Who: Kyou, Zeke
Where: Alex's office
When: Afternoon, mid March

Peering over the glass panels of the lab doors, Kyou checked the hallway outside to see if anyone was around. He knew that today is Alex's day off, but there might still be chances that she will be coming in to pick up some stuff or something. What Kyou was about to do, it was preferable that she don't find out. Thankfully the hallway looked clear to him, there wasn't a single soul in sight. With one hand held to the potted plant delicately, he pushed the door open and started to tip toe to Alex's office.

Just last month when he found out about Lucretia's death, in a desperate attempt to create a new Raevan with the wilting ice rose, Kyou had killed one of Alex's cactus plant in her office. He placed the poor innocent plant beside a soul bottle overnight, and when he went to inspect it the next day the plant had lost its lush green color, shrunken into a sad brown colored ball that resembled dried prunes. The worse thing was, the soul wasn't of use at all, not being able to bond with the ice rose fel essence. So the cactus's soul was wasted. And that made Kyou feel terrible.

Now that the new Raevan Zurine and Ekundayo had been given new homes, the scientist finally can get a break that he desperately needed. And one thing that he planned to do during his break was to find a new cactus plant to replace the dead one, since it was his fault in the first place for killing it. However, things didn't went as planned and he couldn't find the exact same type of cactus plant. Who knew that the choices were so limited on a tropical island? So instead he chose the next best thing he could find - a blooming mammillaria. It has the same round shape and had a pretty ring of pink flowers growing around it, he was sure that Alex would like it.

The potted plant sat idly in Kyou's hands now as he approached the Italian's office, the little flowers blooming cheerily. Now Kyou just needed to silently place the cactus on Alex's desk, where the last cactus was placed. She wouldn't need to know who placed it there, it would be an anonymous gift. The scientist felt giddy imagining Alex's surprise when she found the new plant on her desk.

Standing outside Alex's office, he listened intently for any noises coming from inside, just in case the Italian woman did come back to clock in some extra hours. Satisfied that there were none, no rustling of papers, no clicking sound of the keyboard as she typed. Carefully, he opened the door as quietly as he could and slipped in swiftly. He left the door slightly ajar as he walked towards Alex's desk, this would only take a moment. Inspecting the wooden surface and recalling the exact location. Then he carefully placed the cactus on the corner of the table, directly in front of the window where sunlight poured in. This spot is perfect for plants with its abundance of light. Now he just need to get out of the office unnoticed and his secret mission would be done.

Springtime air had done wonders for Zeke's activity levels. While winter left the bubbly man feeling less than his prime (and therefore 'sluggish' in his mind), the warm mid-March temperatures left him moving, grooving, and feeling like his normal, active self. The addition of his iPod and the earbuds playing music with a fast beat and tempo also helped, but the weather itself was the main point. It was Monday and therefore his day off from his part time job, but the mohawked man was letting himself into the building anyway, mind set on popping into Alex's office for a quick visit to the older woman and to drop off a gift.

The medium size decorative pot tucked against his chest contained a collection of slightly damp earth and the beginning collection of hens and chicks. A squat, fat, green-colored "hen" sat in the near-center of the pot with a small handful of its "chicks" dotting around it; each of them still small and with their fat succulent leaves curled up. That would change in the coming days when the smaller plants would open up, but for now they remained as such, tucked close to their mother plant just like the small birds from which the plants' name was derived. Zeke couldn't resist picking up a couple pots of the succulents; spring was in the air and he did in fact have a secret love of gardens even if his current living conditions meant he couldn't really plant his own. One was on his desk at work, another was at home and this one, he decided, would make a good gift and "pet project" for his sister and weekend co-worker. They were cute plants and easy to take care of, so why not? He was sure Alex liked plants at any rate. With a short bout of whistling the vet made his way through the lobby after checking for any post it riddles or maps that Alex could have left for him. None were found, but that was alright. It was, in his mind, his turn to leave something for her to come upon after a little self-made game.

The glass door separating the lobby from the rest of the Lab opened and shut and so far he was pleased to see no one was in sight. If Alex was here, maybe she wouldn't be in her office and he could set up that game with the plant as the prize. Hmm...Seemed like a swell idea to Zeke! He stopped in front of Alex's office, hand reaching for the door but stopping as the song in is ears dictated that he get his dance on. Caramel brown eyes shut as he grooved - hips swaying and body rocking to the rock lyrics that poured from the buds. Even though he looked the part of and was a raver, Zeke had a diverse taste in music that he so enjoyed and his iPod was most always on a shuffled mix so he got a little bit of everything each day. The segment of song that brought on the bout of boogie fever passed and with the pointed leaf of the hen tickling his cheek, Zeke finally grasped the office door's handle. Some jiggling told him it wasn't locked and he let himself in. Another patch of lyrics came up and as he went in Zeke was dancing with his eyes closed again. If Alex was in there, it'd be a normal thing for her to see. If not...Well then he had an entire room to make into a studio for a few extra minutes!

Eyes were still shut as he spun around on his heel and guided the door back on its axis into it's frame, really bopping to the beat. They opened again as he felt the door click in the latch, already on the move to turn around and put his gift on the desk behind him.

"Ah...Ah...Ah...Ah-AHHH!" He was singing with the lyrics until he turned around and came face to face with a man he had never seen before, the sudden appearance of face near his own shocking the young veterinarian. In his surprise Zeke stumbled back, heels catching and tripping himself over the cuffs of his baggy jeans. The purple and green haired man slammed into the shut door, his pot of fleshy green plants falling from his arms thanks to the impact and shattering over the floor. Dirt flew everywhere across the hardwood paneling and up into the air, getting into Zeke's eyes as he slumped to the floor with his hand now gripping over his hammering heart. He winced and his right eye pinched shut, already beginning to water as he turned his gaze back up to the person who had just sent him spilling. Earbuds were yanked out with his other hand, breaths coming in short bursts.

"Who the hell are you?!" He gasped, already trying to get up using the door as a brace to do so but merely causing himself to flounder around like a fawn taking its first steps. The shock and fall cleared his cheery disposition outright and it likely wouldn't come back until he could get his heart out of his throat and beating at a normal speed again. Zeke barely registered that the man now towering over him was wearing a lab coat or that he had an additional set of horns and a tail. Those were trivial things right now and he hadn't the faintest inkling that he was in fact sprawled before his employer and the man who was giving him the opportunity to take care of a Raevan. Instead, his eyes were set firmly on Dr. Kyou's face and his own lips were making a clearly uncharacteristic scowl. "This isn't your office, what are you doing here?"

When he heard the door clicked open behind him, Kyou immediately frozen stiff in place. Did Alex really came back? Is he going to be found out? However, the person who emerged through the doors was not Alex at all, in fact, it wasn't even a woman!

The scientist's eyes were wide and his eyebrows raised, staring at the young man who just entered the office. The first thing he noticed was the man's bright green and purple mohawk that was bordering obnoxious, then came the silent bopping. Kyou was wondering why was he moving so oddly until he noticed the wires from his ears - ear buds. He was dancing! As if dumbfounded by the odd chap that just entered the room, it didn't occur to Kyou that he should tap his shoulder to say hi, nor did he thought of hiding or getting out of sight. So he just stood there staring at the bright-haired man, until they came face to face. Although he saw it coming, Kyou couldn't help but be shocked himself. Like the man, he moved backwards in a shout of surprise, the only difference is that he did not stumble or drop anything.

"I-I'm sorry!" He stammered, quickly moving forwards to check on the young fellow. "Are you alright?" His voice filled with concern as he grabbed some tissues from Alex's desk, noticing that the stranger's right eye was shut tight and watering. From a small distance away, he stretched out his arm and offered the flimsy cleaning paper to the man, afraid that he might aggravate him more.

"My name is Dr Kyou, I'm the owner of the Lab." Then it occurred to him, who is this stranger and why was he entering Alex's office? "And you are..?" He asked curiously.

The tissues the man before him held out were taken once Zeke had rubbed his watering eye with the back of his hand. He bent his head down and blinked as he gingerly dabbed the tissue paper around the spot, feeling better once gravity cleared the dirt that had got into his eye and he could see completely again. The younger man sniffled once - just a side effect of watery eyes, not a sign that he was going to cry - and once again started to use the door as a brace to pick himself up. He had better results this time, finally rising to his sneaker-clad feet, but his heart was still hammering from the sudden shock. He fought a smile at how he had acted and won, finally looking at the man across from him as he wadded up the used napkins.

"I...Yeah I'm fine. You just scared me is all. I didn't expect anyone to be in here except for maybe Alex and-or Zul." Zeke released a breath to calm his nerves though his words came out with only a hint of shakiness to them. He didn't sound so aggravated now, as Zeke was never the one to show his anger, pain, or other negative emotions in public. Slowly he would calm, but for now his cheeks had a faint pink tint to them as well; another side effect to the eyes and of course being taken aback so suddenly. His eyes flickered over the man before him as he turned to the wastebasket, lobbing the wadded tissue into the metal bin like a basketball player.

"My name is Dr Kyou, I'm the owner of the Lab."

Zeke froze in that casting position, that pink in his cheeks fading rapidly along with the rest of the color as those words hit home. Finally he meets the man who was his part time employer after two months of mystery and silence and Zeke had just introduced himself with a hearty "who the hell are you?". Well, the man didn't know his name yet, but he had just asked and Zeke had to answer for all the reasons that he was being asked for. He just prayed a little bit that he wouldn't be too badly kicked out of the building when the horned man at his side learned of his identity. After a moment or two with the words "oh s**t" running through his head at high speed, Zeke finally unstuck himself from the position and turned on his heel to face Dr. Kyou. A smile found its way onto his face - one that was both bright and horribly sheepish - and his right hand stuck out for the young looking professional to take. Oh-kay, here we go...

"I'm Zeke," he started off with that, locking eyes with Kyou then as well. "Zeke Farris. I'm your...Weekend receptionist...Hello boss..." The 'hello boss' he ended with was feeble and embarrassed, and Zeke looked the part to match. The dirt, plants, and clay mix on Alex's floor was put out of mind for now, all his focus on the horned man before him. He saw the horns on Kyou's head but living in Gaia and looking as he did made him quite immune to gaping and staring. He'd seen odder, and this was Lab 305 after all! That was another thing that brought something else to mind. This was the Lab. His still growing Raevan was down the hall in its tank. He had probably just insulted the man who had given him the opportunity (through Alex of course, since she had chosen him but Kyou had more than likely okay-ed this. Zeke had never even thought of applying to the foundation before then.) to have said Raevan and who was bringing it to life. Hopefully what had just occurred didn't rile the doctor up enough that he decided the raver before him wasn't suitable! He didn't know what this man was like, even with what Alex had told him!

Kyou couldn't help but notice the moment of stunned quietness after he announced his name, as well as the awkward posture in which the young man was frozen in momentarily. Although this wasn't the first time someone gave him this reaction during an introduction, but it was still a more rare one. This was his lab after all, would it be so surprising to see him in it?

When the young man announced his name, the expression on the scientist's face lightened up. "Ah, Zeke Farris! You're Alex's friend who's going to be the guardian to the self-replicating virus Raevan." Stretching out his arm he took Zeke's hand in a firm hand shake, not paying mind to his feebleness. "Please, don't call me 'boss', just 'Kyou' would be fine." So this was the veterinarian friend Alex mentioned. He wasn't like how Kyou had imagined at all - wearing glasses, having neat hair, looking more professional. Well, perhaps that was more his own looks than anything else, and maybe he was just generalizing. Throwing that image out of the window, he absorbed in Zeke's bright hair, piercings and music player, although he still had some difficulty trying to imagine this strange looking man to be a veterinarian of all things.

"I'm sorry this introduction had to come so late, I had wanted to meet with you earlier." Kyou said as he released Zeke's hand. He had his hermit tendencies to be blamed for this, especially when he was absorbed into work. Even his complexion was paler than before due to the lack of sunlight exposure, although Zeke probably wouldn't had noticed since this was their first meeting.

The scientist moved his foot then and came in contact with a piece of the shattered ceramic pot on the floor, nudging it to a side with a soft scraping sound against the floor. Alerted from this sound, Kyou's golden eyes shifted downwards immediately, finally remembering the mess they had made on Alex's office floors. "Oh dear." Taking a few steps back, careful not to step on the mess he crouched down a little distance away. "I guess we need to clean this up." The Italian woman probably wouldn't appreciate stepping into a pile of dirt and shattered ceramics first thing in the morning tomorrow.

Any fear Zeke had about being reprimanded or anything of that nature melted away as Kyou started talking to him. The feebleness and any self doubt he had washed away once the older man grasped his hand and the vet gave Dr. Kyou as firm a shake back. As the doctor commented on who he was and that he was the one that would be taking care of the virus Raevan, he nodded, looking both humbled and excited as that prospect rang in his ears once again.

"Yes I am," he said with a good natured chuckle, feeling his rapid beating heart slide back down to its appropriate home and calm to a normal rate. With introductions out of the way and no retorts being fired at him, Zeke's demeanor turned back to its usual plucky self though of course with the appropriate amounts of respect that came with chatting with a superior. His smile quirked a little more as Kyou requested the younger man call him by his name rather than by 'boss' and again Zeke nodded. "Of course, 'Kyou' it is."

A tinny blast of music pulled Zeke's gaze from Kyou to his music player that the doctor was also looking at in his survey. He fumbled for the small device but finally nabbed it and shut it down; the air free of music from seemingly nowhere and yet somewhere close by at all. As the apology came Zeke was tucking the MP3 into his pocket again. His head raised and he looked toward the horned man - again not phased by the additions to his person - before waving his hand as though waving the apology off. No harm done.

"It's all right," he said with a friendly simpleness, "I'm sure you must be busy with running this place, dealing with the science, and all that jazz." The hand he had waved the apology off with made a sweep about the room though in retrospect he meant everything beyond these walls as well. "Plus we're meeting now, so it eventually got done and now we aren't nameless figures to one another. Pretty good I'd say!" Zeke was definitely back to being chipper, though the scraping of ceramic on flooring made his gaze break once again.

"Ah jeez..." He squatted down and gingerly picked up some of the shards with his thumb and forefinger, resting the pieces in the palm of his other hand. "Yeah, though you don't have to trouble yourself Kyou. I dropped the pot, I'll clean it up." He rose up and dumped the large pieces into the garbage bin, looking beyond the desk for something to help pick up the mess. It was also a good motive to buy himself a bit of time, as he was unsure what to say to his employer. Normally things came easy with his full time boss and practically anyone, but he had just met this man. He didn't want to get off on the wrong foot especially since he had given the okay to Alex to allow Zeke to have this job and the Raevan still growing down the hall. Asking Kyou again - though politely - why he was in here seemed like a 'wrong foot' move, so what could he start with?

"Ah...Hmm." He clucked his pierced tongue against the roof of his mouth, hands resting on his sides as he turned back to the other man. Might as well start things off by asking if Kyou knew where a broom was. He had no idea himself. "Is there any sort of dust pan around? That'll make things waaay easier."

Despite his punkish looks, Kyou was glad to find that Zeke was a friendly, easy-going chap all around. People always say we shouldn't judge people by their looks, and the people that started that saying are probably right. The scientist smiled when Zeke called him by his name, it adds a touch of friendliness and removed the wall of superiority and inferiority between them. It is also why Kyou doesn't like people to call him 'boss', because he felt that being in such a small company like the Lab, the workers should treat each other like friends and families instead of 'colleagues'. That term always sounded very alien to him.

Carefully he picked up a large shard of ceramic as well, examining it for a moment before dropping it in the garbage bin which was closer to him, producing a loud clang as it hit the bottom of the nearly empty bin. That should be remedied quite soon. Then his eyes returned to the mess on the floor. There were a bajillion of smaller pieces mixed with dirt scattered throughout the floor, it would take them forever to clean it by hand. Zeke was right, if they had a broom and a dust pan it would be much faster.

"Yeah, there is one in the cafeteria just down the hall." Kyou said. "I'll go get it for you." Standing up, the tall man dusts some of the dirt off of his coat and pants before tip-toeing in between the chaos out of the room. It only took him a couple of seconds to grab two brooms and a long handled dust pan from the cleaning closet in the cafeteria and jogged back to Alex's office. The trip didn't take very long, and the scientist made his reappearance back at Alex's office in under a minute.

"Here, take these." He said as he handed out a broom and the dust pan to Zeke. Once they were off his hands, he took the remaining broom and stepped over to the other side and started to sweep. After all, he was partially to be blamed as well for the mess on the floor. Crouching down, he picked up all the larger pieces of ceramic and dumped them into the rubbish bin and sweep the rest into a centralized pool. That was when he noticed the pieces of the plant that was once in the unbroken pot. "What is that?" He asked curiously, picking up the small piece that probably detached from the main plant. "Is this...? A plant? Is this for Alex?"
PostPosted: Thu Apr 29, 2010 10:40 am

Zeke watched Kyou dump the shard he had picked up into the bin and winced slightly as the bang shouted out from the metal confines. Looking back to the pile, there'd be a few of those before the dirt made a decent enough cushion to break the ceramic pieces falls.

"Thank you." He said with a friendly smile before the older man departed. In the minute Kyou was gone Zeke plucked some more large shards out of the mix on the floor and dropped them into the bin before slowly starting to push the soil by his shoes toward the larger mass. Before he was able to press the growing wave of soil and tiny pieces too far across the floor Kyou was back, causing the veterinarian to lift his head with a 'well that was really fast!' sort of bemused expression on his face.

"Thanks again." Was his reply as he was handed the broom and pan. He leaned the broom against the wall to his right, taking the easy initiative to push the line of dirt a little farther along before standing as Kyou had done and retaking it up again. He left the pan on the floor for now, but as he started to sweep on his end Kyou directed his attention to the plant in his hand down to the still floor bound hens and chicks. "Whoops can't sweep those up," he crouched again, plucking the smaller ones out of the pile before dusting dirt off the larger, main plant and pulling it free. "They're succulents called 'hens and chicks'." At least, that was what he knew them as. If they had a proper, not scientific name, Zeke didn't know it. "And yeah," he heaved himself up again, looking around for a place to put the handful of plants where they would be out of harms way. "I guess the springtime air got to me, but I figured they're easy enough to take care of and can be pretty colorful so Alex might want a pot of them."

The desk seemed like the only decent location so Zeke put the succulents on her desk's top, mindful to put them down gently so the dirt clinging to their roots wouldn't coat his sibling's desk like the floor. Also, they already had one fall today, they didn't need to be treated any rougher even if they were hardy. While he set those down he saw the cactus on the corner. It hadn't been in here on the weekend.

"How about this? Did you put it here?" Zeke reached over the desk to point at the short-spined plant, finger hovering a few inches away from the closest pink blossom. If it was a gift from the horned man, he would have to say they had quite the similar taste in plants for such occasions. Though the hens and chicks lacked spines, they shared the thick, fleshy skin of cacti and thus were actually part of the same group of plants - succulents. What a neat little quirk. "I'm just curious because this wasn't on her desk when I was here over the weekend. It's really pretty though."

Zeke actually beamed at the cactus.

Kyou was speechless for a moment. What were the chances of two full grown men visiting Alex's office on the same day, around the same time, to gift the Italian woman the same type of plants? Well he's not a botanist, but he had seen those plants called 'hens and chicks' (what a strange name) placed among the cacti before at the plant nurseries. So he assumed they are of the same group. Plus Zeke's intention was probably different from Kyou's. The vet is just here to surprise Alex with a gift, and he was here to replace a dead plant. But still, this was some coincidence!

His attention was snapped back to Zeke as he inquired about the pot of mammillaria on the desk. "Oh that!" A light blush crept onto Kyou's cheek as he wondered if he should tell the green haired man the truth, it's somewhat embarrassing after all, and he wasn't supposed to be spotted. Although he don't see the harm in being honest. "Yeah. I uh... kind of murdered her cactus last month, so I thought I would replace it for her." The scientist admitted shyly. "Please don't let Alex know it's me... who replaced her cactus I mean." Since she already know it was him who killed her cactus.

Now that all the plant bits and large ceramic shards were out of the way though, it is easier for them to sweep up the mess on the floor. Gathering the pile of dirt and broken shards in a large pool, Kyou took the liberty and grabbed the dust pan, sweeping it up.
PostPosted: Wed Sep 15, 2010 10:54 am

The vet's head turned as Kyou piped up about the pink and green plant on Alex's desk. His hand dropped and rested on the flat surface of the desk, head tilted in polite curiosity, though an amused smile crept over his pierced features as the short tale was recanted.

"I see," he said with some consideration. Inwardly, he wondered if the older man before him had "borrowed" the cactus to use for a future Raevan, but something hadn't taken. That led to a quizzical line of thoughts that wondered if - even though the soul cloth matched the soul - the bottle wouldn't take the soul of something it was placed near, or outright reject the soul after it had been absorbed. Sort of like taking a bite of something that looks tasty, but finding it to be gross and spitting it out...But not really. "That was a nice thought though," Zeke added and he waved his hand in a 'don't worry about it' manner. "Your secret's safe with me, and I'll let her figure it out on her own. Kind of fun to watch her wander around puzzled!"

He barked a short laugh at that, having seen the woman do just that a handful of times before when he would leave little things around for her to find. They both silently agreed to make a game of such things - one would leave something hiding for the other to find, but leave clues and riddles around in various places and written on Post Its. It made dull afternoons without the other around pretty amusing in Zeke's opinion and watching his sister meander around looking for the next clue while he spun around in the receptionist's chair unhelpfully was a hoot.

With the mystery of the cactus solved, Zeke gave one of the plant's blossom's a gentle, exploratory touch before pulling himself away from it and the desk. Seeing Kyou was sweeping the mess, Zeke gave an embarrassed little 'thank you' and pulled the trash bin closer for the dirt to be dumped. A few missed shards were plucked off the floor and tipped into the receptacle by hand and Zeke's eyes scoured the floor for any more while his mind whirled around those questions that had popped up. He bit on his lip, uncertain if he should pose such things to the man, but soon enough his curiosity got the better of him and he had to ask.

"I'm curious," he began, "were you using Alex's cactus for a specific Fel Essence to make a Raevan?" Zeke judged his tone, polite and wondering, but maybe a bit too forward with the man who now employed him? He gave his throat a light clearing and rubbed the back of his neck in a sheepish manner. "Sorry if that was out of the blue, but with the whole "murdering the cactus" bit, I couldn't help but wonder."

Kyou smiled appreciatively and nodded in thanks at Zeke as he agreed to keep this a secret. Now what's left is to make this a secret, no trails of them should be found in the room, and that goes for the mess on the floor as well. "Thanks." The dark haired scientist replied politely as the trash bin was pulled closer. Dumping the remainder of the dirt and soil on the ground, he gave it a few more sweeps just to make sure he had everything covered. "Well, I think that will do." He said as he inspected the floor carefully. "Maybe I'll bring a vacuum cleaner over later just to make sure." He chuckled softly as he dumped the last bits of soil into the trash bin.

The scientist cocked one of his eyebrows as the curious question was posed. This lad is strange, but inquisitive. He always liked inquisitive minds. "Yeah." Chuckling softly, he put the broom and the dust pan to a side as he confirmed Zeke's suspicions. "It was... kind of an emergency back then." Pausing for a moment, the smile he had on his face faded somewhat as he recalled the memory of Alex's bursting back into the Lab. Shutting his eyes, he tried to shake the upsetting feeling away and put a smile on his face. "The cactus's soul and the fel essence was not compatible, so it was wasted."

Gently he patted his coat to rid of the soil and dusts, and suddenly felt very awkward standing in Alex's office like this talking to Zeke. Perhaps a change of venue is needed, as they were supposed to vacate the scene as soon as possible anyway, just in case Alex comes back. "I could tell you more about the Lab, but probably not here." Gold eyes glanced around the room and finally onto the ajar door warily. "How about we go grab some drinks at a cafe? Or a bar, if you prefer that?" He quickly added the option, just in case Zeke isn't a coffee person, since he don't exactly look like one.

"Good plan," Zeke agreed to the spoken idea of the vacuum cleaner. He knew his sister was sharp eyed when it came to some things, but he hoped dirt on the floor wasn't one of them. It could blow everything up! When the last of the dirt and pottery was tipped, Zeke put the trash bin back where he found it, but started to tie the bag within it up to be thrown away.

"She might see the shards and stuff in here," he said as his reason to suddenly tying it up, in case the man near him wondered, "I'll throw it out on my way out." It was the least he could do, especially if Kyou was going to come back and vacuum! He listened and looked up at his employer multiple times as he tied the bag and pulled it out, setting it off to the side as he strode to the cabinet in the room he knew Alex had the extra trash bags in. With some luck, there'd be a stash of plastic shopping bags or some Ziplocs stowed away too and he could use either or for the plant that still sat on Alex's desk. He'd get a proper pot later.

"An emergency?" he queried out of pure wonder of the situation that caused the cactus to be taken in the first place. Things like that were bound to happen once or twice, but that still didn't make them okay in any case. What had happened? Had it been something like what had occurred with his growing Raevan's Fel Essence and something got out, with Kyou needing a soul asap to tether the wayward Essence to before anything of that size happened again? He didn't stop to think on it anymore - surely something like that would have been news that rippled through the building and out to the owners - as Kyou spoke the plant and whatever Essence it had been chosen to bond to were not compatible.

"Ah jeez..." Zeke said softly, pulling a trash bag and a lucky, wayward plastic shopping bag out of the cabinet. "I'm sorry that had to happen, but I guess some things just aren't meant for others." It didn't sound like a case of "opposites attract" to him though. More like...Trying to fit two pieces of a jigsaw together, but finding out the tab and hole were too wrong for each other, even if at a glance they looked just right. He fit the bag into the can and carefully put his own plant into the plastic shopping one, trying not to knock anymore dirt off. Any that was left on the desk was swept into his palm and deposited into the newly lined can. Zeke didn't feel any worry coming from that, the small handful shouldn't be enough to give the actions that had transpired in here today away.

"I'd love to learn more about this place," his face lit up as he spoke the words, always curious about the how's, what's, and various other questions that would come of turning two unrelated - and decidedly magical - things into a living breathing being. The fact he had his own "in utero" down the hall only added to his gusto. He wanted to learn as much as he could before he or she arrived into this world and coming straight from the horse's mouth was the best possible way! Kyou had created these beings, so other than asking a Raevan themselves, the horned man was the go-to guy. Zeke did agree though, standing around in Alex's office wasn't the best place for this. She could come in at any time and the jig would be up long before it even began.

"Coffee sounds great!" Drinks at a bar did too, but that option didn't feel as appealing to the vet. Perhaps it was the atmosphere at such places or just how the beverages were: coffee was decidedly more professional and calm while alcohol was lax and bars themselves tended to be loud and none too private. "Do you have any place in mind? I don't have a car, but I'm not at all against walking!"

Kyou felt more relieved now that Zeke had taken the trash and took care of the succulents, Alex's room almost looked like it's original state. Save for some details such as the emptied trash can and bits of dirt here and there, which he will take care of later with a vacuum cleaner. But for now, coffee does sound like a really good idea after all that transpired this busy afternoon, maybe a slice of cake too...

"Market street is just a ten minutes walking distant away." He smiled as he suggested, glad that Zeke decided to go for coffee instead. "I know a small cafe there that serves great coffee, and cake too!" Excitement was evident on the older man's face as he recalled the delicious chocolate banana cake, he had been craving for that since last week. Besides, it has a spacious, cozy atmosphere that would be great to hang out and just talk. Seeing how inquisitive Zeke might be, they might spend quite some time there. "They also have sandwiches too, in case you haven't had lunch yet." Kyou chuckled as he noticed the clock, it is well over lunch time.

Turning around, he headed for the door, turning around to look at the bright-haired man before exiting. "I'll tell you what you want to know about the Lab when we have some food in our stomachs." As peculiar and coincidental as the meeting might have been, Kyou wouldn't say that it was a bad one. Despite Zeke's looks, he is turning out to be quite the decent and interesting character. Maybe someone like him would make the Lab lively again, maybe Zeke is really what they needed for recovery.
