a sudden, complete or marked change in something The sound of birds flying overhead, or of squirrels shaking the needles of a pine tree above him. The sensation of steadily-moving paws on cool, damp earth. The scent of his newborn pups, their milky breath and clean fur as they yawned and nestled against their mother. Their beautiful mother. Oh Gods bless her, them, and the alpha, his alpha who made it happen.
Friday's dark plum pelt was sleek and unmatted, the body underneath a well-toned, well-fed frame. His face was quite handsome despite his toothy markings, but with his real smile pulled back so fully it made the 'mouth' look happy.
And why shouldn't he be? He had a family! A beautiful, wonderful mate and children. A well-loved and respected alpha and a high ranking. He had paced all the hours of his mate's labour, waiting and wearing holes into the ground outside of her den. And now, not too long after their birth, while she rested along with the midwives he still found himself full of energy!
So alpha had sent him on patrol. A circuit around the territory, meet with the next shift and he would be free. A part of him cherished the exercise for his restless seeming feet, trying so hard to be as high and winged as his heart. Yet another yearned for his mate. He wanted to be near her. To smell her, to feel her. To hear her heart beating. Beating along with their pups. Beating for him. He was so happily torn.

He was for one thing the epiphany of evil. When his son hadn't returned with a human child, like something he was commanded to do. He beat the poor sap until he lay a bloody sack of wolf guts on the ground. Though he didn't kill him. Not because he was merciful; it was because the little b*****d might still have some use to him. Dante himself was too lazy to retrieve children himself. That and he wasn't too fond of human civilization. Let the whelp do his dirty work. He was a GOD after all GOD'S didn't do work.
But he still hadn't eaten thanks to Faust's failure. And his mood was steadily declining worse then it was. It was never really good to be near Dante in the first place- but a HUNGRY Dante...well there was another issue there.
He couldn't help but hearing the faint thoughts of puppies from the distance he was at. Puppies were his SECOND favorite food after children. He licked his lips a small ounce of saliva dripping down from his lower lip. Now how to get the little bastards. Sure HE could go in and get them...but that wasn't his style. His mind then scanned the area for something that might interest him...perfect- the father on patrol. HE'D get those puppies for him.
'Find anything INTERESTING on patrol?' He mocked into the other's head.

Friday stopped in his tracks, surprised and confused at the same time. His head swiveled about as he looked for the source of noise, but as a thought it had no direction to come from other than inside his head. For a second he hesitated, thinking how to proceed before smirking.
"Only you so far, stranger. And even you are not 'found' by me yet. Show yourself, but walk careful, stranger! You are at the borders of the Woodburn Pack."
The male called out into the forest, as confidant as a clam. He had handled stragglers before out on patrol, delegates from other packs and even minor ne'er-do-well teenagers sneaking away from their families. This one would be no different.
