mare got her composure. She shifted her weight from foot to foot as she waited silently. It wasn't long before the mare turned herself towards Cult and smiled. Well at least she wasn't running away in fear anymore! That was a good sign. She nodded her head when the tiny fluttercorn spoke up for the first time. Cult noticed that her voice was soft and sweet, It matched her body perfectly. "Fluerite is a lovely name. My name is Cult, Most just call me Cult."
It wasn't a huge shock to Cult when she asked about her size. A lot of people did, Even more so if they were of the younger age group. She smiled and shook her head softly. "Nah. I'm just different. Don't worry about asking questions! Everyone is curious sometimes."
Fleurite's smile widened at the introduction; Cult's name matched her disposition as well as built... She had always wondered if names played a part in making a Soquili who he or she is; if it did, perhaps names are more important than just being one's identity! The young mare blushed again, realizing that she had been spacing out - turning her attention back to the mare, she giggled, "Everyone's special in their own way... So... Where are you from?" She tilted her head slightly, curious about her new friend and where she came from... Who knows? Perhaps Cult might have plenty of stories to share!
"I was on my way to the river," The female gestured to where the sound of running water was coming from, a small smile on her lips, "Would... Would you care to join me for a drink and breakfast?" Her stomach let out a low rumble just as she fisnihed talking, as if hurrying Cult to make a decision.
"That is very true. Look at you! You look more like a painting then real." Cult paused before looking down on the ground. Oh how could she answer that? She didn't even know where she was from! "Um. I guess I'm from the mountains. It's where I live now." She sighed heavily before picking her head back up. "To be quite honest I don't think I can count as being from somewhere. Cept maybe the sky."
Her dark ears flicked up at the sound of water. Oh yeah thats right! She was heading down to get something to eat. Cult cracked another smile and nodded her head. "Well since I was going down there anyways when I bumped into you! Sure I'll gladly go." She let out a laugh when Fluer's stomach gave a growl out of hunger. "Looks like you got a monster right there" As she talked she lifted one of her wings from her side and gently poked Fleur's belly with the tip of her feathers. "C'mon lets go before you start eating me!"
"Th-Thank you," Fleurite blushed, shifting her hoofs about, feeling embarrassed. However, at Cult's comment, she looked rather surprised; pausing, she then smiled, "If you traveled in the past, the world is your home... But since you live here now, welcome to Kawani! I'm sure if your heart wants to seek something... You'll eventually find it." The female nodded, tossing her head to get her mane out of her eyes before she laughed along with Cult.
"A hungry monster, to be precise!" She grinned, the blush still visible despite her dark pelt. She giggled again at the poke; Cult might be big, but her touch felt so gentle... Fleurite beamed, "Well, I think I'll rather eat some clovers!" When she finished speaking, the fluttercorn continued trotting towards the river, gesturing for her new friend to follow.
Cult giggled again at Fleur. She was so embarrassed all the time! It was just too cute. Cult stopped her giggles when Fleur starting speaking again. And with a little thought she realized that yeah, She was right the world was her home. "Thank you. I'm sure glad I landed in these lands. Have you lived in these lands a long time?"
"I can hear that!" Cult herself cracked a half smile at the giggle. She lifted her wing off of the tiny mare's side and folded it neatly back into her own side. "Clovers are nice, But water lilies and roots are the best in my books." She stated as she starting following the fluttercorn.
It was not a long walk at all to the river seeing how they were almost there in the first place when they met up. Cult dipped one of her hooves into the water to test it's temperature. Cold like normal but eh she was made of fur and body fat so she could handle it. She shuddered as she trotted into the cold clear water. Cult lifted up her wings to the sky trying to keep them from getting too wet. There was simply no way she would let herself be left so helpless that she couldn't fly away because her feathers were wet, Nope! She'd learned her lesson on that moons ago when she was a foal.
Cult looked over her shoulder and smiled at the fluttercorn who was standing over on the banks of the powerful river eating the clovers that grew like weeds all over. She wanted to show her new friend a treat that to her were better then any clover around. A huge gulp of air filled her lungs before Cult shoved her head under the water. It felt horrible! The water rushed in her ears making it hard to hear anything, But still no matter what her body wanted to do Cult kept her head down and started feeling around for the roots that she knew were there. When she did find a batch Cult quickly bit down on a thick root before pulling hard why she lifted her head out of the water. The whole knot of them came out with the large one. A smile broke out on her face as she trotted happily back to shore.
Fleurite shook her head at the question, but quickly paused, as if she had just thought of something, before nodding instead, "I've lived here my whole life, but that's not really that long a time!" She giggled as she continued, "Its only been a few months since I came out of my basket, but yes... It does seem to me like its been a long time!" Fleurite nodded, as if agreeing with herself; the weather would soon become colder as what her mother had described as autumn will replace spring.
"Water lilies and roots?" She looked up, curiosity lacing her voice as she smiled. However, her attention soon diverted as the river came into view; picking up pace, she eagerly approached it, bending down to take a quick drink before letting out a contented sigh. She then giggled as Cult went into the water, knowing that she was probably on the search for those water lilies and roots that she was talking about a while ago. She turned, heading towards where they came from and began sniffing around for clovers; it was not that she doubted her new friend's taste. but she was used to starting the day with some fresh clovers!
At the sound of water splashing followed by hoofsteps, the young mare couldn't help but look up from her search. Upon spotting the... Stuff in Cult's mouth, Fleurite blinked, trotting over curiously, "What's... What's that?"

Cult smirked has she set down her large root on the ground. "That my little fluttercorn is a water root! You can try some if you like?" She said all of this before bending her head down and started nibbling on the large root, If Fleur wanted some then she'll have some if not then eh thats was okay with Cult too. Her eyes closed as she smiled at the taste it tasted soo good! So worth the work finding it. She nibbled on it till she could handle the empty feeling in her stomach. Then she lifted her head up and looked at her new friend who why Cult was feeding herself went and found some clovers a few feet away. She smiled slightly before heading back to the river. She dipped her head down again and gulped up a hearty amount of water before lifting up her head. Nothing like a good drink after a tasty meal!
She turned her focus back to Fleur as she ate. "So you told me earlier that you popped out of your basket a few months ago. That surprises me, You don't act like most young adults." She shook the water out of her mane before continuing. "Not that you act old. But you seem more mature then most youngsters."

"Water root," Fleurite echoed before giving a smile; she had never tried to look beneath the water for food before! It was a rather exciting discovery for the young mare as she approached the strange looking plant. She stared at it for a few seconds before turning to look at Cult; she looked contented from eating it, Fleurite observed, so it must taste good right? She lowered her head and opened her mouth, but could not help pausing a millimeter away from the water root, still doubtful about its taste, before finally biting a decent-sized chunk from it.
As she chewed, Fleurite closed her eyes, expecting the worse; however, the taste of the water root was refreshing and... Well, quite delightful! Surprised, her eyes snapped open and she nodded at the other mare, "You're right... This is good!" Swallowing, she grinned happily at Cult - today, she not only found a new friend, but a new food she never knew existed as well!
"Yes, I came out just as winter was transitioning to spring," Fleurite nodded with a blush at Cult's comment, before shifting about, a little embarrassed, "I've always been like this... Is... Is it a bad thing?"

With a mouth full of water root still in her mouth Cult simply nodded in agreement before pushing the plant with her nose closer to Fleur. Cult watched with interest as the fluttercorn took her first bite from the large root. She swallowed as a smile broke out on her face. "See? I told ya it was good!" She was glad that the fluttercorn didn't simply spit out the water root. Some people had done that when she showed them it, It was...A thing only a special few liked.
"Mmm. Thats a nice time to come out of your basket. Then you don't have to wait long for the bloom of spring to come." Cults eyes widened at her question as she quickly. "Oh no! It's not a bad thing! In fact it's nice to meet a more mature young person these days. Most act like babbling idiots, Even more so with the males." Cult smiled softly before walking up next to the tiny little fluttercorn. It was no shock that the large wind mare who towered over males was like a giant next to the fluttercorn. Carefully, And gently Cult nudged the top of her head. It was her way of doing a head pat that she'd seen humans do when they wanted to assure someone. Then she backed up a few feet from the fluttercorn. "So many pretty young things like you all worry only about stallions and making sure they look good for them. Like I said before it's nice to see a more mature mare whos mind hasn't been token over by such small things like that." (Sorry for this short post. My friends are coming over so I had to rush this.)

{It doesn't matter! x3}
"Its just that... It didn't look as appetizing as fruits or clovers," Fleurite blushed as she giggled, shaking her head before giving a small smile, "I guess you really can't judge something - or someone - by appearances alone!" She knew that, but time and time again, she had fallen prey to being a judge of physical appearances, including this time.
"Yes, that's what I think too," The young mare nodded in agreement; if she were to have foals next time, she would try to bring them out in spring! From what she had learned about the four different seasons, spring is the one to bring not only food, but pleasant temperatures and weather as well. She blinked as Cult spoke and bopped her gently on the head, her face reddening with every word. By the time Cult had finished speaking, Fleurite's blush was visible even under her dark pelt - she was feeling quite embarrassed.
"Oh, um... Um, thank you," She returned the larger mare's smile as she looked up at her, "I'm glad that you think so... But I haven't met that many stallions."

"Mmm. That it doesn't. But I guess some of the best things come in the most shocking places!" Cult nodded her head at Fleur's words. It was quite true. You couldn't judge simply on physical appearances, This rule also went well with races. Cept skin walkers they were pure evil. But Cult had run into a few nice kalonas in her time. "No you very well can't. If you open your mind you're allowing yourself to be amazed by the crazy world out there."
Cult nodded in agreement back. "Yeah. I would try my hardest to give my foals the best. But..Heh. I guess they come whenever they feel like it, Eh?" She had lived through many passing seasons. She'd learned what was the most fruitful, And what was the most dead season quickly. In fact when she was a foal the only reason she lived so long was because she was born in summer. Where plants were fully grown and ready to be eaten! Cult's large chest let out a laugh at the blushing fluttercorn. Ah what it was like to be that young and bashful again."You haven't? Ah. Well Missy I know you're gonna meet a lot of stallions in your lifetime. And they will being tripping over their feet to win your heart. But remember hun, Find the right one first."

"I-I'll like that very much, to be amazed," She giggled softly before smiling at Cult; there was so much to see and experience! At the Wind's next comment, Fleurite giggled again as she nodded, "That's true... I've only been through Spring, but I hope I enjoy the other seasons just as much!"
She blushed and shook her head quickly, however, when the subject turned back to boys; she had not looked at them as anything more than potential playmates... And even when she meets a stallion her age now, she would still look to them as a potential friend. Of course, if they are of another breed, they might even be a potential Soquili to study! She frowned slightly as she shifted about, embarrassed. Was that going to change?
"Oh-oh! But of course!" She blushed again, as she looked away; her body was reserved only for that special someone, the father of her future children, and nobody else... She looked back up at Cult, and realized that the sun was already high in the sky; had she been out for that long already?
"It's late, so I have to go," She explained, looking a little upset, "My herd would be worried otherwise... I hope that I'll get to see you again... Today was great!" She nuzzled the other mare's shoulder gently, beaming at her before turning and quickly trotting away, hoping that they'll meet again soon.
{And ended! Thanks again, Poll. <3}
