The Black Dawn is an obscure but known legend throughout the inner reaches of the Milky Way. This medium sized spaceship with a jet black hull glides gracefully through space, sticking mostly to the outer regions of the galaxy unless given a reason not to.
In the outer regions the ship is well known and met with a mixture of respect and fear. Its captain, Captain Feroca, is a legend but even those in the outer regions have no idea what the captain actually looks like. All they know is the ship. There are probably contacts in various outlaw ports that do know who the captain is but they are fearsome enough that no one would dare try to pry the secret from their lips. All people know is that to see the Black Dawn and not be flying the colours of a Pirate is to invite attack and destruction from the fearsome vessel and it's hardened crew. Woe betides any fool that initiates conflict with the Black Dawn.
Recently a legend has surfaced about a lost treasureship adrift in the void between galaxies. This void is whispered with fear, legends of ghost ships, merciless aliens and far more otherworldly things that haunt the darkness between the wholesome light of the stars. Sensing a chance to cement the legend of their ship forever and make enough money to retire, Captain Feroca has decided to set a course for this void. The crew know well the legends of the area they are entering but they are willing to risk it for the legends are there is enough treasure on the ship to by an entire galactic sector. If this is true then even a cut amongst the crew would still be enough to buy an entire planet!

Early Galactic History
The history of the Milky Way is stained with blood. When humanity first began to colonise the stars, they did so in peace. Their technology grew and their relationship with the other races was largely friendly. In the year four thousand humanity's technology was almost god-like in proportions and their empire stretched from the solar system to almost every corner of the Milky Way, including many allied alien races. Unfortunately during that year some factions began to desire independence from what they saw as a bloated system of government. Thus began the galactic civil war that raged for a hundred years.
After the dust had settled from the war the galaxy was greatly changed. The alliance of the races had broken reducing every race to their own collection of systems rather than a united whole. Technology had been set back at least a thousand years and the population of the galaxy had been halved with many beautiful planets now uninhabitable wastelands. From the ashes of this sorry state of affairs rose the new Dynastic Empire. Twelve wealthy families banded together to buy, destroy or ally with any system of humans they could get a hold of. After one hundred years they had control of every human system in the inner part of the galaxy and the vast majority of the outer part. They established friendly trade relations with alien races still willing to speak to them after the disastrous war and eventually formed a powerful dictatorial government.
The Dynastic Empire
The year is now five thousand and eighty. The Dynastic Empire has been in control for almost nine hundred years with no sign of slowing. Technology has still not recovered but there have been great leaps in recent centuries. Humanity itself has become divided into very distinct castes which are very hard to get out of once born into.
At the top of the hierarchy sits the Dynastic Families. A number of massive sprawling families of various branches each vying to put their head as the next Galactic President. Only Dynasts can serve in the Galactic Senate.
Below them are the wealthy galactic merchant families and Sector Families. Their influence is either tied to one sector or the fortunes of their business. Only sector family members can be elected to Sector Senates.
Third in power and influence are the modest galactic merchants and System Families. System Families form the government of individual solar systems using whatever political system they might wish. They answer directly to the Sector Senate.
Fourth are the Planetary Governments and the powerful families of individual planets. Their influence only extends to the planet they are on and perhaps a nearby planet or moon. They answer directly to the System Government in whatever form that may be.
Finally there are the ordinary citizens of the Dynastic Empire who have little to no voice. They live, work and die in obscurity.
Outer Sectors
On the outer regions of the Milky Way lie many independent human sectors. Some of them are lawless, some more tyrannical than the worst Dynasts, and others are a paragon of equality. One thing they have in common is a bitter dislike of the Dynastic Empire. It is in this place that a new breed of humanity has come into being: Pirates.
Pirates
Living outside the rigid caste system of the Dynastic Empire and the governments of the outer regions, The Pirates reject all form of law except their own, wanting nothing more but to be free to make money in whatsoever way they will. For some this means nothing more than some smuggling, others mercenary work and for others the most well-known of Pirate activities: Piracy.

The Legendary Ship
The Black Dawn is a medium sized ship with a crew complement of two hundred. At the pinnacle of the crew stand the senior officers who have responsibility over various departments that all serve to keep the ship running at top condition whether travelling or in battle.
The ship is at least two hundred years old but despite that it is probably in far better condition that most ships a tenth of its age. It is armed to the teeth with high-grade weaponry, equipped with a boarding spike (Literally a drill with an airlock attached to it allowing ships to be boarded from anywhere giving a far greater element of surprise than using a standard airlock.), and one of the fastest engines in the galaxy. It has been known to take full armed military vessels up to (but not including) battleship class sizes.
Senior Crew Positions
Captain Feroca: Contrary to legend Captain Feroca is not over two hundred years old. Humanity does live longer thanks to modern technology but not that long, yet. Every captain of the Black Dawn is called Captain Feroca, be it man or woman. Their duty is to recruit new crewmembers, enforce the code and they have overall command of the Black Dawn.
First Mate: The right hand of Captain Feroca. Their duties are many and varied but always they must be completely loyal to their captain. They are one of the few people who can publicly disagree with the Captain and not get shot on the spot.
Their duties include:
Principal adviser to the captain Implementer of the captain's orders Preparation and issue of duty rosters Commander of the vessel in the event of the captain's absence, incapacitation or death Work with the ship's doctor on crew evaluations Train and lead landing/boarding parties. Supervise loading and off-loading of cargo.
Quartermaster: If the first-mate is the right hand then the Quartermaster is the left. The Quartermaster is unusual in that they are elected from the rank and file to a position of trust.
Their duties include:
Management of all ship resources (provisions, equipment, money, etc.) Calculating the value of recent takings (under supervision of the Captain) and the value of the cut for each crewmember.
Chief Gunner: In charge of the ship's gunnery department. Generally they are tasked with training gunners, supervising maintenance of ship weaponry and ship security.
Chief Engineer: In charge of the ship's engineering department. Generally they are tasked with training engineers, supervising maintenance of the ship's engines and ship repairs.
Chief Pilot: Normally they are the ones piloting the ship. When not doing so they are expected to either train co-pilots or rest. It can be a very stressful job but they at least never have to worry about getting drafted into a boarding party.
Navigator: They plot the courses of the ship as well as being in charge of all the scanning and communication equipment.
Ship's Doctor: The only officer who can force the captain to stand down. They have great power but at the price that they are usually the first to get lynched if the crew feel that the medical team cannot be trusted. On top of being the only trained doctor on staff, they are also expected to train orderlies and nurses when not treating patients or resting. They get a very large set of quarters, in comparison to others, but they have the problem of having to share it with the orderlies and nurses if there aren't enough beds for patients.

Only kill in self defence. 6. Leave taken ships in good enough condition to journey on after suitable repairs. 7. Deliver a code breaker to their captain for judgement. 8. If the captain is a code breaker then deliver them to another captain for judgement.

Profiles
Username: Xaimee Real Name: Josie Valen Pirate Name: Captain Feroca VI Position: Captain Age: 28 Race: Human Gender: Female Before Piracy: Josie was born the oldest daughter to the Valen dynasty, one of the wealthiest extended families in the inner Milky Way, having holdings in many of the inner sectors and even a house on Earth itself. She was born to the main line of the family, a distant fiftieth in the line of succession, and brought up in a life of luxury. Part of her yearned to be able to do more than just receive lessons, live life as a dilettante and wait to be married off but the dynastic families were so powerful escape was hopeless. During a business trip with her parents, at the age of seventeen, fate gave her a way out. On the way to a sector near the outer regions, her parent's ship was attacked and taken by the Black Dawn. Captain Feroca V took her by force to be his wench, finding himself attracted to her unusual eyes and hair. Her parents were left alive but adrift. She hasn't seen her parents since. Life on the Black Dawn: As Captain Feroca's wench she lived in luxury in his quarters but was rarely allowed to step foot outside them except to accompany him on trips off-ship. She was taken almost nightly but to her relief never became pregnant thanks to his insistence on her using birth control (He would not have a child on his ship). As the years passed the fearsome man began to fall for her. He began to tell her the great secrets of the Black Dawn, such as him being the fifth Captain Feroca, the others having long since died or retired. After five years of captivity he finally allowed her to become part of the crew (Something she had grown to desire when she found her own heart softening towards him and her desire for adventure reawakening.) and even bought her some almost priceless alien biomechanical enhancements (vastly superior to human bionics) that she wanted in order to please her as well as give her the ability to defend herself. On her twenty seventh birthday he announced that he would be retiring and that, as customary, those who wished to succeed him were to duel to first blood (or the equivalent) in order to decide the new captain. Thanks to her training, cunning and bionics, she succeeded the man she had grown fond of. He was disappointed she did not want to retire with him but she said that he needed to find a woman that could love him back rather than just care for him. Reluctantly he agreed and bestowed the title of Captain Feroca the sixth upon her. The crew were all bribed and sent on their way. The next six months of her life were then spent putting a new crew together as well as avoiding her family's agents who had long since given up finding her alive but could still recognise her. She did not feel like she could return to her family after so long to live the life as a trophy wife. It's been a year since she first set out with a full crew (six months since her twenty eighth birthday) and true to her new name she has reforged the Black Dawn's reputation. Her crew have grown to respect her despite her gender and dynastic mannerisms. Their holds are regularly overflowing with loot to be sold and the ship has never been so well armed or in such good condition. With the news of this treasureship, she is determined for this to be her final job before retiring herself as a wealthy dilettante in some distant sector to live out the rest of her life in peace and blissful obscurity -- she hasn't decided if she wants to rejoin her family by then. Certainly her power would force them to treat her as an equal. Personality: Josie is a very determined woman with a steely core to her hidden behind years of training as a dynastic scion. She still speaks with an obviously dynastic accent and many of her mannerisms reflect her upbringing, albeit with a slight pirate caste. She is fairly friendly to almost anyone and greatly cares for her crew -- they are like a family to her. Despite her friendly and caring manner she is utterly ruthless to her enemies. If she comes across a pirate not keeping to the code they are immediately dealt with in an almost brutal manner. To her loyalty to one's crew and the code are what separates a pirate from a mere thug and brigand. Abilities: Thanks to the rare alien biomechanical enhancements her former lover bought her, she has the ability to control electricity. To many it appears almost like magic but it is very much scientific in nature. The alien technology is so advanced that for all intents and purposes her body is completely human, instead tiny nano-machines that are completely undetectable and indestructible course through her veins giving her the remarkable ability. They also allow her to regenerate even the most severe wounds and they do not even leave a scar. Equipment: Josie carries no equipment except her personal shield. For offence she relies completely on her biomechanical enhancements. Appearance: Captain Feroca the Sixth
Username: Louisdepointdulack Real Name: Robert McAllister Pirate Name: Robbie or Allister Position: Chief Gunner Age: 29 Race: Human Gender: Male Before Piracy: Robert was raised on one of the space colonies that had built up around the outer stars of the Milky Way, his family made a meager living off of his father’s skill in crafting weapons. Since alien technology had started to edge out human weaponry though, his family struggled to get by. Robbie went to work at the age of thirteen, helping to unload the ships that docked at their colony, and he had small jobs of delivering packages for higher ups. In fact, he got into the business of drug delivery, if someone needed to get a package of space dust delivered then Robbie was there man. By the time he was twenty, Robbie had a fairly comfortable living but his family had disowned him because of his illegal means of obtaining the riches. It was ironic in a way, he got into it to help them but it only ended up pushing them away. The game got to be too much though and he had to skip town, Robbie headed out to find a different life, a new identity. He found his way to a little settlement of thieves, druggies, pirates, and all other walks of life. He assumed the name Allister and became a bartender, hearing the secrets of this place, settling fights with his wits, guns, or with his own strength when need be. He stayed in this settlement until the Captain came calling, and some part of him knew that this was the next step in his life. Life on the Black Dawn: When he was approached with the opportunity to be a member of the Black Dawn’s crew he was more then surprised. He knew that he had his own skills, he knew how to forge weapons and Allister certainly knew how to use them. The surprise of having a woman captain wore off quickly though, especially when he realized that he couldn’t get away with anything under her. She was the only woman that he had ever met that could kick his a**, but that didn’t keep him from messing with her on occasion. He likes his life aboard the Black Dawn and for the first time in his existence, Allister felt like he fit somewhere. Personality: He’s a bit of a jokester, Allister can be serious but only when the situation calls for it. Allister enjoys whittling away at people’s nerves but he has his charming moments. He can be a perfect gentlemen or an annoying pervert at the drop of a hat. Allister is able to keep his calm most of the time, but if someone he cares about is threatened than Allister will react with an anger that borders on manic. Abilities: No powers really, unless his aim counts. It isn’t enhanced, Allister has just had a lot of practice with weaponry. Equipment: Guns are his favorite toys, he has at least three on his person at all times. A dagger is often within reach as well, basically anything Allister can get his hands on can be considered a weapon. Appearance: Allstar
Username: Mort Faux Real Name: Tchirnaran Hrolfmarath Pirate Name: Stripe Position: Chief Pilot Age: 37 Race: Telghren Gender: Male Before Piracy: The Telghren are a seeded race, created initially in the very early days of human space travel, scientists, embedding human genetics in the bodies of the most durable of Earth's creatures and predators, loading them on an early form of 'Space Ark' and sending them to a planet proven to be habitable, if hostile. Upon the arrival of the ark, the beasts soon went mad, destroying each other when released, leaving only the tigers of Earth left to stake claim on the world. The native creatures proved hostile, but facing an unknown threat by beings that had lasted wild even against the technological race of humans, the Earth beasts drove home that they would reside here.
Some 2000 odd years later, in a state of accelerated evolution driven from the human genetic material embedded in them, the generations of the tigers, now calling themselves the Telghren, became sentient, developing their own technology and culture, most of which was derived from the ark they had arrived in. To this day, though they are not advanced enough to travel the stars themselves, they are often 'selected' as infants to be taken to the space academies of the Dynastic empire. This is how Tchirnaran's story begins.
In a ritual among his kind, as a small child, he had proven himself the most powerful before the revered star travellers, and was taken to one of the most esteemed academy the Dynasty had to offer. Spending his entire childhood and young adult years there, he trained hard, lived well, and rose to be one of the best pilots in the fleet, time and time again defying all odds whenever he was at the wheel of a vessel, land bound or space voyager. In these years, he loved, he lived, he lost, as many do, before becoming a member of one of the Dynasty's best navys. Of course, his skill, allowing him to excel, also prevented him from advancing, never given a promotion that might pull him away from a ship, and he soon became frustrated, eventually defecting when, in a bout of rage, he struck down his commanding officer.
Since then, Tchirnaran, or Stripe was the name he took for himself, being a free agent in the unaffiliated worlds, making a good living piloting a salvage and mining ship, spending much of his time flying alone, operating on large reserves and seeing other beings perhaps once every other month or so. Of course, a mining vessel on it's way back to port often carries many valuables, and was a prime target... Life on the Black Dawn: With nothing but a fully loaded salvage and mining ship at his disposal, a good deal smaller in size, not to mention only armed with a low quality mining beam, he seemed an easy target for the dark ship that notoriously sailed the stars, the Black Dawn. However, after a long, drawn out fight, Stripe had effectively crippled almost every external gun aboard the ship while taking no damage of his own, releasing cargo directly in the path of weapons that may have otherwise been a sure hit to deflect them. The salvage vessel actually moved in to board the pilot ship, though in an odd, though expected turn of events, the Talghren found himself quickly under guard of a well armed crew, he himself having only a small pistol in the means of personal weaponry. Still, he had proven himself an able pilot, and gained the attention of the captain, Feroca the fifth, and under the condition that he assisted in repairing the damage to the guns aboard the Black Dawn, he would be offered a position on the vessel. With the pay being several miles over his current scale, he happily accepted, being quoted saying "I've never been a pirate before; Hell, hunted swarms of em, in fact."
When it came time for the previous captain to retire, he felt that this part of his life was over, as well, feeling like a retirement from the pirate's life was in order. However, when he saw the new captain go about firing essentially everyone from their positions, he couldn't help but stay aboard; if there was only the captain, the ship wouldn't go very far, and the only other pilots likely to be found would probably be men that had just been relieved of duty. So, Stripe silently accepted the new captain, having refrained from the selection trials in the first place, deciding to do his best for Feroca the Sixth, looking forward to a new dawn, a Black Dawn... Personality: Stripe much prefers to let others talk, but is hardly a man of few words. Often, he can be seen (easily, due to his massive build and a stature of roughly eight feet,) near the captain, seeming to be more of a bodyguard than a pilot, as he often operates the ship from a hand terminal unless the situation calls for more direct action. His voice is very heavy, sounding much like a stifled roar of the beasts he is descended from, but unless he is yelling, always sounds a little whispered. He is kind to anyone brave enough to approach him, and is oddly passive when it comes to orders, though if he disagrees strongly, he will be the first to voice his opinion, situations like these can often lead to him being heard across multiple decks of the ship. All in all, he is just a big cat at heart, with a love for his job and an eye for the captain... Abilities: Racial traits, primarily, being strong, dexterous, and able to see in very low light situations without trouble. Not to mention the power of intimidation, a veritable wall of a man standing just over eight feet in height. Equipment: Stripe carries a modified heavy rifle, modified in the fact that he uses it more like a pistol or sidearm than a rifle, his stature allowing him to easily use it as such. He also carries a computer terminal, shaped like a long bracelet, over his left arm, directly interfacing with the Black Dawn and allowing him to pilot it remotely. Appearance: [- Stripe -]
Username: Mr. Eccentricity Real Name: Gareth Vasquez Pirate Name: Compas Position: Navigator Age: 19 Race: Human Gender: Male Before Piracy: Gareth’s father was a talented navigator for big-time corporation merchant ships. However, when his wife died giving birth to Gareth, the world meant nothing. He quit his job and fell into the love of alcohol, leaving Gareth alone with a sea of navigation books as companions. With those guides as his only friends, Gareth became self-taught in the ways of navigation and became a master at a young age due to the early exposure. Once he was old enough to be able to live on his own (or so he thought), he ran away from the grip of his father, sick of the abuse and the stench of alcohol. Life on the Black Dawn: Stowed away on a cargo ship, he overestimated his sneaking skills and was found quickly. They were going to hand him over to the police had the Black Dawn not decided to raid their ship. In the raid, Gareth made his way over to the Black Dawn and explained his situation. In a bizarre coincidence, the navigator of the Black Dawn had been killed in the skirmish, and Gareth eagerly took the chance to prove himself. In that chance, he found himself a new position, a new family, and a new life, though he is aware some do not approve of his young age… Personality: Short-tempered, impulsive, and rude, Gareth is never happy with anything, and it is a rare moment when he is not criticizing or complaining. If he gets a chance to, he will pick on someone, especially guys, just for being too girly. He does not cook (too girly), rarely smiles (shows weakness), and has no problem with stealing to get what he needs. If he is not your friend, he will put up a wall to keep you away. However, if you have managed to jump over it, he can be surprisingly sensitive. Abilities: Very good sense of direction and orientation, skilled with computers, and has the ability to easily piss off anyone. Equipment: His main weapon is his mind. Of course, this by no means indicates that he won’t pull out his switchblade at the first chance he gets. It’s reflex, you see, after all those years with just his father, himself, and his trusty switchblade. How else did he get all those scars? He also has a pistol handy, but considering he barely knows how to fire the thing… Appearance: [Gareth]
Username: RynnTheRaven Real Name: Elisia Fletcher Pirate Name: Ratchet or Fletch Position: Chief Engineer Age: 28 Race: Human Gender: Female Before Piracy: Elisia was an indentured servant to one of the more prominent black market dealers, fixing and often times helping him to swindle needy people out of their money. Her father had sold her off, deep in debt from gambling and drinking with no way out. She soon learned the tricks of the trade, and, even with one of her arms being hacked off by a ship engine and being replaced with pure circuitry, was one of the best engineers that was possible to find, though her master didn't let her services go cheap.
In her spare time, she hacked anything she could get her engineering hands on, and though she wasn't the best, she could manage herself in getting around her masters computers. She enjoyed her talents at fixing things, and sometimes even getting back at the society she regarded so coldly, but being someone's servant got boring, and she tired of it.
She ended up tearing her master's bike apart on the inside, and as soon as he switched it on, the pathetic alien exploded. And so Fletch the Engineer was free. Life on the Black Dawn: After cruising around the galaxy for a few years, Fletch heard of the Black Dawn. Being a pirate, after her days with the black market, didn't sound bad. In fact, it sounded like a challenge the universe was giving to her. Fletch accepted, and so did the Captain. She's constantly upgrading the engines and shields to no end, though stays mostly away from the crew unless they approach her first, or she sees a bit of something or another that piques her interest. The captain, however, has earned respect from Fletcher after the few months the engineer has been aboard. The woman could be kind one moment, and rip an arm off when she needed to. And the woman certainly kept the cash flow moving. The improvements Fletch's made to the ship are innumerable, and all fill her with a satisfactory glee. She sometimes seeks the captain out, pointing out things that could be improved, and asking if there is anything going wrong with the ship at the moment, though the captain is one of the few crew members she stays near. She is quite fond, however, of tailing either the Doctor or the Gunner, drinking in any technology they are around. Personality: Mostly indifferent to people's troubles, she goes by the saying, "S**t happens." If anyone has any sob story, then it's not her job to listen to it, and their job to get over it. She has a bit of a short fuse, but, when she's interested in something, is a great attentive listener. However, she's not always too swift, though undoubtedly smart, and often pauses to think about her reply to something. She's also a smart*ss, and happily so. Abilities: Fletch can repair near anything, and can hack medium security consoles. She can also sleep for 12 hours straight. That counts, right? Equipment: Fletch is a deadly shot with her wrench when she gets irked with someone. She can fire somewhat well, and she has a cool mechanical arm, which she fawns over often and has named Isaac. Appearance: Fletch
Username: mc2 Real Name: Amarelle Jade Pirate Name: Red Eye Position: Ship Doctor Age: 23 Race: Half human half Kree (the Kree are a race of rather emaciated looking aliens-that are generally human in appearance that are notably pale, have some of the best reflexes in the universe, and can see in the dark with their red eyes, though they are completely color blind. They come from a planet where the surface was quite harsh and practically unlivable; however, underground the temperatures and climate were far more habitable.) Gender: Female Before Piracy: The Kree were once a peace loving race, bound on tradition, and the belief of benefiting all creatures with their advance technology in specifically healing. Yet, things changed when the war happened. The species split alliances, almost half the race supporting the humans the other half fighting against. The war tore the planet apart, and in the end it didn't matter who won, the Kree were doomed to be drifters without a planet to call their own. And so, the few thousand survivors left scattered some living in the Dynastic Empire others living in the Outer Sectors. Regardless, though many Kree chose to breed with themselves, others began to breed with other races in the universe. Amarelle's mother-Ara- was one such Kree. While traveling on her own Ara had met and apparently fallen for a human male. All, Amarelle knows is that two years after Ara left, she returned with her mate to drop off a young infant with her father and quickly the couple left claiming to be on the run from some unknown pursuer. And, so Amarelle's parents never returned and she grew up only knowing her grandfather, Yin, who was a surgeon or doctor declared a medical genius living in one of the most lawless ports in the Outer Sector. Not knowing what else to do with the Halfling child, the grandfather patiently taught the brilliant young girl all he knew. Amazingly, Amarelle by the age of thirteen could complete brain surgeries with almost as high of success as her grandfather. However, at 15 the lawlessness and disorganization of her planet finally caught up with her. A group of men came claiming they needed medical treatment for one of their friends, instead once inside the men proceeded to rob Yin's home and brutally murdered the only witness to their crime Yin leaving the house in ruins when Amarelle returned from her trip to market. With nowhere to go Amarelle the young girl began to steal what she needed to live and things that caught her interest (primarily medical supplies and instruments) and smuggle onto ships for the thrill of adventure and hopes of finding who had killed her grandfather. Finally though, by 17 she was caught and sent to prison at least three times, each time she managed to escape before her sentence was over, beginning to gain a small bounty on her head as she slowly moved up from supporting herself with petty stealing to running a black market medical store on her 'home' planet. Life on the Black Dawn: Despite her rise to fame and notoriety as one of the most reliable doctors both working main stream or for the black market, Amarelle was unhappy with her position. Things changed eleven months ago when a representative of the Black Dawn came offering her a position as the ship doctor. Not having anything better to do she decided to accept the offer as it was an opportunity to get off her planet facing reminders of her past and a chance to make better money. Coming onto the ship she found she was barely tolerated as the doctor in charge due to her young appearance (and actual age) despite her medical prowess. Things changed though a month after her arrival, when she was able to prove herself by curing a man who had his heart pierced in battle. No one had expected him to live, but within a few weeks he was completely healed and back to fighting with the rest of the crew. It has been eleven months since Amarelle Jade has been appointed as ship doctor, and despite the wounds and illnesses all pirate ships have encountered, those who step foot/rolled/or dragged into her sick bay no matter what illness or wound they have, have over a 98% chance of walking back out of her sick bay better than before they encountered whatever illness or injury that had inflicted them. Personality: Once, Amarelle was quiet, shy, and bookish, now though she is rather quiet it is not due to shyness, it is due to her constant evaluation of everything around her. Though she is rather opinionated, she keeps her true feelings to herself on any matter and her face tends to be rather masklike no matter what is going on in her head. Her levelheadedness and outer calm is often deceiving, as in general she claims to dislike most people- even though she will go out of her way to heal most people as it is something she is good at and she had ‘nothing better to do.’ She is very suspicious of most people and usually rather be on her own. Abilities: Her red eye she inherited from her mother allowing her to see in complete darkness, while her other eye is from her father allowing her to see in color. She has a photographic memory, making it impossible for her to forget whatever she has ever laid eyes on. And, she has a vast amount of medical knowledge and quite steady hands. Equipment: poisoned darts (hidden in a flower armband she wears), and a vast supply of medical instruments and medicines mostly alien in origin. Appearance: Red Eye
Username: Metal-Ridley Real Name: Ziek Stryker Pirate Name: Gash Position: Quartermaster Age: 27 Race: Human Gender: Male Before Piracy: Ziek was born into a family of bounty hunters; both his father and mother were into the hunting business. The first part of his life was spent being raised half the time by his parents, the other half by his father’s parents until Ziek was old enough to follow the couple when they travelled the galaxy for work; it’s only then that Stryker’s father began teaching the young one how to wield and use various weapons (mostly blades and handguns), preparing his child for a future career that seemed to have already been set for him. When Ziek turned 18, his old folks retired from the bounty hunting business and Ziek started his solo career from there. With his father’s training and the tough jobs he picked, the young Stryker eventually got stronger and made a name for himself: he wasn’t the best, far from it, but his name was getting a good reputation and not only because of the family he came from. One faithful day, after another mission successfully done, the soon-to-be Gash was approached by a stranger. The stranger offered Ziek riches, more than what he was doing with his lowly bounty hunting work. Not only did he offer riches, but a fearsome reputation as well, and maybe even more; all that, if Ziek accepted to join Captain Feroca and the Black Dawn’s crew. The riches and reputation didn’t really interest Ziek that much, but seeing as it had been about five years since going solo, he was getting tired of being on his own. Stryker signed up and got recruited to replace a fallen mate. He was now a pirate under Captain Feroca, the one previous to Josie Valen. When the previous Captain Feroca announced his retirement, Gash took part into the competition to be the next top man aboard. He was very confident: his time spent with the pirates taught him a lot and not only did he gain more experience, but he also got to use heavier weapons. Ziek felt like his chance to finally truly shine had arrived... Until he faced Josie, the current captain, in the final fight. The fight was good, but Ziek was defeated by the mysterious woman, partly due to his overconfidence in his skills and physical strength but also because the woman was definitively stronger than he was. Gash, like the other pirates, was sent away and the bounty hunting business started again. Life on the Black Dawn: Not too long after leaving the Black Dawn, Ziek was approached by the new Feroca and asked if he was interested in joining the new crew. The bounty hunter wondered why, seeing as he did have some sort of grudge against the woman who stole... or rather earned the chance to be the next captain; maybe it was because he did give her a good impression during that last brawl, even if she was obviously superior to him. Stryker swallowed his pride and decided to join once more, hoping he would enjoy a good pirate’s life like he used to and maybe, just maybe, he would get a second shot at being Captain later. Since his second recruiting, Ziek’s grudge against Feroca seemed to have disappeared and changed more into respect. Being appointed to be the Quartermaster, he had no choice but to respect his new captain anyway. Since he’s been working to prove himself worthy of the crew once more, Gash hasn’t been interacting too much with the new crew and instead has been giving a lot of time to his tasks. Whenever he has a break, he usually enjoys a quiet moment on his own, but so far he does seem to get along well with most people given his laid-back personality. Personality: Ziek is a rather laid-back and relaxed fellow. He doesn’t tend to be stressed out with anything, except when the situation is critical. He is quite friendly, but mostly when people come to him; he doesn’t go to people that often as he likes the quiet as much as good company. Although Gash is pretty laid-back, he takes pride in what he does and likes to do it properly; it's basically the only thing he seems to stress about(except critical situations, as mentioned already). Abilities: Slightly more physically strong and enduring than a normal human due to his work-out and some cheap bionics he got when he was younger. Good with heavy weapons and close-combat, but that’s about it. No big super-human abilities or anything. Equipment: Various heavy weapons, but most of the time Gash uses his trusted(and favourite) minigun. If stuck with no firearms, Ziek will simply use either his fists or one of his old swords. Appearance: Gash

Current Ship Location
The Black Dawn is about a week from the spaceport 'Last Edge'. It rests literally on the very edge of the Milky Way and tends to be the spot anyone on the run from Pirates, Dynasts or Bounty Hunters flees to due to its remoteness. It also makes it a very wealthy station and the perfect place to stop off for supplies before an expedition into the void.

Josie Valen watched the stars streak by as her ship powered through the black of space. The engines were barely a murmur, so efficient had they become over the years of spending and modification, that she barely felt any vibration through the richly carpeted floor of her room. She sighed happily, taking a sip from the crystal glass in her hand, enjoying the richness of the ruby liquid it held. They were on the way to the staging point for the greatest voyage in the Black Dawn’s long history. The crew were on edge, she understood, but to her, all her mind contained was excitement at a journey into the unknown and sheer confidence in her handpicked crew. They were utterly loyal to her, although a few had chosen to leave instead of going on this voyage. It had saddened her to lose some good people but, such was the reputation of the starless regions, even the fierce Captain Feroca could not ignore the fears of her superstitious crew. She smiled. Promises of wealth untold had overcome all but the most stubborn of the pirates, however.
Turning away, she walked across the deep red carpet, her short red silk dressing gown whispering around the bottom of her thighs. Her golden eyes drifted onto a picture of the former captain and her. She looked so young there, only eighteen and finally accepting the man who had taken her simply as a sex toy. They had become friends by then, spending time together. He had had this picture taken to celebrate one year together. Chuckling to herself, she gently slid herself onto her bed, placing her glass on the polished black bedside table smoothly. It was insane to think to celebrate such an anniversary but then again, neither of them were particularly conventional as it turned out.
She slid her slender legs under her relatively small body. People were always surprised when it turned out that Captain Feroca was a woman, they were even more surprised when it turned out said pirate captain was a petite woman only a couple of inches past five feet. She smiled a little. On the other hand, many of her crew, especially her senior crew, were not what you would expect. It was perhaps considered motley but they were the best at what they did, and that was what mattered to her.
Reaching out a short sleeve clad arm, she grabbed a book from the opposite bedside table and opened it at her current page. The story was fairly interesting, an old romance tale about a human woman falling for a male Ctarl Ctarl and vice-versa. It was rather amusing, watching the clash of cultures as they tried to make each other understand how they felt. She had to admit, the writer displayed an impressive knowledge of both. Something Feroca could appreciate, she and Min, an old crewmember who retired when she became Captain, had been friends for many years and they had taught each other much about each other’s people.
Yawning, she settled back into one of the many pillows on her bed, her book in one hand and her glass of wine in the other. It was nice when it was quiet, although she would be a liar if she said she did not enjoy the thrill of combat with a worthy adversary. After all, she would be a terrible captain if she didn’t, wouldn’t she?

Amarelle Jade was known as Red Eye on the ship for two reasons, one was obvious- the bright red glowing eye that all Kree had, an unusual trait of the aliens that was both a blessing and a curse some would argue; though it gave perfect night vision, granted there was even the slightest hint of light, it came at the price of the lack of any color vision. Kree's red eyes were composed only of rods, unlike the mix of primarily cones (for color vision) and some rods (for night vision) that humans had. But then again, she could see in color too whenever in good light thanks to her other eye- her bright blue eye she inherited from her human father. Which as far as, Red Eye could guess, that was about all he left her of any use.
She was also called Red Eye out of a pun from the old human phrase 'Red Eye flight' meaning a night flight, many of her subordinates honestly believed she did not ever sleep as she would come and go from the sick bay at all hours. It was something Red Eye would roll her eyes at, of course she slept- she just didn't sleep as much as humans did, four hours was enough for her. She had better things to do than sleep- her free time she'd rather spend pampering herself or enjoying herself not sleeping.
Pampering herself was exactly what she was doing, after a two hour surgery reattaching three fingers on one of the engineering crewmen's hand, Red Eye wanted nothing more than a long hot shower. Not bothering to turn on the light to the washrooms, she stepped out of her boots and stripped off her tank-top as she walked to the showers. Setting her clean clothes right outside of the shower stall and draping her towel on the rod she turned on the hot water. Closing her eyes as it rained down on her. Just as quickly as she closed her eyes she opened them again, sighing as she watched what little blood she had gotten on her wash down the drain... too bad memories couldn't do that either.
Smiling she said quietly to herself aloud, in the Kree's native language, (something else she had acquired from her grandfather besides her medical knowledge) a phrase her grandfather said, "When you remember everything- you remember the good AND the bad. Even the bleakest life has at least on happy memory... a sunset on your home planet, a simple thank-you, or even something as simple as the beauty of a flower." Sliding off her armband she smiled down at it, not only was it a decoration showing off her grandfather's favorite flower, the flower his late wife was named after, but it was deadly too. At the concealed tip of each petal was a different poison, each made specially to target specific species.
Red Eye was still smiling as she shut off the water ten minutes later and slipped the arm band back onto her narrow arm. Blocking off her usual memories, she thought about the latest surgery- a perfect success, like usual. Healing- it was one thing she found joy in, besides money that is. She enjoyed being the best, and healing was what she was really good at-remarkably good at. If she wasn't she probably would have been kicked off the ship or worse a long time ago. Red Eye sincerely doubted that the crew of The Black Dawn would put up with (as some said on her home planet) "a suspiciously quiet, ex-con, Kree/Human mix breed, who had less sex appeal than some 15 year olds." Well, that was at least some of the more flavorful insults she had come across running her black market medical shop back home.
