 Each day that she was on her own, and made no serious blunders that her mentor would have scolded her for- such as inattention and carelessness- Liliah's confidence grew. It also helped that she was quite lovely, and most of her aquaintances were quick to acknowledge that, though she understood in a slightly more than abstract way as a healer and as a mare that appearances weren't important. That didn't mean she couldn't appreciate or admire beauty, and be grateful that she herself was beautiful, though. As it was, she was still a young mare, and she didn't have to be serious, or a shining example of her profession, all the time.
She left the forest behind with a gentle regret- she had grown fond of it while spending so much time with Embri- but it was the plains that had her heart. She had truly missed the wide open spaces to run, and the expanse of sky that was visible stretching on forever. She had been born and raised on the plains, and it was to the plains she would always return.
Stepping out from the shadows of the trees, she was bathed in silver moonlight, causing her dusky coat to seem to glow. She paused, wanting to savor the feeling of homecoming, before going to seek out some company. It had been too long, and she was in a social mood.

It was yet another moonlit night. Another night of nothing special. Yet, it was another night of Gojyo wandering away from the stables he called home. Roaming the lands was nothing new to the stallion, but finding himself wandering more and more at night, perplexed him to a small extent.
He now stood in the plains, trees of the forest lining the horizon in front of him, his home some distance behind. Red eyes glanced to the sky, seeming to be reminiscing about something. A sigh escaped his lips, shaking his head and stopping himself from his thoughts as he began to walk, no specific destination in mind.

Turning her aquamarine gaze to look out across the moonlight bleached fields, Liliah saw a figure in the distance. A taller -well, almost everyone was taller than she was, with the exception of usidia, foals and most flutters- and bulkier figure. Probably male, she thought. Well, it wouldn't hurt to go closer and find out. Besides, perhaps they were looking for some company too.
The petite mare trotted delicately towards the figure. Definately male, she decided as she drew closer. As she drew closer, Liliah nearly started with surprise. She knew the stallion.
A blush stained her cheek for a moment as she considered just how she knew him.
Shaking her head, Liliah decided the past was the past. Besides, Gojyo was a rather interesting stallion.
It would be a pleasant way to pass the time, to talk with the charming stallion. With that in mind, she continued to near where the stallion was staring intently up at the sky.
"Well, well, what do we have here?" The mare almost purred. "Greetings, Gojyo."

The stallion almost missed the greeting as he was about to walk away as the mare approached. Hearing his name, his ear flicked lightly and he turned to see who had spoke to him. Seeing the familiar face, a gleam seemed to have appeared in his red eyes. Smirking, Gojyo turned to fully face her and moved closer to the dainty mare.
"Hey there Lil. What brings your pretty face out here this time of night?"

Liliah watched as the stallion had started to walk away, prepared to brush it off, and perhaps seek out other company for this night as it would have been no real loss on her part, when he turned around.
The dainty mare sauntered over, glad to see him but refusing to acknowledge that fact even to herself. Knowing her own appearance and just how to take advantage of the moonlight to show her at her best, the mare tossed her mane ever so slightly so if fell in soft waves across her neck and leaving both aquamarine eyes visible.
In a playful mood, she pressed against his side, deliberately ignoring his question. "The moon is quite lovely tonight, is it not?"

Gojyo gave his own mane a quick toss, but just to get the haunting red strands out from his eyes. His clearer view allowed him to see her toss her own mane better, watching it cascade around her neck and how the moonlight shining against her fur almost made her seem like she was glowing. It reminded him how he was attracted to her in the first place. She was a lovely little mare.
He chuckled softly when she leaned against him, giving the top of her head a quick nuzzle. At her question, he glanced up to the bright object in the sky. Nodding, he replied. "Yeah, but not as lovely as you this evening."

She blushed becomingly in the light. Still young and naive, she was fine with giving and receiving light flirting, with just about anyone, but being with Gojyo, she was awkward and embarassed, unable to return the light easy flirting that seemed to be as natural as breathing for him.
Why was she always tongue-tied around him?
Liliah closed her eyes briefly as she enjoyed the nuzzle. An affectionate mare, she had gone without such simple touches for some time. Both before she had last encountered the stallion and since.
"Then the moon must be in good company," she murmured, playfulness draining as she started to lose her nerve and become shy, "for it has two such wonderful examples to try and live up to."
Her gaze rested calmly, admiringly on the roguishly handsome stallion.

He chuckled just lightly at the slight color coming to her cheeks. Why were mares just too cute when they got flustered? Heaven knows, all he knew was that it was great to cause this reaction. In the end though, his shameless flirting often ended badly, mainly with a mare with a broken heart, but by this point in time, it didn't bother him too much anymore.
That was starting to change though.
Gojyo pushed that thought aside as he looked down to the dainty mare beside him, smirking lightly at her comment. "Well, I don't know about myself, but I'm sure the moon loves to gaze down upon your lovely form every night."

Liliah grew uncomfortably flustered. How was she supposed to answer that? She shuffled a bit, her weight shifting slightly from hoof to hoof. This was rather awkward for her.
She shook her head, trying to dispel the doubts that plagued her. Yes, she was rather uncomfortable, but really what should that matter?
"So, what brings you here tonight?" She asked, trying to turn the conversation in a different direction.
She felt a flutter in her stomach, not nerves as she had cause to know, and remembered part of the reason for her restlessness. She was pregnant, and she knew without a doubt that her present companion was the father. She bit her lip. She would have to tell him, but not right now.

Score another point for him. He looked down to her as she shifted a bit. With that, he gave her a slight, comforting nudge with his shoulder. He didn't want her to feel uncomfortable around him after all.
At her question, he tossed some of his mane from his face. He sighed and looked up to the sky again. "Oh, I dunno... thinking about stuff. What about yourself?"

Not sure how things would change, once she told the stallion the news- not even sure if he liked children, or wanted any, or really anything about his past for that matter, she wanted to enjoy this encounter as long as she could. She accepted the nudge with grace and leaned against him. It was a chilly night, if he asked she could use that as her justification and excuse. Not that she really expected to need one.
"Oh, and what sort of 'stuff' were you thinking? You seemed almost lost in those thoughts." She turned her head slightly, looking away as she decided to answer his question. " I was enjoying a break from my duties. It isn't all that often I am free to simply... be."
Hearing the words as she spoke them, she shuddered at how ungrateful that sounded. "Not that I don't enjoy being a healer, and learning from miss Embri, I really do like helping others. It's just... sometimes it gets to be a bit much."
There was more to it than that. She kept the bulk of her reasoning to herself. She just hoped that it wasn't obvious she wasn't telling the whole story. Not that she didn't want to just blurt it out, but she wanted to tell the news on her terms, rather than being forced.

When the small mare leaned against him, he just smirked some before resting his head gently on the top of hers. His tail flicked softly as he gave a light nicker, enjoying her company. At her question, his red eyes averted to the side. He was never the type to truly talk about his feelings or what he was thinking. "Oh, just this and that." He started, but soon figured that was a little bit too vague. "Mainly about things of my past and how I should change some things so I don't repeat anything." He answered.
When she turned her head, he looked down to the mare as she answered his question about why she was out and about. He listened intently as she explained coming out to get a small reprieve of her healing duties. Heh... healing. It was even a forte, despite what many might think. But truthfully, he was only half-uni, but not being able to heal didn't affect his life in anyway. Anyways, when she mentioned it being much, he just chuckled lightly. "You shouldn't think too much on it. There is nothing wrong with taking a break every now and then. If you didn't, I'm sure you would eventually become a little stir crazy."

Though she would have simply accepted the first part of his answer -she wasn't a friend or even all that close, little more than an aquaintance, even given their circumstances- she could admit to herself that she was grateful he had elaborated -no matter how little- and she didn't have to pry.
Everyone had a past, and she was no exception. So it was better to leave the subject at that, no matter how curious she was to find out more about him. The last bit of his answer puzzled her though. What had he done that was enough to cause.. regret, she decided. She started to open her mouth to ask, then reconsidered. That was something she'd leave alone, unless he brought it up again. After all, if she asked about it, it would give him an opening to do the same with her.... and her past was a can of worms that was better left unopened.
She was even more grateful that the stallion had not judged her for her need to take a break. After a lifetime of being watched and judged, his easy acceptance was a relief. She felt another weight on her soul lift. It was alright for her to do something for herself. She settled comfortably against his side. Perhaps it would all work out.
She decided that she would share her news, but when she opened her mouth to do so, the words just got stuck in her throat. Maybe now wasn't the best time after all. But she would tell him. He had the right to know that she was carrying his offspring. Perhaps before she left the words would come, and she could tell him.

He continued to stand by her side, allowing her to lean on him. His tail would flick every now and then as they stood there. He wasn't much of one who would just tell anyone his past. But, even if he knew someone for years, he still didn't really divulge much then. It wasn't in his nature. He was one to hold how he felt or thought inside, no matter how others say that it wasn't good for him. He also wasn't one to pry in others pasts as well. If they wanted to tell him, then that was up to him. The stallion wouldn't really be the first one to ask unless it was absolutely crucial. At this time, it wasn't.
He felt her seem to relax more against his side, and he did the same. He nuzzled the top of her head lightly before glancing ahead. It was great to have someone feel comfortable around him, though he did seem to notice that she was still somewhat uncomfortable on something. Twice, he caught her mouth opening, but no words came out, but he didn't question it, not wanting her to feel that she had to tell him something she didn't want to. Instead, he just gave a slight nudge in the direction. If she wanted to tell him, she would, if she didn't then he can wait. "Something on your mind Gorgeous?"

She would have been content to just stay in that moment of peace and comfort forever, but she knew it could never be. Though both had been fidgeting, it was Gojyo who broke the silence. She needed to tell him, she wanted to, but she just didn't know how.
She stepped away from his side, swishing her tail in agitation, one dainty hoof tracing patterns in the grass as she tried to overcome her nervousness and just say what she needed to say.
"Well, you see... I dunno... I" she stuttered uncomfortably before blurting it out. "I'MPREGNANTWITHYOURFOALS."
She turned away not wanting to see rejection or shock or whatever emotion the stallion might feel about the news.She grew agitated. This was all wrong, a mistake. She just knew it. She needed to run to get away. She twirled on her hooves, turning away from him and took off. Running, like she could outrace her ill-fated words. The beautiful night was ruined by her own hooves. She could have wept at the unfairness of it all.
She ran.
