Samhain was in his usual place; the outcropping where the pack held all of their meetings, the outcropping where he had introduced Draka to the pack as his intended mate, as his alpha. The rest had accepted her, Sam's best friend had been there. It had all been wonderful, like a dream. But like most good dreams, this one had also ended way too soon.
Sam's best friend was a seer, and had overheard the thoughts of everyone in the pack that night. One member in particular had been thinking some very distasteful things, and Shiva had warned Sam of the dangers of his hand-picked Beta male, Varok. His mate's brother. After Shiva had left and the pack had returned to a sense of normalcy, Varok had attacked.
The fight was meant to be between the two of them, male to male. Varok wanted his own sister as his mate, the sick ********. Sam was the target, Varok believed that if he could kill Sam and take hold of his pack, his sister would submit to him. Sam shivered as he recounted the things he had been told by his friend, the friend he trusted with his life.
Draka had jumped in to stop the fight, and had been knocked to the ground, as Sam had seen it. After the fight had ended, with him having to kill Varok, Draka had been nowhere to be found. Sam still ached for her. He had taken care of this pack from the time he was a teen until now, all on his own, but now without her he felt as though he was ready to crumble and fall at any moment.
He remembered the night they had carried Varok up the mountain and thrown him into the ocean below, on the other side of their home so that the body would never come afloat on either packland for anyone to gaze upon. Freed, the biggest male in Sam's pack, had helped him carry Varok's lifeless body, and had been the most hardened soul Sam had ever seen as they watched over the pier as the body slammed against the jagged sea rocks far below.
But now he was alone. Freed had withdrawn from him, choosing to spend his time within his own den. If Sam needed him, he would come, but so far Sam hadn't needed anyone but the wolf who had disappeared in the fray. He shook his head, the firt movement he had made in hours as the sun pathed across the sky, swallowed up by the forever moving ocean. The stars were coming out now, and as the moon rose in the opposite sky, Sam realized that he would have to hold a pack meeting soon.
It had been a full month since his love had gone.

For the full month Draka had been gone she had roamed the land finding her way back trying to figure out what had happened. All she could remember was her pack meeting and then a huge fight but after that things became fuzzy. She could remember lightly not being able to handle the dramatic scene of her brother and lover attacking one another and running away, but in her mind she hadn’t been gone for a month it had only been a short while. Two weeks at most had gone by in Draka’s mind, being alone in the woods around her homeland had been easy enough since she was an alpha but the sheer fact was that she was alone, without her Sam.
She had come back though, when it had hit her that it was more important to be there for her sibling and loved one she had gone right back. On her way back home she had pondered what to say what to do once she got back, would Sam welcome her with open arms? It was all Draka could think about before she had run into Rock who had informed of that Jono had mated and had a litter of pups. Which meant a lot longer time had passed since she had been gone.
Another thing? Apparently Sam had introduced another female in his pack… A bossy female as Rock had described her. Was she the new alpha? Did Sam replace her; did he not love her as much as she loved him? Biting back the tears Draka rushed forward heading to the one area she knew Sam would go in his pack lands. Draka slowed her steps as she came upon the area of the usual pack meetings, all the drama from before rushed through Draka’s mind she had to choke back her own sadness before tortting forward towards Sam… In all his glory.
And Sam would always look glorious in Draka’s eyes, which is why it pained her so much to do what she would have to do next. “Samhain.”

The wolf was so lost in his thoughts of the past that he didn't realize someone was upon him until they spoke. His name came to his ears from a female's lips, and he at first figured it was Lilith to talk to him about her new recruit, or Ave, come back from scouting outside the pack's borders with her report. But it was neither of those, and he winced at the conviction in that voice, he knew who it was, finally.
"Draka." he spoke her name, confused when it was so dry in his mouth. It had been that long? He turned to her, all the pain of the past weeks draining from him, visible in his eyes. She was home, she had come back to him. Why didn't he feel happy? Was it the brother he had been forced to kill? Did Draka know about his death? He would have to tell her if she hadn't already found out. The omegas had done a good job cleaning the dens of his blood. The strong alpha winced again at this thought, and moved forward towards his mate.
"Where have you been?" he questioned softly. He didn't want to tell her how badly she had caused him to worry. He didn't want to spread a negative light on this reunion. He did, however, wish for her to know how much he had missed her, how fond his heart had grown over her while she had been gone. He could not find the words.

His beautiful eyes, she was home again. He was there she was in her land things could be right again! But she knew deep down it couldn’t, she knew he had moved on and…. She wanted to hate him she wanted to bite him into pieces but he was so beautiful in her eyes, so… Sam. She didn’t know how else to explain it, everything was meant to be she just knew it. Maybe it wasn’t meant to be with her as his mate but she was home at least.
She couldn’t just forget that he wouldn’t drop his new mate, that she would be forced down to Beta and her powers be limited. And then the pups would roll in, she would be in the den while they mated wouldn’t she? Shivering at the very through Draka looked away shamed to be jealous of the alpha, her alpha. Biting her lip Draka growled taking a step forward, “I don’t… know.” Her rage sipped into her voice ripping through her lungs like knives, her claws dug into the ground below her she had to make sure she was still standing to really believe this.
“Before I come back to the pack I must know Sam. Why?” It was hard to look back at him, to look into the eyes of her loved one and know that he didn’t love her any more to know that she would forever be alone. How could you move on after loving someone as long as Draka’s loved Sam?

Sam's chest felt as though it were going to burst as she spoke to him, her words like knives. He had his laws about insubordination, but he also had his love for her. As she spoke further, this time a question, he felt utterly ensconced in sadness and pain. "It had to be done, my love. I was attacked, what followed was only natural." He hated that he had had to kill her brother, her only kin. There was no use to it, but now he was no longer a threat.
He wasn't sure of what else to say. 'I'm happy to have you home.' didn't seem to cut it. Words couldn't express his love for her, and his elation that she was finally home. He wanted to take her to all the places he enjoyed being, he wanted to introduce her to his new beta, Lilith, and their new omega, Lullaby. It was all so incredible how many wolves had come into the packlands, and now his sister's daughter, his own niece, was in the pack too.
That was interesting though, since it occurred to Sam finally that his pack had always had puppies in it. He marveled at this strange idea as Draka approached him, switching finally to her once again. "Can you forgive me? I never wanted to take from you."

“What!” Growling Draka shook her head looking away from Sam, she couldn’t bear to gaze into her loves eyes and see such false hope for the future. She could only laugh at hearing his explanation, “Natural.” Bitter and cold, that’s would she would become, if she couldn’t have Sam what was the point in being caring and loving? She wouldn’t be alpha now that he had another, she wouldn’t be herself now that she didn’t have HER other.
“It was only natural… Is that your excuse or your reason?” She wanted to ask him if he loved her as much as she had him, or if this was just a reason to make their pack bigger. Another laugh left her, she would have hoped after all that time spent pinning after him that he had at least returned her feelings, her thrive to stay with her even if she had disappeared. Maybe it was her fault? Maybe if she had just stayed this wouldn’t have happened, maybe… Could she still fix it? Did she want to fix it? Of course she did but…
Who was she kidding? Her ears perked at his words, “Take from me?” Another laugh and this time she couldn’t help but let a few tears slip free, “You’ve taken the most precious thing from me you possible could Sam.” ‘Me heart…’ Her thoughts finished the sentence for her.

Sam swallowed hard, listening to her spit her anger out at him. He wasn't sure why she was so angry, for she had been very wary of her brother, and had confided in Sam that she felt uncomfortable around the other male. Sam wanted to know what was going on now, and felt that if games were being played with him, then the rules needed to be a bit more clear.
"Fighting is natural when one is attacked. Draka, what has gotten into you? I couldn't let him leave the pack after he plotted so thoroughly against you, against me. And the attack!" he scoffed, forced to remember that night once again. It was getting very old.
"I love you." he spoke with more conviction now than he ever had. "Even if you had been gone my enter lifetime, I would still love you. That won't ever change." he could almost howl in madness, but he kept his voice even. He was unsure of why this female who had loved and respected him so much was now showing such disrespect. She knew how things went in his pack, knew his rules, knew how he was to be treated if she was to assume the same treatment. Why would she even come back to his pack to act like this?

Frowning Draka shook her head not wanting to listen to his lame excuses about what happen, he had stopped loving her and that was enough to make Draka growl in rage. She wouldn’t have this male play with her mind, with her heart- Wait what was he talking about? He? Who’s he? Had Sam turned gay while she had been gone!?
‘Wait that didn’t make any sense…’ Biting her lip Draka looked back to gaze at Sam, he hadn’t changed he was still just as wonderful as the last time she had seen him which had been… When her brother and Sam had fought? That’s what he was talking about?
Tears slipped through Draka’s defenses and she had to bite her lip harder, “You do?” She didn’t care about the attack between her brother and her Sam all she wanted to know was if he still loved her and… And he does! “I don’t care about the attack Sam, nothing matters to me more then you do… But what about…” It was hard to say outloud, if he was talking about the fight then he truly might have just brought the female on to enlarge the pack and no love was there? She could understand that… But jealous still simmered on the surface.
“What about the female I’ve heard about Sam, am I to be replaced?”

He couldn't bare to see her cry. The big male moved forward, aware that it had grown a lot darker since he had first heard her say his name. "It's alright, it's fine." he doted on her, rubbing his cheek against her own. "What about?" he questioned, before she finished her inquiry.
"The female? Replaced? I could never replace you, my love." he reassured her. "We do have two new members, a beta female." he left out 'to replace your brother', "And a male, omega. Ave is missing, but she was sent to scout the land outside of our pack. I'm certain she's fine." The other omega had gone on a scouting mission before Draka had disappeared, before Sam had had to go back to his birth pack. He hoped the female was alright.
"Don't worry, my heart. The new beta has the hots for the omega." he grinned mischievously. "I'm waiting to see if she comes to me concerning the rules surrounding such a pairing.

Smiling Draka couldn’t help but allowed tears to slip free now, happy tears of a joyful future they will share together in their pack land forever with each other. “I’m so happy to hear that!’ Sniffling Draka whimpered as she cuddled her head closer to that of Sam’s she was just so happy to be close to him again.
To be near the male she loved was so thoroughly wonderfully, he understood her and accepted her still even if she had messed things up. He still loved her, “I love you so much Sam, I had missed you so much…” Her life would begin a new, she would be free to care for Sam to start a family there was no female in her way.

The big wolf smiled, happy to have his sunshine back in his life. Now they could all get on with pressing matters like recruiting, and then there was the sticky issue of his twin's daughter, who he had taken from her by request. He wasn't sure what was going on with Beltane, but whatever it was, he hoped like hell she would keep her nose clean from now on.
Sam nuzzled his mate and rose to his paws, turning slightly to see the full effect of the moon over the endless sea. "I love this time of night." he breathed, sniffing deeply to catch the heavy salt scent in the air. It was even more perfect now that Draka was home. He wanted to ask her about that night, about what she remembered, but decided it would be best left a silent issue for now, along with where she had gone to, and why it had taken her this long to come back home to him.
"Come, I can introduce you to the new wolves who have come." he gave her one last nuzzle before standing aside, as if to gesture for her to go back down the dirt ramp into the caves first. He was still wary that she would disappear, and wanted to keep her in his sights. There was Lullaby and Lilith to introduce, and Pol and Sol. He thought more as he waited for her to pass him. The pup, his niece, her too.

Smiling Draka nodded happy to be near her loved one, her one and only the wolf that made her whole and all of that gushy stuff that completed ones soul. Tears still stung at the corner of her eyes and she let out a small laugh, thinking back on the events of her journey Draka couldn’t believe she had really been convinced that this man would give her up so easily.
“I really believed you had replaced me Sam, I’m so happy you hadn’t…” More tears of joy left her eyes as she couldn’t help but cling to Sam’s before heading off to their den. Their den, the one they rule over and the one where she would give birth to puppies one day. Which reminded her! She still needed to speak with Sam about the pups in their neighboring pack.
“Sam, there was this pup I ran into on the way here… Rock I believe his name was. He said something about a mean and bossy female… Is he not allowed here any more?” It was probably just his little puppy imagination but it would never hurt to double check everything that goes on in her pack land… With her mate. The thought made her giggle.

Sam only snickered at her exclamation. He could never replace her, and she knew it. He followed her down the dusty ramp, which became cooler as they descended. When she asked about a puppy, he paused on the ramp, mid way. "Oh wow, puppies?" he said with a gleam in his eye. He had been gone for a while too, it seemed, back home to meet his younger siblings. "No, no, every wolf from South Seaside is welcome here at any time." his brows furrowed. He hadn't rescinded anyone's permission to come here had he? Especially not a pup he hadn't even known existed until now.
"Lilith." he said, finally a look of comprehension on his face. "I left her in charge, she must not have understood." He would have to speak with her later about it, and further explain. He had been a rush to get back to his home after the news he had received from his twin sister. The two had been standing on the ramp for a long time, but now he knew what was going on. The male snickered again, not one for full on giggling, and nipped at his mate playfully. The two of them must have looked awfully silly perched on the narrow ramp like a couple of lovestruck teens.
